Make Up For Ever 2013 Aqua Collection = summer personified

Make-Up-for-Ever-Summer-2013-Aqua-Collection-Promo2

Just look at those colors – does this not scream summer? Make Up For Ever has created an amazing collection for summer 2013, one that makes you just want to jump in the water. All the products in this collection are waterproof. Here’s what Make Up For Ever has to say about their Aqua Collection: Highly pigmented and smudge-proof, MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Aqua Collection was originally created for the Parisian water ballet. These high performance, long lasting products withstand the most extreme conditions while staying completely waterproof, crease-proof, and fade-proof.

If these products can stand up to the Parisian water ballet, you better believe they’ll stand up to what we put our cosmetics through in hot weather. The collection consists of 3 new Aqua Cream eyeshadows (#52, 53, 53); 2 Aqua Eyes eyeliner pencils (#25L, #52L); 5 Aqua Rouge lipsticks (#16 through 20); 2 new Aqua Lip liners (#19C, #20C); Aqua Black (their famous cream eyeliner) and Aqua Seal (a transformer to convert products to be more waterproof). We were sent some products to share with you so you too can get ready for summer with these beauties.

Look at these gorgeous shades of eyeshadow! From the top #52 is Pearly Green Lagoon (blue green shimmer), #53 Pearly Light Lagoon Shimmer (pale green shimmer) and #54 Pearly Mauve (lilac shimmer). I have #53 and the eyeliner #52L  Lagoon Green (blue green sheen) to show you.

Aqua Cream eyeshadow in #53 is named Pearly Light Lagoon Shimmer and it’s a limited edition shade. It’s a very pale green that is a little bit minty. It is shimmery but not in the way a powder eyeshadow would be, instead it’s almost an iridescent shimmer. It looks great alone, especially with a liner like #52L, or it looks great as a base for other summer shades. Since my nails are on the long side I have to use a brush to get the color out of the pot. But then I transfer the color onto my finger tip; I get much more even coverage using the brush.

The Aqua Liner that is being shown with this collection, #52L, is fabulous. I never thought I could love a shade like this but I’ve found so many uses for this liner because it’s just the right pop of color for even someone as color shy as I am. It’s described as a blue green sheen which is spot on.

It’s a shame that this is limited edition since it’s a liner that will work in seasons other than summer. It’s a great waterproof liner that is also smudge resistant and doesn’t fade. In the meantime, I’m getting a lot of use out of this with all my shadows.

The Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Liner Pencil ($19) in 19C, Pomegranate Pink, is my very first lip liner in the Aqua range. Like all the Aqua products, it’s waterproof, and it is extremely long-wearing.

I love the formula, this isn’t a hard lip liner that tugs at the lips. It truly glides on thanks to the vitamin E and jojoba wax, which is incredible for a long-wearing liner. It’s not drying, so you can wear it alone or pair it with a clear gloss or lipstick.

19C is a very pretty berry pink that leans more red than I expected when swatched. But when I put it on, it becomes a cheery berry shade.

I was already a huge fan of the Aqua Rouge ($24) line before trying #20, Baby Pink. This is the first long-wearing lipstick that doesn’t dry my lips out like the Sahara Desert.

Pretty color, but not a good look for lips!

Pretty color, but not a good look for lips!

Boy, if #20 doesn’t scream summer I don’t know what does. #20 is a baby pink, a lighter but still bright shade of pink that makes me think of suntans and lemonade and driving with the top down.

Like all Aqua Rouge shades it’s highly pigmented and very long-wearing. It even wears off evenly so you don’t end up with that nasty ring around your lips. I keep applying the clear gloss every so often and at the end of the day the color is faded a bit but still looks great.
