Get a little holiday glow with Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse

There are lots of reasons why it’s a good idea to use a faux-tanner in the winter months. The best reason is that if you do, you end up looking exactly like this:

Yup, that's me. NOT!
Yup, that’s me. NOT!

Ok, wake up! We were all dreaming there for a second.

Seriously though, a great faux-tan will serve you in many ways. It gives a great glow to sallow, dull skin. It takes care of uneven skin tone and it can even make you look thinner. Vita Liberata, a self-tanner line from Northern Ireland available online and at Sephora, sent their Tinted Self Tan Mousse in Sheer ($37.50) to try.

Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse
Yes, it’s called ‘Sheer’ – but this gives serious color

Most self tanners I use are in lotion form, so the concept of a self tanning mousse was appealing to me. That ten minutes of standing there naked waiting for faux-tanning lotion to dry is never much fun. Vita Liberata Tinted Self Tan Mousse dries so quick I was astonished – there isn’t a lot of play time, that’s for sure. It is an extremely light mousse that most certainly dries on contact. There is no waiting around after application, go ahead and put some clothes on!

Application is very easy. Make sure skin is completely dry – whatever you do don’t use a moisturizer first. The guide color sinks in so quickly you will want to use a tanning mitt and not your bare hands.  As with any self-tanner, be careful around areas that can get too dark like hands, feet, ankles, knees, and elbows.

The guide color is easy to use and makes application much more precise. The ‘Sheer’ name is misleading as it actually gives an instant beautiful golden medium tan that lasts for four or five days. Because the mousse is extremely hydrating, it leaves skin feeling wonderfully soft. And I found that the color fades naturally with no flaking or patchy spots anywhere.

Another huge bonus – this doesn’t smell like anything at all to me. Most self-tanners have that distinctive scent but Vita Liberata Self Tan Mousse is definitely odorless. It also has no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, gluten, or oil, and it is cruelty-free.

I really love this self-tanner. I think the mousse is extremely easy to use and the results are gorgeous. This fantastic product has gone right to the top of my favorite faux-tanner list.  – Lisa
