Lush, well known for its huge selection of organic bath and body products, is now gaining a great reputation for cosmetics. They have their own unique point of view, with a focus on personal happiness and well-being, and this perspective is certainly paying off for Lush with the Emotional Brilliance line.
Recently, Lisa and Marcia reviewed several Emotional Brilliance eyeshadow and lipstick shades here. Today, they have more shades plus eyeliner reviews as well. Check it out as Lisa gets bubbly and motivated and Marcia gets charmed, sophisticated, and quietly motivated.
Bubbly is pretty easy for me – I’m in a good mood most days and I am naturally rather outgoing. Motivation? Now that’s something I could use more of, I definitely tend to put things off. Lush’s Emotional Brilliance products reflect who you are or encourage you to get more of what you want, so Bubbly and Motivation both sounded perfect for me.
Bubbly is a truly beautiful medium shimmery pink lip gloss.
I really like a doe foot applicator, it’s my favorite for lip gloss.
This pretty pink actually goes on rather sheer with a nice amount of shimmer. In a pinch, it also works as a cream blush. It’s a fun lip gloss that should be flattering on most skin shades. It definitely does make me happy and bubbly because it’s so pretty!
Motivation is a two-toned, bright shimmery blue. This is a beautiful liquid liner that goes on easy and stays all day without smudging or flaking.
I love the applicator, when you pull it out of the bottle you can actually sort of scrape off any excess so it lines perfectly. It makes thick or thin lines easily.
I absolutely love this in a thin line over a thicker black eyeliner. It’s beautiful and it really makes brown eyes POP. I don’t know if it increases my motivation, but it certainly makes me look prettier when I put things off!
According to Lush my cosmetic profile is Charm, Quietly Motivated and Sophisticated. Interesting descriptions of me. Let’s see if they fit!
Let’s start with Charm since everyone that knows me knows how charming I am. Well maybe not everyone. But they know me enough to know that I prefer light lipstick and Charm fits the bill with that. Charm is a baby pink and may not be for everyone. The Lush Emotional Brilliance lipsticks are my favorite cosmetic products that Lush makes. My absolute favorite is Perspective so what I’ll often do is mix put on Perspective first and then layer Charm over it. That gives me a look I can really call charming.
Next Lush says I’m Quietly Motivated and I think that’s a pretty great description of me. When I love to do something then I’m very motivated, if I don’t love it then I can procrastinate but I do get it done. Since Quietly Motivated is an eyeliner then I’m greatly motivated to use it. I go nowhere without my eyeliner on!! I love this description from Lush about Quietly Motivated: “cause (someone) to have interest in or enthusiasm for something: it is the teacher’s job to motivate the child at school” since I taught elementary school for 30 years and I feel one of my strengths was how motivating I was to my classes. (Can you see me patting myself on the back?)
I personally find the brush difficult to use even though I love the color of this eyeliner. It’s a beautiful chocolate with a bronze glow. It’s shiny and slightly metallic. But with my longer nails I have trouble using a brush this tiny. It’s easy to solve though since I just take the eyeliner from Lush’s brush, put it on my own brush and can do my eyeliner much easier.
Last but certainly not least I’m Sophisticated. NOT. The color wheel might not have gotten the name right for me on this one but it got the color right. Sophisticated is described as a shimmering taupe and I love taupe eyeshadow. This particular taupe is a brown taupe. Taupe has a million interpretations and this one goes on my eye the way I originally thought of taupe. As you can see it’s lighter on my eye than it appears in the tube. Once it’s spread out the color changes to become a softer shade.
The consistency of Sophisticated is very creamy and easy to work with. I start with an eyeshadow primer (as always) and then I applied it with the sponge tip wand. I usually smooth it out with my finger after. It lasts me the entire day with just a little bit of creasing about 10 hours later.
Whatever traits you have, you’ll find a color and product from Emotional Brilliance by Lush to suit your style. They’ve improved the website showing the colors so it’s easier to see what they are actually like. The descriptions are more accurate as are the pictures. It’s a fun and unusual way to add color to your life. Let your brilliance show with Lush.
