One day this past December I received an email from Allure magazine asking me to take a survey. I don’t mind taking surveys online if it’s from a trusted source. Well this particular one was a winner for me. It asked me about my hair and what I did to take care of it. Turns out they were looking for people to test out a new hair product. At the end of the survey it said that if I qualified I’d hear from them. I totally forgot about it so was happily surprised when I later got an email telling me I’d been chosen to test these out for them. This had nothing to do with being a blogger. That wasn’t information they knew about, it’s just part of the magazine. If you’ve joined Allure’s Beauty Experts you could be eligible for something like this eventually too.
The first week in January I received a box from them containing Sebastian Color Ignite shampoo and conditioner. My directions were to wash my hair 5 times within 10 days and then to answer the questionnaire they’d be sending me after that.
I not only used these for those 10 days but I’ve been using them ever since. I can’t remember the last time I used a Sebastian hair product other than their terrific hairspray on occasion but this new line has reminded me why the brand is used in so many salons.
Color Ignite is for people who use a single color process on their hair. The shampoo is creamy; I need about a flat quarter amount for my thick shoulder length hair. It suds beautifully but there’s no detergent feel to it. I feel like I’m moisturizing my hair when using this shampoo. The conditioner is the star of the show though. It comes out as a mousse, they call it a “whipped conditioner”. Directions say to leave this on your hair for 2 to 3 minutes. Since there’s no clock in my shower I estimate the time. I finish up with the rest of the shower chores and then rinse it out of my hair. Why do I say this is the star of the show? After wrapping my hair up in an absorbent towel, I comb it through without one single tangle. My comb just glides through my hair. I’m amazed. I haven’t used a conditioner that’s done that for a very long time. (An aside: I used to have my hair straightened with a keratin process which has since grown out. The products recommended for those are not as moisturizing.) It’s a pleasure now to comb through and know there’s no breakage because of snarls.
Here’s the info on Color Ignite Single Tone Conditioner: The whipped foam gives effective spreadibility across all hair fibers to condition and seal the outside layer for long lasting color vibrancy and shine. With pomegranate extract. Specifically designed for single tone color-treated hair.
Application: Remove excess water from hair. Shake well. Work in a tennis ball size amount of product starting at ends toward the roots. Leave for 2 – 3 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
Honestly, I don’t exactly follow the directions. I rub my hands down my wet hair after washing so that’s all the water I get out. Then I divide up the foam and start from my roots and go down toward the ends. (I’m such a rebel.)
I am extremely happy with the way my hair looks since using these products. My second day hair is looking as good as my first day hair and there are many times I can even skip an extra day. The only other item I use on my hair is a serum with argan oil. I don’t spray my hair, I don’t put in other products. I haven’t in years though so the difference must be Sebastian’s Color Ignite line. My color has stayed true throughout. Of course I still have my roots to contend with but that’s the only way you can tell I need to visit my hairdresser. The color has stayed just as rich as when it’s fresh, this last time I waited an unheard of 5 weeks between color appointments. Plus it’s shiny!

According to the evaluation form I filled in these will be available in early March for approximately $15 each. Check out places like Ulta or beauty supply stores that sell Sebastian for these. This is now shown on Sebastian’s website with an explanation video. In addition they also have this for Multi-toned hair.
My only complaint with these is that when I choose to do another keratin straightening in the warm weather I won’t be able to use these since they contain Sodium Chloride which is a no-no for straightening. In the meantime though I’ll continue happily using these two and will purchase them for use when my hair isn’t straightened. — Marcia

I can not wait to try these! Hopefully they are available in Canada
