If you are looking for excellent natural and organic beauty products, you’ve got to check out Good Earth Beauty. We have tried quite a few products from this online store, including some from their own line, and we haven’t been disappointed yet. They recently sent a lip gloss by ZuZu, which is made by Gabriel Cosmetics, and it’s a winner.

ZuZu Luxe Lip Gloss in Caliente

The ZuZu Luxe Lip Gloss ($18.15) is a luscious lip gloss with lots of pigment and lots of shine. The wear is pretty good – it lasts several hours and has great slip. It comes in 12 different colors and I have Caliente, which is an orange-red. I don’t typically reach for red shades because they tend to make my lips look even thinner, but this is a very pretty shade that is bright and somehow works for spring.

Like most natural and organic products, the ZuZu Luxe Lip Gloss is a little more expensive than regular lip glosses. However, when you consider the ingredient list and the fact that it’s cruelty free, I think the extra cost is justified.

Wear red lips for the Lunar New Year

Chinese new year rooster

2017 is the year of the Rooster. It’s just one of the 12 animals that represent the Lunar New Year. There are 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac: the rat, the ox, the tiger, the rabbit, the dragon, the snake, the horse, the goat, the monkey, the rooster, the dog and the pig. Each animal has attributes that are said to be part of their year especially for newborns.

Roosters are considered to be in charge of time, i.e. crowing to greet the day, as well as being hard working and diligent. If you were born in the year of the Rooster your lucky numbers are 5,7. and 8 but avoid 1, 3, and 9. Your lucky flowers are Gladiolas, Cockscomb and Impatiens. Your colors are golden, brown, brownish yellow, and yellow but it’s best to stay away from white and green.

The holiday is celebrated with fireworks in Asian countries and in cities with large Chinese populations. Red is the lucky color for the Lunar New Year which began on January 27th in the evening and is fully celebrated on January 28th, 2017. Celebrants wear red, decorate with red, and receive red paper envelopes with money to start the year with prosperity. Red is believed to ward off bad luck and misfortune. For people born in a year of the Rooster, wearing red underwear is a must for 2017.

ZuZu Luxe Plume Palette brings a new dimension to my eyes while Sandstorm is a treat for my lips

Zuzu Luxe and Gabriel Cosmetics are the right and left hand of the same company. They are both gluten free, vegan, and organic cosmetic companies. These are brands not to be missed.

When I received the Zuzu Luxe Plume Palette I was actually a little disappointed. The colors looked drab in the package so I wasn’t expecting much. Once I swatched it through my mind started to change. When I wore it for the first time my mouth just about dropped open. What I see in the palette comes to life on my eyes and seems like a total different being.

Plume is part of the Volcanique Collection which consists of 4 new eyeshadow palettes ($27.50 each) and 2 new lipsticks ($19.10). Plume is described as “metallic shine for the discrete smokey eye” and that tells a lot about these shadows. There is no glitter at all in this palette and the colors are slightly metallic but not glaringly so. The 4 shades are a light creamy skintone with a sheen, a fabulous smokey light grayish lavender, a gray taupe, and charcoal. I love the second shade, the purple one, because it gives a unique touch to Plume. It’s become my favorite purple shadow. It’s not a pastel but it’s not a bright either. It has a heathered look to it that I feel is appropriate for any age.

The shadows are silky smooth and wear beautifully without fading (over an eyeshadow primer).

The other product I was sent is Zuzu’s new Sandstorm Lipstick which is a total Marcia kind of lipstick. While a nude lipstick isn’t for everyone, it’s what I’m most comfortable wearing.

The description “ZuZu Luxe Sandstorm lipstick is a soft topaz with a delicate transparency and subtle radiance to bring out your smoldering beauty” is not what I would of thought of but their words are better than mine.

Zuzu Luxe Sandstorm

This lipstick is quite adaptable as it looks different depending on what you use with it. I often am in a hurry and just apply the lipstick without a liner and it looks quite nude that way. But when I get serious and use a liner, Sandstorm will take on a new hue depending on the depth of the liner. I’ve worn it with Chanel Nude for a more browned tone, with Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk for a warm tone and with a cool toned liner from IT Cosmetics. All work, all make the lipstick more than “just” a nude.

What I love about the lipstick is that it’s very hydrating. It’s a satin cream texture that doesn’t give me that dry lip look or show my many lines. While a shade this light isn’t for everyone, it’s totally my jam.

KEY INGREDIENTS & PROPERTIES  Jojoba Oil (hydrating, hypoallergenic and long-lasting properties), Aloe Vera (protects the lips from being chapped/dry and has been found to be effective against UV rays.) and Bisabolol (soothing anti-inflammatory properties as well as anti-bacterial action) seal in moisture and protect lips from environmental aggression.

I often hear questions asking about products that are safe for sensitive eyes and I feel that Gabriel and Zuzu Luxe have the answer to these questions. With pure organic ingredients that are safe to use, you really need to investigate the line. Gabriel and Zuzu are sold at health food/organic stores like Whole Food. Online right now, if you spend $25 you’ll receive a bonus of their HOPE lipstick.

Gabriel Lip RX Kit

Gabriel Lip RX Kit

We may be seeing signs of spring at last but that doesn’t mean our lips are ready for spring. While my lips are softer and there are no cracks now that the bitter winds and cold have died down, I still want to keep them in shape. That’s where the ZUZU LUXE LIP RX KIT comes in. This was sent to me months ago and I’ve been using it ever since.

In the great mesh cosmetic bag are two Zuzu Luxe products, the Lip Exfoliator and the Lip RX Stick.

Zuzu Luxe Lip Exfoliator is a gentle yet thorough exfoliator for your lips. It has scrubbers in there but they are natural and not harsh. I try to use this daily when I’m getting ready for the day (though I do forget). Apply it like you would a lipstick and then use your finger to move it around your lips. I rarely have to wipe it off, it seems to quickly absorb without leaving anything behind. You could also use a washcloth to get extra exfoliation with this.

The Lip RX Stick that comes in this $24.95 set is a terrific lip balm that I love under lipstick. It’s non-fragranced and it has no taste so it’s great for me. It looks like a lipstick so it’s a little classier to apply than my typical plastic tubes. It’s smooth and makes my lips feel highly moisturized.

To top it off they come in a great silver mesh cosmetic bag that will make your daily travels a joy. I love seeing what’s in my bags or else I forget!!

Zuzu Luxe and Gabriel Cosmetics are the same company and share a website. Their products are not only cruelty free but they are vegan besides making them good for all consumers who have lips. They support many important movements like Ocean Conservancy, Glutton Free Tolerance Group, American Breast Cancer Society and more. By supporting them you are also supporting these vital groups. There’s a store locator to help you find these two brands. In my area there are two major markets (Whole Foods and Plum Market) that I can find some locally.

It may have taken me too long to officially review them (I did mention them though in my Top Ten Winter Helpers review) but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been getting a lot of use. I’m a huge fan of lip balms and now I’m a fan of this Lip Exfoliator too. Have you ventured into Zuzu and Gabriel products yet? — Marcia
