Makeup Wars Color Wars – how about some nudes

makeup wars logo

What do you think of when someone mentions the word nude when it relates to cosmetics? Whatever it is, it may not be what someone else thinks of. A nude to me isn’t necessarily a nude to you. When the decision came up to each pick a color to share it took me a while to come up with my choice. Once I decided on Nude though it’s all I could think about. There are so many different shades of nude including some beautiful mauve nudes that I love. Over the holidays I bought a NUDESTIX collection which fits in perfectly. So let’s get nude with NUDESTIX.

NUDESTIX Nude (ART)ist Box
NUDESTIX Nude (ART)ist Box

First I have to apologize since this set was a limited edition available for the winter holidays. It contains 6 full size NUDESTIX Neutral Magnetic Eye Colors which are all available separately. If you see something you love, then get yourself to Sephora or Ulta for a single.

I can’t help but love NUDESTIX’s packaging. Each product comes in a metal reusable container that are fun to own. NUDESTIX Metallic Color Eyeshadows are $24 each and come with a sharpener as well as the pencil.

The kit contains 3 Luminous shades (Angel, Lilith, Twilight) and 3 Matte Shades (Army, Putty, Taupe). Even though only certain shades make me think of nude, the others are great neutrals to own.

Before I show you the 6 shades let me give you my assessment of them so you can see if they are for you.

  1.  If you have oily lids, I don’t know if these would work for you. They can crease or wear away. This is my opinion though and I noticed that Ulta says they are great for oily lids.
  2.  If your eyelids aren’t oily these are great to use with some hints.
    1. Apply a good eyeshadow primer and let it dry
    2. Then apply a neutral powder eyeshadow that doesn’t change the color/s you are going to use.
  3. They can be used in 4 ways: eyecolor, eyeliner, base, and highlighter.
  4. Once they set they become waterproof and last on me for the full day.
  5.  NUDESTIX removes easily with eye makeup remover.
  6.  I don’t consider them the easiest eyeshadow crayons to blend. I’m more likely to wear only one at a time but they work well with powder eyeshadows.
Nudestix Lilith
Nudestix Lilith

Lilith is a champagne cream with some shimmer. None of the Luminous/Satin shades will drop glitter on your face but you may notice some shimmer around your eyes. Lilith is the lightest of this set.

Nudestix Angel
Nudestix Angel

Angel is my favorite as it’s a light rose gold. Total bliss on my eyelid with a darker powder in the crease. I could stare at it all day.

Nudestix Twilight
Nudestix Twilight

Twilight is also a Luminous shade, it’s described as a gray taupe with shimmer. It’s more taupe though than gray so don’t let that scare you. This is a one-and-go shade for me. I’ll put it on up to the crease and blend it so that it’s lighter near my lashline.

Nudestix Putty
Nudestix Putty

Putty is a matte cream beige shade. On me it shows up as a light tan. This is not one I’d have personally bought as a single since it tends to look more yellow than I prefer but remember I have very cool toned skin.

Nudestix Taupe
Nudestix Taupe

Taupe is a much better matte shade for me and I like it a lot. It’s a cool toned neutral brown and my favorite of my 3 matte shades.

Nudestix Army
Nudestix Army

Army is a neutral brown matte with green undertones. I see a dark cool brown but rarely do I notice the green undertones. I said I didn’t think these were great for layering but I do sometimes wear this with Angel or Lilith even though I have to take time to get it on evenly.

I’m not done yet! For a true nude you need something that doesn’t show at all. I have been buying some products from Kiko Milano and two of them fit today’s Makeup Wars.

Kiko Milano Invisible Lip Liner
Kiko Milano Invisible Lip Liner

I love using an invisible/clear lipliner but they aren’t that easy to find. Then a friend recommended looking into Kiko Milano. Invisible Lip Liner is considered a primer. It glides on and is easy to use. The full price is $9 but Kiko often has sales. What I really like about the site is their free shipping starts at $15 – very unusual these days. While I have an older Paula’s Choice clear lipliner (no longer available) it isn’t as smooth and easy to apply. This is a staple I like having in my stash.

Kiko Milano Nude Blur Lip Base

Another product I can recommend is Nude Blur Lip Base ($11). The Lip Base is creamier than the liner and helps smooth the appearance of lip lines. I especially like it under certain matte liquid lipsticks since my lips feel more moisturized. It contains olive oil extract and brown algae which help to protect the lips.

And now you have my current nudes. I know some of the other Makeup Wars ladies have chosen nude too but my guess is that they have very different choices and I can’t wait to read them. Join my friends to learn what their color choice is.  —  Marcia

I love the look of those Nudestix Nude shadow sticks. I love sticks for everyday. They are the way to go! And I have been very curious about Kiko Milano but I haven’t bought anything from them yet. Glad to see your mini-review on a couple of their products

  5. Christine | 13th Mar 17

These look so easy to use!

  6. Kelly Logan Gould | 13th Mar 17

I’m dying to try the new Nudies from Nudestix – there is a clear-ish one that would just look glossy on the skin. I need it!

  7. Judy | 13th Mar 17

I love nudes! The shadow Stix would be a miss for me – oily, hooded lids. But the lip primer would!

  8. Cindy (Prime Beauty) | 13th Mar 17

I love the nudes from NudeStix! You’re right, clear lipliners are so hard to find. I’m currently using one from NYX but I’m not satisfied. I will definitely purchase your 2 rec’s from Kiko Milano.

  9. CosmetopiaDigest | 13th Mar 17

That’s a comprehensive range of nudes. I use shadow sticks for travel – no need to cartload an array of brushes and bulky palettes!

  10. Carleen | 13th Mar 17

Lots of great nude options. I wear neutrals and nudes all the time.

  11. Anastasia | 13th Mar 17

Love a good neutral nude lip color! I tried a couple of Nudestix pencils and they were fantastic.

  12. Kathryne | 13th Mar 17

I have only tried their lipsticks and I love every shade. I have oily lids so I doubt if these will work for me

  13. Honeygirlk | 13th Mar 17

I have heard nothing but awesome things about Nudestix. I haven’t tried anything from the brand, but I’m eager to check them out for sure.

  14. Mai | 13th Mar 17

I love me a good nude and I agree, “nude” means different things to different people (especially since what’s flattering as a nude on one skintone might not look so hot on another!) I loved Nudestix’s Intense Matte Lip and Cheek pencils; I’ll have to swatch these

  15. Stacie Hamilton | 14th Mar 17

I love Nudes and Nudestix! I agree that their packaging is fun. I haven’t tried the eye products yet. I’ll make a point to look for them when I’m at Sephora today.

  16. Bailey | 14th Mar 17

I love the look of those shades!

  17. Polarbelle | 15th Mar 17

Everyone has such wonderful things to say about Nudestix. I’ve never heard a bad thing about the products.

  18. Phyrra | 15th Mar 17

    I love Nudestix!

  19. Joyce Chitwood | 16th Mar 17

I really enjoy trying out pencil type eye shadows sticks. I was just thinking the other day what is it I’m so intrigued about it? I’m not sure what my answer is besides u can use it and go. Thanks so much.
