For me there is nothing quite like opening a new eyeshadow palette. It’s an adventure waiting to happen. Give me a choice of what to buy and it will always be eyeshadow. With Anastasia’s Want You To Want Me though I get a lot more than eyeshadow; I get 9 beautiful colors of shadow, 1 shiny black liquid eyeliner, a clear eyebrow gel and a mini brush. And I get excitement. If you follow Beauty Info Zone then you know that Want You To Want Me came to a desert island with me. Not every woman gets to pick what she can take with her but I did and Anastasia is what I picked.
Let’s see why? The 9 eyeshadows are beautiful shades that work in so many combinations. Applied dry they can be sheer but you have the option to also apply them wet to intensify them. The shadows have a variety of finishes from matte to satin to shimmer. Even with two shimmer shadows though what you won’t find is glitter. This palette is age appropriate for those of us who aren’t sweet sixteen (or super twenty-six or terrific thirty-six or even fabulous forty-six).
The style of the palette will take you back to the 1970’s and your disco dancing years. Those were wild and semi-decadent years for me, I even went to the fabulous Studio 54 when it was at its peak of popularity so I have some amazing memories from that time. Want You To Want Me brings back some of those memories with names like Platform Wedge, Members Only and Ziggy. The Jet Black Liquid Eyeliner in the kit is exactly what I wore then too.
The star of the show is the eyeshadow palette so on to descriptions.
Left side from top to bottom:
- Platform Wedge: matte vanilla with a touch of caramel that highlights your browbone area gently
- Members Only: a light caramel shade
- Graphic T’s: a beautifully sparkled dark brown that’s terrific for a smoky eye, a crease color or an eyeliner
- Front Row Center: a lightly shimmered gold with a touch of beige
- Power Ballad: I love this shade!! It’s a medium satiny brown with just the right amount of shimmer
- Brass In Pocket: perfect name for this lightly shimmered copper/brass
Right side top to bottom:
- Ziggy: a sparkly purple that you can build in intensity or leave light
- Jellies: just like those jelly shoes that were so popular in a sparkly pink
- Iron On: this dark purple shimmer has amazing pigment, like Graphic T it’s extremely versatile
Anastasia shadows are known for their anti-aging qualities which those of us who lived through the 70’s appreciate a lot! They contain “Youthful Synergy™ Complex in the shimmer shades. They also contain Brown Algae – A key ingredient that smoothes, firms, hydrates, and revitalizes the appearance of skin. Diamond Core Powder – Diffuses light for a soft focus effect. Sea Whip Extract – Soothes the skin. Macadamia derivative – A natural hydrator capable of holding up to 300% more water in the skin. Powerful antioxidants of Vitamins A, B, C, E, and F. Balkan Botanical Infusion®.” They never crease on me but I always use an eyeshadow primer.
In addition to the 9 shadows that you can use wet or dry there’s also the black liquid eyeliner and their best selling clear brow gel. Both of these are very long lasting and great to have. On my desert island trip I “used” the brow gel in place of mascara but in real life I like that the brow gel tames my brows and make them look so well groomed.
I think you can see just why this came with me on my journey to a desert island. I’ve got versatility, options, value (it’s only $34), and quality all wrapped in one pretty package. This set is exclusive to Sephora and if it’s anything like last year’s holiday eye set it’s going to go quickly. — Marcia
