IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer and Bye Bye Breakout Powder

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakcout Full Coverage Concealer and Powder

It doesn’t seem to matter how old I get. Wrinkles? Check. Oily skin? Check. Blemishes? Check. Yes, someone up there has one heck of a sense of humor. I thought by this age I would at least be done with the zits. But nooooo. My blogging partner Marcia was blessed with much nicer skin than I have, so she happily gave me the Bye Bye Breakout products to test – the Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer and the Bye Bye Breakout Powder.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakcout Full Coverage Concealer

The Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer ($28) is a creamy concealer in a jar with a doe foot applicator. This isn’t a concealer for dark undereye circles, although I will make a major confession – I am forever running late so I have been known to use this to conceal whatever needs covering up at the moment. It certainly does conceal, but it’s more of a medium concealer, not full coverage.

It also doesn’t make those blemishes super dry and cracked, which is what I was a little afraid of – ever try drying lotion? I was wary, thinking it might be similar and I thought how in the world could I go through the day with something like that on my skin for everyone to see?? But it’s nothing like that. Ingredients include anti-aging peptides and hydrolyzed collagen, plus oil-absorbing zinc oxide, kaolin clay, witch hazel, tea tree, sulfur and a gentle AHA/BHA complex.

There are seven different shades from which to choose. I like Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Concealer for my localized breakouts, and I think it works even better in tandem with Bye Bye Breakout Powder.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder

The sister product to the Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder ($28), a loose powder that absorbs oil and keeps you shine-free while also preventing new breakouts. There are lots of great ingredients for doing so, including zinc oxide, kaolin clay, witch hazel, colloidal oatmeal, tea tree, sulfur as well as an AHA/BHA complex.

My breakouts are typically localized – I will get one or two on my chin or by my nose. The loose powder is meant to go over the concealer to really finish it and give an airbrushed look, as well as provide more treatment for the inflamed area. Hence, the price – $28 is rather expensive for a loose powder, especially for one that is relatively small when you compare it to the jars offered by other lines, which are about twice the size. But the ones from other lines are basically cornstarch and filler, not treatment, which is why they are cheaper and you get lots more. Now, if you are very blemish prone you can certainly use this as a full face finishing powder and it will do a beautiful job. Just know that since it’s also a treatment product, it’s going to be a bit more expensive for you.

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Breakout Powder swatches, left to right:  Translucent, Light/Medium, Tan/Rich

The shades available are Translucent, Light/Medium, and Tan/Rich. I had to swatch them quite heavily because the shades are actually quite forgiving. Basically, Translucent will work for anyone up to slightly darker than medium skin. If you have medium skin you will probably want the medium shade, and anyone darker than medium should go with the Tan/Rich shade.

I am a huge believer in multi-tasking. If I am going to have products on my face while they are covering up blemishes why not also be treating them and preventing new ones from popping up? That sort of logic definitely speaks to me! You can find Bye Bye Breakout Full-Coverage Treatment Concealer , Bye Bye Breakout Powder, and other IT Cosmetics products online and at Ulta stores.  – Lisa

Clear skin in 28 days with Oxy – or your money back!

Oxy 28 Day ChallengeSponsored post

A few weeks before my youngest daughter’s birthday that put her into teenager status, she came to me all excited…she had her first pimple! We totally celebrated that small bump, welcoming her to the beginning of womanhood. I assured Annie there would be lots more of those bumps to come, and told her she was SO lucky, because we have terrific skin care available to keep them in check. I wanted her to have a great outlook on the changes that are happening to her body and know that all of the changes are something to be excited about because she has a lot of control in areas we never used to have before.

Now that Annie’s hormones have really started to go into overdrive, producing far more oil and sebum than her skin can handle, we are both so happy she started with OXY at the sign of her first breakout. She began her Oxy 28 Day Challenge and has come through with pretty amazing skin. The helpful OXY 28 Day Challenge App has been incredible for her, too – being new to this teen skin care stuff, it’s kept her right on track.

Oxy 28 Day Challenge app

The OXY 28 Day Challenge is simple – just download the OXY® 28 Day Challenge app, answer some questions to get your customized product recommendations, then head to your local drug store to pick up what you need. Use the products for 28 days straight, and if you aren’t happy with the results, OXY will refund your money no questions asked. Not that you will need a refund – my daughter’s skin has never looked better.

Oxy 28 Day Challenge

Annie used these products – OXY Maximum Action Rapid Treatment Face Wash, 3-in-1 Treatment Pads, and Rapid Spot Treatment. She starts with washing her face with the Maximum Action Rapid Treatment Face Wash.

Evanhealy for sensitive, problem skin

Every new decade in life brings different skin issues.  In my teens I battled blemishes and super oily skin.  My twenties brought less frequent acne, but the monthly breakouts were terrible.  My thirties brought fine lines, dry areas, and hyperpigmentation. And my forties?  They have brought me puffy eyes, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sensitive skin…and blemishes yet again!  It’s not easy to find a skin care line that can successfully address all of those woes, but evanhealy makes the grade.

I learned about this line when Marcia first reviewed the Rose Face Care Kit here.  The creator of the line is Evan Healy, an aesthetician, who is extremely passionate about taking a holistic approach to skin care.  All of her products are organic and Vegan, and are based upon traditional plant lore, aromatherapy, homeopathy, and Ayurveda.  The motto of her line is “the skin breathes”.  Every single product is handmade in the U.S. in micro batches.  It’s just a beautiful line inside and out, and I find that many of her products are perfect for me depending on what my crazy mid-forties skin is doing at the moment.

I tried two of her Face Care Kits, which give you smaller sizes of products that last for up to two weeks of use.  It’s a great way to try an assortment of products for a small initial investment.  These kits are also absolutely perfect for travel.

The first kit I tried was the Blue Face Care Kit ($29.95).    This kit has five products that work for sensitive skin, with enough for at least 14 days of treatment.  (Mine actually lasted longer than that – I got at least 20 days out of my kit.)

The products in this kit are:

Blue Lavender Cleansing Milk (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a very gentle, creamy cleanser that doesn’t foam up.  It has white kaolin clay in it, which gets rid of dry skin cells, leaving your skin clear.  The rosehip seed oil helps to moisturize the skin, and it leaves your skin nice and soft.  It has a definite lavender scent, which may be a problem for those with fragrance issues.  It never irritated my skin, not even when my skin was being extremely difficult.

Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosol (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a great, gentle toner that calms, soothes, and hydrates the skin.  It also smells of lavender but it’s softer than the cleanser, and the scent dissipates quickly.

Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum – Blue (4 ml, 0.13 fl.oz)

This serum has a light herbal scent that takes a while to dissipate.  The serum feels very silky, not oily at all, and it’s full of omega-3 and -6 essential fatty acids, as well as Vitamins A and C.  It smooths fine lines and wrinkles, and it helps to fade hyperpigmentation as well as scars.  I find it to be incredibly healing, particularly on fading blemishes.

Blue Chamomile Day Moisturizer (5 ml, 0.17 fl.oz)

This has a very light, barely noticeable herbal scent.  It’s a great moisturizer for blemished areas because it gives the hydration the skin needs without clogging the pores.  It really does calm red, irritated skin and leaves it feeling super soft.

Green Tea Clay (3 gm, 0.1 oz)

This little jar is full of dry Green Tea Clay that you mix with water to form a paste.  I love that it’s the dry ingredients, so there’s no worry that the mask will dry out in the jar before you can use it all.  This mask absorbs excess oil, draws blemishes and blackheads to the surface and gets rid of the bacteria causing the breakouts.  It also exfoliates the skin and calms red, irritated areas.  It’s a terrific mask that is particularly effective when you use it right after a facial steam bath.

The second kit I tried was the Blemish Face Care Kit ($33.95).  Even though this is billed for teens, I need it as my skin breaks out at least once a month, sometimes more often.  The five products in this box are supposed to last for seven to ten days of treatment, but like the Blue Kit, I got many more than ten days out of it.

The products in this kit are:

Tea Tree Gel Cleanser (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a pH balanced non-soap cleanser.  You only need a tiny bit, it makes a light foam that really deep cleans and helps disinfect the skin.  It has a very slight herbal scent that dissipates immediately.  When my skin is breaking out, I mix a little of this with the Green Tea Clay mask and some water for a terrific cleansing exfoliation.

Orange Blossom Facial Tonic Hydrosol OR Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosol (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

Due to limited season availability of the Orange Blossom Tonic, the Lavender Tonic may be substituted.  In my Face Kit, I got the Lavender Tonic, which is reviewed above.

Pomegranate Repair Serum (4 ml, 0.13 fl.oz)

This serum has a little heavier feel to it than the Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum reviewed above.  It’s pretty amazing stuff – somehow it manages to moisturize dry areas, yet also treat blemishes so they heal up quickly.  It leaves your skin silky smooth.  It’s full of anti-oxidents and is great for calming down inflamed, irritated skin.

Green Tea Clay (3 gm, 0.1 oz)  This is the same mask as the one in the Blue Face Care Kit, and is reviewed above.

Blemish Treatment Roll-On (5 ml, 0.17 fl.oz)

This is a great blemish treatment that is free of drying alcohol.  It disinfects blemishes without irritating and aggravating the skin.  It’s very gentle yet effective.

If you are looking for a skincare line, look into evanhealy. The fact that they have these try me kits makes it perfect to know what works for you without shelling out a lot of money. Both if these kits worked for me and the Rose Face Care Kit worked for Marcia so it’s thumbs up from the BIZ.– Lisa

First Aid Beauty

Don’t you just love the name of this line?  Who hasn’t felt like they needed some first aid skin care?  I was totally geeked when products from this line arrived.  And I have to say, I wasn’t disappointed.

My favorite product is the Face Cleanser ($18.00 for a 5 oz. tube). This is a huge tube, and you need just a bit to cleanse your whole face.  I love how it removes every speck of makeup, but doesn’t leave your face dry and tight.  It’s one of the best cleansers I have ever used.  It heals, soothes, provides protection from free radicals, as well as a barrier to harsh conditions.  It’s a great price for so much cleanser, and it really does work.  This is my top pick from the line.

My next favorite product is the 5-in-1 Face Cream SPF 30 ($38.00 for a 1.7 fl. oz. jar).  It’s a bit more spendy than any other item in the line, but it does do quite a bit – five things, in fact!  First, it helps prevent wrinkles and it also plumps up the ones you already have.  Second, it helps to correct uneven skin tone.  Third, it provides an SPF of 3o.  Fourth, it moisturizes your skin.  And finally, it protects against free radicals.  That’s a lot for a daily moisturizer to do!  I love the sanitary pump, and the moisturizer is an elegant, soothing, light lotion that is easy to spread and sinks in right away.  This works terrific with my combination skin.

Another interesting product is the Detox Eye Roller ($24.00 for a 0.34 fl. oz. jar).  This is like nothing I have ever tried.  The liquid is in a glass tube, and there is a metal roller ball at the top.  The metal ball is always cool, which helps to reduce any puffiness you may have.  It has caffeine to help reduce puffiness and also dark circles.  Plus, it contains ingredients to reduce those fine lines and combat free radicals.  I find that I still like an eye cream over this formula, but I love the roller ball and the cooling effect that it gives.

Another great product is the Blemish Eraser ($16.00 for  a 0.5 oz. tube).  Now, some spot treatments just don’t work for me at all, like Clinique’s Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel.  Check out my full review here.  However, I found that the First Aid Beauty blemish treatment works great for me.  I guess that Benzoyl Peroxide is a better acne fighter for my skin.  I like to put this on blemishes first and then let it dry.  Once it dries it has a matte finish to it.  If you try to use your other skin products before this one is dry, it feels kind of grainy.  It doesn’t seem to affect the performance, but it’s a texture issue for me.  Regardless, it is an excellent spot treatment and I reach for it quite often.

First Aid Beauty is a really terrific, affordable line.  I am not listing ingredients in the interest of space, but First Aid Beauty has a terrific, easy to navigate website and the ingredient lists are super easy to find.  This brand is available at Sephora and also online here.  Take a look – it’s first aid for your face!!  – Lisa
