Cynthia Rowley and Tweezerman team up for quality and beauty

Tweezerman teams up with Cynthia Rowley

When was the last time you bought a tweezers? I bet it’s been a long time. I’ve talked to so many people who don’t realize that their tweezers just don’t work the same way that they used to. You drop it (or at least I do) and don’t realize that the tip isn’t quite the same. You use it over and over and don’t realize that the grip isn’t quite as powerful as it used to be. Here’s an idea. Buy yourself a present from Tweezerman. Get a new tweezers. Then send in your old Tweezerman to be sharpened for free. They have a lifetime guarantee. You can read all about it right here.

Now that I have your attention I want to share some of the newest Tweezerman products. Tweezerman is always chosen by magazines like Allure as the Best of Beauty because their original slant tip tweezers are so amazing. They are precise and slanted just so to grab every hair. Every year Tweezerman picks a designer to be part of their series and this year it’s Cynthia Rowley, the fashion designer. She’s created several sporty looking tweezers along with a coordinating nail file.

You have your choice of her Sporty Foulard prints in either Light Blue or Cobalt Blue for $25. There’s also a red mini-slant one for $15. My eyes would certainly light up if I got one of these for my upcoming birthday or the winter holidays.

Another great Tweezerman tool with the Cynthia Rowley touch is the Filemate in the same sporty design. This is only $5 and comes in a slim case so you can carry it with you without destroying the integrity of it. Tweezerman is as expert in nail tools as they are in eyebrow and eye tools.

Beauty Spotlight Team takes you to a Desert Island

Packed and ready for the desert island

Welcome to the first edition of Beauty Spotlight Team On A Desert Island. The Beauty Spotlight Team has shown you our makeup bags and also a “mystery” post about things you’d never seen that we like. Now we’re deserting each of the bloggers on a “desert island” to see their interpretation of this challenge. The rules are that we can bring a bag holding only twelve items. We aren’t bringing sunscreen or lip balm because our desert island will have a stash of that. Civilization rules when it comes to beauty bloggers. We hope you will be looking forward to our future posts.

You’d think that think that this would be an easy assignment. After all finding twelve items that you love isn’t hard at all. Until you try to put it together that is. I had several dilemmas. First do I want to look glamorous? I’m not sure who I’m looking glamorous for though. Second do I need to just pamper my skin so that when the rescue ship comes to get me I won’t look like Tom Hanks or his basketball. Third this reminds me of the book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie”. As soon as you pick one item you need more to go with it. Pick an eyeliner and you need a brush or sharpener. Pick eyeshadow or powder products and you need tools. The list could go on and you’d still want a cookie. I’ve decided to bend the rules a tiny bit. Some of these items are my Holy Grails and some are things I like a lot but could switch if needed. But they all are items I’d enjoy on my stay on the desert island.

12 items for my adventure

Here are the 12 in no particular order:

1. Anastasia’s Want You to Want Me Eye Shadow Palette– this is my cheat. This amazing set is all in one box though so I’m counting it as one even though in reality there are 4 items in it. There’s a beautiful e/s palette with 9 shades in the brown and purple families, a small liquid eyeliner in black, a mini clear brow gel and a small two sided brush. Plus the box has a nice size mirror so that crosses that off my list. This will be reviewed in full soon but believe me it’s “desert island” worthy.

2. 3Lab Perfect BB Cream – this was one of my choices in the recent Makeup Wars. The reason I picked this particular BB cream is that the tube is easier to travel with than the Skin79 cylinder and I don’t notice any lingering fragrance. I figured that a BB cream is everything I need for my skin during the day and it’s light enough that it won’t be melting off in the sun.

3. Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender – which is a Holy Grail item for me. I use this almost every day (on the other days I’ll use powder especially IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores). The problem with the Mally is “if you give a mouse a cookie”…

4. then you need the applicator. So number 4 is the Mally Ultimate Performance Sponge applicator which is perfect for the Pore Defender.

5. MAC 217 brush is next. I have a ton of brushes but this is the most versatile and reliable for the way I apply eyeshadow.

6. Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Waterproof Concealer, another HG item. It’s perfect for my undereye area and I rely on this to hide the dark circles daily.

7. Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tint in Sweet for my lip product. I love the color and the feel plus it winds up so I don’t need to worry about sharpening this lip crayon.

8. Tweezerman Pro Curl Eyelash Curler is going with me but I don’t have room for mascara. I love the eyelash curler and if I at least curl my lashes it’s not too bad plus I’d probably cheat and use the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel on my lashes instead since my eyebrows aren’t great.

9.  Youngblood Luminous Cream blush in Taffeta which is very close to being a Holy Grail blush. I wear this more than any other blush I own. The color works well too with my Tarte Lipsurgence and the Anastasia eyeshadow colors.

10. Algenist Eye Renewal Balm– this is my current favorite. I’m a slut when it comes to eye creams and this eye balm is one of my favorite “customers”.

11. Tweezerman tweezers– if I didn’t take this I’d look like Santa Claus when I was picked up. I’d have a beard! My Tweezerman tweezers are absolute HG material.

12.  Another cheat is coming – my Adventuress Skin Care travel set. I just reviewed this and while I was debating what my 12th item would be I realized that this kit is perfect – cleanser, SPF that is good for my face, skin purifier and a moisturizer I’d use at night especially.

This sounds like a lot but think of everything I left out: shampoo, conditioner, a comb or brush, eye makeup remover, body lotion, tooth brush and toothpaste etc. I just hope I have a Twistband in my hair when I’m taken away to the island since that will at least keep my hair a little tidy. I wonder if the mouse will be a stowaway in my bag! Are any of these on your Desert Island list? — Marcia

Which of these would you take?

Some favorites by Tweezerman

Little things can make a big difference, especially when it comes to beauty tools. Tweezerman is usually the first line I turn to for those tiny but mighty beauty accessories.  I love that this line is available at Target, CVS, Bed Bath & Beyond, and lots of other places so it’s easy to find.  And Tweezerman isn’t just for tweezers.  They have some terrific items that have become necessities for me.  I cannot do without the Tweezerman Br0w Trimming Scissors ($18).

These scissors are total perfection for trimming eyebrows.  The contour is amazing, making it super easy to trim the brows, and the blades are very sharp so they cut cleanly and precisely.  The scissors come with this eyebrow spoolie brush:

Just brush your brows upward with the eyebrow brush, then use the scissors to trim away the excess.  Trimmed brows make a HUGE difference in your look – goodness knows you don’t want to look like this guy!

He needs some Tweezerman.

Another favorite of mine is the Tweezerman Folding Lashcomb ($9.50).  Marcia raved and raved about this little prize, and after trying it just once I understood why.  This has a golden lash comb that is fantastic for combing out mascara clumps and separating the lashes.

You can fold it however you need to get at your lashes, and when you are done the gold teeth are fully protected when stored completely closed.

Little things can make such a difference, and having trimmed brows and clump-free lashes will change your whole look for the better.  Don’t just think of Tweezerman for tweezers, give these two little gems a try!  – Lisa

My eyes love Tweezerman! ProCurl Lash Curler Review

What do you think when you are reading magazines and seeing the latest mascara ads? I doubt you believe that anyone’s lashes can be that intense, that glamorous or that lush. Not even a close up of my lashes or photoshop could make my lashes look like that but if I have the right tools then I can at least create the best lashes possible for me personally. Two of those right tools are by Tweezerman. I’ve used Tweezerman’s ilashcomb for years and years; way before writing about beauty was even a twinkle in my mind; way before I even had a computer actually. What’s new for me is Tweezerman’s ProCurl Lash Curler and that is changing my lashes as much as my ilashcomb does.

Tweezerman ProCurl Curler

Tweezerman ilashcomb

Tweezerman has long made eyelash curlers that sell for about $12 but now they’ve created the gold standard in the ProCurl Curler for $20. This lovely rose gold lash curler is their newest addition to the line and it’s a winner.

Tweezerman ProCurl Curler

Tweezerman ProCurl Lash Curler

What makes this eyelash curler different from their previous one or even others on the market? The top is narrower and wider therefore it is much more apt to fit all eye shapes. The handle has a double design that makes it fit more comfortably in my hand. It’s also a sturdier lash curler than their old one. I get great leverage with this. I find that I don’t have to position and reposition to get it to curl my lashes, something I absolutely hate. I get it right the first time.

It never pinches, never! The rounded silicone pads fit the eyelash curler exactly so you never have metal touching your lashes. Plus unlike any other eyelash curler on the market it comes with refill pads. THREE refill pads. That’s unheard of. You might find a lash curler that comes with one extra but good luck ever buying a replacement pad. With Tweezerman you get three extras because they know how long lasting this lash curler is.

But what really counts even more than all of these other items is how well it curls my lashes. I get a beautiful bend to my lash that looks natural yet lasts. I don’t get a crimp in my lashes, I get a bend that starts at the base and makes my lashes look lusher. I have stick straight eyelashes. If I just put mascara on they look ridiculous and don’t add anything to my eyeshadow efforts. I feel dumpy. But curling my lashes, even if I don’t have any eye makeup on, makes a huge difference. It opens up my eyes instantly.

I know you aren’t supposed to recurl your lashes after you have mascara on so pretend I didn’t write this but I often do that in the evening. I want to refresh my makeup without adding on more layers of mascara that might get clumpy so I’ll curl my lashes again, take out my Tweezerman ilashcomb and I’m ready to go.

These two tools are so important in my arsenal that I’m not giving them up no matter what. There’s so much to love about Tweezerman and these two are right there at the top of the list. — Marcia

Gilligan, here I come

If you could pick one thing to grab to take on that proverbial desert island, what would it be? That question must be asked on beauty boards a thousand times a year. My answer is always a tweezer. (We’re going to assume that this desert island already has sunscreen in my scenario.)  If I didn’t have a tweezer I’d look like a grumpy old man within weeks. I’d be a grumpy old woman, that’s for sure. I’m also going to grab something else though and that’s my Floxite 9x Magnifying Lighted Mirror.

For my tweezers it’s going to be Tweezerman. No contest. I can’t be without my slanted Tweezerman tweezers. I have them everywhere – purse, next to my computer, both bathrooms, travel kit. I am not going to be without a tweezers if I can help it. I see or feel a hair and it has to go! For me this brand is perfection. These tweezers grab the hair without grabbing the skin. They pull evenly without leaving half behind. They stay sharp plus Tweezerman sharpens for free (see the package for the information on where you’d send them to be resharpened.) The pictured one was a gift from my friend Rachel and it’s so me! Hearts! I love everything with hearts so to put hearts on a tweezers is close to nirvana.  I also have a Tweezerman in blue, red and black!! The prices range from $20 to $25.

I know you’ve all heard of Tweezerman but what you may not have heard about is Floxite mirrors. I’ve had my Floxite 9x Magnifying Mirror Light for Travel and Home for about 8 years and it’s still going strong. This is available at Rialto Mirrors ($50). This mirror is a tweezer lover’s dream.  I use this every single night. I can see every little thing in this mirror (which isn’t always good). But it really helps me get rid of those unwanted hairs.

Floxite has improved the mirror since I bought mine. It now has 3 levels of light: day/office, evening and soft spotlight. I’m not sure what to call mine but I’d guess soft spotlight. It’s called a home and travel mirror because you can fold this if you wanted but I think it’s on the big and heavy side for flying. The mirror itself is 8 inches in diameter and is distortion free. I can also use this mirror for putting on my makeup but I have a feeling that one of these days I’ll have to buy their 15x mirror for that. QVC carries a selection of Floxite mirrors including the 15x one.

If you are looking for a mirror so that you don’t have to be a grumpy bearded lady then this is the brand for you. — Marcia
