Celebrate National Relaxation Day with Molton Brown, Soap and Paper, and WelleCo!

Celebrate National Relaxation Day!

samples/affiliate links

It’s August 15th, National Relaxation Day! I’m so glad we have a reminder to relax, because it is all too easy to get caught up in your job, your kids, your bills, your house, all those responsibilities…and totally forget to take care of YOU. I always go back to this analogy – if you are traveling on an airplane with a child and the cabin loses pressure so those air masks come down, do you put that mask on the child or yourself first? You put it on yourself first, because if you don’t take care of yourself, you might not be able to take care of anyone else.

Take this day to do something really nice for yourself and RELAX. I have three fabulous suggestions for you that will ease away every bit of stress and tension. Light a candle, make a nice hot cup of tea, and then soak in a fabulous bubble bath – aaaahhhhh………yes!

Molton Brown Single Wick Candle

First up – some beautiful mood lighting. My go-to candles are Molton Brown Single Wick Candles ($49).  The candles come in a handsome jar that looks sophisticated and lush. They are available in amazing scents, including Delicious Rhubarb & Rose, Black Peppercorn, Pink Pepperpod, Coco & Sandalwood, Black Leather Accord & Cade, Dewy Lily of the Valley & Star Anise, Orange & Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Rosa Absolute, Gingerlily, Oudh Accord & Gold and Tobacco Absolute.

Molton Brown candles are not one note affairs. They offer complex scents that are truly delightful. As Molton Brown describes it, the scents start with a bright top note, followed by a complex middle note, then end with a haunting base note. I am currently burning the Rosa Absolute scent, and the complexity of this is fantastic. Top notes are blackcurrent, pink pepper, and raspberry. Heart notes are rose, violet leaf, and geranium. Base notes are patchouli, labdanum and vanilla. It is an incredible, relaxing scent that is perfection for National Relaxation Day.

WelleCo Sleep Welle Fortified Calming Tea

WelleCo Sleep Welle Fortified Calming Tea

Now that you have some mood lighting, next up is a nice, hot cup of tea. I can’t tell you how much I am loving WelleCo Sleep Welle Fortified Calming Tea ($69). The Tea Caddy, which I have pictured, has 50 tea bags and you can buy refills separately. This tea is so fantastic, especially if you have trouble getting to sleep at night. The ingredients include skullcap, valerian root and hops, combined with lemon balm, passionflower and natural lemon and mango flower. The tea is so soothing and mild, slightly fruity and absolutely delightful. It is incredibly relaxing and the perfect tea for melting away the day and creating total relaxation.

Soap & Paper Factory Luxe Bubble Bath

Now that you have an amazing candle and a perfect cup of tea, what else do you need? Why, a fabulous bubble bath of course! Nothing beats relaxing sore muscles and soaking away every bit of tension in a nice, frothy sea of warmth. Soap & Paper Factory Luxe Bubble Bath ($32) is a fantastic choice. It comes in fab scents, including Gardenia, Jasmine, Green Tea, Tuberose, Neroli, Marine, Santal and Vanille, Lavender and Lemon Verbena.

Soap & Paper Factory Luxe Bubble Bath

Mine is Neroli, which is a lovely pure orange blossom scent that is comforting and relaxing. The bubbles are delightfully frothy and really last and skin is left feeling super soft and wonderfully pampered thanks to the key ingredients, borage and meadowfoam. If you love bubble baths, this huge jar of sulfate free bubble bath is exactly what you want sitting next to your tub.

I hope you are able to try out these three products because I really think they are all outstanding.  But whatever you do, take good care of yourself today and show yourself the love you deserve. RELAX. You have earned it.  – Lisa

What’s in my summer tote? Marvis, Soap and Paper, Good Earth Beauty, and Eddie Funkhouser

This summer I have been on more mini-vacations than ever!  So I’ve become really, really good at throwing together a quick overnight bag or a one day travel tote bag, whether I’m off the beach or off for an 8 hour car ride to pick up my daughter from camp. Here are four (or five, depending on how you want to count them!) items that are always in my summer tote.

Marvis Aquatic Mint Toothpaste

I have been a big fan of Marvis Toothpaste for years and years and I love the travel size ($6) tube! Lately I’ve been digging the Aquatic Mint flavor and I also love Jasmine Mint, the tube I recently finished. There are lots of cool flavors available and let’s face it…the packaging is so awesome, anyone pillaging your tote for lip balm is going to be impressed with how hip you are!

Soap and Paper Green Tea Shea Hand Cream

Soap and Paper Jasmine Shea Hand Cream

Soap and Paper Shea Hand Cream

Any bag I pack always has hand cream in it and Soap and Paper has the best hand cream in a perfect travel size. The Petite Shea Hand Cream ($9, 1 oz.) is thick and rich, with an elegant shea-based formula that totally soothes dry skin. It’s velvety goodness. The Green Tea scent is natural and clean and the Jasmine scent is dreamy and intoxicating. I can’t decide which is my favorite so I just pack both.

Good Earth Beauty Citrus White Grapefruit Perfume

Good Earth Beauty Citrus White Grapefruit Perfume

I love to have a refreshing fragrance at my fingertips and Good Earth Beauty has a perfect option – the rollerball Citrus White Grapefruit Perfume ($21). This is a gorgeous scent – light, refreshing, fresh as a summer’s day. The scent is an intoxicating combination of citrusy white grapefruit, tangerine, sweet orange, and mimosa. There isn’t any alcohol or water in this perfume, it’s straight up essential oils, so you only need a tiny amount to smell spectacular all day long. Love this, and you need it in your tote ASAP. Oh, it’s also vegan, organic, cruelty free and gluten-free.

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara

A simple swipe of mascara can take me from looking sickly to looking fantastic in three seconds, particularly with Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara ($13). One tube of mascara gives four different finishes, from natural to major drama.  I might do a quick swipe of #2 for a day look, and then later on add a coat of #4 for big, thick lashes.  What I love is this mascara never smudges or smears, regardless of the temperature or humidity.  It’s a perfect mascara to have in your summer tote!

I have a few more items in my summer tote, but these four (or five, since I can’t choose between the Jasmine and Green Tea Soap and Paper Hand Cream scents!) are constants. What are some of your must haves in your summer tote? – Lisa

Soap and Paper Factory Farmacie Candle Collection

Soap and Paper Factory Farmacie Marigold and Calendula CandleEvery day I take some time to savor small moments…little things that just make me feel good, like a clean kitchen in the evening with low lights and a candle softly flickering. Ahhhh. Lately I have been burning one of the new Soap & Paper Factory candles from their Farmacie Candle Collection ($25).

The Farmacie Candle Collection includes three different scented soy candles that are housed in shabby chic cream-colored apothecary jars. The scents are all botanical, based on herbs and flowers that are used in traditional medicine.Soap and Paper Farmacie Candle
Marigold Calendula: This light and feminine scent blends together airy cyclamen, a delicate flower known for its elegant upswept petals, with peony for a soft, romantic fragrance.

farmacie candleLavender Clary Sage: Calming lavender takes center stage in this bright, refreshing fragrance. The scent blends the citrusy notes of bergamot with crisp clary sage for an earthy scent.

Soap and Paper Factory Farmacie CandleRed Rose Saffron: This sweet fragrance showcases the timeless scent of red rose, accenting it classic floral tones with hints of spicy saffron and creamy tonka bean.

Soap and Paper Factory Farmacie Marigold and Calendula CandleMy candle is in the Marigold Calendula scent. I tend to prefer foody scents in the kitchen, so I am surprised how much I love this. It’s a soft floral with warm, musky notes thanks to the calendula. It makes for a very cozy smelling room and the jar is beautiful. Once the candle is gone I plan to re-purpose the jar as a q-tip and cotton ball holder in my bathroom.

Soap and Paper Factory Farmacie Marigold and Calendula CandleI love Soap and Paper Factory products and the Farmacie Candle Collection is a winner. I plan to buy the Lavender Clary Sage for my kitchen once I am finished with the Marigold Calendula so I can continue to have my clean kitchen evening moments!  – Lisa

Soap and Paper Factory Jasmine Shea Butter Collection

Mission Grove by Soap & Paper Factory will delight your senses

Cardamom and CoffeeAnything sold at Anthropologie is always on Beauty Info Zone’s radar because they do such a wonderful job of curating. They sell interesting, hip products that are wonderful treats for yourself or fabulous gifts. Their latest find is Mission Grove, a bath and body collection from one of our perennial favorites, the Soap & Paper Factory. This line is made in the US in small batches, and ingredients are top of the line oils and extracts including meadowfoam, borage seed, and jojoba and aromatherapy oils. Everything from Mission Grove has no sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, or phthalates. And of course, it wouldn’t be sold at Anthropologie unless the packaging had a cool, retro feel.

The new Mission Grove Collection comes in four fragrances:

Sakura: This relaxing and restorative fragrance balances apple and citrus with sweet heliotrope for a perfectly calming combination.

Madagascar Vanilla: Deep, sultry notes of bourbon add an intoxicating richness to this soothing vanilla scent.

Fig & Honey: Refresh the body and clear the mind with this heady fragrance that combines earthy figs with sweet honey.

Cardamom & Coffee: Spicy and stimulating, this complex fragrance combines cardamom and coffee with geranium and sandalwood to detoxify the spirit.

The products include Shea Butter Bar Soap ($8), Sea Salt Body Scrub ($12), Travel Sized Body Lotion ($12), Travel Sized Body Wash ($12), Treatment Facial Mask ($16), Scented Drawer Liner Papers ($18), and a Big Rollerball Botanical Oil ($24).

Marcia and Lisa tried several of the products in two different scents, Sakura and Madagascar Vanilla. Is Mission Grove worthy of a permanent place in their boudoirs?  Read on and find out!

madagascar Vanilla

Lisa’s Side:  Madagascar Vanilla  Ok, to be honest they had me at ‘Vanilla’. I love love love vanilla scents, so I was super excited to try these beautifully packaged goodies. The vanilla scent is deep and rich, a little boozy thanks to the bourbon fragrance. It’s a beautiful sniff and just look at how lovely the packaging is:

Every product comes in this delightful and thoughtful packaging. I adore the wax stamps on the bar soap and the scented paper, it really brings home the care and quality of the products.  Marcia is going to tell you more about the Sea Salt Scrub and the Scented Paper, and I have the 411 on the soaps and lotion.

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla

I almost couldn’t bear to open the bar of soap!  Look that packaging….wow. This is a great gift because it’s just gorgeous. Luckily, the soap is wonderful too, with a thick full lather that doesn’t dry out hands. It’s a great bar for sinks and for tubs.

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla Body Lotion and Body Wash

Mission Grove Madagascar Vanilla Body Lotion and Body Wash

The travel sized Body Wash and Body Lotion are TSA friendly and perfect for travel bags. The wash gives a creamy foam and the fragrance really sticks around, especially if you layer the Body Lotion over top. They both leave skin smooth, silky, and sweet smelling. I really enjoy this set and am interested in how Marcia likes the Sakura scent. The Fig and Honey scent sounds delicious too…I think I am going to plan a trip to Anthropologie soon to take a sniff!

Sakura

Marcia’s Side:  Sakura

Like Lisa I quickly knew which scent was perfect for me. As the picky one on BIZ I gravitate to fruity scents that aren’t overwhelming. Sakura Blossom is perfect for that. With a mixture of apple and citrus I was thrilled to try this. To be honest I don’t know what heliotrope smells like, all I know is that its flowers are in a variety of violet shades. That doesn’t matter since this combination is refreshing and not overwhelming at all.

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Salt Scrub

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Salt Scrub

The packaging of these Mission Grove products is enough to get me to buy them. A collection of these beautifully packaged goods would make an awesome housewarming or hostess gift. Even better is what’s inside since the fragrance isn’t artificial and the products are excellent.

The Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Salt Scrub surprised me since I normally choose a sugar scrub, but this wasn’t harsh at all and left my skin feeling exfoliated and lightly scented. I was surprised at the touch of oil that’s in it to protect my skin. I never have the flakies on the the days I’m able to shower with this Salt Scrub.

Mission Grove Scented Papers

Mission Grove Scented Papers

The Mission Grove Scented Papers in Sakura Blossom totally blew me away. My first reaction to was honestly “why would I use scented papers??”. That was then, this is now: “Wow I love all the things I can do with these scented papers from Mission Grove.”

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Scented Papers

Mission Grove Sakura Blossom Scented Papers

My husband likes to go to Las Vegas. While he doesn’t smoke everything is covered in smoke in Vegas. You come home from there and (for non-smokers) you want to undress in the garage and get your clothes into the wash instantly. Now I can tuck one of the half sheets into the mesh section of the suitcase. It helps so much to keep items, the ones that can’t be washed, refreshed. Other uses are to put these in a drawer, your car, boots when you are storing them, and your gym bag. I have one in my laundry room and it’s so amazing to walk in there now – even for someone that isn’t a fragrance person.

Mission Grove Drawer Papers

Mission Grove Drawer Papers

These are beautiful and sturdy. There are 6 sheets that are perforated in the middle so you can break them apart to have 12 sheets. They are made out of a thin cardboard so there’s nothing flimsy about them. They are unlike any drawer papers I’ve ever seen.

Mission Grove Restorative Botanical Perfume Oil (Sakura Blossom)

Mission Grove Restorative Botanical Perfume Oil (Sakura Blossom)

One last product to mention is the Mission Grove Restorative Botanical Perfume Oil. This is available in all 4 of the fragrances and sounds terrific. Here’s what Mission Grove has to say: “Crafted in small batches, Mission Grove Rollerball Perfume Oils stimulate your mind, body and spirit. Great for personal fragrance, and for maximum benefits, use the rollerbals on temples and pressure points such as your crown chakra, bottoms of your feet and solar plexus. Perfect for On-the-go!”

While these are available at Anthropologie, only the soaps are carried online. That means a trip is due to an Anthropologie store so you can see the line in person and do a little indulging for yourself and someone you want to impress.

Subtle and sweet – Soap and Paper Factory Bella Perfume

Soap and Paper Factory Bella Solid Perfume

Soap and Paper Factory Bella Solid Perfume

Ok, raise your hands — how many of you have wanted to backhand the person in the elevator who is enveloped in an overpowering cloud of perfume/cologne? I have to admit, this happened to me last weekend and it took total self-control not to assault that woman. I think it helped that I couldn’t breathe so I had no strength, anyway. But it made me think of my beloved Bella Solid Fragrance from The Soap and Paper Factory, my favorite retro line.  The Solid Fragrances ($18) come in 21 different scents and I have several that are always in rotation, including Midnight, Orange Blossom, and Bella.

Just swipe some on a finger and place behind ears, inside wrists, and behind knees to smell fantastic without knocking anyone else over with too strong of a scent. You can even use this as a pomade for your hair, which smooths flyaways and perfumes your locks at the same time.

Soap and Paper Factory Bella Solid Perfume

Bella is a wonderfully fresh scent that is a combination of bergamot, grapefruit, and black pepper. It smells fantastic, yet it’s subtle. It certainly won’t hit everyone over the head when you step into an elevator, but people will walk away from you thinking ‘wow, she smells GOOD’. If you love the Bella scent, it’s also available in bar soap, hand cream, and a pretty tin candle.

Be sure to take a look at some of the many other unique fragrances in the Solid Fragrances, like Skull, Stallion, and Boot. You will love these for travel and for your purse, and the other passengers on your next elevator ride will love you for your beautiful but subtle fragrance.  – Lisa
