The older I get, the more I realize what a difference well-groomed eyebrows can make. Joey Healy, a premier eyebrow specialist and professional makeup artist in New York City, has created a really cool niche line that’s all about fabulous brows.
Joey Healy believes it is essential to treat your eyebrows with the attention and products they deserve. He set out to create a line of practical products that met all of the needs of his clients. His eyebrow products are high quality, easy to use, and there is a color option that suits every brow.
I tried the Brow Architect Stylo ($25). I love two-in-one products like this. One side is a retractable waterproof pencil that doesn’t need sharpening. The other side is a brow spoolie.
I was really impressed with the super-chic packaging. The stylo comes in a beautiful faux-leather bag. And it was more than a pretty package, the product inside is quite impressive.
I am super picky about my brow spoolies. A weak spoolie without the right firmness is tantamount to nails on a chalkboard for me. The spoolie on the Brow Architect Stylo met all of my requirements – it’s firm, yet pliable enough to be comfortable on the brow. Love it!
Before you use the pencil side, brush your eyebrows upward. Then you can trim them if need be, and pluck any errant hairs before defining with the pencil side.
Once you have your brows brushed and stray hairs cleaned up, use the pencil side to define and intensify your eyebrow color. Be sure to choose a color that is a little lighter than your natural one (unless you have super blonde eyebrows that disappear on your face – in that case, you want to go a little darker). I chose Molasses, one of five color options, for my medium brown eyebrows. Molasses is a neutral chocolate-brown that can be intensified with more pressure.
You want to use the pencil with short, light strokes, like you are drawing in hairs. This will give you a natural look, and after applying the pencil brush your eyebrows through again with the spoolie to blend it all in.
The trend this fall is for thicker, arched brows. You can definitely go for some drama and create that look using the Brow Architect Stylo if you want. But I like it to slightly intensify my natural arch and color. This is a great brow product, and I think it’s going to be a staple in my collection. I’m impressed, and I can’t wait to try Joey Healy’s other brow products. – Lisa
