One of my Pinterest boards is named “It’s All About the Eyes” and that happens to be my mantra. I’m always looking for new eye products whether they are eye shadows, eye liners, mascara, or eye creams and serums. That is where most of my money goes and that’s what I get the most excited about using.
Last year I was shopping at CVS and saw a display for Hylamide products. I’d heard the name and considered purchasing their foundation but once my eyes settled on Subq Eyes my decision was made. With my CVS coupon I purchased this $35 Eye Serum and promptly forgot about it. So me!!
Once I started learning about The Ordinary and went to make a purchase of their products I remembered about Hylamide Subq Eyes and began using it. The two products I’m writing about today, Hylamide Subq Eyes and The Ordinary Caffeine Solution, are adjuncts to the other eye creams and masks I use. I use these in addition to everything else because “it’s all about the eyes”.
Starting with Hylamide Subq Eyes Advanced Serum. According to the company this is good for immediate and longer-term visible correction of under-eye aging, puffiness and dark circles. My eyes are guilty of all of the above. This serum is for under the eyes and not on your eyelids. I use this at night right after I’ve cleansed my face so that I can let it dry before applying more skincare.
This fragrance free product is in between a serum and an eye cream in my opinion. It’s thicker than most serums. The bottle has a pipette for application but I find that it’s too thick to use it for that. I usually just use my finger to get the serum off the pipette. It’s very possible that mine is a little old since it sat for a good year before I touched it, so I’m not sure if the texture changed.
I don’t see immediate results of this eye serum but that’s mostly because I only use it at night but I do see the cumulative results with clearer skin under my eyes.
“Contains a Flavanoid Glucoside Bio-active to reduce the look of dark circles and puffiness under the eyes
Contains a Darutoside complex for a lifted upper- and lower-lid appearance
Contains a Waglerin-1 Peptide Complex shown to reduce the look of dynamic lines around the eyes
A novel technology that promotes better visible anti-aging results than Retinol with less irritation
FLUORINATED PERFLUOROCARBON COMPLEX
An extraordinary technology that offers a lifted-look to the eye contour immediately with a lasting visible effect with continued use.”
Next is The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% +EGCG, a product I’ve learned to love. With all the talk about The Ordinary and especially this solution you’d expect miracles immediately. But give your eyes time to get the full benefits and you won’t want to stop using it.
“This light-textured formula contains an extremely high 5% concentration of caffeine, supplemented with highly-purified Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG) from green tea leaves. Independent studies have shown that topical use of each of caffeine and EGCG can help reduce looks of puffiness and of dark circles in the eye contour. Additional studies have shown that caffeine can also reduce the appearance of cellulite.”
I’ve known for dozens of years that caffeine is good for puffiness on our undereye area and I’ve used eye creams that contained it but this one is different. For $6.70 you’ll find a thin but not watery serum.
You need just the tiniest amount. I barely allow any to touch my finger and it’s enough to do both of my eyes. I use this in the morning before I apply anything on my face. At first it feels a little oily, then a little dry, and finally it’s not noticeable at all. I definitely notice a difference in my undereye area on the days I use this. I’ve used it at night too though I live out of two bathrooms and I hate transferring products so it’s now a day asset for me.
Both brands are cruelty free and vegan as well as oil-free and silicone free. Both are products I’d recommend using. BUT… The Ordinary Caffeine Solution is the one I know I’ll keep up with after these bottles are gone. It’s a top seller for the brand and they have trouble keeping it in stock. I’m glad I stuck with it and I’m happy to see that it makes my mantra come true. — MarciaAffiliate disclosure
