I am a total nut for acne lines these days. No, it’s not because I am a teenager…although I do kiss anyone who cards me…ironically, as a teen I had very few skin issues. It’s because of those horrible hormonal changes and the side effects that come with them, which include acne.
Skin care isn’t a joke – if our makeup is going to look good, our skin needs to look good. There are tons of acne systems out there, and one I have tried and loved recently is CoralActives. This is great stuff, and it’s extremely affordable. CoralActives uses a higher percentage of benzoyl peroxide to kill the bacteria that causes acne, as well as Sea Whip Coral Extract to soothe and control the side effects of acne like inflammation and redness.
My skin loves benzoyl peroxide so high concentrations of that are a big draw for me. But what in the world is Sea Whip Coral Extract?
Sea Whip Coral Extract is a soft coral from the Caribbean. It’s a natural anti-inflammatory extract that is wonderful for the skin and is environmentally friendly.
CoralActives says, “Clinical studies have shown that Sea Whip Extract has both anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties when topically applied to the skin. Sea Whip has been found to inhibit 90% of the inflammatory enzyme, phospholipase. This enzyme is the foundation of the skin’s inflammation response that leads to signs of redness and discomfort. Sea Whip Extract has also been shown to assist the skin to repair itself. It is a natural solution for sensitive and irritated skin.”
Another important point – Sea Whip Coral Extract is a renewable resource.
“Colonies of Sea Whip Coral have been researched by independent scientists since before 1990, and consistently monitored since 1996. Their studies, as well as the records of the exclusive harvester show that the coral extract has been collected in a sustainable manner that has consistently resulted in complete re-growth.”
A great buy that will give you the basics you need is the CoralActives Cleanser and Serum Combo Kit ($29.95). Here’s what I found with prices for all products when purchased individually:
First up is the Retinal Exfoliating Cleanser ($18.95)
If you want good skin that acne-free, you start here, with cleansing. Cleansing should be done every night, and if your skin is prone to acne, another cleansing in the morning is usually a great idea. You want to remove makeup, oil, and bacteria, all things that clog pores, but you don’t want to over cleanse and further irritate the skin. So it’s important to have a gentle cleanser that also really works.
This cleanser is full of tiny beads that contain Retinol. As you cleanse your skin, the beads burst and the Retinol, a pure form of Vitamin A, heals the skin as it’s cleansed. Retinol promotes collagen production, reduces wrinkles, cleans out pores, and evens out skin texture. Add in the Sea Whip Coral Extract to heal and reduce inflammation and redness and it’s a winning combination.
When I use this, I get my face wet, then put some Retinol Exfoliating Cleanser into my hands. I rub them together, which pops those tiny beads, then cleanse and rinse. Some of the tiny beads don’t pop until I am actually cleansing, which acts as a gentle exfoliant. It’s terrific.
Next comes the Penetrating Acne Serum Gel ($22.95).
CoralActives says the Penetrating Acne Serum Gel has basically four ingredients:
- 6% Benzoyl Peroxide; to kill bacteria
- Sea Whip Extract; to help your inflamed skin.
- Humectants; to attract water from the atmosphere onto your skin
- Emollients; to retain the moisture on your skin
This serum soaks in quickly and is extremely effective – it gets rid of acne without drying out your skin. I use this on acne-prone areas in the evening and it works.
Finally, the third product that will finish your skin care routine is the Moisturizer for Acne-Prone Skin ($12.95).
The CoralActives Moisturizer for Acne-Prone Skin continues the fight against acne while also moisturizing your skin. It has Tea Tree Oil to fight bacteria and infection, Licorice Extract to fight excessive oil production, Copaifera Officinalis Resin, Carapa Guaianensis Seed Oil, and Euterpe Oleracea Pulp Oil as anti-oxidants, Olive Leaf Extract as an anti-inflammatory, and Glucosamine HCL – Algae Extract – Yeast Extract – Urea as natural exfoliants.
It’s a light, elegant moisturizer that feels terrific on the skin. It works for even the most sensitive yet broken out skin, soothing irritation and providing moisture without instigating breakouts. It’s marvelous.
And a final product – the Acne Cleansing Bar ($7.95).
Acne isn’t limited to your face – chest and back acne (aka ‘bacne’) is horrible! I love that CoralActives has an answer to that. The Acne Cleansing Bar is dynamite. It really knocks out body acne without over drying and stripping the skin. Ingredients include 10% benzoyl peroxide to kill acne-causing bacteria, coconut oil to support healing, Vitamin A to reduce cell damage, Vitamin E as an antioxidant, and shea butter to moisturize and leave skin super soft.
So, if like me, you are ticked because you are plagued with both acne and wrinkles, check out CoralActives. Your acne won’t thank you, but your skin will. – Lisa
