GoodBeing the natural beauty and wellness subscription

Are you looking for a natural beauty and wellness source? Are you interested in subscription boxes but most send items that you don’t care for? If you can say yes to either of these then GOOD*BEING is a box you want to know more about.good-being-box

GOOD*BEING at one time was called Goodebox which we’ve reviewed previously. The subscription is similar but now it’s more curated to meet your needs. I was sent a sample box to show you the type of products you could receive. Since I didn’t register I received a typical box rather than one chosen specifically for me.

GoodBeing subscription

GoodBeing subscription

The price of their subscription is dependent on how many months you sign up to receive it. A single box to try them out is $21 but you can lower that price by signing up for more months. Shipping is free for the sub so no hidden costs.

On the GoodBeing website it says that you’ll receive 4-5 trial size products but I received 2 full and 3 deluxe trial sizes. I’m pretty sure that’s typical according to my past experience. Each box contains information cards that explain the products fully. Every product is a name brand so you are dealing with brands you’ve heard about and would consider buying.

DR. HAUSCHKA ROSE NURTURING BODY OIL was the first product I noticed in the package. This is a 1 oz version and it’s huge. I’m surprised to find out that the full size is 2.5 oz ($29) since this certainly looks like a full sized product.

Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Oil

Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Oil

Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Oil is a vegan product created to promote a sense of balance and well being. It contains extracts of damask roses and rose essential oil. It also contains jojoba oil. Apply this on moist skin after bathing and your skin will soak in the oil and keep you moisturized all day.

ANNMARIE ROSEMARY PEPPERMINT BODY WASH is another vegan product in the box. This is a sample size of 1 fl oz (full size is $34.95 for 200 ml). This plastic bottle is a great size for travel or to test out to see how much you like it.

Annmarie Rosemary Peppermint Body Wash

Annmarie Rosemary Peppermint Body Wash

The body wash is described as invigorating with an aloe-vera base herb-infuse liquid. This is pH balanced and contains rosemary and essential oil of peppermint. It’s a very refreshing smell as well as an effective body wash.

OSEA OCEAN CLEANSER (vegan) is a facial cleanser in a deluxe sample size 1 oz glass bottle. A full size of 6 oz is $44 making this a $7.25 value. This is recommended for normal, dry and combo skin. It’s a moisturizing cleanser so it doesn’t leave your skin dried out.

OSEA Ocean Cleanser

OSEA Ocean Cleanser

This is a vegan pH-balanced  cleanser that’s rich in minerals, algae, vitamins,  and mineral salts. It’s helpful for reducing the effects of photo-aging and it helps increase collagen production.

DAILY CONCEPTS YOUR DUAL TEXTURE SCRUBBER is the product I’m most excited about from the box. I’ve used this before and loved it. What’s unusual about this full size scrubber ($12) is that it has a tag that says “Replace me when writing fades”. People tend to use some products past their life but bacteria can build up. Even though we want it to be a forever item this is safer.

DAILY CONCEPTS Your Dual Texture Body Scrubber

This vegan product is a great shower tool. It comes with a plastic holder that sticks to the bath wall and a cord to attach it. One side is a soft washcloth feeling that is great for washing your face and body with gentle exfoliation.

The opposite side is a great body exfoliator. When used with a body cleanser (like Annmarie Rosemary Peppermint) it creates rich lather. I really need this side for my very dry feet to keep the flakies at bay.

PURE ANADA EYESHADOW (full size $8) is one of 45 shades available from Pure Anada. It’s a very finely milled mineral eyeshadow.

PURE ANADA eyeshadow

PURE ANADA eyeshadow

The shade I have, Champagne, is a soft shimmer that has just a touch of gold to it. It looks great on my browbone or all over as a shadow base. I recommend using an eyeshadow primer before applying so that it adheres to your eye and doesn’t fade away. This is also vegan.

All in all I think this is a great box with a good value. A single box would be $21 and the value of this particular box is around $45. To receive 5 vegan items is unusual in a subscription. Check out the brands they work with so you can know before you buy!  —  Marcia

Pacifica helps make sure you are so pretty!

IMG_3336One of our favorite Vegan, cruelty-free lines is PACIFICA. They are all about serving the highest good of both women and the environment. Their products are 100% Vegan, cruelty-free and certified by PETA.

Four winners from Pacifica

Four winners from Pacifica

I love their cleansing wipes and now they are moving fast to the top of my list for their cosmetics. I have some excellent products to tell you about today because they sent me some great items to test –  Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette, Natural Eye Pencils, and Stellar Gaze Mascara.

Pacifica Power of Love Palette

Pacifica Power of Love Palette

Marcia wrote about the beautiful Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette ($19.99), which you can read HERE.  This beautiful palette is full of creamy matte and shimmery eyeshadows:  Mysterious, Bare, Falling Star, Spirited, Devoted, Shine On, Treasure, Crush, Soul, and Luna. This is a beautiful palette with a great combination of every day and dramatic shades.

Pacifica Eye Pencils

Pacifica Natural Eye Pencils

The Natural Eye Pencils ($11) are highly pigmented and go on wonderfully smooth. The color lasts for a very long time – I find they wear as long as gel liner does for me without any smudging. Plus, they have excellent ingredients including Jojoba Oil, Shea Butter, Vitamin E and Vitamin C. Fringe is a deep brown and Jet is a dark black. If you are a fan of eye lining pencils, these are a real treat.

Pacifica Stellar Gaze Mascara

Pacifica Stellar Gaze Mascara

I am so picky about mascara…I want length, volume, and most importantly no smudging. Pacifica Stellar Gaze Mascara ($14) does everything I want and at a great price too. It has a big thick brush and this mineral mascara has coconut oil and vitamin B to condition and strengthen lashes.

Pacifica Natural Eye Pencils and Stellar Gaze Mascara

Pacifica Natural Eye Pencils and Stellar Gaze Mascara

In the top pic I am wearing Fringe Eyeliner and in the bottom pick I am wearing Jet. I am wearing Stellar Gaze Mascara in both, although only on my top lashes. I rarely do my bottom lashes because with mascara they are so long they look kind of freaky. You will also be happy to know that I sported this look – a different shade of eyeliner on each eye – to both the gas station and the grocery store, totally forgetting I had one eye lined with Fringe and one with Jet for blog photos. Now no one has any doubt at all about the depth of my weirdness.

I am really impressed with Pacifica. It’s a great vegan and cruelty-free line with wonderful beauty products. You can find Pacifica online and at stores like Target, Ulta, and Whole Foods.  – Lisa

My Beauty Bunny Cruelty-Free All-Natural AHA Moisturizer review

My Beauty Bunny is a blogger who only blogs about cruelty free items. Jen from My Beauty Bunny, Phyrra, and Tashina from Logical Harmony are the three bloggers I read and trust when it comes to this category. Jen created a moisturizer with Nicki of Future Derm and named it My Beauty Bunny Cruelty-Free All-Natural AHA Moisturizer. I was sent one to test and after several months I’m ready to give you the lowdown.

beauty bunny moisturizer

MBB Moisturizer is a lightweight lotion in a bottle. The packaging is great since your fingers don’t contaminate the product when you want to use it. What makes this stand out is that it’s 100% Natural. It isn’t loaded with chemicals, it’s loaded with things like aloe vera, squalane from olives, bilberry fruit, citrus fruit extract and the list goes on (see ingredients at the end). All of these items are good for your skin.

Because this is an AHA moisturizer it’s also lightly exfoliating your skin behind the scenes. Mostly when I think of exfoliation I think of scrubs, microderm products and the like. But this has gentle exfoliating and line minimizing AHAs that are made from fruit acids. It also has ingredients like green, red and white tea which will protect your skin from premature aging. It’s a moisturizer for all ages, shapes and sizes!!

I always mention fragrance and My Beauty Bunny Cruelty-Free All-Natural AHA Moisturizer does have a fragrance. It’s a cranberry grapefruit scent that I notice upon application yet minutes later it’s not noticeable. When I use this during the day I always apply a separate sunscreen since it doesn’t have it. I often use this at night, especially if I’m seeing some breakouts starting on my skin, and I don’t need to worry about spf then.

If you are looking for a moisturizer that is Vegan, Cruelty Free,
Paraben free, sulfate free, synthetic dye free, synthetic fragrance free, petrochemical free, GMO free, and Triclosan free here’s the answer!

Happily this is on sale for $15.60 at Future Derm so take advantage of this special while you can. — Marcia

Evanhealy for sensitive, problem skin

Every new decade in life brings different skin issues.  In my teens I battled blemishes and super oily skin.  My twenties brought less frequent acne, but the monthly breakouts were terrible.  My thirties brought fine lines, dry areas, and hyperpigmentation. And my forties?  They have brought me puffy eyes, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sensitive skin…and blemishes yet again!  It’s not easy to find a skin care line that can successfully address all of those woes, but evanhealy makes the grade.

I learned about this line when Marcia first reviewed the Rose Face Care Kit here.  The creator of the line is Evan Healy, an aesthetician, who is extremely passionate about taking a holistic approach to skin care.  All of her products are organic and Vegan, and are based upon traditional plant lore, aromatherapy, homeopathy, and Ayurveda.  The motto of her line is “the skin breathes”.  Every single product is handmade in the U.S. in micro batches.  It’s just a beautiful line inside and out, and I find that many of her products are perfect for me depending on what my crazy mid-forties skin is doing at the moment.

I tried two of her Face Care Kits, which give you smaller sizes of products that last for up to two weeks of use.  It’s a great way to try an assortment of products for a small initial investment.  These kits are also absolutely perfect for travel.

The first kit I tried was the Blue Face Care Kit ($29.95).    This kit has five products that work for sensitive skin, with enough for at least 14 days of treatment.  (Mine actually lasted longer than that – I got at least 20 days out of my kit.)

The products in this kit are:

Blue Lavender Cleansing Milk (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a very gentle, creamy cleanser that doesn’t foam up.  It has white kaolin clay in it, which gets rid of dry skin cells, leaving your skin clear.  The rosehip seed oil helps to moisturize the skin, and it leaves your skin nice and soft.  It has a definite lavender scent, which may be a problem for those with fragrance issues.  It never irritated my skin, not even when my skin was being extremely difficult.

Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosol (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a great, gentle toner that calms, soothes, and hydrates the skin.  It also smells of lavender but it’s softer than the cleanser, and the scent dissipates quickly.

Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum – Blue (4 ml, 0.13 fl.oz)

This serum has a light herbal scent that takes a while to dissipate.  The serum feels very silky, not oily at all, and it’s full of omega-3 and -6 essential fatty acids, as well as Vitamins A and C.  It smooths fine lines and wrinkles, and it helps to fade hyperpigmentation as well as scars.  I find it to be incredibly healing, particularly on fading blemishes.

Blue Chamomile Day Moisturizer (5 ml, 0.17 fl.oz)

This has a very light, barely noticeable herbal scent.  It’s a great moisturizer for blemished areas because it gives the hydration the skin needs without clogging the pores.  It really does calm red, irritated skin and leaves it feeling super soft.

Green Tea Clay (3 gm, 0.1 oz)

This little jar is full of dry Green Tea Clay that you mix with water to form a paste.  I love that it’s the dry ingredients, so there’s no worry that the mask will dry out in the jar before you can use it all.  This mask absorbs excess oil, draws blemishes and blackheads to the surface and gets rid of the bacteria causing the breakouts.  It also exfoliates the skin and calms red, irritated areas.  It’s a terrific mask that is particularly effective when you use it right after a facial steam bath.

The second kit I tried was the Blemish Face Care Kit ($33.95).  Even though this is billed for teens, I need it as my skin breaks out at least once a month, sometimes more often.  The five products in this box are supposed to last for seven to ten days of treatment, but like the Blue Kit, I got many more than ten days out of it.

The products in this kit are:

Tea Tree Gel Cleanser (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

This is a pH balanced non-soap cleanser.  You only need a tiny bit, it makes a light foam that really deep cleans and helps disinfect the skin.  It has a very slight herbal scent that dissipates immediately.  When my skin is breaking out, I mix a little of this with the Green Tea Clay mask and some water for a terrific cleansing exfoliation.

Orange Blossom Facial Tonic Hydrosol OR Lavender Facial Tonic Hydrosol (30 ml, 1 fl.oz)

Due to limited season availability of the Orange Blossom Tonic, the Lavender Tonic may be substituted.  In my Face Kit, I got the Lavender Tonic, which is reviewed above.

Pomegranate Repair Serum (4 ml, 0.13 fl.oz)

This serum has a little heavier feel to it than the Rosehip Treatment Facial Serum reviewed above.  It’s pretty amazing stuff – somehow it manages to moisturize dry areas, yet also treat blemishes so they heal up quickly.  It leaves your skin silky smooth.  It’s full of anti-oxidents and is great for calming down inflamed, irritated skin.

Green Tea Clay (3 gm, 0.1 oz)  This is the same mask as the one in the Blue Face Care Kit, and is reviewed above.

Blemish Treatment Roll-On (5 ml, 0.17 fl.oz)

This is a great blemish treatment that is free of drying alcohol.  It disinfects blemishes without irritating and aggravating the skin.  It’s very gentle yet effective.

If you are looking for a skincare line, look into evanhealy. The fact that they have these try me kits makes it perfect to know what works for you without shelling out a lot of money. Both if these kits worked for me and the Rose Face Care Kit worked for Marcia so it’s thumbs up from the BIZ.– Lisa
