The past few months have been pretty exciting at my house as we are undergoing a major renovation. All of the construction is being done by my husband Kevin, who is a carpenter and a builder. Each day brings something new…typically along with lots and lots of dust. Every single night we are faced with a big mess that is mostly drywall dust, so I was thrilled when Swiffer sent us two Swiffer Wet Jets – one for us, and one for another dad who isn’t afraid to tackle big messes!
We decided to transform a huge first floor bathroom into a much-needed pantry and a smaller bathroom. The pantry is amazin, and our new bathroom is Arts and Crafts style with an oval window and a vintage desk that Kevin turned into the vanity for the sink. Oh, also…total replacement of old carpet with real wood floors.
Dust and dirt are a constant hazard of my husband’s job as a construction manager. Over the years Kevin has brought home his workplace “no sweat mentality” and insists on helping keep the house as clean as he keeps all of his jobs. He is a great role model for our son and our daughters.
Kevin was a total #SwifferDad when I gave him the Swiffer Wet Jet! In fact, he told me that in the building trades everyone swears by Swiffer because it’s not only great for dust clean up in general, it’s also the very best for lead dust clean up. My husband says that Swiffer is actually specifically named in the clean up manuals.
Inside the Swiffer Big Green Box, we found a Swiffer Wet Jet, Wet Jet Refills, and a Wet Jet Pad Refill.
My husband immediately claimed the Swiffer for himself and got busy sweeping up the new bathroom flooring. My mom tells stories of how my dad never even changed a diaper because that was ‘women’s work’ and it is amazing how much things have changed. Stereotypes are still around, but according to the Swiffer Cleaning Index, dads today are pitching in nearly two times more than their dads did.
With my husband helping around the house, we both can spend more quality time with the kids and with each other. That is what is called the #SwifferEffect!
In addition to a box for us, we were also sent a Swiffer Green Box to share with another dad. Kevin surprised Sean, a friend who works with him and has a family of his own.
Sean broke it in at work, then took it home so he could help clean up and then indulge in some quality family time.
Swiffer is unveiling its #SwifferDad video to celebrate dads as role models for clean, and to illustrate the positive influence a father’s “behind the clean” moments have with his family.
