I hate thinking about holiday shopping already but it really is the perfect time to do so and there’s nothing quite like tarte cosmetics to make sure your dollar goes far with amazing holiday sets. We are enamored with so many of these sets but the one that has my name written on it is the 5 piece LipSurgence™ Collector’s Set. I’m a huge fan of tarte’s LipSurgence™ crayons and even picked one for my favorite summer lippie in Makeup Wars and took that same one with me on my desert island sojourn. The color I picked is Sweet and it was from a QVC set I’d purchased and not available elsewhere. Well guess what? You can now have Sweet along with 4 other LipSurgence™ products for only $34. A single LipSurgence™ is $24! I’m shocked at the price of this set. For $10 more than a single you get 5 and they are beauties.
The 5 shades are
* LipSurgence™ Lip Luster in Escape
*LipSurgence™ Lip Luster in Sweet
* LipSurgence™ Lip Tint in Enchanted
* LipSurgence™ Lip Tint in Elite
* LipSurgence™ Matte Lip Tint in Exposed
Escape is the lightest of the group. The packaging is a light lilac and the color on me is a light cool pink. It actually shows up without making me look ghostly.
Sweet is the sweetest in the bunch (my opinion obviously), it’s a midtone pink that I think is neutral since I can wear it with just about anything in my makeup collection. There’s a little bit of shimmer in both Escape and Sweet which gives those more of the luster finish.
Enchanted has more of a cool undertone and is one of the darkest shades. But since these are basically sheer they aren’t as dark as they appear on the lip crayon.
Elite is a coral pink. Both Enchanted and Elite are a little darker than the others. They also leave a tint behind when the color wears away.
Exposed is a nude with a peach undertone on me. In some pictures Exposed looks brown but it doesn’t really look brown once on. I’d classify it as a peach/nude.
All 5 of these have the trademark peppermint smell which I love. They are refreshing to put on not only because of the scent but because they are so fabulous in feel. The Lip Lusters are a little sheerer than the Lip Tints but very similar. The Matte Lip Tint is matte obviously but it doesn’t show every line since it’s still just as moisturizing. The color selection in this set is terrific. They go from light to semi-dark and almost every shade is universal.
Whether you put this limited edition set on your own wishlist or buy it for gifts (you can divide up the 5 lippies as stocking stuffers), you’ll be sorry if you don’t get this. Do you have a favorite tarte lipsurgence? If not you could have 5 pretty soon! — Marcia
