Unboxing The Zoe Report Box of Style

The Zoe Report Box of StyleWho doesn’t want a stylist? I know when something looks great but I’m not always the best at actually finding the items and picking them out. Probably the most famous stylist with a terrific eye for the latest and greatest is Rachel Zoe. Since it’s not likely that I will ever actually be styled by Rachel, The Zoe Report Box of Style is a fabulous alternative.                                                                        sample

Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe

Here’s how you know this box of fashion and beauty is incredible – every single box has sold out since Box of Style launched in March 2015. The Zoe Report Editor-in-Chief, Rachel Zoe, and her team of editors curate 5 full-sized products that are worth over $400. I am not kidding, this box is one ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ after another. Here’s the general info first, then I’ll give you the scoop on the current box.

You can get each individual box for $100, or subscribe for the year for $350.  The yearly price is worth the investment because you are guaranteed the box, and the spring box alone has over $400 worth of product in it. Each box has a ‘hero’ piece that is worth over $100. Women who will love this box are those who love fashion and style but just don’t have time to shop for the latest items. If you are into upscale style at a great price, or if you want to venture outside your typical comfort zone but don’t want to invest in a personal stylist, this is the perfect way to meet all those wants and spoil yourself without breaking the bank.

The Zoe Report Box of Style Spring 2017

The Zoe Report Box of Style Spring 2017

What is special about the Spring 2017 Edition?  Every single brand was founded by a woman! Total girl power. The products are valued at over $400 and they are absolutely obsession grade. There are two exclusive collaborations that you can only find in Box of Style, collaborations that have given jobs and skills to hundreds of women in India. The box is all about EMPOWERMENT – everything is made by women to empower other women to live a life of style! I love that this collection has everything needed to take you from work to the weekend. It’s a fantastic collection and I am just beyond thrilled with it. Ok, so now let’s get into the gorgeous details, shall we??

There are three fashion items – the Tribe Alive Custom Carryall ($238), the Adornemonde Iva Earrings ($62), and the Symbology Scarf ($50).

The Tribe Alive Custom Carryall is the ‘hero’ piece, a chic purse that is the perfect size – not so large that it overwhelms a small frame, but big enough for a last-minute shopping trip to Whole Foods. It’s super versatile too. I find that it is dressy enough for work, yet it also works as my bag for my yoga essentials. I love the juxtaposition of the colorful print with the tan strap and handles. This bag was made by women in India who could have otherwise ended up in the sex trade. Instead, the women are given skills and safe employment by Tribe Alive founder Carly Burson.

A great compliment to the Tribe Alive Custom Carryall is the Symbology Scarf. This is a gorgeous peacock-inspired print in gold and berry that can be worn around the neck, wrist, or tied to the strap of your purse. I love it paired with the Tribe Alive Custom Carryall.  The Symbology company was founded by Marissa Heyl after an inspirational trip to India.

The third fashion item is the adorable multi-tasking Adornmonde Ivo Convertible Earrings. Some boxes have the gold version, some have the silver version. Happily, mine had silver which is my preference. These earrings are a great twist on the classic hoop. You can also wear just the bar for a completely different look. Rachel suggests getting edgy and wearing the bar on one ear and the hoop on the other. Adornmonde is a chic jewelry line with LE pieces owned by Niki Allworth.

There are two beauty items in the Spring 2017 Box of Style:  Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder ($65) and Butter London Piece of Cake Nail Polish ($18).

Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder

Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder

I’m a big fan of the Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder.  Mixed with warm water or your cleanser, this is a wonderful exfoliant that removes dead skin and unclogs pores. It leaves skin soft and glowing. Since it’s a powder, you never have to worry about it expiring either. Victoria Tsai created this line which is inspired by the beauty rituals of Geisha’s.

How perfect is the Butter London Piece of Cake Nail Polish? Pretty pink perfect. This is a fantastic soft, neutral pink that makes for a classy and chic manicure. I could wear this shade every day for a year. I don’t think I ever knew that Butter London was founded by two fierce females, Sasha Muir and Nonie Creme.

An essential for beauty is lots and lots of clean water and The Zoe Report Box of Style has you covered with the last two items:  the BKR Glass and Silicone Water Bottle ($35) and the Stella Artois Chalice ($13).

I love the feminine look of the BKR Glass and Silicone Water Bottle and the silicone outer covering just feels awesome in your hands. The BKR line was created by Tal Winter and Kate Cutler as a response to cheap and definitely not chic plastic water bottles. Hydration is a necessity, so why not do it in style?

The final item, which is actually the ‘bonus’ item in the Spring 2017 Box of Style, is the Stella Artois Chalice. It’s a gorgeous chalice, and every LE chalice that is sold provides an incredible 5 years of clean water for one person in the developing world. Once you pour yourself a drink, be sure to leave your mark at BuyALadyaDrink.com.

I can’t rave enough about The Zoe Report Box of Style. It is a fantastic collection of obsession-worthy items and this collection in particular is amazing because it’s all about girl power. Looking for a little luxury for the holidays? Look at these incredible beauty products

TOP TEN TUESDAY is all about Luxury today. We’ve all done our affordable wishlists, stocking stuffers, and helped you pick out some new items. So now it’s time to make a real wish for luxury. You never quite know when those wishes will come true!!

1450057833__11337282TOM FORD LIPS AND BOYS 10 LIPSTICK SET ($350). Tom Ford lipsticks are my all time favorite brand. They do keep raising the price on these but I can’t seem to resist them. The Lips and Boys lipsticks luckily are less money at $35 each but they are a lot smaller. I don’t really care. I never use up a lipstick and if I can wear one that makes me feel this good, I will splurge on it. For a limited time Tom Ford came out with this 10 Lipstick Set that contains Ian, Beau, Julian, Addison, Leonardo, Demsey, David, Egon, Daniel and Theo. You’ll get a touch of everything with this luxurious set.

1450057884__10998098CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN SILKY SATIN LIP COLOR ($90) is the lipstick that dreams are made of. It was certainly a revelation to the cosmetic world when Christian Louboutin chose to charge $90 for a lipstick. I wouldn’t wear it as a necklace even though it comes with a black satin ribbon for that purpose but I sure wouldn’t mind pulling this lipstick out at a soiree.
1450057940__9515423CHARLOTTE TILBURY THE UPTOWN GIRL SET ($230) will bring you a touch of so many products that Charlotte Tilbury gets raves for. There are several sets and all are gorgeous. I chose The Uptown Girl since it has colors I know I can comfortably wear. Inside this lovely set are The Uptown Girl eyeshadow palette, eyeliner in Audrey, Full Flat Lashes Mascara, Cheek to Chic Blush in Love Glow, Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pink Venus, K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Bitch Perfect, Lip Lustre Lip Gloss in Sweet Stiletto all nestled in a Charlotte Tilbury Cosmetic Bag.
1450058003_kevyn-aucoin-the-legacy-paletteKEVYN AUCOIN THE LEGACY SET ($165) reminds me of how much I loved Kevyn Aucoin’s amazing talent and products. This new palette includes the Celestial Powder in Candlelight, The Sculpting Powder in Medium, The Essential Eye Shadows in Ice Gold, Champagne, Wheat, Camel, Coco, Dark Chocolate, Beige, Peach, Light Grey, Pewter, Espresso, and Black. Kevyn Aucoin was before his time when he came out with the Candlelight Powder which was the first luminizing powder I ever bought.
1450058060_wayne-goss-the-anniversary-setWAYNE GOSS THE ANNIVERSARY SET ($225) is the brush set that I really want. Anyone in my family reading this please take note!! The Anniversary Set includes an updated release of the popular Brush 01 (limited edition) and introduces the new Brush 05 which will become a permanent addition to The Collection. Sigh!
1450058153_charlotte-tilbury-complete-brush-kitCHARLOTTE TILBURY THE COMPLETE BRUSH KIT ($320) is something that would also make my heart go pitter patter. I love brushes and in spite of owning more than anyone could use, I still covet them. This set contains a CT makeup bag, lip brush,  eyeliner brush, eyeshadow smudger brush, eye blender brush, foundation brush, powder & sculpt brush, blush brush and bronzer brush. There’s nothing like luxury brushes.

1450058321__9413718CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN ROUGE COLLECTION NAIL LACQUER is available in a dozen colors and I’m sure they are wonderful and luxurious but they are $50 each. If someone wants to buy me one, I’m game! I promise to wear it often too.

1450058449__11271685LA MER THE TREATMENT ESSENTIALS ($415) is a limited edition set that contains Creme de La Mer Moisturizing Cream, Regenerating Serum, Eye Concentrate, and the Treatment Lotion. When I first started using Creme de La Mer it blew my budget and now I realize it’s not the most expensive brand out there. So consider this as the “save”.

1450058747_giftsets_superdeluxe__35755.1430427073.380.380ERA AGELESS LUXURY SET – I might as well go for the top of the line. I reviewed the ERA AGELESS EYE SERUM and loved it enough that I’m craving the line even though it’s out of my current budget. But since this is a wishlist then this $2165.99 set (on sale from $2549.95) would make me quite happy. It contains the Firm & Lift Serum, Age Defying Moisture Cream, Elastin and Beta Carotene Mask, Triple Thermal Mask and the Powerful Deep Wrinkle Filler. ERA Ageless has other less expensive sets too that would make me just as happy.

Beauty shopping at Meijer with mPerks

BeautyPerksTier1Banner_042615

If you are lucky enough to live in a state with Meijer stores then you might already know about their mPerk program. I shop there and for so long I ignored the mPerk program mainly because I didn’t understand it. I’m so sorry that I didn’t know because I was throwing out money all the time by not being a member. Once Meijer explained what it was, I’ve been using it all the time.

Let’s learn about mPerks. It’s so easy to join. You can either do it on your computer or tablet or through the Meijer mobile app. I signed up on my computer using my 10 digit phone number and my email address. Now I get emails and texts to alert me to ways I can save. As I’m typing this I notice an email that this weekend I could get 5% off groceries and 10% off general merchandise (like beauty!!) and apparel. I take advantage of this all the time plus I look at the Beauty Perks offers and “clip” their coupons. It’s all digital so I don’t have to carry around coupons that I’ll lose and/or rip. When I’m at the Meijer checkout, I enter my phone number and the savings are automatically added to my bill. I love easy!!!! Even my husband now knows about mPerks and uses my phone number to enter there.

Meijer sent a few things that you can find in their beauty aisles and save on through May 16th plus I picked up a few too.

Here are a few of my favorite coupons that I virtually clicked to get my savings:

$2 off any 1 Essie polish. I love this shade, Petal Pusher, described as “refreshing cool rain slate with subtle red and blue undertones”. But if that’s not available, I can be persuaded to find another gorgeous Essie.

Essie Petal Pusher nail polish

$1 off any brand of Oral Care like Listerine, Colgate Optic White or Crest 3-D Whitestrips. The best thing with this particular coupon is that it’s a store coupon so I can use any manufacturer’s coupons in addition to this one. In addition there’s a 50 cent one for Listerine that I can use in conjunction with the $1 one.

Oral health care found at Meijer

$4.00 off 2 Maybelline NY eyeshadows and mascaras. My pick is the new Lash Sensation mascara since I’ve been wanting to try it. Plus it was already on special in the store so this just added to my savings.

To top it off, Meijer is always adding on new coupons. Right now I’m signed up for $5 off $25 in Beauty which is the icing on this cake.

Sunday Spotlight on Beauty Blogs part 2

My pet peeve with beauty blogs is when I feel that I’m just reading an advertisement. Too many days I get the exact same blog post with the exact pictures and descriptions that come straight from the company. That’s not my idea of a blog. It’s not that you won’t find products on the BIZ that we’ve gotten from the companies to review but we strive to not be their advertisers. We use everything we review. There are times we get a product for review purposes and don’t review them since we don’t have anything exciting to say about those products. We try to spotlight what we’ve used and liked with honesty. The following blogs are all ones that I trust for this very reason. They actually review the products. They are not company shills. I hope you’ll find some newbies in today’s post.

The Beauty Look Book fascinates me. Sabrina, the owner, has totally different coloring than I do and most of what she buys probably wouldn’t work for me but I look forward to her blog. First I think she has the most gorgeous lips. I wish I had her lips. Second her pictures are fabulous. She takes the best pictures and then she shows us all the items she has in the same color family. Between the actual photos of her products and her comparison swatches you have such a clear picture of the shades and variations. She’ll either save you money or create lemmings. Probably a little of both.

I adore Pink Sith. Adore it! Elvira and her friend JoeyBunny crack me up. They have the funniest writing styles. Their introductions to reviews make me wish I had their skills. Her Thursday Poll makes me wish every day was Thursday. If you like taupe eyeshadow and you don’t know about Pink Sith you need to subscribe to this blog instantly. Joey Bunny has also started her own blog, The Eyes Have It, but I think she’s more active on Pink Sith than her own actually.

Gouldylox is a girl after my own heart. She is such a cutie pie. I love when she has pictures of herself on the blog. She always gives honest opinions of products. She’ll go the extra mile for her readers (using products on one half of her face for example). She’s a blogger that I think I’d be friends with if I met her in person.

Jeanie from Makeup Merriment has been a good friend for years. She has had a blog for a long time but never really shared it. Once I found out though I made it my business to publicize her blog. She’s got beautiful eyes and I love seeing her eye makeup looks. I always enjoy her nail polish posts because she’s more daring than I am and wears some beautiful shades. Plus she is one of the kindest women in the universe.

If there’s anyone reading that doesn’t know about THE ARM, I’d be surprised. KarlaSugar has inspired me to purchase so many products. She has swatching skills that are supreme. I’m not sure what the online beauty world would do without Karla.

I can say the same for Temptalia. This woman is only incredible. Her photography skills are amazing. Her reviews are amazing. There’s a reason she’s the most popular blog. I’m sure you’ve all seen her blog but if you haven’t, go there ASAP.

I’d love to hear your comments on these blogs and on blogs I should be reading myself. I’m eager to spotlight more blogs in the future and have a list started but the more the merrier. — Marcia

Sunday Spotlight on Beauty Blogs

I love beauty blogs. Before Lisa and I decided to create Beauty Info Zone I studied all the ones I could find. For the next few weeks I’ll be posting about some of my very favorites. If they aren’t ones that you’ve discovered yet, what are you waiting for??

Prime Beauty is one that has impressed me from the day I found it. Cindy, the owner, is a beautiful writer and one of the nicest women I’ve become acquainted with on the internet. A few weeks back we were privileged to share her Stila Smudge Pencil review with you. Her blog is one that I trust and believe fits our reader’s profile.

Best Things in Beauty is another favorite of mine. I get lots of blogs in my email and in my RSS feed and as soon as I see Best Things in Beauty I have to read it. Charleston Girl’s tastes are very similar to mine so maybe that’s what I love about her blog but even if I don’t buy some of the same items I love her honest descriptions.

What can I say about London Makeup Girl? Just that I love Grace and her beautiful blog. Grace is a fitting name for this lovely lady because she’s the epitome of grace. Not only is she lovely to look at but her pictures and looks are incredibly helpful. She’s created a ton of lemmings for me and everyone I know. I’m happy to say that I’ve “known” Grace for years through emakemeup.com. She reviews there as well and we’ve become friends but even if I hadn’t known her from there I’d be extremely impressed.

Another lovely lady that I’ve “met” because of emakemeup.com is S. B. of New York City Pretty. I always enjoy her blog posts. Her taste is beautiful yet simple. She doesn’t cave to the newest products (unlike me!!). She buys classic yet updated stunners and shares her love of cosmetics in her wonderful blog.

Two blogs that aren’t reviews are ones I want to share with you. The first is Free!Grechen. What a find this is. Grechen’s blog is all about contests and codes for fashion and beauty. She is the one we always use when we have a new contest on the BIZ. I’ve been able to enter so many incredible contests through her blog and have learned about many other blogs because of her. Don’t just rely on her emails though, go to her site for all the coupon codes.

The last for today is GWP Addict. This blog informs you every single day of every beauty coupon code, sale, gift with purchase throughout the United States. If you can’t find it on GWP Addict, then it doesn’t exist.

GWP Addict

I hope you’ve enjoyed batch one of my favorites. I’ll be sharing more in the next few weeks including a week of my favorite nail blogs. I’d love to learn about other blogs so if you have a favorite, please please please comment here and inform us of some of yours. – Marcia

Browsing with Senna

No one does brows as well as Senna.  I reviewed their Form-A-Brow kit in an earlier post, you can read about it here.  I use the Form-A-Brow every single day now – I wouldn’t ever be without it.  Senna has some other fabulous brow products that I use daily that I felt needed their own separate review.

For a very long time, I pretty much ignored my brows.  Every once in a while I would brush them up, but other than that I just didn’t think about them.  Then last year, I had my brows done by the fabulous Yolanda from Classified Cosmetics.  I realized how much of a difference brows can make in your look – and I started a quest to find the perfect brow products for me.

Luckily, after trying many products that didn’t do much, I finally came across Senna brow products.  Now I always have gorgeous, perfect brows.

In addition to the Form-A-Brow kit, here are the other Senna brow products that I will never again be without:

First, they have a fabulous brow brush.

It’s called the Double Brow Brush ($20), and it has a spoolie at one end for brushing the brow hair and a brush end for applying color.  I love double-ended brushes, one less brush to have to find in my makeup drawer!!  The spoolie is perfect also for applying my next favorite product, the Brow Definer ($18).

This is a pomade that adds fullness and texture to your brows, and helps to keep them in place.  On weekdays, I use the Form-A-Brow kit to define and shape my brows, then I dip the spoolie end of the Double Brow Brush into the Brow Definer.  I brush it through my brows, and then smooth with my finger.  It helps to make the color look perfect, and it gives your brows a fabulous, defined look that stays in place all day.

On weekends, I am much more relaxed in terms of makeup, but I still want nice looking brows.  I find that the Browfix ($18) in Golden Brown is perfect for my needs.

Browfix is a gel that you brush through your brows with a spoolie, which deposits color (if you choose a colored version, they also have clear) and keeps your brows in place.  First, I brush my eyebrows up with the spoolie end of the Double Brow Brush, and trim where needed.  The Brow Scissors ($16) are perfect for this.

Then, I just brush some Browfix through my eyebrows, and they look sleek and polished, and stay in place all day long.

If you are serious about your brows, you really need to check out Senna.  And, if you are serious but don’t have much time to fuss with your brows, check out Senna!  Browse through their brow products,  they have first class products for every need.  – Lisa
