When Sephora and Pantone announced that Radiant Orchid was the 2014 Color of the Year I think it left quite a few people confused. There have been so many blog posts with beautiful “radiant orchid” cosmetics but the variety in interpretation is quite vast. Is it a pale pinky lavender, a brilliant orchid or a daring fuchsia? Construals will all be different.
I knew that I wanted to get a few items in this shade so I turned to one of the experts in color – butter LONDON. I was placing an order for mostly sale items when I noticed the shade Molly Coddled Nail Lacquer and the words “radiant orchid”. That was enough for me to add it to my basket.
Molly Coddled is butter LONDON’s “nod to the Color of the Year”. It’s described as an “Opaque lavender orchid cream“. Actually I wasn’t sure I would be comfortable with such a bright lavender that might look more orchid on me but in reality the color is much softer.
I’m normally drawn to polishes that have a little shimmer or holographic glamour but Molly Coddled was just what the doctor ordered to brighten up my hands this winter.
This applied beautifully and was fully opaque in 2 coats. The best part is that it lasted an entire week. But in the name of honesty I cheated after a few days…. I missed that little bit of glitter so I added a top coat I Love Nail Polish “My Private Rainbow” which is my favorite perk up polish these days.
If you are looking for Radiant Orchid look no farther than butter LONDON Molly Coddled. I promise no one will consider you to be coddled or sissified! They’ll just be jealous. — Marcia
