Makeup Wars is back with a favorite product – mascara. I love mascara and have a (ahem) few. This picture is to show you both unused stash mascaras and in use mascaras other than drugstore. Of course having this many won’t stop me from acquiring more.

and this isn't all!

and this isn’t all!

But the point of today’s Makeup Wars is to show you our favorites and I’ve chosen two that I haven’t really had a chance to review but that I love. This doesn’t negate my love for others like IT Cosmetics, Eddie Funkhouser, Milani, etc., it just adds to them. DRUM ROLL PLEASE…… today’s winners are

Bare Minerals Lash Domination and Susan Posnick Color Coated Mascara

Bare Minerals Lash Domination and Susan Posnick Color Coated Mascara

Bare Minerals Lash Domination and Susan Posnick Color Coated Mascara are the two that I’m totally stuck on and am loving these days. These are more like fraternal twins than identical twins. They each have great qualities. While both were sent for review initially, I’ve already repurchased the Bare Minerals during Ulta’s special and will purchase the SP when it’s had its 3 month run.

BARE MINERALS LASH DOMINATION was sent with other Bare Minerals items and it’s a winner. I hadn’t tried any mascara from Bare Minerals prior to this but I’m so happy they introduced me to Lash Domination ($18).

Lash Domination has an exclusive ProTwist180 Wand:

  • Spiraled 180 degree to curve around each lash & coat from ALL angles
  • Ergonomic channels load lashes for intense volume
  • Powered by nourishing minerals and quinoa protein complex

This mascara is a volumizing one and it does a great job of that without the clumps you often find with volume mascaras. It comes in one color – a deep intense black – that wears beautifully the entire day. I love how the brush curves and grabs each lash no matter how short it might be.

Bare Minerals calls Lash Domination a 10 in 1 product claiming it volumizes, defines, thickens, separates, lifts, has all day wear, is mineral fortified, doesn’t clump, fights flakes and is smudge resistant. And I totally agree. I love a defining mascara the most and I always look for one that isn’t going to smudge or flake. You hit it Bare Minerals and you are a mascara war winner!!

SUSAN POSNICK COLORCOATED MASCARA is one I’d never have known about if they hadn’t sent it. Susan Posnick products just don’t get the press that other brands do which is too bad. This COLORCOATED mascara ($24)  could be what changes that though because it needs to be talked about and worn by you and everyone you know.

Susan Posnick ColorCoated Mascara took the brand two years to create and get just right. It’s been obvious to me that they spent that long time wisely getting a mascara that does everything I want a mascara to do while conditioning my lashes at the same time. I find that this is much better at lengthening and definition than it is at thickening. Once I made my decision for this post I wore them both – BM on one eye and SP on the other. That really showed me the differences. Susan Posnick did a good job of volumizing but it didn’t make my lashes stick together at all. The definition and how long they looked is what set this apart.

The brush is a double twist brush that picks up all your lashes. The color is super black but it never strays. I’ve yet to have a single flake or smudge with this.

  • Fortifying complex conditions and helps stimulate lash enhancement
  • Unique double-twist wand for precise application and lash separation
  • Water-resistant formula won’t smear or smudge
  • Never flakes or clumps during application

Two wonderful mascaras that I think deserve to be awarded the title of WINNER for Makeup Wars. — Marcia

  1. The bareMinerals wand looks so fun! It reminds me of the Eddie Funkhouser one!

  2. I have a sample of the Lash Domination around here, now I need to try it! Bare Minerals has a waterproof topcoat that I really like, though. I’ve never heard of the Susan Posnick brand, but it sounds like a great mascara! Right now, my top faves are UD Perversion, L’oreal Butterfly, and It Cosmetics tightline mascaras.

  3. That BreMinerals looks like a great one! I use Urban Decay Perversion.

  4. Great post – I never heard of Susan Posnick, I have to check this out!!! I MAY have tried Lash Domination but I can’t remember. I have so many opened mascaras it’s a sin!

  5. I didn’t know Susan Posnick had a mascara! I have a special place in my heart for her, because she invited a few of us to her studio in Dallas (which is amazing). I’m going to have to grab one.

  6. You have a very awesome stash of mascaras! My personal fave is Maybelline Rocket Volum’. It is so incredubly perfect!

  7. I’m a pretty loyal mascara lover of Benefit They’re Real…but you might have just convinced me to try that Bare Minerals one!

  8. I keep meaning to pick up and try the Lash Domination. I guess that my current fave mascara is UD Perversion. I can’t get enough of that one!

  9. I have so many favorites but the ones I wear most often are L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Intenza and Too Faced Lashgasm

  10. Mascara is something I also buy constantly. I am a bit embarassed at how many I have and use.

  11. Lash Domination is at the top of my favorites list right now, 2nd in line is tarte Lights Camera Action!

  12. Lash Domination is a really good mascara!

  13. I love that you did this! I was just talking about the forever trek to find my holy grail mascara. Sometimes I find a really great one, use it for some time and then I feel the need to find a new one. I may have to try Lash Domination.

  14. I had a sample of Lash Domination and loved it! Currently, my favorite is Benefit Roller Lash and Tarte Lights, Camera Lashes. Roller Lash curls on its own, and gives great length while the Tarte one is so dramatic and thickening!

  15. I’ve never used any of these but Bare Minerals sounds good.

  16. I’ve used Lash Domination and agree–it’s an excellent formula!

  17. BareMinerals made my list, now I’ll have to give Susan Posnick a try!

  18. Never heard of Susan Posnik but it’s great to know you love it!

  19. I am a huge fan of the Lash Domination!

  20. Jess Scull says:

Great picks! I LOOOOVE Maybelline Lash sensational & roller lash!

  21. Weird…I still can’t find anything I like better than L’Oreal Voluminous! I, in all honesty, don’t want to spend a fortune on mascara although I “won’t leave home without it!” I also like that the L’Oreal will wash off and not leave me with raccoon eyes.

  22. Right now I’m loving benefit’s new Roller Lash mascra, which is odd because I used to hate it the first few times I used it.

  23. Wow! I have not tried either of these! I need to check them out for sure!

  24. First of all I love your collection. I always have to have a couple mascaras and I temp to switch them quite often. My all time favorites are Too faced Better than sex and Maybelline Rocket

  25. I have a sample of Lash Domination I need to try!

  26. Sad to say I haven’t tried anny of these. I need to pick up my game!

  27. I like the look of the Bare Minerals brush. I’ll have to try it.
