Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen review and swatches

Looking for a perfect stocking stuffer for a party girl – or for someone who just (vaguely) remembers partying? Definitely consider the Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen ($48) set of three beautiful sheer matte shimmer lipsticks. At $16 each, these are some of Poppy King’s most affordable – not to mention most adorable – lipsticks.  Prepare to get foxy, ladies.

Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen

I love ABBA, dancing, and shimmer so I was considerably happy when Poppy King sent this trio to test. Sheer matte shimmer lipstick sounds like an impossibility but it exactly describes these three unique lipsticks. They go on sheer so there’s a little more than a hint of color. And while the beautiful iridescence makes lips look lush, the lipsticks are matte rather than shiny so it’s more sophisticated than a typical shimmer lipstick.

The three lipsticks include The Hustle, a shimmering sheer nude; Cha Cha, a shimmering sheer wine; and the Electric Slide, a shimmering deep rose.

Going glam with Lipstick Queen Dancing Queen

I adore the unique burnished red metal packaging of these lipsticks. I feel retro-cool just pulling one of these babies out of my purse to use it! Surprisingly, the disco glitter isn’t a texture issue, which is probably because the ‘glitter’ is really more of a ‘glimmer’. The Dancing Queen lipsticks are nicely moisturizing thanks to the shea butter and jojoba oil.

The Dancing Queen set gives subtle beauty that looks great alone or layered over other shades. Because all of the shades are sheer, anyone can wear them. First up, The Hustle, which for those of us who remember the ’70′s is quite appropriately a nude shade.

This shimmering sheer nude begins as a light raspberry tint but it ends up as a wonderfully natural matte look with that delightful iridescence.

Cha Cha is a shimmering sheer wine that will please all the pink and purple lovers out there.

Cha Cha is a truly unique shade that has lots of pink and purple glimmer. I think it’s definitely the most ‘glimmery’ of the three that makes lips instantly party perfect.

The third shade is Electric Slide, a shimmering deep rose.

Electric Slide is sublime! It goes on as a raspberry tint with red glimmer. It’s just perfect for holiday gatherings. In fact, all these shades are great for party girls or for girls like me who fondly remember being partiers. I heartily recommend this set as a great holiday gift or as a wonderful way to ensure party-ready lips for the holiday season.  - Lisa
