SPELA Paint & Play

SPELA Paint & Play

Is there anything better than a new lipstick? Makeup lovers throughout the world choose a lipstick as their most wanted product time and again. This year we’ve seen Liquid Lipsticks take over from the traditional lipstick and of those liquid lipsticks it’s the matte lip that rules. Whether you are a fan of matte lipsticks or not, you can’t avoid them so you might as well join them. One such brand is a new one, SPELA COSMETICS.                          sample

SPELA Cosmetics is a small brand so far. They’ve created 8 Paint & Play Liquid Lipsticks that sell for $18 each or you can purchase one of 4 duos for $30. The philosophy of SPELA is that they wanted to create vegan, cruelty-free lipsticks that go beyond the certification of US standards and use E.U. Compliance as their guideline. In Europe there are 1300 banned ingredients for cosmetics while the US only has 11. We can be assured by SPELA that their lipsticks are E.U. Compliant while being made in the US.

I was sent the GIRL’S GIRL set that has the pinks of their line: Spin and Flirt. There are 3 more sets, Naughty but Nice (red and nude), Social Butterfly (classic red and plum), and Yogi (neutrals in a dark clay like shade and a pale gray-lavender.). These are all sold as singles too so you can find your own favorites.

What I like best about these SPELA lipsticks is that they are totally weightless on my lips. There is no drying out or cracking on my lips. Even when I’ve rushed and didn’t prep my lips they were always comfortable and felt like I didn’t have anything on my lips.

In the GIRL’S GIRL set are two pinks that are very different from each other. SPIN is a cool bright but dark pink. These liquid lipsticks are one coat wonders though I’ve filled in with a second coat if necessary. SPIN turns slightly fuchsia on me so to wear it I have to use a light coat. I’ll go over it with a clean lipbrush to make sure it’s even. It lasts at least 5 hours if I don’t eat anything that’s oily. It leaves behind a nice stain when it wears away.

Closer to the colors I wear on a daily basis is FLIRT which is a pale rose shade. At first when applied it looked very nude on me but once it started to dry I saw the warm pinkness it holds.

Flirt will last on me a little less time than Spin does. I made chili for dinner recently and it didn’t last through that. When it fades though it is an even fade that doesn’t make my lips look bad. It’s easy to reapply after without a problem.

If you are ready to go beyond the typical brands I believe that SPELA Cosmetics Paint & Play Matte Liquid Lipsticks are a wonderful choice. They are paraben and sulfate-free, vegan and cruelty-free. They are enriched with Vitamin C and E which not only have antioxidant protection but prevent the dry lips you associate with a matte lipsticks. I hope you’ll take a chance so you can find some lipsticks that bring in the play in your day.  —  Marcia
