Yummy treats for cheeks and lips: Pixi Dulce Cafe con Dulce and Dulce Lip Candy Palettes

Pixi + Dulce Candy Sweet Glow Palette and Dulce’s Lip Candy

Pixi Beauty paired up with three influensers for new color collections.  Marcia reviewed the beautiful sets by  Chloe Morello and Weylie Hoang.  Today I have the cheek and lip palettes by the beautiful blogger Dulce.  She has a gorgeous website with tremendous fashion tips and great beauty advice, and her Pixi palettes are very pretty.  Get them before they are gone!!

Pixi + Dulce Candy Sweet Glow Palette

The Pixi + Dulce Candy Sweet Glow Palette ($24) has nine cheek powder shades that range from light champagne to dark brown contour.  The colors are all gorgeous and work as blushes, bronzers, highlighters, or eyeshadows.  They have tons of pigment and are buttery smooth.

It’s recommended to use your fingers and I actually agree if using these as eyeshadows.  It’s easier to manipulate the color and you can really create some very cool eye looks.  For cheeks, I use brushes, and they have a duochromatic effect so they give color and a glow to skin.  The texture is powder to cream which makes it very easy to play with and a lot of fun.

Dulce’s Lip Candy ($24) This palette contains nine lip and cheek colors that have antioxidants and minerals to keep skin soft and hydrated.

Pixi + Dulce’s Lip Candy

The shades range from barely there pink to deep red.  The colors are feminine and beautiful, mostly sheer but you can build them up for more tint.  A few of them are downright UBER pigmented, like Beso. You can also use them on your cheeks and in fact Dulce recommends using them as a base before putting on the cheeks powders.  Most of them are really too light to use as a blush, but a few – Beso, Flor, Canela, Corazon – could work.  My skin didn’t work well with this as a blush – it disappeared almost as soon as I put it on, but honestly my skin eats cream blush so I wasn’t surprised.  If you have normal skin it shouldn’t be a problem!  I use this as a lippie palette and it’s outstanding for that purpose.  With all the colors, you can do fun things like layer shades, or use a dark base and put a light shade right in the middle of the lip to create a fuller lip.

The lip glosses are very versatile, and if you love a full selection right at your fingertips – and literally your fingertips…I mean, you can use a brush but I am too impatient and just dip my fingers in – then this palette is well worth your money.

You can find Pixi Beauty and the Dulce Candy sets online at Pixi – get them before they are sold out and gone forever!  – Lisa

Hello Fab! Side by Side takes a look at First Aid Beauty

First Aid Beauty has come to our rescue many times for dry, cracked skin – but what about color products?  Is First Aid Beauty just as FAB in that area?  Lisa and Marcia tested out the Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer ($28), Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer ($28), and Hello Fab Mango Butter Multi Stick ($20) to see if all the raves were true.

Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

LISA’S VIEW:

Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

The Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer is a lovely, lightweight combination moisturizer/primer. Much to my delight, it does have a very slight coconutty scent, nothing overwhelming but still enough to make us coconut lovers dance a happy dance. It gives skin a beautiful sheen so on low maintenance days it’s really all you need.  It’s great as a primer and provides a wonderful canvas for foundation.

Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

The ingredients are terrific, featuring coconut water plus a host of other ‘superfoods’:

MARCIA’S VIEW:

This is actually my first real go-around with First Aid Beauty. When we’ve received products from them they’ve gone to Lisa. I’ve mostly used samples that I’ve gotten in subscription boxes. For me, everything has to pass the “sniff” test. Let’s see my opinion of these.

First Aid Beauty

Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

The Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer is the one product I was most eager to try out. Some of my beauty friends adore this multitasker. It provides sunscreen protection of SPF 30. Equally important is that it makes my skin look soft and luminous. I was so excited when I first used this primer because of the way it felt and looked. I totally understood why others raved about it.

Hello FAB Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

Now about that “sniff test”. I find the fragrance to linger but I’m not used to scented products. The smell is delicious though and definitely a coconut one. I’m using the primer in spite of the fragrance since it’s said to tackle dryness, dullness, pores, uneven skin tone and uneven texture. First Aid Beauty is describing my skin needs with those benefits.

Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer

Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer is available in 5 shades.

Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer (from firstaidbeauty.com)

Ultra Repair Fair: For pale, cream and fair skin
Ultra Repair Light: For beige and buff colored skin
Ultra Repair Medium: For golden, olive or honey colored skin
Ultra Repair Tan: For caramel, tanned or medium brown skin
Ultra Repair Rich: For almond, bronze or rich brown skin

The good news is that this passes the “sniff test”. The bad news is that the Light I was sent is too dark for me. But from the pictures I’m sure that Fair would work well for me.

I really like the texture of the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer since it’s mousse like. At first it sort of sits on skin but as it settles in it melds well with my skin. There are so many great ingredients in the tinted moisturizer like Colloidal Oatmeal and Allantoin (they help reduce redness as well as reduce redness and calm and soothe skin). It contains Hyaluronic Acid so I’m happy about that. I can wear the Light if I blend really well and it does cover enough to hide my skin imperfections. I need to try this in Fair though for the best look.

Mango Butter Multi Stick

Hello Fab Mango Butter Multi Stick

The Mango Butter Multi Stick is available in Champagne, Moonlight, and Rose’. Both of us received this in Moonlight which is a beautiful very light pinky/lavender with an opalescent glow.

Hello FAB Mango Butter Multi Stick Rosé

Hello FAB Mango Butter Multi Stick Champagne

Hello FAB Mango Butter Multi Stick Moonlight

I was really surprised when I saw this was a cream to powder product. Almost all items like this that can be used on eyes, face, and lips are balm like. But the Multi Stick is dry to the touch. After gliding it onto the area you desire (even décolleté) just tap it lightly with your fingertips to blend. If you want more coverage you just need to layer it.

It’s a nice stick to carry with since it’s not going to melt under normal conditions. I’ve used it mainly as a highlighter since it doesn’t show up on my lips. The Multi Stick is a nice way to combat dullness.

I’m happy that I’ve had a great experience with these First Aid Beauty products but Lisa probably won’t be since I’ll want to try more of them.

You should try these and others for a great experience of your own.

Pop Beauty knows how to have fun with cosmetics

We’ve reviewed Pop Beauty in the past and have always found that it’s a line that is for those who love to have fun with makeup. They have some beautiful cosmetics and they also have some funky cosmetics. They really mix things up. It’s not a line for everyone but it is a line that is reasonably priced and has great colors that are beautifully pigment. For the spring/summer they’ve created a line of products that are perfect for parties and music festivals.

Today we’re all about their Prismatic Pop Illuminating Powders and their liquid glitter eyeshadows, Flashshadow.

LISA LOVES POP BEAUTY PRISMATIC POP ILLUMINATING POWDERS:

pop beauty’s Prismatic Pop Illuminating Powders

Marcia previously reviewed four of pop beauty’s Prismatic Pop Illuminating Powders ($12) – Celestial Light, Lunar Light, Stellar Light, and Gilded Light. These beauties are fabulous powder highlighters that give skin a gorgeous glow.

pop beauty Prismatic Pop Illuminating Powders.

Prismatic Pop Illuminators also come in two more shades – one is a blush, Royal Rose, and the other is a blush/bronzer, Bronze Boom.

pop beauty’s Prismatic Pop Illuminating Powders in Royal Rose and Bronze Boom

Like the ‘Light’ highlighters, Royal Rose and Bronze Boom are very similar to much more expensive products – they have a very silky texture and don’t have any glittery fallout. The color is blendable and glowy. For $12 I think these are a total steal.

Royal Rose is more pink than rose and it really brightens up my complexion. Bronze Boom is a lovely bronze that looks amazing paired with Royal Rose. I like to put Royal Rose on the apple of my cheeks, then sweep Bronze Boom underneath to contour. It’s an awesome contrast that works great together.

MARCIA IS FASCINATED BY THE 4 FLASHSHADOW LIQUID EYESHADOWS:

I can’t say that I love these but I can say that I’m fascinated with Flashshadow. If I were 20 years younger I’d be wearing these for every outing that didn’t involve work. The 4 Flashshadow shades are pure glitter but they last and last. They aren’t going anywhere and there isn’t much fallout if you are careful about your application. They are probably the most fun eyeshadows I’ve tried in years.

POP Beauty Flashshadow Liquid Eyeshadows

The 4 shades are

Cosmic Confetti – Silver/ Multicolored glitter

Naked Glitz – Rose gold base with silver and gold glitters

POP Beauty Flashshadow Liquid Eyeshadows

Crushed Copper – Red/orange base with silver glitter

Black Dazzle – Black base with silver glitter

POP Beauty Flashshadows: Black Dazzle, Crushed Copper, Cosmic Confetti, Naked Glitz

Being a liquid eyeshadow they don’t drop glitter on your face. You have time to apply and smooth out and then just let it set. If you don’t rub your eyes they’ll last through any party. Of course they’ll need a dedicated eye makeup remover when the night has come to it’s end but even then they come off pretty easily. These are not your typical eyeshadows (obviously) but they are pretty interesting for those of you who love to shine!

For a wonderful glow that makes skin, eyes, and lips POP without breaking the bank, pop beauty is most definitely a line to check out! You can find pop beauty online on their website as well as in store at select Rite Aid, Walgreens and Duane Reade stores. Watch for a pop beauty giveaway on Beauty Info Zone for a slew of other fun and interesting products.

Pixi Pretties with Chloe Morello

Pixi + Chloe Morello

As much as I love Pixi Beauty and Pixi Skintreats I can’t help but be extra thrilled when Pixi comes out with new palettes. Palettes are my jam and I’m always on the lookout for the newest and best. That’s where Chloe Morello comes into the picture. She’s one of three influencers that Pixi by Petra chose to collaborate with on their pretties.

Pixi Romantic Radiance palette by Chloe Morello and Lip Icing in Cake

Palette Chloette aka Romantic Radiance has everything I could possibly want – 3 perfect blushes, 6 lovely eyeshadows and a trio of colors for lining and brows. This is a face palette at its very best.

samples

In quoting Chloe Morello for Pixi Beauty I’ve got to say that she accomplished what she set out to: “Being in love is one of those times where you look your most radiant, and the look inspired me to create these two products. The palette has all the shades to create a beautiful naturally luminous look while the lip gloss brings the most amazing sparkle and dimension.”

Pixi + Chloe Morello palette

I am totally crazy about the blush in this palette. I’ve been craving new blush and these 3 are making me thrilled. In spite of my horrid swatch photos (I’ve got to buy a new camera ASAP) the blush are perfect on my skin. I can use just one or blend two together with ease. They apply smoothly and last the day.

Pixi + Chloe Morello palette

Top swatch is a peach with just a touch of pink to keep it from becoming too warm. Middle swatch is a neutral pink making it easy to wear with both warm and cool shadows. The bottom is a rosy brown in the palette but has more coral to it once on my fair skin.

Pixi Palette Chloette, Romantic Radiance

The 6 eyeshadow shades are the colors I love to wear day in and day out. I used to wear strictly purple shadows and their coordinating colors but I now NEED golds and browns. These are shades that I can wear all day no matter what the occasion and then spice up to make them a little zestier for evening.

Pixi + Chloe Morello eyeshadow swatches

The trio are matte shades that of course can be used as eyeshadow but I like to use these for my eyebrows mostly. At $24 this is one of the most versatile and easy to wear palettes I have. A true keeper.

Now let’s talk about the second part of the Chloe Morello collection – the Lip Icing. This particular shade of Lip Icing is called Cake and it absolutely glitters and glows. This is how you add that zest you want for your night out.

Pixi Lip Icing Cake

Pixi Lip Icing Cake

I’ve got other Lip Icings and I love them. Cake is so unique ($14) since it adds a 3D glimmer. It’s gold but it has beautiful pink and lavender shimmer shot through it. It plays beautifully in light and would make a special lip for a candlelit dinner worn either alone or to enhance a favorite lipstick.

Pixi CAKE Lip Icing

Pixi Cake Lip Icing

At my ancient age glitter isn’t my thing but the iridescence of the gloss makes me want to wear it in spite of the calendar.

All three of the collections (Chloe Morello, Dulce Candy, and Weylie Houng) are ones you don’t want to miss out on. They are available online at Pixi Beauty’s website. You need Palette Chloette in your life, I just know you do!  —  Marcia

What’s making you blush these days? How’s Viseart Theory for a suggestion?

A new season needs something new to welcome it so Makeup Wars has decided to regale you with our favorite blushes. There are a few things I never leave the house without and blush is one of them. I’m pale as can be so without blush there’s no definition to my face. I’m comfortable spending the day with a tinted moisturizer/sunscreen, curled and mascara’d lashes, and some blush. Surprisingly I’m not choosing a cream blush for this post even though I love a good cream blush. Instead I want to share one of the two Viseart Theory Cheek Palettes  –  Enamored.

Viseart Theory Cheek palette in Enamored. Picture credit: Muse Beauty

There are two Theory Cheek palettes available and before Christmas I bought both Enamored and Ablaze from Muse Beauty during a holiday special. Enamored is the cool toned palette with a light pink crystal highlighter at the top, a matte dusty rose blush in the middle, and is finished with a sheer bronzer. Separately this costs $45, I think I paid around $72 for the duo which included an extra of an Esum shadow brush. Ablaze is the warmer version of the two and has a soft gold highlighter, matte coral blush, and the same sheer bronzer. I’m happy I have both but it’s Enamored that has me, well, enamored.

Viseart Theory packaging (picture: Muse Beauty)

I love the size and packaging of these palettes. If you bought any of the Theory eyeshadow palettes it’s the same packaging. They measure just 2.5″ x 3″ and snap shut with a strong magnetic closure. While it sounds small my blush brush fits in it perfectly without picking up any of the highlighter and/or bronzer. It also has a small mirror so it’s an all-in-one palette and great for on the go. It folds into a small easel too. Grab the Theory Cheek palette of your choice and a Theory eye palette (for Enamored think about these three: Amethyst, Cashmere, or Chroma) and you’ve taken up no room but have a variety of colors to use.

Viseart Theory Cheek Palette in Enamored

Now let’s talk about quality. Actually I don’t need to do that since Viseart is one of the top makeup artist brands available. Ask a professional makeup artist what brand they most love and you’ll hear Viseart over and over again. The 3 products in the palette are a dream to blend. They are silky soft with incredible pigmentation. Most important though is that the color lasts. So many blushes fade away but Viseart knows how to create a product that is long lasting.

Viseart Enamored swatches from Muse Beauty

Viseart Theory Cheek Palette in Enamored

This is more than blush obviously but when working with it you’ll find there’s more variety than it first appears. I wear the pink highlighter over the blush or over the bronzer all the time. It softens the colors and gives it more versatility. Having three colors to use, being able to mix and match, and the sturdiness of the palette makes this easy to put in your cosmetic bag or to use for travel.

Viseart Theory Cheek Palette in Enamored

There’s a lot to admire about this brand: the products contain natural and organic ingredients, it’s cruelty free and they don’t use parabens, gluten, petrochemicals, silicone or mineral oils. But what impresses me most is the reputation of Viseart.

Beloved by Professional Makeup artists on top film sets around the world, Viseart’s high-performance makeup formulas harness the best plant-based resources and innovative technology. The ingredients in our artisanal makeup are carefully balanced to naturally and healthfully create radiant skin and camera beauty.

There are so many blushes available and only one face per person so finding your favorite blush can be make or break your look. I find that Enamored makes my look on the days that I want a cool and sophisticated blush. Have you tried Viseart yet? With a Sephora sale coming soon you should consider adding one to your collection. The palettes are available at Sephora, Muse Beauty, and Beautylish.  —  Marcia

Now how are my favorite bloggers blushing? You’ll want to know.

Put some POW! into New Years EVE with IT Cosmetics!

What to wear for New Years Eve…take a quick trip to Ulta and spend those gift cards that Santa gave you on some IT Cosmetics and you’ll have all the cosmetics you’ll need for superhero-worthy beauty that lasts all night. Of course, you’ll want to pick up my ultimate favorite concealer – I can’t believe it has even surpassed my precious favorite, Bye Bye Undereye (which is still freaking fantastic). I think I love this one even better now that I’m older and my skin is a little dryer, the Bye Bye Undereye Concealing Pot is slightly creamier and man is it good.

samples affiliates Next, use the CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream – no need for any primer – and you have the perfect base for everything else.

IT Cosmetics CC+ Color Correcting Full Coverage Cream

For cheeks, I adore the Bye Bye Pores Blush in Sweet Cheeks, which makes pores disappear. Some blushes seem to settle right into pores and make them look like huge craters – ugh, you know what I mean. This pressed powder does the opposite, leaving skin looking practically poreless thanks to Optical Blurring Technology and anti-aging silk, hydrolyzed collagen, antioxidants and peptides. Sweet Cheeks is such pretty peachy/gold/pink.

Now, let’s talk EYES.  No one does eyes like IT Cosmetics! Their Superhero Palette is, in my humble opinion, outstanding. It’s divided into three sections – one section with very subtle, nude shades, one with what they call neutral shades but they do have more oomph, and one that has lots of drama and can be used as liners. All sections have a lovely buttery texture with lots of pigment and fantastic lasting power.  Marcia did an excellent review of the shades HERE which I won’t repeat, but here are some pics for you:

Nudes Eye Base

The Nudes shades are indeed subtle, and give a very natural but finished look. You can wear them by themselves or else combine them with other colors in the palette.

The Neutrals are beautiful shades are a little more than neutral, really – I think they pack a punch. I love them – particularly the golden shade that plays well with my hazel eyes. Beautiful!

The Liners shades are beautiful. You can use them wet or dry. They are fantastic accents for the crease as well.

IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Superhero Brush

The perfect brush, by the way, for this amazing palette is the IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Superhero Brush ($29). This is an amazing brush totally worthy of its name!! Goodness knows I love a multi-tasker, and this takes multi-tasking to a new extreme.

IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Superhero Brush Liner side

IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Superhero Brush Crease brush

IT Cosmetics Heavenly Luxe Superhero Brush Smudger brush

One side is the liner brush, and the other side slides to become three different brushes – an all-over shadow brush, a crease brush, and a smudge brush. This is the perfect travel brush.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner

IT Cosmetics Superhero Eyeliner swatch

Of course, you also need a superhero worthy eyeliner and IT Cosmetics has that too – the Superhero Liner ($24). This is one of the easiest liquid eyeliners I have ever used. It goes on with the ease of a marker but it still has the power of a liquid liner. It also really lasts without peeling or chipping. The brush is like a felt tip brush and it keeps its quality without fraying or bending.

IT Cosmetics Superhero Mascara wand

Superhero Mascara ($24) finishes out your look with super thick, super long, super black lashes. I love this mascara. It has something called Proprietary Elastic Stretch Technology that I can’t even pretend to understand, but somehow it wraps each lash in a ‘black cape of power and color’ which sounds pretty darn cool. Whatever it does, it makes my lashes look fantastic, which is good enough for me!!

At $14.88 you are getting an amazing amount of cosmetics that you can break up into three gifts, give as one gift, or keep for yourself. Hard Candy is only available at Walmart and since this is a big time to be at Walmart I wanted you to see what you should be searching out.

All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection contains a contour & sculpt kit, a blush & luminizer kit, a smoky eye kit, along with an eyeshadow primer, a perfecting primer, and a setting spray. This fabulous set has just about everything you need. If I were gifting it I’d add in a mascara and a fabulous lip shade. What a perfect gift or gifts.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection: Smoky Eye Kit

This is, of course, the first thing I opened when I received this set. Smoky Eye Kit is terrific with a mix of neutrals and even a drop of purple added. These 9 shades were coordinated to give you a variety of smoked looks. 7 of the 9 are lightly shimmered while two are more satiny.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection: Smoky Eye Kit

The pigmentation in Hard Candy eyeshadows is amazingly good. I have two sets from past years that I pick over my more expensive palettes often. The colors are true to what you see in the pan. They don’t change so you know what you’re getting. The All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection also includes an eyeshadow primer so you are set for beauty.

Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit has what you need to take your face to new places. There are 6 pans in there so you can Prep, Brighten, Contour, Blend, and Illuminate all with one palette.

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

There are 4 cream products and 2 powders. It’s made to help you emphasize eyes, cheekbones, and your jawline. There’s even a tutorial guide on the back that teaches you the best placement.

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

The creams are for prepping, blending, contouring, and illuminating while the two lightly shimmered powders are for brightening and contouring. Some of the shades look too dark for me but the way they blend is perfect so that it’s not obvious at all.

Hard Candy Primer Perfecting

By adding in the Sheer Envy Primer Perfecting you’ve got all you need prior to applying foundation. This primer helps to minimize lines and pores so you have a smoother finish. If you are breaking this kit apart then this is gift two.

The Blush & Luminizer Kit is a true beauty. Housed in metallic red it’s one terrific set.

Blush & Luminizer Kit

All the products are powders: Shimmer Blush in a glorious mauve/pink, Matte blush is a flattering neutral, Matte bronzer is a light bronzer without orange. The Luminizing Bronzer sits beautifully on top of the matte bronzer for a sweep of specialness and can also be used alone. The two Luminizers top off the set with their beauty in a light cream and gold.

Blush & Luminizer Kit

For gift 3 just add in the the Sheer Envy Long Wear Setting Spray to make these products last throughout the day and evening.

Sheer Envy Long Wear Setting Spray

I’m convinced this is the best buy on the market today. You can keep it in its original box and gift it to one person who’ll squeal with delight. Or you can break it apart into 3 gifts that cost you $5 apiece and thrill the recipients.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection

I’m so impressed with the Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection that I think gifting it as one is the way to go but then again I didn’t do well in economics in school. Which way do you want to go? Whatever you choose, go to Walmart to find this limited edition cruelty free collection before it’s gone.  —  Marcia
