Color Me Monthly brings Polaris down to earth

Each subscription service that you purchase has something unique about it. Color Me Monthly is one that has won my heart. This is a nail subscription box ($7 a month, $40 for 6 months, $75 for a year) that not only is cruelty free and environmentally friendly but they create unbelievable polishes. Each polish I’ve tried from them has been distinctive and the color truly timely.

For January Color Me Monthly (CMM) sent a polish called Polaris. I’d love to be able to put into words the beautiful variety of shades that this projects. Polaris is the night star that is there for us every single evening aka the North Star. It’s the one that sailors counted on to help guide the way. It’s the brightest star in the constellation Ursa Minor. Polaris nail polish from Color Me Monthly is the brightest of all the stars I’ve received from them.

Polaris is a metallic shade (and I adore metallic polishes) that changes from blues to grays and all the beautiful shades in between. Each light I’m in shows a different aspect of the color. Outside in the sun (a rarity of late) I especially see the blue tones of it. In fluorescent light I see a little teal or a stunning sky blue. At night I see charcoal. It’s absolutely beautiful. Color Me Monthly’s description – a complex blend of bright and dark silvery shimmer. The shimmer is fabulous because it’s subtle. Yes, subtle shimmer; no glitter; totally work appropriate.

This is my third polish from Color Me Monthly and the wear on these is terrific. I change color once a week and these last for the full week. I don’t get chipping or fading. I often find shades I love when I’m out shopping but too often those don’t make it through the week. As much as I admire and would love to be a nail blogger, I really want to know about the long term quality of a polish and I don’t get that from many nail bloggers. I don’t have the time nor the skill to change polish daily or even several times a week. My polish needs to last through whatever the week is going to dish out to me – dishes, housekeeping, diaper changing, tons of handwashing! Color Me Monthly comes through.

They’ve recently added in a Base Coat and Top Coat that you can buy without being a monthly subscriber. These are also $7 each. CMM Base Coatis a premium nail primer that protects your nails from staining while creating an even matte surface for optimal application of nail lacquer. Our base coat formula fills in ridges, decreases chipping, and increases the length of time nail polish stays on your nails. CMM top coat is a high-gloss protective finish that extends the life of your beautiful mani-pedis. This top coat formula is UV-resistant to prevent yellowing from sun-damage and dries to a shiny, glass-like surface. cmm base and topIf you are interested in a non-toxic and carcinogen free polish that is eco-friendly and cruelty free then this is the answer to your dreams. So far Color Me Monthly has kept me totally intrigued with their choices of color and finish and I’m looking forward to watching my collection grow. — Marcia

  2. Hi Moxie, this subscription box is just wonderful. It’s just one polish a month but it’s a winner each month. The quality is fabulous. And you’d love their “green” philosophy.
