Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection

Let’s first bow down to the price of the Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection! At $14.88 you are getting an amazing amount of cosmetics that you can break up into three gifts, give as one gift, or keep for yourself. Hard Candy is only available at Walmart and since this is a big time to be at Walmart I wanted you to see what you should be searching out.

All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection contains a contour & sculpt kit, a blush & luminizer kit, a smoky eye kit, along with an eyeshadow primer, a perfecting primer, and a setting spray. This fabulous set has just about everything you need. If I were gifting it I’d add in a mascara and a fabulous lip shade. What a perfect gift or gifts.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection: Smoky Eye Kit

This is, of course, the first thing I opened when I received this set. Smoky Eye Kit is terrific with a mix of neutrals and even a drop of purple added. These 9 shades were coordinated to give you a variety of smoked looks. 7 of the 9 are lightly shimmered while two are more satiny.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection: Smoky Eye Kit

The pigmentation in Hard Candy eyeshadows is amazingly good. I have two sets from past years that I pick over my more expensive palettes often. The colors are true to what you see in the pan. They don’t change so you know what you’re getting. The All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection also includes an eyeshadow primer so you are set for beauty.

Hard Candy Eyeshadow Primer

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit has what you need to take your face to new places. There are 6 pans in there so you can Prep, Brighten, Contour, Blend, and Illuminate all with one palette.

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

There are 4 cream products and 2 powders. It’s made to help you emphasize eyes, cheekbones, and your jawline. There’s even a tutorial guide on the back that teaches you the best placement.

Hard Candy Contour & Sculpt Kit

The creams are for prepping, blending, contouring, and illuminating while the two lightly shimmered powders are for brightening and contouring. Some of the shades look too dark for me but the way they blend is perfect so that it’s not obvious at all.

Hard Candy Primer Perfecting

By adding in the Sheer Envy Primer Perfecting you’ve got all you need prior to applying foundation. This primer helps to minimize lines and pores so you have a smoother finish. If you are breaking this kit apart then this is gift two.

The Blush & Luminizer Kit is a true beauty. Housed in metallic red it’s one terrific set.

Blush & Luminizer Kit

All the products are powders: Shimmer Blush in a glorious mauve/pink, Matte blush is a flattering neutral, Matte bronzer is a light bronzer without orange. The Luminizing Bronzer sits beautifully on top of the matte bronzer for a sweep of specialness and can also be used alone. The two Luminizers top off the set with their beauty in a light cream and gold.

Blush & Luminizer Kit

For gift 3 just add in the the Sheer Envy Long Wear Setting Spray to make these products last throughout the day and evening.

Sheer Envy Long Wear Setting Spray

I’m convinced this is the best buy on the market today. You can keep it in its original box and gift it to one person who’ll squeal with delight. Or you can break it apart into 3 gifts that cost you $5 apiece and thrill the recipients.

Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection

I’m so impressed with the Hard Candy All Lit Up Cosmetic Collection that I think gifting it as one is the way to go but then again I didn’t do well in economics in school. Which way do you want to go? Whatever you choose, go to Walmart to find this limited edition cruelty free collection before it’s gone.  —  Marcia

Have a beautiful day with Models Own A.M. Kit

Good morning America (and everyplace else), it’s time to get up and face the day and Models Own is here to help. Their A.M. KIT DAYTIME EYES & CHEEK PALETTE is a great one to make you look and feel your best.

Models Own A.M. Kit

samplesaffiliate links

This is a palette that I’d say is more on the cool side of the spectrum but it’s also a neutral palette. It contains 6 eyeshadows and 1 blush. All the shades work so well together making it an easy one to create many looks.

Models Own A.M. Kit

I think of this as the palette I could wear early in the morning for work, yet brighten up for a night out. It’s also a palette I’d keep in a drawer at work since you never know when a great opportunity may arise and you want to improve your looks. (ignore the blush in the picture above since my camera just won’t capture the beauty of it)

Models Own A.M. Kit

What’s wonderful about this palette is that there isn’t a drop of glitter in site. There are 3 matte shades and 3 slightly metallic shadows but no glitter will appear on your eyes.

As you may know, I’m all about eyeshadows, so of course this review is mostly about the eyeshadows!

Models Own A.M. Kit

  1. Creamy beige that has a teeny amount of sparkle in the pan but I don’t see it on my eyes. This is a great lid or brow shade and works with every color in this palette.
  2. A peachy pink matte that is so flattering on. There’s never the appearance of rabbit eyes even though this has a good amount of pink to it. Even though I’m saying it’s a matte there’s no dryness to it.
  3. Metallic shade that is a chameleon. In some lights I see a lot of lavender, in some it looks taupe, and it can even look pink. It changes with the colors that accompany it on my eyes. While it’s a metallic it’s not that shiny once on.
  4. This dark brown applies lighter than it appears. It’s also a metallic in the pan but more of a satin once on your lid. Because I like a dark defining shade on my eyes this is the color that already has a slight dip in it. For me it pulls everything together.
  5. A matte very light nude shade. This highlights my browbone although it works well on the lid and as a light transition shadow.
  6. Another chameleon, this light taupe can look purple or more brown. I’ve worn #3, 5, and 6 together with #4 as a liner and that way it’s more purple. But if I wear #1, 6, and 5 together it all looks more brown.

These shadows need a primer as the pigmentation is lighter than a lot of shadows. Whatever you use to intensify and hold shadow should work well. A good budget brand is Milani Eyeshadow Primer or I like TF Shadow Insurance. I also love this palette with a liquid base like ELF Aqua Beauty Molten Liquid Eyeshadow or Inglot Aquastic Cream Eyeshadow.

Now about the blush – it’s fabulous and I don’t have a good picture of it. It’s a beautiful pinky peach with loads of pigment. And surprisingly the brush in the palette works really well with it. I never find a brush in a palette like this that I like but this one actually is decent even though I prefer a real blush brush.

Models Own A.M. Kit

The blush is much softer and pinker than this picture. It’s a great shade for the palette and for life.

This is one of Models Own better palettes. The shadows are nicely pigmented though not darkly pigmented. They aren’t powdery and I don’t get much fallout from the shadows. They last well all day for me with zero or minimal touchup for night but they absolutely need an eyeshadow primer to show up. The blush is terrific and one I’d love with or without the rest of the palette. It’s very long lasting and very flattering on light to medium skin.

This is an Ulta exclusive and Models Own is often on sale there so keep your eye out for this for yourself or as a gift for a teen just getting into makeup.  —  Marcia

IT Cosmetics has the solution for pores! Bye Bye Pores Illumination and Bye Bye Pores Blush

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Illumination and Bye Bye Pores Blush

Let’s get real – large pores are no fun. I’m always looking for ways to make them disappear from my t-zone. There are lots of products that seem to be that miracle product, but ten minutes later there are those pores again, seemingly bigger than ever. IT Cosmetics is making me a very happy girl these days, however – actually a very happy girl with very smaller looking pores – thanks to Bye Bye Pores Illumination and Bye Bye Pores Blush.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Illumination

Bye Bye Pores Illumination ($29) is the new IT Cosmetics Poreless Finish Airbrush Pressed Powder. It sets makeup, takes away shine and oiliness, and illuminates skin without any shimmer or glitter. It also makes pores look nonexistent! At first I thought this was just an illuminating powder and it does do a great job in that department. But it’s so much more.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Illumination

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Illumination

This pressed powder blurs pores and imperfections, giving a wonderful airbrushed appearance that lasts and lasts. I think the translucent shade will work for all but the darkest skin shades, and the illumination is really beautiful, giving a fabulous glow that is always appreciated. This is one terrific product that everyone needs. Nicely done IT Cosmetics!!

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Blush in Sweet Cheeks

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Blush in Sweet Cheeks

The other pore problem solver is the Bye Bye Pores Blush ($24). I don’t think this one is going to have as many fans as the Bye Bye Pores Illumination. So let’s talk pros and cons. The pros:  yup, it does make pores disappear. Some blushes seem to settle right into pores and make them look like huge craters – ugh, you know what I mean. This pressed powder does the opposite, leaving skin looking practically poreless thanks to Optical Blurring Technology and anti-aging silk, hydrolyzed collagen, antioxidants and peptides. The shade I have, Sweet Cheeks, is a very pretty peachy/gold/pink. So the cons – that shimmer. Just too much shimmer for my middle-aged cheeks. This would be a perfect blush if weren’t for that shimmer!! I think that younger women will love this, but anyone older than 35 will have a tough time, at least with this shade. I am not sure what Je ne Sais Quoi and Naturally Pretty have to offer, but check them out in person. If they are as pretty as their swatches and they are shimmer free, they are probably total home runs.

Wearing IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Illumination and Bye Bye Pores Blush

If you struggle with pore issues, IT Cosmetics has some great problem solving solutions for you. You can find Bye Bye Pores Illumination, Bye Bye Pores Blush, and other IT Cosmetics products online and at Ulta stores.  – Lisa

Our cheeks are rockin and rolling with Eddie Funkhouser

Eddie Funkhouser is the man behind an amazing independent cosmetic company. There’s nothing ordinary about him or about his cosmetics.

Marcia has the pleasure of sharing the Ultra Intensity Cheek Colors

Eddie Funkhouser Ultra Intensity Blush

If you are in the mood for blushes that are soft as silk yet have pigment that goes on for miles then Eddie Funkhouser is your guy. He’s created 4 shades of blush and you’ll have trouble picking out just one, but at only $8.99 each you can splurge a bit so your cheeks will have a radiant flush.

Eddie Funkhouser Plum Crazy

Eddie Funkhouser Plum Crazy

Plum Crazy was the first one I tried of the four and I knew immediately it was a keeper. My personal photos didn’t turn out as accurate as I wish they had but this is a plum shade, not a purple shade. I consider it a cool color yet I wear browns on my eyes most of the time and it looks great. You probably have a dozen lip colors that work perfectly with this blush; I recommend Eddie’s Model Citizen since they make a banging combo.

Eddie Funkhouser Peep Show

Eddie Funkhouser Peep Show

Peep Show is my favorite but it’s making me cry right now as it broke and I now have a beautiful bright pink keyboard. While I lost a lot of it I’m going to try to piece it back together as the color makes me look radiant and healthy.

Eddie Funkhouser Plum Crazy and Peep Show

Peep Show is for those of us who love cool tones on our cheeks. If that’s you, I promise you won’t be sorry.

Eddie Funkhouser Sidestreet Blossom

Eddie Funkhouser Sidestreet Blossom

Eddie didn’t forget about the warm tones and that’s where Sidestreet Blossom comes in. This beauty is a warm peach with some pink undertones. For me Sidestreet Blossom is a universal go to. It’s got enough pink in it to keep my rosy cheeks happy yet it’s perfect for the neutral eyes and lips I wear often. I like it with his Innuendo lipstick but for those who prefer darker shades I’d recommend Foxy Brown.

Eddie Funkhouser A Little Toasted

Eddie Funkhouser A Little Toasted

A Little Toasted has a name that describes it well. It’s like lightly toasted bread with some apricot jam on top. It’s warm but it’s not too warm, if that makes any sense.

Eddie Funkhouser A Little Toasted (top) and Sidestreet Blossom

You won’t go wrong with any of these silky blushes.

Lisa has the pleasure of sharing Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder

Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder

I love a good bronzer, especially one that I can use as a blush, a cheek contour, and even as an eyeshadow…and the Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder, Pyramid Bronze does it all! This is a beautiful multi-purpose cheek powder that is a minimalist’s dream come true.

Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder

Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder

The formula is soft and satiny with just enough shimmer to give skin a lovely glow. Each stripe down is a beautiful shade – creamy white, soft tan, shimmery burgundy, shimmery mauve, and shimmery pink – that also make for lovely soft eyeshadow shades. Swirl a large brush over the whole brick and you get a wonderful bronzey shade that is great for a natural blush color, or swept over high points as a bronzer. Or you can concentrate brush strokes over the middle of the brick for use as a contour under cheekbones and under the chin.

Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder

Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder

Ultra Definition Bronze & Sculpt Powder is a lovely bronzer, blush, contour, highlighter, and a great eyeshadow palette in a pinch. This is definitely one to take traveling or to have in your office drawer!

Eddie Funkhouser never disappoints, and his cheek products are no exception. The formula is terrific, the price is right, the shades are beautiful, and they are so versatile. Way to go Eddie…our cheeks are rocking and rolling and it’s all thanks to you!!

More beauty from Hikari Cosmetics – eyes, lips, and cheeks, oh my!

Last Sunday, Marcia shared her beautiful Hikari products with you – the Jennifer Eyeshadow Palette, Iris Liquid Eyeliner, and Final Touch HD Powder.  This week I have more Hikari to love!  I tested the Jahren Eyeshadow Quad ($15), the Island Glow Blush ($15) and the Fireside Lip Crayon ($13).

Hikari Jahren Eyeshadow Quad

Hikari Jahren Eyeshadow Quad swatches

Jahren Eyeshadow Quad has two satin shadows and two matte shadows.  The names are Sage, Almond, Sable, and Magnetic.  I know which one is Sage, but the others I am not sure about – so I will just go in order top to bottom clockwise!  Top left is Sage, which is a gorgeous satin sage green.  This is a beautiful shade that is especially nice with hazel eyes.  I love it swept underneath bottom lashes – actually a trick Scott Barnes taught me many years ago with a similar shade of green he used to carry.  Next to the green shade is a pretty satin taupe shade.  Love this as a crease or lid shade.  The bottom row has the matte shades, first a light cream that is a great brow shade.  I also use it as an all over wash on days I am in a hurry.  Next to it is a deep chocolate-brown that is perfect for the crease or as a liner.

Hikari Island Glow Blush

Hikari Island Glow Blush swatch

The Hikari Island Glow Blush is a beautiful blush or bronzer.  I wear it as a blush on my low maintenance days, but typically I use it more as a contour.  I sweep it under my cheekbones then put a peachy/pink shade on the apples of my cheeks.  In the FOD pic below I am wearing only Island Glow.  It does give skin a nice glow and it’s tough to overdo this flattering peachy brown.  The Hikari blushes come in nine different shades and I would love to try some of the other shades because I find the texture is great and it really wears well.

Hiraki Fireside Lip Crayon

Hiraki Fireside Lip Crayon swatch

The Hikari Fireside Lip Crayon is really beautiful.  I wasn’t sure I could pull off such a bright color, but I just love this!  Fireside is a matte reddish pink that has some slip.  I put this on and it lasts quite a while.  Most reds turn pink on me, and this is no exception – it leans pink quickly.  It might be different for you based on your body chemistry.  I love the formula, the pigmentation, and the wear.  The Lip Crayons come in ten different shades and I am totally up for trying more of these!

Marcia and I both are very impressed with this cruelty free and PETA certified line.  We are looking forward to checking out more from Hikari, and we hope you are too.  – Lisa

Pixi Pixi Pixi, what summer wonders have you brought?

While the PIXI BEAUTY products I have to share today are wonderful in other seasons, they totally project summer. And we are far from done with this season. Pixi by Petra is always right on with their products and these are some extremely fun items.

Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel Stains

I admit I’m a fool for the 3 Sheer Cheek Gels that Pixi has created. I love cream blush but it’s not always convenient in hot or steamy weather. Instead using these Cheek Stains makes summer life a whole lot easier.

Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel Stains

There are 3 Cheek Gels available ($14) and I think you’re going to want them all.

Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel Stain in Natural

Natural is probably the easiest to wear, it’s a neutral that blends with ease making you look refreshed but not made up.

Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel Stain in Rosy

Rosy is a beautiful rosy stain. It’s my favorite, enough of a favorite that I even used one up completely. I apply this with my finger and at first it looks like it’s going to really stain both my finger and cheeks but it blends into a happy pink that looks like you’ve been out and about and feeling your best.

Flushed Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel Stain

Flushed is scary dark in the tube. It’s the one that I think most people will be surprised by since it looks sort of goth. But once applied and blended you’ll be surprised by the the ease of the plum stain.

Rosy Sheer Cheek Gel Stain

Things to know about these Sheer Cheek Gels: like all Pixi products they are cruelty free. These are also oil free, fragrance free and hypoallergenic. You can build these up if you want but I’d definitely start with just a little bit and blend before deciding how deep to go. They are travel friendly and need no tools. Plus you can use them as a stain on your lips. You are going to love them!

Pixi is available at Target stores and online as well as Pixi’s website. Thanks to Pixi for making sure summer is filled with summer beauty.  —  Marcia

The Heavenly Skin One-Sweep Wonder Brush #705 is a new IT Cosmetics brush. IT Cosmetics does a lot of things right and brushes are a specialty. This brush is flat with dual-fiber hairs and a tapered brush head. The handle is short and designed more for sweeping across the face, not for precision work. It’s great with these palettes. Even if you are a bit ham-handed like me, skin ends up looking soft and glowy. The bristles are treated with anti-aging collagen, silk, peptides, niacin and antioxidants, and you can use this brush to apply everything from liquids to powders and from skin care to color products.

The Confidence In Your Glow powder palettes – interestingly! – smell nice, like oranges. The powder is creamy and blends like a dream. The palettes have a really smooth skin texture and give it a soft, diffused look. I tried to use the different shades within the ombre separately, but that didn’t really work for me…I get the best result just sweeping my brush across the whole palette, which then gives a beautiful color that I can build into a deeper shade if I want.

Nude Glow warms the complexion and is a wonderful bronzer and contour shade. Natural Glow is definitely more of a highlighter/natural blush shade. Warm Glow is a peachy/pink bronzer/blush, and boy is it pretty…I can’t tell you how often I reach for this. I wear Nude Glow to warm up and contour my skin first, then sweep either Natural Glow or Warm Glow onto my cheek bones almost every day.

You can find all three shades of Confidence in Your Glow as well as the Heavenly Skin™ One-Sweep Wonder Brush #705  at IT Cosmetics online and at Ulta. Be sure to pick these up and post your own confident glow, and tag #ITsMyConfidence! – Lisa
