Farmaesthetics Sweet Milk Facial Exfoliate

sweet_milk_series-260x320Milk…it does a body good, right? People have been using milk for thousands of years to create beautiful complexions, and the newest exfoliate from Farmaesthetics brings all the benefits of milk to your skin care regimen.

The Sweet Milk Facial Exfoliate ($27.50) is made of ground cornmeal, dried sweet milk, and ground flowers or orange peel depending on the version you have. I was sent the Sweet Milk & Lavender Buds for brightening and balancing complexions to test. Other types available include Sweet Milk & Chamomile Flowers for giving sensitive complexions a nice glow, and Sweet Milk & Orange Peel for balancing oily complexions.

The ground powder is nice because it doesn’t spoil like creamy products do. It also means you won’t be crying over spilled milk! The powder is mixed with any lotion or cream cleanser – Farmaesthetics recommends their Fine Herbal Cleanser, which I haven’t tried – and then used as an exfoliating scrub. You can also leave it as a mask for more intense results.

The lactic acid in milk is a great exfoliant and the cornmeal and ground flowers provide even more exfoliating power. It doesn’t have a fragrance, although I can smell the corn just a little bit. I find this exfoliate to be very gentle and effective.  I have it on a shelf right outside my shower and I reach out and pour some into my hand to mix with facial cleanser. I use it on my face, neck, and decolletage, and the shower makes it very convenient for rinsing off. It leaves my skin fabulously soft, exfoliated, and hydrated – great stuff!

Your mom was right – milk is definitely good for you. You can pick up the Sweet Milk Facial Exfoliate online, at the flagship Farmaesthetics shop in Newport, Rhode Island, at the Four Seasons Resorts and Spa, and at other specialty shops.  – Lisa

ooooh, I love the packaging and the ingredient combos! I need to try this brand

  2. Poppy B. | 25th Feb 16

You know, I’m not particularly crunchy granola, but if the ingredients are cornmeal, dried milk, and lavender buds, I could make it myself.

  3. beautyin | 25th Feb 16

Poppy, you probably could! Here is the actual ingredient list: Ingredients: dried powdered milk*, fine yellow cornmeal & finely ground herbs* (lavender buds*, chamomile flowers*, or orange peels*) (* indicates certified organic ingredients)

4 oz french square glass bottle

Not sure of the amounts for each ingredient, but you’ll have fun experimenting to find the best combo.

I have to admit, this sounds really cool. I didn’t use to love this sort of DIY skincare, but I can see the advantages of it not spoiling, and adding these ingredients to whatever cleanser you know already works for you – especially if you have finicky skin.

    What an interesting concept!
