Enrich Not Exploit: The Body Shop Hemp Soap on a Rope and Hemp Hand Protector

The Body Shop Enrich Not ExploitI absolutely love The Body Shop newest initiative – – Enrich Not Exploit™.  Through this campaign, The Body Shop is doing great things globally by helping people, animals, and the planet. They recently sent me two of their innovative body products to try and I love them as much as I love the message and the commitment behind them.

The Body Shop Hemp Soap on a Rope

The Body Shop Hemp Soap on a Rope

Check out this really cool Hemp Soap on a Rope ($12, but right now there is a buy 3 get 2 free or buy 2 get 1 free with the code MARSTEALS). So it looks like naughty fun, but the hemp is incredibly wonderful for skin. The soap is big but perfectly sized for gripping with your hand and the rope ensures the soap dries without sitting in bacteria or that yuck that collects around bar soaps. Hemp products have a distinctive scent that I think is a little more masculine, but I still love it as a clean, outdoorsy scent. This is one the most moisturizing bar soaps out there and it’s extremely gentle.

The Body Shop Hemp Soap on a Rope

The hemp used is not the kind that alters anything – it’s a non-psychotic variety of hemp.  This hemp is the best crop for regenerating land, it is even better for the environment than trees, and it needs no herbicide or pesticides. Plus, the hemp is insanely moisturizing, with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins A, E, and B-12, folic acid, magnesium, potassium, and iron.

Men love this soap and it makes for an awesome gift. If ‘soap on a rope’ isn’t your thing, you can always cut the rope off and use this as a regular bar soap. It’s so big it lasts about three times as long as a typical bar.

The Hemp Hand Protector ($20) is available now in this limited edition packaging.  When you purchase it, $2.20 will not just be donated – you get to choose the cause, which varies from the planet, the people, the animals, or the ocean. The packaging was designed by the famous street artist EINE and it emphasizes putting the power to change in the palm of your hand.

The Hemp Hand Protector is a heavy-duty moisturizing cream that sinks in quickly and has an immediate softening effect on skin. Don’t just use this on your hands – it’s a fantastic treatment for feet and elbows, too. Ingredients include the cold-pressed oil of 950 hemp seed in every tube! No wonder it’s such a moisturizing powerhouse.

The Hemp Hand Protector has the same beautiful scent as the Soap on a Rope, a fresh, outdoorsy scent. Beautiful skin and a beautiful planet – it doesn’t get much better than that. Take a look at The Body Shop’s hemp products and help Enrich Not Exploit™ our planet.  – Lisa

Mission Grove by Soap & Paper Factory will delight your senses

Cardamom and CoffeeAnything sold at Anthropologie is always on Beauty Info Zone’s radar because they do such a wonderful job of curating. They sell interesting, hip products that are wonderful treats for yourself or fabulous gifts. Their latest find is Mission Grove, a bath and body collection from one of our perennial favorites, the Soap & Paper Factory. This line is made in the US in small batches, and ingredients are top of the line oils and extracts including meadowfoam, borage seed, and jojoba and aromatherapy oils. Everything from Mission Grove has no sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, or phthalates. And of course, it wouldn’t be sold at Anthropologie unless the packaging had a cool, retro feel.

The new Mission Grove Collection comes in four fragrances:

Sakura: This relaxing and restorative fragrance balances apple and citrus with sweet heliotrope for a perfectly calming combination.

Madagascar Vanilla: Deep, sultry notes of bourbon add an intoxicating richness to this soothing vanilla scent.

Fig & Honey: Refresh the body and clear the mind with this heady fragrance that combines earthy figs with sweet honey.

Cardamom & Coffee: Spicy and stimulating, this complex fragrance combines cardamom and coffee with geranium and sandalwood to detoxify the spirit.

The products include Shea Butter Bar Soap ($8), Sea Salt Body Scrub ($12), Travel Sized Body Lotion ($12), Travel Sized Body Wash ($12), Treatment Facial Mask ($16), Scented Drawer Liner Papers ($18), and a Big Rollerball Botanical Oil ($24).

Marcia and Lisa tried several of the products in two different scents, Sakura and Madagascar Vanilla. Is Mission Grove worthy of a permanent place in their boudoirs?  Read on and find out!

madagascar Vanilla

Lisa’s Side:  Madagascar Vanilla  Ok, to be honest they had me at ‘Vanilla’. I love love love vanilla scents, so I was super excited to try these beautifully packaged goodies. The vanilla scent is deep and rich, a little boozy thanks to the bourbon fragrance. It’s a beautiful sniff and just look at how lovely the packaging is:

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla Seasalt Scrub

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla Sea Salt Scrub

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla wax seal on paper and bar soap

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla wax seal on paper and bar soap

Every product comes in this delightful and thoughtful packaging. I adore the wax stamps on the bar soap and the scented paper, it really brings home the care and quality of the products.  Marcia is going to tell you more about the Sea Salt Scrub and the Scented Paper, and I have the 411 on the soaps and lotion.

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla

I almost couldn’t bear to open the bar of soap!  Look that packaging….wow. This is a great gift because it’s just gorgeous. Luckily, the soap is wonderful too, with a thick full lather that doesn’t dry out hands. It’s a great bar for sinks and for tubs.

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla Body Lotion and Body Wash

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla Body Lotion and Body Wash

The travel sized Body Wash and Body Lotion are TSA friendly and perfect for travel bags. The wash gives a creamy foam and the fragrance really sticks around, especially if you layer the Body Lotion over top. They both leave skin smooth, silky, and sweet smelling. I really enjoy this set and am interested in how Marcia likes the Sakura scent. The Fig and Honey scent sounds delicious too…I think I am going to plan a trip to Anthropologie soon to take a sniff!

Sakura

Marcia’s Side:  Sakura

Like Lisa I quickly knew which scent was perfect for me. As the picky one on BIZ I gravitate to fruity scents that aren’t overwhelming. Sakura Blossom is perfect for that. With a mixture of apple and citrus I was thrilled to try this. To be honest I don’t know what heliotrope smells like, all I know is that its flowers are in a variety of violet shades. That doesn’t matter since this combination is refreshing and not overwhelming at all.

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Salt Scrub

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Salt Scrub

The packaging of these Mission Grove products is enough to get me to buy them. A collection of these beautifully packaged goods would make an awesome housewarming or hostess gift. Even better is what’s inside since the fragrance isn’t artificial and the products are excellent.

The Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Salt Scrub surprised me since I normally choose a sugar scrub, but this wasn’t harsh at all and left my skin feeling exfoliated and lightly scented. I was surprised at the touch of oil that’s in it to protect my skin. I never have the flakies on the the days I’m able to shower with this Salt Scrub.

This contains sea salt, jojoba seed oil, coconut oil, and vitamin E which all combine for a hydrating scrub.

Mission Grove Scented Papers

Mission Grove Scented Papers

The Mission Grove Scented Papers in Sakura Blossom totally blew me away. My first reaction to was honestly “why would I use scented papers??”. That was then, this is now: “Wow I love all the things I can do with these scented papers from Mission Grove.”

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Scented Papers

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Scented Papers

My husband likes to go to Las Vegas. While he doesn’t smoke everything is covered in smoke in Vegas. You come home from there and (for non-smokers) you want to undress in the garage and get your clothes into the wash instantly. Now I can tuck one of the half sheets into the mesh section of the suitcase. It helps so much to keep items, the ones that can’t be washed, refreshed. Other uses are to put these in a drawer, your car, boots when you are storing them, and your gym bag. I have one in my laundry room and it’s so amazing to walk in there now – even for someone that isn’t a fragrance person.

Mission Grove Drawer Papers

Mission Grove Drawer Papers

These are beautiful and sturdy. There are 6 sheets that are perforated in the middle so you can break them apart to have 12 sheets. They are made out of a thin cardboard so there’s nothing flimsy about them. They are unlike any drawer papers I’ve ever seen.

Mission Grove Restorative Botanical Perfume Oil (Sakura Blossom)

Mission Grove Restorative Botanical Perfume Oil (Sakura Blossom)

One last product to mention is the Mission Grove Restorative Botanical Perfume Oil. This is available in all 4 of the fragrances and sounds terrific. Here’s what Mission Grove has to say: “Crafted in small batches, Mission Grove Rollerball Perfume Oils stimulate your mind, body and spirit. Great for personal fragrance, and for maximum benefits, use the rollerbals on temples and pressure points such as your crown chakra, bottoms of your feet and solar plexus. Perfect for On-the-go!”

While these are available at Anthropologie, only the soaps are carried online. That means a trip is due to an Anthropologie store so you can see the line in person and do a little indulging for yourself and someone you want to impress.

Raising the bar on soap: Yardley London’s Botanical Bath Bar

Yardley London Botanical Bath Bars

Yardley London Botanical Bath Bars

I love a good bar of soap and the latest soaps sent to us by Yardley London certainly raise the bar regarding drugstore soap. The Yardley London’s Botanical Bath Bar collection has 7 different boutique-inspired bars that lather up beautifully with lots of moisturizing essential oils.

Yardley London Botanical Bath Bars

Yardley London Botanical Bath Bars

Besides the obvious use for cleaning dirty hands and bodies, I have a few other ways I use my bar soaps. If I have a stuck or rusty zipper, I can usually get it unstuck and working well by sliding a bar soap over the zipper. Bar soap works just as well for squeaky hinges and stubborn screws. My husband loves to sew – isn’t that a trip?? – and a trick he uses is wrapping bar soap in some fabric then sticking pins in it for a sweet-smelling pin cushion.  Fabric-wrapped bar soap is also great for dresser drawers to keep clothes smelling sweet.

The Yardley London’s Botanical Bath Bar soaps are great for all of these ideas, plus they look beautiful in a guest bathroom.  I tested five of the seven scents – the only two I didn’t try are the Shea Buttermilk and Jasmine Pearl.

Yardley London Botanical Bath Bar in English Lavender

Yardley London Botanical Bath Bar in English Lavender

The English Lavender soap is perfect for bug bites – rub some over an itchy bite and it gives instant relief. Lavender is also a stress reliever, so it will stop the itch and calm you down at the same time!

Yardley London Botanical Cocoa Butter Bath Bar

Yardley London Botanical Cocoa Butter Bath Bar

The Cocoa Butter soap is incredibly rich with a full lather. It’s so thick it can be used as a shaving cream. It has shea butter, cocoa butter, and vitamin E and is my favorite of the five I tried.

Yardley London Botanical Aloe and Avocado Bath Bar

Yardley London Botanical Aloe and Avocado Bath Bar

The Aloe & Avocado soap is very soothing and has a wonderful herbal/citrus scent. This is great for scenting drawers and is one of the more moisturizing soaps in the collection.

Yardley London Botanical Lemon Verbena Bath Bar

Yardley London Botanical Lemon Verbena Bath Bar

The Lemon Verbena soap also has a wonderfully refreshing scent that is terrific as a drawer scent. It’s a nice combo of citrus oils and shea butter.

Yardley London Botanical Oatmeal and Almond Bath Bar

Yardley London Botanical Oatmeal and Almond Bath Bar

The Oatmeal & Almond soap is very gentle and the oatmeal is a treat for sensitive skin. This is also an exfoliating soap and is great for hands after gardening or yard work.

You can find Yardley London nationwide in most food, drug and mass retail outlets including Walmart, Walgreens, Rite Aid, CVS, Kroger, Publix and Shop-Rite Stores. At $1.59 per bar they are definitely affordable, so be sure to pick some up on your next shopping trip.  – Lisa

Your hand washing regime should include Natural HomeLogics

If you are almost two years old you have routines that are very important in life. You want to do things in a certain order or it will totally mess up the moment. This actually applies to all of us to be truthful. We have routines that we like to follow but for now I’m going to talk about little T who’s 22 months old and has the smile of an angel.

She discovered the bathroom which is a big deal when you are her age. Not only did she discover it but she knows what to do in there. We quickly realized though that the only reason she wanted to go to the bathroom was to flush the toilet and then wash her hands. None of that other stuff – that’s for diapers after all.

hand soaps

hand soaps

Her bathroom routine at my house consists of opening the door, pulling the stool to the sink, and holding her hands over the basin. She’s not much of a talker but she gets her point across. First word she says in there is “froggie” which means “I want to use the froggie soap”. She loves that froggie! She rinses her hands after and says “star” which means she must use the star shaped soap next. (The longer this takes, the happier she is.) But is she done? No she wants “pump” and that’s when the fun begins.natural homelogics on handThe pump creates a foaming soap which makes her giggle her adorable giggle. What can I do except give in to her need for washing her hands?

Natural HomeLogics Foaming Hand Soap

Natural HomeLogics Foaming Hand Soap

This is what I do. I let her use NATURAL HOMELOGIC FOAMING HAND SOAP because I know it’s totally safe for her and the rest of us.

Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap

Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap

I like to use a liquid hand soap and this is one of the best I’ve tried. It’s Triclosan Free and doesn’t rely on harsh chemical ingredients to do the job. Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap is available in two scents, Citrus Grove and Jasmine Mist. It’s a natural formula that’s gluten free, vegan, and made for people with sensitive skin. Both little T and I have sensitive skin, especially her. I wash my hands dozens of times a day so having this gentle soap that cleans even my greasy hands but washes away without any residue is perfect for all of my family.

Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap in Citrus Grove

Natural HomeLogic Foaming Hand Soap in Citrus Grove

Natural HomeLogic was created by Jill Taft so that her family (and all of ours) could use natural, safe and effective products. Besides the Foaming Hand Soap you can find wonderful products for your Tot (TotLogic), pet (BarkLogic), Laundry, dishes, odor eliminator, toilet bowl cleaner and getting rid of lice (LiceLogic) and bedbugs (Natural HomeLogic). She’s thought of everything we need.

I received this from the company but I’ve already ordered another Foaming Hand Soap in Citrus Grove from drugstore.com ($4.95 regular, $4.49 on sale) because I know little T will be using this up and wanting more – just like her grandmother! — Marcia

Orange is the New Black POPI Soap Collection

orangeisthenewblackHave you ‘binge watched’ a TV show yet? There really isn’t anything like it. A typical season is 13 episodes for cable and in the 20’s for network TV. Watching an entire season all in a row is a dream come true for those of us with instant gratification issues…no need to wait an entire week to find out who slept with whom/who died/who realized it was all a dream! Of course, this also means assiduously avoiding any spoilers while the actual season is unfolding. I’ve been doing that for five seasons of Mad Men and let me tell you, it ain’t easy.

oitnb (1)

I discovered Orange is the New Black after the first season was already over, so if I had read any spoilers I didn’t even remember them. I watched the first episode to see if it came close to being as awesome as The Sopranos, something a friend of mine loudly declared to be a total truth. I had very serious doubts, but after that first episode I was HOOKED. And I hadn’t even planned on a binge session!! That meant sleepy mornings from late nights, secret iPad watching, and an entire weekend meant for some serious decluttering spent instead planted in front of the television. My conclusion…I love The Sopranos, but lord help me, Orange is the New Black is even better.  POPI Orange is the New Black Soap Collection

Without giving too much away, in the first season the characters Piper and her best friend Polly were planning an artisan soap company called POPI.  While we see them making soap together, we never see the finished product.  n a stroke of major genius, Lionsgate Entertainment and Chivas Skin Care decided to partner together to create the POPI soap line, which debuted at the same time as Season 3. (By the way, I LOVE that season 3 came out all at once…let the binging begin!!)  I was sent these awesome soaps to review, and am happy to report that they are as fantastic as the show itself.

POPI Orange is the New Black Soap Collection

POPI Orange is the New Black Soap Collection

There are four soaps in this collection from the now not-fictional POPI line. The soaps retail for $12 and are available at popisoap.com. The packaging is true to the plot line, with the wrappers proudly stating the products are “handcrafted by Polly and Piper.” In reality, POPI is a division of the Chivas Skin Care line, which was founded by a mother-daughter team who create beautiful soaps from the goat milk collected at their farm.

POPI Soaps

There are four different soaps available, and I love how the scent choices are a direct result of the dialogue from the show.

Piper:  That smells fantastic…  So, you can put anything in there?

Polly:  Just about.  Peppermint, basil, grapefruit, vanilla.

Pete:  She won’t do chocolate…

Polly:  We’re making soap, not Jelly Bellys…I think you’d want something more along the lines of sage, patchouli…

Piper:  You could sell these, you know.  At farmers markets, little boutique stores…I could be your partner…market it right and package it right, this is money.  I mean, it smells so f*cking good in here.

Yup. These soaps smell pretty f*cking good.

POPI Grapefruit & Basil Soap

POPI Grapefruit & Basil Soap

The Grapefruit & Basil Soap is the most unisex scent of the four. My husband loves this clean citrus paired with earthy basil. It is a super sexy scent that makes it even more difficult to keep my hands to myself when I’m around him. The pink kaolin clay absorbs toxins and soothes dry, irritated skin.

POPI Vanilla & Verbena Soap

POPI Vanilla & Verbena Soap

The Vanilla & Verbena Soap is heavenly. We are talking bourbon vanilla, rich hazelnut, and the swoon-worthy cinnamon/vanilla/clove combo of peru balsam oil. This is an immensely comforting scent that makes me feel all warm and happy inside, and all soft and moisturized outside thanks to the cocoa butter.

POPI Lavender & Sage Soap

POPI Lavender & Sage Soap

The Lavender & Sage Soap is a great scent combo. I find lavender to be almost harsh sometimes, but the sage gives it a soothing earthiness. This beautiful soap is especially good for dry, irritated skin since it includes skin-calming oatmeal.

POPI Cucumber & Mint Soap

POPI Cucumber & Mint Soap

If you love refreshing, invigorating scents, then the Cucumber & Mint Soap is the one for you. This soap is the epitome of cool, with refreshing cucumber, hand chopped peppermint leaves, and peppermint essential oil. All this plus skin healing aloe vera juice make this one cool customer for sure.

POPI’s big, thick soaps make a beautiful, sweet-smelling lather. Goat milk is terrific for soap because it has even more vitamins and fats than cow’s milk. Goat milk is extremely gentle, and is often recommended for those with sensitive or very dry skin. It’s intensely hydrating, plus it has a high content of lactic acid – yes, alpha hydroxy acid! We all know that AHA’s get rid of dead skin cells, so goat milk soap does it all – cleanses, hydrates, and makes skin look even younger. It also is an anti-bacterial so it’s a perfect soap for those prone to acne.

Plus…these soaps just smell so f*cking good.

A+ for the show and A+ for these soaps.  No need to feel dirty for binge watching – just lather up.  – Lisa
