“Bullying is not funny. It is not cool. It is not right. And more importantly, it is not okay.
Most of us are, thankfully, residents of countries that support tolerance and many of our families have settled in these places simply for that reason. Generations later, it is our responsibility to perpetuate that message of tolerance across our new social platforms, including the internet.
As members of the nail polish blogging community, we all share a love of beauty, color, and lacquer. Other than that, we are remarkably different: from our race to our religion to our hair color…even to our polish application techniques. To marginalize anyone because of those differences is completely unacceptable and today I take a stand against that. I refuse to allow other people’s view of “normal” dictate how I behave, believe, and blog.
In solidarity with a multitude of bloggers linked below, my purple manicure represents my proud commitment to the No H8 movement. Today, November 8, I dedicate my post to ending bullying of any kind and to encouraging diversity and imperfection among our colorful community.”
This statement might be a little vague unless you know the whole story. Bullying seems to have taken ahold of the world lately whether it’s for the way you dress, the way you look, the way you talk, or the way you polish your nails. A group of nail bloggers had started a blog post condemning other bloggers for not having perfectly manicured nails. I’m not a nail blogger and I never will be but I love polish and I love sharing my many buys with you.
I hope when you look at my manicures what you see are the beautiful colors, holographic glow, shimmery seduction or shiny surface. I hope you aren’t looking and thinking “boy Marcia needs to learn how to clean up those cuticles” or “Marcia sure made a mess on her pinky”. I admit I’m not perfect but which one of us truly are?
Purple is the color chosen to stand in solidarity with my fellow bloggers and I’ve got a gorgeous one for you by Cult Nails. This lacquer is called Seduction and it has the most gorgeous glitter in it. I swear I stared at this for one week straight.
The base of this polish is a purple jelly while the glitter is red and blue. Sometimes you even see a drop of orange or green. The type of glitter in this is smooth so you don’t need to worry about it eating top coat or feeling funny. I wore Seche Vite as my top coat and it lasted well for a week.
Here’s what Cult says about Seduction: A diva true to her name, Seduction lures you in with her purple sheer base and leaves you speechless by adding red and blue flakes that offer a slight flash of color shift to gold at certain angles.
The next time I wear this polish I plan on using it over a black or a deep purple since the jelly base was a little sheer, especially close to my cuticles.
Cult Nails Nail Lacquers are $10 and available through their website. Seduction is a limited edition shade and it’s still available. If you love purple and you love glittery polishes you surely be seduced by Seduction.
I hope you’ll visit the other anti-bullying bloggers to see what purple they’ve chosen. — Marcia
