butter LONDON Double Take is a winter wonderland of color

I’m totally enamored with this set from butter LONDON. I love gorgeous blue polishes like this nail lacquer called Bluecoat. I’m fascinated with flakey polishes like this shade, Leccy. Plus there are two full size nail polishes for $24 rather than $30. The only thing I can tell you to make this better is that the brand is butter LONDON which is one of my all time favorites.

When this arrived for review Lisa took one look at it and emailed me to tell me that it was totally a Marcia set of polishes. How right she was. I’m going to try to let my photos take the place of my words. I used 2 coats of Bluecoat on all nails and then on my ring fingers I added 2 coats of Leccy since I really wanted the flakes to be prominent. Leccy is a thicker lacquer than the metallic Bluecoat so you might need just one coat. The flakes did not stand up which would have driven me crazy since I’d have been playing with them constantly if that happened.

Both shades are unique to this set. Bluecoat is “Opaque, navy shimmer. A twist on the traditional style of dress in British private schools.” Look at the colors in Leccy – green, light blue, gold, pink. Butter LONDON says: “Leccy Overcoat: Sheer, blue opal fleck overcoat. Brit slang for electricity.

There are two Double Take sets – Double Take Ice (my review) and Double Take Fire. Each has the metallic base with a festive overcoat which can also be worn with any other polish.

One of the things I love about a top coat like Leccy is that it completely refreshes a manicure after a few days. Once the color feels tired looking or you are ready to change add Leccy and boing – pretty sparkly nails.

When it was time for me to remove the color after a week, Bluecoat came off easily with no staining. Leccy’s topcoat was a little stubborn so I had to hold the remover cotton ball on each of those nails for a little while. I didn’t have to use the foil method though so that was nice.

If you are looking for a beautiful holiday manicure or a gift that will make the recipient’s eyes pop with delight, I’d recommend a Double Take set…. or two! — Marcia
