Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the king’s horses and all the queen’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again
My personal version:
Blogger Marcia was in the hall
Blogger Marcia had a great fall
All the nurses and rehab men
Couldn’t put Marcia’s hair together again
You’ve read about my travails over and over since August. It affected my life in more ways than one. Not only was my leg broken at the knee but the trauma caused me to lose massive amounts of hair and eyelashes. Unfortunately this wasn’t the first time I lost hair but at least I know it could grow back with the right treatment.
Shortly before I was hospitalized I had bought Viviscal Extra Strength Dietary Supplements and took it for a few weeks because I knew my body needed more Biotin and no one has a better reputation than Viviscal. In the hospital and rehab they weren’t giving me anything other than my regular prescriptions and a multi-vitamin. I didn’t consider asking for the Viviscal from home because that’s not where my mind was.
When Viviscal emailed me by chance to test this and their shampoo and conditioner, you know what the answer was.
Now that I’ve been using this combination for the last 4 months I can tell you that I’m one happier woman and one with healthier and fuller hair. I take the supplements morning and evening. I used the shampoo and conditioner for 6 weeks before stopping to test other products but I still use it at least once a week no matter what else I’m testing.
Viviscal Extra Strength Dietary Supplements come in a one month or three month supply. The prices on their website are $49.99 and $119.99. To be honest though I’ve bought mine from Amazon since it’s less expensive there. There’s a ton of information about the supplements so I’ll try to condense. Viviscal Extra Strength dietary supplements contain the exclusive marine complex AminoMar®, as well as Biotin, Zinc, Vitamin C, Horsetail Extract and Iron, to nourish hair from within. Not only are you getting the Biotin that we’ve learned is great for hair but it’s supplemented with marine complex AminoMar®.
The Gentle Shampoo and Moisturizing Conditioner ($19.99 each) are free from SLS, SLES, Parabens, Artificial Colors, Artificial Fragrances and Mineral Oils. They are 96 – 99% derived from natural sources. The shampoo cleanses, conditions and exfoliates the dead skin cells on your head. The shampoo is on the thin side and is almost gel like and doesn’t lather which doesn’t matter since it’s very effective.
Viviscal Moisturizing Conditioner is very thick. I have to keep my bottle upside down to make it easier to squeeze out. It’s a light conditioner that never weighs my hair down. Not only is this moisturizing but my hair is soft after using. It also leaves my hair smooth and with a little more volume.
I no longer cry when I wash my hair. My shower wall and afterwards sink used to be filled with gobs and gobs of hair. That’s not the case now. Everyone has hair fallout, that’s shedding, just like a pet sheds. My hair feels more healthy, is staying ON my head and the cycle is broken. To continue this way I am continuing with Viviscal Supplements for as long as I can. The science is behind Viviscal and I really believe in it. There’s a different supplement for men though the haircare items are the same. Since they don’t have fragrance they work equally well for all. Viviscal has a Healthy Hair Club that you can join to get free shipping and automatic delivery as well as save money.
Now that you’ve read my long story it’s time to try it yourself. If you are a US Beauty Info Zone subscriber we have a giveaway for the 3 month supply of the Viviscal Supplements, a bottle of the Gentle Shampoo and the Moisturizing Conditioner. This is open through 2/26/15 at 11:59 p.m. EST. If comments close please write your comment on our Facebook page or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with your comment and then continue on. I wish you luck with both the giveaway and with having renewed, healthy hair like I do now. — Marcia

When HUM Nutrition contacted Beauty Info Zone about trying some of their products I was a little hesitant only because it’s hard for a non-physician to be saying to you that this nutritional supplement would be good for you to take. When I looked into it more though I realized that if it was a brand that Sephora had tested and sells that it was a brand I’d like to try. Now that I’ve used it for 30 days I’m ready to recommend it and luckily I can offer it to you in a giveaway. (More information on that later!)
HUM makes many types of nutritional supplements that are sold at Sephora. I was most interested in Runway Ready ($35) because it targets two beauty areas – hair and nails. I need all the help I can get for my hair and I want to keep my nails strong.
Runway Ready comes in this great hot pink box which I kept on my bathroom counter so I wouldn’t forget to take it. There are 30 packs inside with 3 pills in each.
There are two types of supplements in a pack — Red Carpet (hair and skin) and Killer Nails (hair and nails). Red Carpet are non GMO vegetarian soft gels of GLA, ALA, and Vitamin E. Sephora says: “Made from bio-available nutrients from black currant and sunflower seeds, Red Carpet’s healthy essential fats support fuller, shinier hair and glowing skin. It works to support the skin’s glow through increased skin moisture and protection, while supporting fuller, shinier hair through hair follicle support.*”
The white capsule is Killer Nails™, a biotin capsule, water soluble B-complex vitamins that are important for cell growth and the production and metabolism of fat into amino acids. This is also vegetarian, non-GMO and gluten free.
In my opinion, taking these supplements are helping my skin look better, my hair shinier and slightly fuller, and my nails stronger. If you want that for yourself then you should consider buying either Runway Ready or the individual bottles of Red Carpet and Killer Nails.
First though, you can enter our GIVEAWAY since we will have 4 winners (US only) that will win a box of Runway Ready. This great giveaway runs through August 25th at 11:59 p.m. (If comments aren’t open please comment on our Facebook page or email me at email@example.com) — Marcia

Beauty starts inside – a review of NeoCell Beauty Bursts, Keratin Hair Volumizer and Eat Pretty + giveaway
Today I want to share two products with you that are award winners. Neocell’s Keratin Hair Volumizer was named the Best New Product in Delicious Living’s Beauty and Body Awards. The other product, Beauty Bursts, has won several prestigious awards, including a Best of Natural Beauty award from Better Nutrition, a Taste for Life Essentials award and the award for Best Beauty Supplement from Delicious Living. Today I’ll talk about them and at the end you’ll be able to enter a giveaway to try to win these for yourself.
I received these products from their PR company and I’ve been using them myself. I’m not a doctor (obviously) but I can tell you what I found with these and what I like about them. As with any supplement you should consult with your doctor before taking them.
NeoCell Keratin Hair Volumizer
NeoCell Keratin Hair Volumizer are pills that you take morning and evening to help regain the shine and beauty of your hair. As I’ve aged I’ve found that the thick head of hair that was my glory isn’t quite the same. My hair has gotten thinner and takes more to make it look quite as lustrous as it used to. This supplement was created to work on your hair from the inside. It contains Vitamin C to help with collagen formation; Amla Extract, a centuries old Ayurvedic plant that is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory for strong hair growth; soluble keratin; and Super Collagen. The result is stronger and brighter hair that is helping with the thinning. Just as important as what’s in it is what’s NOT in it – soy, wheat, lactose, starch, yeast, or artificial flavors. gluten free.
While I’ve finished my bottle I found it online at places like the Vitamin Shoppe, Vita Cost and drugstore.com for under $20.
Beauty Bursts Gourmet Collagen Soft Chews
The other item that I’ve been using for the last few months is Beauty Bursts Soft Chews by NeoCell. These also add collagen to my life with Vitamin C and Collagen 1 & 3. In addition to helping strengthen my hair, these strengthen my nails as well. This winter has been especially hard on us. From previous experience I know that my nails become more brittle in winter but this year I’ve been using these soft chews and haven’t had breaks (where’s the wood to go knock on!!!!). They are available in two delicious flavors. As a dedicated chocoholic I prefer the Chocolate Mint ones and they also come in Fruit Punch. Directions say to take 2 – 4 per day. I take 2 after dinner as a little snack. A 60 count bag will last me a month for under $20.
EAT PRETTYFor a change of pace I have a book that I’ve been reading and have found to be a great source of information. It’s called Eat Pretty – Nutrition for Beauty, Inside and Out. The author, Jolene Hart is a beauty and health coach who’s been certified by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
The author describes the beauty nutrition of the foods we eat or the foods we should eat but maybe don’t. We know why we should have green leafy vegetables for our health but do we know what they do for our looks?
She divides foods up into the seasons that they’ll be the freshest and most prevalent in. “Spring Beauty Awakening”, “Abundant Summer Beauty”, “Restore and Recharge in Autumn”, and “Glow Through the Winter”. In addition to all the reasons to eat each kind of food she has included some recipes. The MSRP is $16.95 but you can find it for less on Amazon (book or kindle).
Now that you know some of my ‘beauty secrets’ decide for yourself if you’d like to try out the two NeoCell products and enter this giveaway. It’s US only and open through March 11, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

It’s not easy to review supplements. They aren’t like a lipstick or blush, something with immediate results and gratification.
But I know what makes me feel good and I know what doesn’t make me feel good. Imedeen sent the BIZ some samples of the Imedeen Time Perfection ($65) for review a few months ago and I have been taking them ever since.
Imedeen Time Perfection is a skin care supplement geared towards women who are in their forties. I don’t like taking pills but I find these tablets are easy to take and the packs are very convenient.
So why take them? Because they have all kinds of great ingredients that promote healthy skin from the inside. Imedeen says their supplements will:
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Improves skin quality and moisture balance
- Helps protect collagen and elastin fibers against oxidative damage with key nutrients
- Makes skin on face and body feel softer and more supple
We do so much every day to protect and nourish our skin on the outside. It really makes sense to take the right supplements that protect and nourish our skin from the inside – that’s what builds the foundation for beautiful, healthy skin.
My skin is looking and feeling better and better every day and I know that it’s because I have started to pay attention to my inner health. I have had great results using Imedeen, if you are in the market for an excellent skin care supplement then definitely check this out. Check out Marcia’s posts about Imedeen HERE and HERE to learn even more about this pill including the ingredients. – Lisa

As many readers know I’m an eyeshadow fanatic. I want to own them all and I obsess about them. It brings out any artistic side I have. As much as I love my eyeshadows (and mascara and eyeliner and lipstick and and and) they wouldn’t make a difference in my life if my skin wasn’t in the best shape. Your skin is what people notice first and what leaves them with an impression of you.
For the past month I’ve not only been using wonderful skincare from a variety of companies but I’ve been taking IMEDEEN® Time Perfection. I take two pills a day to help my skin retain moisture and suppleness. IMEDEEN® Time Perfection was created for women like me, the over 40 crowd. The company has 3 different products – DermaOne for 30+, Time Perfection for 40+ and Prime Renewal for 50+. IMEDEEN® Time Perfection meets my particular skincare needs by going deeper into the dermal layer where aging begins. I like to think that I look younger than my age and the main reason is my skin. I plan on keeping it that way and IMEDEEN® is already helping.
When I read the ingredients of IMEDEEN® Time Perfection I knew that it fit in well with the other supplements I take. This contains a marine complex so just like I take fish oil for my heart, I feel comfortable taking Imedeen for my skin. These tablets are said to reduce fine lines and wrinkles on face and body! I’ve started to see a difference in my 30 days and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future will bring with these. Today’s post is just a basic introduction to these since I believe that skincare should be used at least 6 weeks or longer before reporting on it. And this is skincare even though it’s not a cream or lotion. My plan is to update at the end of January about the results I’m seeing plus at that time I’ll be offering a giveaway for a 90 day supply to one of the Beauty Info Zone readers.
IMEDEEN® has been making supplements since 1991 but they are only recently more readily available at a retailer near you or online. You can purchase a one month supply for $77 or a three month supply for $206 at Imedeen’s website. If my skin continues on the path that Imedeen has started I’ll be putting aside that amount of money to keep it up. I’ll be back in a month to let you know. — Marcia
*these were received for review purposes
This post is going to be unusual for Beauty Info Zone. I always write reviews of beauty products but today’s is not exactly a review, it’s more of a report. I was sent products from SeabuckWonders for the blog. Since some of these are ingested rather than topical I don’t feel right to review them. If there’s any time the term “your mileage may vary” is appropriate it’s this one. If you want to learn about the ingredient Sea Buckthorn and a great brand that contains this as its major ingredient, this is the post for you. There are several brands of skincare that have adopted Sea Buckthorn as their main component, including SeabuckWonders, so it’s good to gain knowledge of it and see if it’s right for you.
Sea Buckthorn has been featured on the Dr. Oz show three times so it’s in the news. It’s considered a super fruit since it originates as a berry. As a matter of fact SeabuckWonders is the only line of products made from USDA certified organic sea buckthorn berries. They’ve been specializing in the super fruit for over 16 years.
The products I have are Sea Buckthorn Oil Blend Omega-7 Complete Softgels, Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil Softgels, Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil, and Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil.
Sea Buckthorn Oil Blend Omega-7 Complete – this is a gel capsule that is taken as a dietary supplement. By taking 2 capsules daily you’d be receiving high levels of Omega-7. It combines the Seed Oil and the Berry Oil so you are getting the best of both in each capsule. It’s good for cell membrane protection and nourishment; is an anti-oxidant that helps with immunity support; and it promotes natural healing. There are 60 softgels in the jar and retail is $30.
Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil and Softgels – two forms of the same product. The Seed Oil is high in Omega 3, 6, and 9 along with Vitamins A & E. This powerful antioxidant is recommended for people who have serious health problems and/or are going through radiation and chemotherapy. It helps with immunity support and is good for your liver, kidney, prostate, joints, brain, stomach, and white blood cell count. With the softgels the jar contains 60 capsules and you’d take 2 a day (retail $32.99). You can cut into them to use them topically if you want or you can buy the jar of Seed Oil (retail $32.99) if you want to use it topically.
Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil – this also contains Omega-7 along with Vitamins C, A & D plus SOD (superoxide dismutase). The Berry Oil is what was on the Dr. Oz show that he raved about. It was shown on the show that it helps with everything from gum pain (just rub it on) to the skin’s appearance as well as influencing weight management. It contains 100% pure Sea Buckthorn Berry Oil. It’s a light orange in color and when applying it on your skin you might notice an orange tone at first. It is temporary though and only lasts 10-30 minutes but you can wash it off too. If you decide to ingest this it’s recommended that you take 30-70 drops twice daily on an empty stomach. I couldn’t figure out how much a drop was so it wasn’t good for me orally. I did mix it into my night cream though a few times and liked the combination. Unfortunately a night cream won’t help with my weight! ($24.99)
Here are a few more reasons why you should consider SeabuckWonders:
– The Sea Buckthorn oil in their supplements is 100% pure, there’s nothing else in them. They are certified organic and certified kosher. Plus they are vegan and gluten free.
– Omega-7 is hailed as a special nutrient that may protect, replenish, moisten and restore the skin and mucus membranes that line the digestive and urogenital tracts.
– They are very high in Omega-7; 30-35% is the highest dosage available. Omega-7 is the key to healthy hair, skin, and nails as well as helping with gastrointestinal health.
– Sea Buckthorn Oil is very versatile. You can add it to your current products (lotions, masks, sspf, hair products) and even to your food.
– Berry Oil has the majority of the fruit’s Omega-7 content and is considered the healer of the brand.
It’s my belief that before you try any remedies like this that you should check with your physician. With some conditions there are counter indications with many OTC products. Dr. Oz may be a great doctor but he doesn’t know you and your history. If you are unsure about ingesting these products though you might want to consider mixing the oils with products you have or trying their Sea Buckthorn Facial Cream or Body Lotion. I’d love to know if you’ve tried Sea Buckthorn before so please share. – Marcia
