Makeup Wars 5 Product Face Challenge #beautyinfozone

This week’s Makeup Wars is a 5 product challenge. The ladies involved seem to have different ideas of using 5 products so it will be especially fun to read everyone’s blog posts to see their interpretation. I took this pretty seriously and only allowed myself to use 5 products on my face. I did use some brushes too to accomplish my goal but I tried to keep that number low too.

Here’s my typical face:

*skincare of course

*I start with eyes and use an eyeshadow primer first, 3 eyeshadow shades (brow bone, lid, crease), eyeliner, mascara and eyebrows.

*For my face I’ll use 2 different concealers most days, foundation or CC Cream, loose powder or Mally Poreless Face Defender. Blush comes next and lips are last. For everyday lips I usually start with a balm and apply a lipstick straight from the tube. If I really want to take the time I’ll also use lipliner and gloss.

That total is 16 cosmetic products and a lot of skincare and brushes. Yep, I’m a high maintenance woman. (I love doing my makeup with that many products.)

My 5 product face includes:

Milani Fierce Foil liner in Brown, Bare Minerals Lash Domination mascara, IT Cosmetics CC+ Compact Cream with SPF 50, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, and Mineral Fusion Colorstick in Berry Glow.

I used the Milani Fierce Foil Eyeliner in Brown Foil for my entire eye. I started by using the MAC 242 brush and applying it on the lid. I blended it down so that it wasn’t that dark brown. I also used what was left on my brush and blended upwards so that I had a little bit of an ombre look. I lined top and bottom lash lines using the Paula Dorf Eyeliner brush and smudged it a little with the MAC 242. Last I used the amazing IT Cosmetics Eyebrow brush and did my eyebrows with the same Milani. There is some sparkle to the Fierce Foil eyeliner but it wasn’t over the top.

To finish my eyes I used Bare Minerals Lash Domination mascara which has been a favorite of late. So far I’ve used 2 products and 3 brushes so I was on a roll.

For my Face I used the other 3 products and no brushes. I started with IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye just under my eyes. The one I used is a favorite because one side is the Brightener and the other the Concealer. But I didn’t cheat and use the Brightener. Since IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream is a favorite I had no problem choosing the new compact. It applies like a dream and I don’t feel I need to powder over it.

Mineral Fusion Berry Glow is a double duty product for me. It makes a beautiful blush that I blend with my fingers. Plus it can be used on my lips. I regret not using a lip brush and just using my finger when I took pictures though so my lips didn’t look quite as finished as I’d like.

I didn’t really have any problem picking out these items. They are all in constant use and pulled together well for a 5 product face.

What 5 products would you use? – Marcia
