Welcome some new products to the world of Pixi by Petra this month with the launch of Mattelustre Lipstick, Endless Brow Gel Pen and Cat Eye Ink. These are certainly welcome into my world since they were sent to test.
This year matte lips have taken off like American Pharoah – it’s definitely won the Triple Crown with all cosmetic companies. But Pixi Beauty has a slightly different take on matte lips and one that’s much easier to wear with their MATTELUSTRE lipsticks. There are 11 enticing shades that are only $12 each. What makes these different is that they are not a flat matte. Instead there’s a light lustre finish and a slight plumping to your lips with these long lasting lipsticks. My lips didn’t feel dry when wearing them. I have Pure Fuchsia which is a vivid cool shade of this dark pink. I also have Plum Berry described as “cerise berry tint” which on me is quite red, I don’t see the plum but I do see the berry.
The tubes themselves are Pixi green but the outer packaging is a covering of a bright fuchsia color to keep the lipsticks sealed. They are a chunky tube but the lipstick itself is the normal size. Pixi added peptides, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins C & E help to create fuller, smoother looking lips with these 11 beauties. Be sure to look at these on Pixi’s website to see great representations of the shades.
Both of these shades are in the cool family but there are others like Peach Blossom, Honey Bare, and Bitten Rose that are for those of you who look better in warmer shades. What I’m going to search Target for is Plump Pink, a cool mauve pink. Happily for me these are fragrance free and a demi-matte formula rather than a flat matte.
CAT EYE INK is a new liquid liner ($14) with an unusual tip. It’s a slanted felt tip that you can use to create a thin line if you are careful or a thicker one. It is only available in Intense Black which is typical for a cat eye. It’s a very wet liner so you can’t just slap it on. Take your time with this so that it doesn’t bleed since it’s so juicy. I think you need to use an eyeshadow primer first and let that dry down, then pat on your lid shade or a translucent shade. Next apply the liner carefully. Once it’s set, it’s set and it’s very long lasting. I’ve had times it was easy to get the liner look I wanted but other times that this didn’t cooperate with me.
My favorite new product is ENDLESS BROW GEL PEN ($11) which I know I’ll be buying again and again. I’m in love with Pixi Beauty brow products and until this arrived I’d been using the Brow Powder Palette non-stop. But Endless Brow Gel Pen has kidnapped me and is making me use this instead. It comes in three shades (Light a neutral light taupe, Medium which is neutral ash brown, and Dark a neutral cocoa gray). I have it in Medium and when I swatched it I really was worried it would be too light. That worry was changed to relief the first day I wore it. With my (sparse) dark brown eyebrows it’s a great shade.
The texture of this brow pencil is unusual, I’ve only tried one other like it (but much more expensive). The formula is soft and smooth and truly glides on. It’s just so easy for me to use to fill in my brows. If you like to draw individual hairs then this might not be for you though. But I’ll be buying it as soon as I notice it’s getting too small to use.
