Makeup Wars wants to share summer eye looks

Makeup Wars – one of my favorite expressions. It’s that time again and this time we’re sharing some summer eye looks. Because I can’t do any post quickly I have several different looks with some of my favorite products. You’ll see that I pretty much stay in the same color family but these are variations that I enjoy.

My absolute favorite is using some Rouge Bunny Rouge eyeshadows that I bought a year ago so I’ve had plenty of time to wear these for summer looks. Golden Rhea is a very pale gold while Bohemian Waxwing is an iridescent bronzed champagne. Neither of these are colors that are bold, they are soft and shimmery and that’s what I love about them. I’m not a matte kind of woman, try as I may. I like some shimmer and I like my eyes to have just the right touch of sparkle without anyone wondering if I have glitter on my eyes. These fit the bill.

What I did for this summer eye is to start with Laura Mercier Platinum Metallic Cream eyeshadow, one of my all time favorite bases. I used RBR Golden Rhea on the lid and RBR Bohemian Waxwing on the lid, lined with Painted Earth Baroque Gel Eyeliner Pencil and added mascara.

For a second look using the same Rouge Bunny Rouge and Laura Mercier shadows I used Eddie Funkhouser Liquid Eyeliner in black along with Eddie Funkhouser mascara. The difference is that I applied Golden Rhea on the inner eye and Bohemian Waxwing on the outer. Slight changes but a little more dramatic (at least in real life!).

Now when I really want some color for this summer I’ll turn to my MAC Bare My Soul eyeshadow quad that I’ve probably bored you with. In that quad I love the shades in this quad: light taupe, gold, brownish bronze and a greenish shade. I like to wear that with Painted Earth Baroque Gel Eyeliner pencil too or with Make Up For Ever 52L in that bright teal to wake things up.

  12. beautyin says:

@Cindy, I have been getting a ton of use out of Bare My Soul even with all the eyeshadows I own!

  13. beautyin says:

@Retrodiva – not all RBR shadows are created equal. As a matter of fact at first I was disappointed in these two but now I can’t get enough of them. Solstice Halycon is a very popular one but I look terrible in it. I love Abyssinian Catbird and that started me loving green shadows.

  14. beautyin says:

Thanks @ Pammy. These two palettes are getting a lot of use and will continue to all summer.

  15. beautyin says:

Oh Lola, you are so sweet. I’m far from gorgeous but I have fun with shadow and my life.

  16. beautyin says:

Thanks @Nancy. The Rouge Bunny Rouge is one of my favorite go-to looks.

  17. beautyin says:

@Christa, I know you are a big big fan of RBR. These shadows don’t look dramatic but once on they are so special.

  18. beautyin says:

@Pink Sith – Bohemian Waxwing looks different on then in the pan. It’s much softer once on. When I bought it I had no idea it could become such a favorite.

  19. beautyin says:

@Teri, I loved seeing Bare My Soul on your blog too! It’s the best that MAC has done in a long time.

  20. beautyin says:

@Eugenia, thanks so much. I’m happy with my choices.

  21. beautyin says:

@Brooke, it’s so great that MAC came out with some winners since it’s been a while. You are making me want Temperature Rising from your post.
