It’s here, it’s here, it’s finally here. I can’t tell you how anxious I’ve been for the Eddie Funkhouser line to be available. My three months with the Quattro Variable Lash mascara are over and I need more. I’ve held off on reviewing other products because I didn’t want to tease you so I’m thrilled that I can finally tell you about the others I have for review.
When Eddie (my pen pal buddy) sent the mascara he (or maybe it’s his PR person) sent along an eyeshadow palette and a liquid liner. As hard as I fell for the mascara, that’s how hard I fell for the Ultra Definition Eye Lining Stylus ($10.99). I reach for this so often that my gel eyeliners have finally realized that I’m cheating on them and they are drying out. Of course that makes me want to use this eyeliner all the more. I love eyeliner and never go without it. It’s the one product I feel naked without and that’s not a pretty sight. I’ve got a slew of liquid eyeliners in my stash but none seems to match the ease of use of this eye lining stylus. The tip is reminiscent of a Sharpie pen but shaped for your eyes.
Eddie Funkhouser has this to say about this Ultra Definition Eye Lining Stylus: “It’s a felt tip eyeliner that provides effortless and precise application. It is long-wearing, does not fade or smudge and intensely pigmented.” Eddie Funkhouser is 100% right. This doesn’t fade or smudge, it lasts through even my major hot flashes, it doesn’t migrate, and it’s so black that it’s blacker than black. It practically applies itself, it’s that easy to use.
Eddie Funkhouser also created 4 eyeshadow quads called Hyperreal Eye Color Palettes. The one I have is Eye Candy and is made up of pastels. Here’s what they say about them: “It’s a vibrant, fashion-forward eye color palette. It provides variable coverage, extended wear, silky texture in trendy colors. It’s creamy, long-wearing and budge-proof.” Now that the website is up and running I found out that the shades in it have names:
EYE CANDY (clockwise from top left) SUGAR PIE – Shimmer frost white, U ROCK – Iridescent pastel lavender, TWEET ME – Pearlescent pastel sky blue, LOVE RUG – Shimmer pastel pink ($14.99)
I had some trouble getting these shades to show up on me. I found even when I used an eyeshadow primer like Too Faced Shadow Insurance that the colors were too light.
I’m used to more drama so I took the advice of Kath the Fabzilla and tried them wet and then with a darker base. That’s when they popped. I used the Make Up For Ever Black Tango Palette black/blue cream shadow to create a dark base. I then layered these pastels over that and got colors that were no longer pastels but not my typical eyeshadow shades either. They looked so much better. I would recommend Eye Candy to someone with darker skin than mine or for someone just starting out in the makeup world that needs a lighter touch.
This “masstige” line (combo of mass market and prestige) is finally available on the Eddie Funkhouser website. Eddie Funkhouser is available on their website as well as some Rite Aid stores. In addition they are partnering with Urban Outfitters where the entire line will be carried in 50 select stores and on the Urban Outfitters website. The prices range from $9.99 to $19.99. I’m so excited to see what else Eddie has created. He can count on at least one loyal customer named Marcia. — Marcia

** These pictures were taken in the early summer, that’s how long I’ve been waiting. Since then I’ve learned how to do my eyebrows properly and I hope Eddie has something wonderful for them.
*** I made an order the first day the Eddie Funkhouser site became live so expect to see reviews on 2 green eyeshadows along with a lipstick. I also bought the eyeliner so that I never run out and I bought 2 mascaras. Yes, I like it that much!!
