Bloggers against Bullying – a purple polish round up

“Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.

Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.

As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color…even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people’s view of “normal” dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.

In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.”

This statement might be a little vague unless you know the whole story. Bullying seems to have taken ahold of the world lately whether it’s for the way you dress, the way you look, the way you talk, or the way you polish your nails. A group of nail bloggers had started a blog post condemning other bloggers for not having perfectly manicured nails. I’m not a nail blogger and I never will be but I love polish and I love sharing my many buys with you.

I hope when you look at my manicures what you see are the beautiful colors, holographic glow, shimmery seduction or shiny surface. I hope you aren’t looking and thinking “boy Marcia needs to learn how to clean up those cuticles” or “Marcia sure made a mess on her pinky”. I admit I’m not perfect but which one of us truly are?

Cult Nails Seduction

Purple is the color chosen to stand in solidarity with my fellow bloggers and I’ve got a gorgeous one for you by Cult Nails. This lacquer is called Seduction and it has the most gorgeous glitter in it. I swear I stared at this for one week straight.

Cult Nails Seduction

The base of this polish is a purple jelly while the glitter is red and blue. Sometimes you even see a drop of orange or green. The type of glitter in this is smooth so you don’t need to worry about it eating top coat or feeling funny. I wore Seche Vite as my top coat and it lasted well for a week.

Here’s what Cult says about Seduction: A diva true to her name, Seduction lures you in with her purple sheer base and leaves you speechless by adding red and blue flakes that offer a slight flash of color shift to gold at certain angles.

Cult Nails Seduction

The next time I wear this polish I plan on using it over a black or a deep purple since the jelly base was a little sheer, especially close to my cuticles.

Cult Nails Nail Lacquers are $10 and available through their website. Seduction is a limited edition shade and it’s still available. If you love purple and you love glittery polishes you surely be seduced by Seduction.

I hope you’ll visit the other anti-bullying bloggers to see what purple they’ve chosen. — Marcia

  1. Great job! That is one gorgeous manicure! Thank you for speaking against bullies. 🙂

  2. Thank you so much for speaking up and your nails and the color is gorgeous!

  3. I would love if you could add me to this list. I just did a new posting about No H8, and posted my purple manicure. Thanks.

  4. Thank you for taking part in this. This is so important!

  5. I did just add you to the list Go Polish Yourself.

  6. After teaching for 30 years and seeing what bullying can do to kids, it breaks my heart to realize it’s worse than ever. Just a small step but maybe it will wake someone up.

  7. Thanks Llarowe. It’s such an important cause. My other choice was a polish I bought from you actually but I couldn’t find the pictures (Picture Polish Warning).

  8. Thanks so much @lovenailpolish. I love Cult Nails and I’m proud to be doing a tiny part in this fight.

  9. Yes, we’re in it to win this fight against bullying….of all kinds! Gorgeous mani I must say.

  10. Gorgeous mani! Thank you so much for joining the No H8 November 8th Campaign!

  11. Very pretty nails, fantastic cause too!

  12. Seduction is a favorite of mine. I’m not on the list but I am ever so against bullying. Especially for someone wanting to share a common bond like beauty blogging. I do, however, see there is one blog on this list that I thought was a member of the very bullying group you mentioned. I hope that by seeing this blog on your list means that they have reconsidered.

  13. Thanks @EnigmaticRambles. I loved the polish and when I learned about 170 bloggers (and probably more coming) getting together to speak up I was thrilled to be able to join in.

  14. @Kimberly I did hear there was someone on both lists. I hope they aren’t just doing this for publicity and speaking out of two sides of their face.

  15. @Nory – I forgot to put in the No8 November 8th campaign part in the review but I do hope I hit the point. Isn’t it amazing that we are up to 170 and growing!

  16. Thanks @KathTheFabZilla – I did have this done by a nail tech. My own work isn’t this good but I’m learning and what more can you ask of anyone?

  17. Beautiful color – would love to see it over a darker shade!

  18. @Gotham Polish, next time I’m using it over black or purple. I think it will bring out the sparkle more.

  19. Great post! It makes my beauty loving heart happy to see over 200 bloggers on your list!

  20. The bloggers have done an amazing job of banding together @Melissa. We need to find ways to keep bullying away from all aspects of life.
