Get centered with Scentered Therapy Balms Ultimate Survival Kit!

Scentered

Oh, if you only knew how much I need my Scentered Therapy Balms. I need some of these mood enhancing body balms more than others, but every single one has saved me time and again. October is, by far, the most stressful month for a high school guidance counselor (my day job…I am a beauty blogger by night). The craziness of college applications, letters of recommendation, student anxiety and mental health issues…and in order to be a good counselor I need to be calm, collected, and centered. So all throughout the day I pull out the appropriate Scentered Therapy Balm to quickly get me back on track.                                                                              samples

Scentered Therapy Balms

Scentered Therapy Balms

Scentered Therapy Balms are fragranced solid balms that are applied to pulse points…or for real immediate gratification I just take a deep inhale. They go to work immediately, calming me down and restoring my mood back to center. There are five different Scentered Therapy Balms from which to choose. Each one can be purchased individually for $24, or for those of us who have stress times fifty, there is the Ultimate Survival Kit for $80.

Scentered Therapy Balm in EscapeSometimes I just need to escape from my current reality. Ok, who am I kidding….I OFTEN need to escape from my current reality. When that happens, I reach for ESCAPE, which is a combination of musky oud, woodsy frankincense, and warm sandalwood. Add in a little vanilla and some smoky birch and cinnamon and it’s an instant escape to an exotic vacation. Aaahhhhh.

Scentered Therapy Balm in LoveWhen I need a hug, I get some LOVE.  Love comforts and calms me with bright orange and clove, romantic rose and jasmine, and rich patchouli and cedarwood. This is especially good for soothing anxiety and opening your heart.

Scentered Therapy Balm in FocusI often find myself so preoccupied with problems that I can’t seem to get anything done – I’m just running around in circles. That’s when I pull out FOCUS to get my head clear and my mind laser focused. The fragrance is crisp and green, with refreshing peppermint, clary sage, spearmint and thyme.

Scentered Therapy Balm in Sleep WellDo you ever fall into bed dead tired, but then can’t sleep because you just can’t shut off your mind?? That’s when SLEEP WELL will become your best friend. There is nothing more relaxing than this magical combination of lavender, chamomile, and geranium. One whiff and you will soon be off to dreamland.

Scentered Therapy Balm in Stress LessMy favorite of the six is the one I need the most often – STRESS LESS. I am a stress puppy. I thrive on excitement and that adrenaline from deadlines and helping others in crises, but a body can only take so much. At some point pretty much every day I think, dang, this stress is going to send me right over the edge. STRESS LESS really and truly helps, with a super relaxing combination of chamomile, neroli, orange, and jasmine. It automatically resets me back into balance and peace.

I think all of the Scentered Therapy Balms are fabulous fragrance balms. If you can only afford one, there isn’t a bad choice among them. If you can afford the Ultimate Survival Kit, go for it — I can promise you there is a balm for every time you find yourself a little off-center.  – Lisa

Sweet Bee Magic from Medicine Mama’s Apothecary

Have you ever heard of power animals or animal totems? Shamans, also known as healers, have known through the ages that power animals are spirit guides in animal form. When a power animal shows up it is communicating a message and helping you find peace and bliss on your life’s path. Lately the bumble bee has been popping up constantly for me, so when Medicine Mama’s Apothecary sent us some products to try I was not surprised to see even more bees.  The bumble bee symbolizes abundance, personal power, love and community. What a great message from the fantastic organic skin care line, Medicine Mama’s Apothecary.

Medicine Mama’s Apothecary features organic skin care products made from the highest quality medicinally active raw materials. They use ingredients from around the globe and their products are made with loving care in small batches at their boutique apothecary. Two of my favorites are the Sweet Bee Magic All in One Healing Skin Cream ($19.99) and the Sweet Bee Magic Wand ($12.99).

Medicine Mama All in One Secret Skin Cream

The Sweet Bee Magic All-in-One Enhanced Healing Cream is not really a cream, it’s more like a balm that moisturizes, revitalizes, and protects the skin. You can use this everywhere – face, hands, feet, and body. It has a healing compound called Melexylem™ that is an antioxidant and an anti-inflammatory. This is a household multi-tasker for sure – check out everything it does:

Maintain healthy, radiant, youthful-looking skin
Moisturize dry, cracked or irritated skin
Heal rashes, burns, scars & intense skin irritation
Soothe cold sores and chapped lips
Reduce inflammation
Relieve sunburns & insect bites

This is a terrific facial moisturizer that doesn’t clog pores or make me break out. I also love it for cracked and peeling hands, and it’s great for soothing rashes and burns.

Ingredients include healing Melexylem™, purifying propolis, antimicrobial honey, nourishing royal jelly, revitalizing bee pollen, moisturizing extra virgin olive oil, protective beeswax. It is also free of dyes, fragrances, artificial preservatives, parabens, soy, etc.

Medicine Mama All in One Lip and Face Balm

For some transportable bee magic, the Sweet Bee Magic Wand ($12.99) is perfection. This is a Propolis & Honey Lip & Face Balm for Healing On the Go. It comes in a tube that is about twice the size of a regular chapstick. It’s still small enough to be purse-friendly and my lips absolutely love the healing hydration that the Sweet Bee Magic Wand provides. Here is what else it can be used for:

Moisturize skin daily
Heal chapped lips
Nourish skin overnight
Repair rashes, burns & scars
Soothe cold sores
Relieve cuts, scrapes & insect bites
Gloss eyelashes

Ingredients include healing Melexylem™, purifying propolis & honey blend, protective beeswax, nourishing extra virgin avocado oil, moisturizing extra virgin olive oil. Sweet Bee Magic is certified organic by the CCOF and is free of synthetic dyes, fragrances, preservatives, parabens, sulfates, soy and petroleum.

After using my Sweet Bee Magic products for several weeks, I have to say I believe in the magic of bees. Just use the Store Locator on the website to find Medicine Mama’s Apothecary products near you.  – Lisa

MARCIA’S SIDE:  USDA Organic Bar Soap

lemon4

I think I might be unusual in the world of beauty bloggers. Most say they don’t use bar soaps but I do and I have them in all my bathrooms. I use liquid soaps too but I don’t think I could be without bar soaps in my life. I have two of the Earth’s Enrichments UDSA Organic Bar Soaps – Lemon Fresh Shea and Naturally Nude ($7.99 each).

Earth's Enrichments Organic Bar Soaps

Earth’s Enrichments Organic Bar Soaps

Lemon Fresh Shea contains Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter and Lemongrass. It’s a handcrafted soap as are the others from Earth’s Enrichment. The scent of this is pretty strong (in my opinion) but not unpleasant. I love anything lemon scented. The lemongrass brings the strength to the fragrance. Since this contains coconut oil it’s very moisturizing.

Earth's Environments Naturally Nude Soap Bar

Earth’s Environments Naturally Nude Soap Bar

Naturally Nude is the one I keep in my bathroom. I like to keep a bar soap in my shower for places I don’t want to use a scented body wash. This is in my soap dish and it’s lasted so long. This unscented body bar is said to rejuvenate, hydrate and restore your skin. I’ve used it instead of body washes too because it not only is coconut oil based but it contains aloe vera so I find it moisturizing and not drying.

LISA’S SIDE:  ORGANIC BODY BALM

Earth's Enrichments Naturally Nude Handcrafted Body Balm

Earth’s Enrichments Naturally Nude Handcrafted Body Balm

Sometimes it just feels better to go nude. I typically choose fancy, super scented body products, but there are times when I need the basics. Fragrance is a no-no for me when I have a headache, and it is also handy to have a mega-moisturizer that doesn’t compete with my body spray or perfume. Earth’s Enrichment’s Naturally Nude Handcrafted Body Balm ($11.99) is exactly what I need when it’s time for some body product nudity.

Earths Enrichments Body Balm

Naturally Nude with its top off...lol!

Naturally Nude with its top off…lol!

This is a basic, simple yet effective organic body balm. The ingredients include shea butter, sunflower oil, coconut oil, safflower oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, and vitamin E oil. It has beeswax as a thickener, so this is a solid balm that softens with body temperature. I place my fingers on the balm and wait a few seconds, then scoop some out and apply it anywhere that needs tons of moisture. I particularly like this for elbows and cuticles. If you have very sensitive skin or suffer from allergies, you will love this gentle organic body balm.

Earth’s Enrichments is a great line for organic, natural products that are good for the earth and good for your body.  Check them out online at earthsenrichments.com, and you can also find them in some health stores and Whole Foods Markets.

Banish your dehydrated body skin with derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

Are you sick of us complaining about winter? We’re pretty sick of complaining and we’re sick of winter but luckily there are a few products that want to help us get through more easily. One of the latest I’ve been using is derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm. When I was sent this big jar to try out I was just finishing up a lotion so the timing was great. We’ve reviewed several derma e products before and have always enjoyed them so I knew I was in for a treat with this body balm.

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

The derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm is especially formulated to help with dry, dehydrated skin. It’s an extremely rich formula that is creamy enough to spread easily on your body. I massage a small amount onto each leg and it’s banished my dry skin. It’s not greasy so it doesn’t leave a layer of cream on my skin nor do I have to wait long to put on a pair of pants. The reason I only use this on my legs though is that it’s not fragrance free. It has an herbal scent that I notice enough that I don’t want to use it on my upper body but I doubt others would feel that way. It’s just my sensitivities to smell.

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

Because it’s so rich I want the goodness of it to help my lower body out. It’s terrific on ankles and on elbows. Anywhere you have rough, hardened skin that needs relief, this body balm can work its wonders. According to derma e “full-spectrum Vitamin E is able to restore and maintain skin’s natural barrier function, helping it regain its natural ability to lock in moisture and defend itself against elemental stress.”

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm

derma e Vitamin E Intensive Therapy Body Balm is highly concentrated so it helps with the toughest problems. And look at all the goodness about this product: 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, GMO-free, phthalate-free, petrolatum-free, lanolin-free.

  • High antioxidant Tocopherols plus Alpha, Beta, Gamma and Delta Tocotrienols (natural Vitamin E) are distinguished for their superior antioxidant defense against environmental aggressors
  • Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea, plus Essential Fatty Acids from Cranberry Seed Oil, Olive and Jojoba deliver nutrient-rich moisture, restoring skin to a healthy looking state.

The MSP is $15 for the 6.7 oz jar but I’ve seen it for less online. At Vitacost there’s a fragrance free tube that’s 8 oz and only $9.09 while this jar is $10.59. At Amazon the jar is $8.49. When my jar is finished up I’ll be purchasing the fragrance free one for sure.

If you are tired of what winter has done to your skin it’s time to check out this body balm option. Another winning product from derma e. Keep them coming!! — Marcia

Perfect duo for the holidays: June Jacobs Creamy Cranberry Cleanser and Cranberry Body Balm

Cranberry is such a great scent, and of course it’s perfect for this time of year.  How about a great cranberry scented duo for the holidays?  It would be great to find these two in your stocking:  June Jacobs Creamy Cranberry Cleanser ($44) and Cranberry Body Balm ($50).

A beautiful Cranberry duo from June Jacobs

June Jacobs is the owner and creator of the June Jacobs Spa Collection.  I love strong, visionary women, and June is the perfect example.  Here she is with her daughter, Rochelle Jacobs:

June and Rochelle Jacobs

June has been in the luxury spa business for over 30 years, and her products are the result of her amazing knowledge and talent.  June Jacobs Spa Collection is a beautiful line with some real gems, and here are a few that fit right into that holiday theme.

The Creamy Cranberry Cleanser is definitely for those with dry skin.  This is probably the most moisturizing cleanser I have ever used.

June Jacobs Cranberry Cleanser

The scent is so pretty, it’s not a cloying smell at all.  This hydrating cleanser has sesame seed oil and jojoba seed oil to plump up dry skin, and it also has an antioxidant blend of white, red, and green tea seed extract to neutralize free radicals.  While I found it to be too rich for my combination skin, my dry skinned friends who tried it found it was a terrific option.

June Jacobs Cranberry Body Balm

And if you love cranberries, you really should try the Cranberry Body Balm.  It smells pretty amazing, and the dry down is fantastic even hours later.

June Jacobs Cranberry Body Balm swatch

It’s a balm, so it has a sort of slippery texture.  The ingredients include a mixture of shea butter, squalane, sunflower, jojoba, and sesame which is extremely moisturizing.  My body needs way more moisture than my face does, so this super hydrating formula is welcome relief to my parched winter skin.

I really love products that help to celebrate whatever season is upon us, and this dynamic duo is the perfect answer to eliminating dry skin in a holiday appropriate manner.  June Jacobs products are available online here, as well as at QVC.com.  Even better, this weekend is the BIG SALE, 40% everything on the website!!  Just enter BIGSALE11 at checkout.  The sale ends Monday at 12 a.m.  Happy shopping!  – Lisa

Aloette is a professional grade line for both skin care and cosmetics.  This is a line where you can become a consultant and have parties, etc. to earn your own money.   They have an amazing array of products available, from acne cures to powdered eye base to candles.  And when they have a sale, they have a SALE, although you can only get your sale products along with a $40 purchase.  You can buy online, or through a consultant, and they even have an autoship option.

Lisa and Marcia recently tried some products, and here are some favorites so far:

Lisa says:  I am really enjoying the Pure Radiance Bioactive Brightening Mist ($34.50).

There are several things that make this toner unique.  Interesting ingredients include Kombuchka mushroom and Lumitone Complex, which is designed to make your skin firmer and brighter looking.  I like that it’s alcohol-free, and I especially love the spray bottle.  Why aren’t all toners packaged like this??  It’s just so much more hygienic than pouring toner out of a bottle.  I find that this toner doesn’t strip my skin, and yet it removes any makeup left from my cleanser, and seems to nicely prep my skin for my skin care regime.

Ingredients include: Purified Water, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Saccharomyces/ Xylitum Black Tea Ferment, Polysorbate 20, Alpha-Arbutin, Glycerin, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Polyglyceryl Methacrylate, Octadecenedioic Acid, Diacetyl Boldine, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Oil, Cyprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Cltrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Diazolidinyl Urea, Proplene Glycol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Oil, Mentah Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Oil, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate

That’s my choice for Aloette.  How about you, Marcia?

Marcia says: It’s my turn now to tell you all about Spa Indulgence Body Butter Balm ($22.50). This Body Butter Balm is one of those fun products that I like using. It looks like a deodorant but the only resemblance to that is the push up tube. The tube contains a heavenly orange vanilla balm that’s perfect for when you get out of the shower to moisturize your body or for anytime you want to get rid of dry patches.

This is extremely moisturizing since it contains shea and cocoa butter combined with almond, coconut and jojoba oil for extreme moisturization. The push up tube makes it easy to apply to spots like your ankles or elbows. I prefer to massage this on my feet at night since they get so dry and that can keep me from falling asleep. I have also used it on my legs to combat what winter has done to my skin this year. The regular price of this is $22.50 but it’s often on sale for $9.95 with your $40 order.

Ingredients Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor Seed Oil), Beeswax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Orange Sweet Fragrance,Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E Acetate), Aloe Vera Oil

Lisa and Marcia encourage you to check out Aloette’s line of products since there are so many to choose from. We like what we’ve tried and we’re looking forward to trying more.
