Sleek MakeUP makes summer shine even better with Precious Metals Highlighting Palette

Sleek Highlighting Palette in Precious Metals

Sleek Highlighting Palette in Precious Metals

Sleek MakeUP first came to my attention on Makeup Alley. The ladies there were going nuts over the amazing colors of their palettes and the even more amazing prices for this highly pigmented line. I ordered eyeshadows because I had to see what the fuss was about and I didn’t regret that one bit even though it was more expensive to get in the US. Happily now Sleek has made it easy to purchase their products on their website without the high prices and shipping.

Sleek MakeUP sent us a package of some of their newest products which Lisa and I have drooled over. She recently reviewed their VIP Lipsticks which are a semi-matte. I need to remind her that she promised me Private Booth. I took the Precious Metals Highlighting Palette and Eyebrow Stylist and I’m not promising them to her, I want them all to myself.

Sleek MakeUP Precous Metals Highlighting Palette is one of three Highlighting Palettes that they’ve created ($14.99) and it’s all I could ask for, especially with summer finally here. This is a high shine palette that contains 3 cream pans and one powder one. Some are more shimmery than others but all have a radiance that I love.

Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette

The four shades (clockwise from upper left) are Platinum, Royal Gold, Antique Bronze (powder), and Renaissance Gold. These are such versatile highlighters and I’ve found you can wear them anywhere on your face and also on your body. I L.O.V.E. them on my eyes. I’ve been a fan of cream eyeshadows for years and the Precious Metals palette is perfect for me. I start with an eyeshadow primer, apply the cream shades with my finger and usually put a powder eyeshadow in the crease or sometimes Antique Bronze there. It lasts the entire day without creasing or fading.

Precious Metals: Platinum, Royal Gold

Precious Metals: Platinum, Royal Gold

Platinum is meant to lift your browbone with its creamy white with a light pink undertone. Royal Gold is a bright yet light gold that is beautiful on my lid. Sleek suggests using Royal Gold down the bridge of your nose as a highlighter.

Sleek Precious Metals: Renaissance Gold and Antique Bronze

Sleek Precious Metals: Renaissance Gold and Antique Bronze

Renaissance Gold is less sparkly so I’ve used it a lot on my eyes. Sleek’s suggestion of applying Renaissance Gold on your cupid’s bow to make your lips more prominent is a winner! It’s a wonderful shade for that especially since it’s more natural while still being metallic. Antique Bronze works wonderfully as a bronzer and a highlighter. It’s also a great eyeshadow shade.

Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette is not only a bargain to me with its 4 shades that enhance and glow but it’s one that’s going to make my summer more beautiful.

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist

I was happy when I found Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in the package. My eyebrows went from nicely shaped and filled in naturally to scraggly monsters that are thin. I desperately need eyebrow products these days and this Eyebrow Stylist is great for me. This automatic pencil comes in three shades: light, medium, and dark. I was sent Dark which is a great shade for my brunette brows.

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in Dark

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in Dark

One end contains a flat tip so that you can create a light outline and then with the pointed angled edge fill in your brows. It’s easy to use feather strokes to create an illusion of hair. What I like is that I can heavily fill in the sparseness at the front of my brows and then flip it to use lighter strokes for the rest. This really fills in well and it’s not a waxy feeling.

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist

The spoolie isn’t unusual but it does a great job of grooming your brows so it gets an A from me!

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in Dark

Sleek Eyebrow Stylist in Dark

This is not the best shot of my brows because they needed some plucking but you can see how well this fills in and looks natural. You can easily layer this or apply a darker line if you need more coverage. At $8.99 this is one of the better buys I’ve found in eyebrow pencils.

Two great finds from SLEEK MAKEUP. We no longer have to worry about the difficulty and expense of buying Sleek since they’ve made it so easy. —  Marcia

Sleek Makeup VIP Lipsticks

Sleek Makeup Lip VIP Lipsticks

Matte lips….they are all the rage these days, but to be honest, matte is tough for me to wear. I love the look of matte lips, but they can definitely be aging. I am definitely more of a semi-matte gal, so the Sleek Lip VIP Lipsticks from Sleek Makeup are right up my alley.

Sleek Makeup VIP Lipsticks

Sleek Makeup VIP Lipsticks

VIP doesn’t stand for Very Important Person – nope, it stands for VERY IMPORTANT POUT. But of course! The VIP Lipsticks are semi-matte with tons of pigment. They are truly full coverage lippies. They apply evenly and have better than average staying power. These cream lipsticks are good for lips too, with vitamin E, shea butter, and coconut oil to keep lips nice and moist.

I tried all six available shades:  Reserved, Private Booth, Backstage, Night Spot, Guest List, and Flaunt It.

The lighter three of the six shades are Reserved, Private Booth, and Backstage.

Sleek Makeup Private Booth Lip VIP Lipstick

Private Booth is a warm nude shade that leans a little more peach than pink. It’s extremely pretty although it doesn’t work for me — too light for my thin lips, although you can see my daughter can rock this color. Private Booth is more Marcia than Lisa so this shade is going to her!

Sleek Makeup Reserved Lip VIP Lipstick

Sleek Makeup Reserved Lip VIP Lipstick

Reserved is a very pretty peachy pink. More color so I can do this one!  I really like it – it’s springy and feminine, and the semi-matte formula keeps it from looking too flat.

Sleek Makeup Backstage Lip VIP Lipstick

Sleek Makeup Backstage Lip VIP Lipstick

Backstage is a soft coral red. I love this shade, in fact I think it’s my favorite of the six. It’s different from any other color I own and is just beautiful.

Guest List is a medium warm red shade. I wear this one quite often.  his is a great daytime shade – just picture it with a crisp white blouse and blue skinny jeans.

Sleek Makeup Flaunt It Lip VIP Lipstick

Sleek Makeup Flaunt It Lip VIP Lipstick

Flaunt It is a bright tangerine. It’s pretty, although orange is never my favorite lip shade on me. Those with medium to dark skin tones will find this very flattering.

Night Spot is a beautiful berry red  So pretty!! This actually would have been my favorite shade but once my daughter put it on, she refused to give the lipstick back. She wears it all the time and it is gorgeous.

Get divine with Sleek’s I-Divine Storm eyeshadow palette

Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Storm

Sleek I-Divine Eyeshadow Palette in Storm

I’m hoping to catch up on my eyeshadow swatching since I have so many lovelies to share with you. One of my favorites is SLEEK I-DIVINE EYESHADOW PALETTE in STORM which is one of 15 palettes ($11.99) available. (sent for review) This is a magnificent palette and I’m anxious to try out more of their eyeshadows.

SLEEK I-DIVINE EYESHADOW PALETTE in STORM

SLEEK I-DIVINE EYESHADOW PALETTE in STORM

By the time I got around to photographing the palette I’d already used it which is a no-no in the blogging world. But used or pristine, it’s still fabulous. STORM is a good name for the palette because it’s more like a stormy night than a sunny day. The colors are really striking.

STORM from Sleek

STORM from Sleek

The top row has the lightest shades and begins the darker ones. I love the names of the individual shadows.

SAND STORM is light rose gold metallic

SNOW STORM looks more gold in the palette but is actually a creamy white metallic

CALM BEFORE THE STORM is a caramel matte

THUNDER STORM is a golden metallic with a touch of touch of green

PERFECT STORM is a rose gold metallic that can look more pink

FIRESTORM is brown metallic with undertones of cranberry

SLEEK I-DIVINE STORM TOP ROW

SLEEK I-DIVINE STORM TOP ROW

On the bottom is where you see the shades that created the “storm”. My swatch shot shows Dust Storm at the top

DUST STORM is bronze metallic

GATHERING STORM is a beautiful denim metallic

STORM CLOUD is a charcoal metallic with tones of teal to brighten it up

ELECTRIC STORM is a navy metallic that has a touch of royal to it, gorgeous shade

EYE OF THE STORM is a chocolate matte shade

BLACKOUT is a black matte

SLEEK I-DIVINE STORM, bottom row swatches in the opposite order

There is a little fallout when applying these but it’s worth it to have such beautiful shades. Obviously I’m a fan of metallic shadows and those are getting a lot of use. The texture on all but Blackout is buttery soft. You almost want to pet them! Blackout is probably meant to be an eyeliner though it does work as a shadow, to get the intensity of my swatch picture you’d have to apply it with some pressure.

I am so excited about this palette and I use it all the time. I haven’t put it away yet since I’m always reaching for it. Plus when I realized that these shadows turn out to be $1 apiece it makes me want more SLEEK in my life.

If you haven’t indulged in SLEEK yet then save up for a haul from them now or after the holidays. You don’t want to miss out on this popular UK brand that is now available for the US. — Marcia

Lust and glitter with Sleek MakeUP palettes

Sleek MakeUPIf you haven’t tried the fabulously affordable UK line Sleek MakeUP yet, this is a great time to do so! They are having a sale on a pretty cool collection called the 24K GOLD GIFT SET (LIMITED EDITION). It normally sells for $41.49 and right now it’s on sale for $30.00.  The collection includes:

  • i-Lust Eyeshadow Palette in The Gold Standard
  • Glitter Me Lip Gloss in Private Jet
  • Midas Touch Highlighting Palette
  • Makeup Bag

Sleek MakeUP recently sent us some products to test and while I haven’t tried everything in the 24K Gold Gift Set I have tried most of it.

THE GOLD STANDARD I-LUST EYESHADOW PALETTE (LIMITED EDITION) sells for $11.49 and includes four shimmer powder eyeshadows and two cream eyeshadows in golden shades. The six shades are housed in a chic palette with a mirror and a dual ended brush, with one side a standard eyshadow brush and other side is a sponge tip. The palette is sturdy and actually closes so well it’s tough to open, especially if you have long nails. The brush is just so-so…you will want to use your own brushes.

Sleek The Gold Standard I-Lust Eyeshadow Palette

Sleek The Gold Standard I-Lust Eyeshadow Palette Laurent and Coco

Laurent is a shimmery plummy brown that is INCREDIBLY pigmented.  I put this on and was like WHOA!  Use a little and build your way up. Coco is a coppery gold with shimmer that is very pretty as a lid shade.

Sleek The Gold Standard I-Lust Eyeshadow Palette

Sleek The Gold Standard I-Lust Eyeshadow Palette Margiela and Vera

Margiela is one of the two cream eyeshadows, a taupe with golden shimmer.  I don’t do well with cream eyeshadow since I have oily lids, but this one has good pigmentation and wears better than most cream eyeshadows do for me. Vera is a light shimmery gold that is a few shades lighter than Coco with more of a yellow tone.

Sleek The Gold Standard I-Lust Eyeshadow Palette

Sleek The Gold Standard I-Lust Eyeshadow Palette in Vivienne and Louis

I’m sorry, somehow I swatched these two in opposite order – in the palette it goes Louis then Vivienne, but in my swatch picture Vivienne is on the left and Louis is on the right. Vivienne is a pretty shimmery champagne that is great as a wash, or for the lid or brow. Louis is the second cream eyeshadow, and it looks like a shimmery gold in the pan but goes on rather sheer with sparkles. I am not a fan of this one. There is no real color and the sparkles tend to migrate.

Five out of the six eyeshadows are winners for me, so I do recommend this palette, especially for the price. Most of the shades are highly pigmented and I love the color combination.

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

The 24K Gold Gift Set features the Midas Highlighting Palette, which I haven’t tried. However, I have tested the SOLSTICE HIGHLIGHTING PALETTE ($14.99) which is similar, just different shades. This highlighting palette features two baked powders, one cream highlighter, and one shimmer powder. The finishes are all metallic and meant to give skin a sheen.

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette Ecliptic, Subsolar, Hemisphere, Equinox

I feel like the Solstice Highlighting Palette is a bit ‘young’ for me. At my age, too much sheen or shimmer isn’t flattering. That said, those of you in your 20’s and 30’s will enjoy this palette. The powders are all highly pigmented and are in flattering shades. They can all be used as highlighters as well as eyeshadows, not to mention for some shimmer on arms and décolletage. I really like the one cream highlighter, Subsolar. It sheers out beautifully and is a great highlighter, especially high on the cheekbone.

Sleek Glitter Me Gloss in Uptown Girl

Sleek Glitter Me Gloss in Uptown Girl

Sleek Glitter Me Gloss in Uptown Girl

Sleek Glitter Me Gloss in Uptown Girl

The 24K Gold Gift Set includes a Glitter Me Lip Gloss ($7.49) in Private Jet – I haven’t tried that shade, but I have tried the GLITTER ME LIP GLOSS IN UPTOWN GIRL (LIMITED EDITION).

This is a sheer lip gloss with a raspberry tint and lots of shimmer. I like it – the shimmer isn’t grainy and the gloss has a nice slip. I tend to wear this over lipstick since it doesn’t provide much color on its own, but it definitely makes a party out of a subdued or matte lipstick.

I think the quality of Sleek MakeUP is terrific for the price point. Check it out and take a look at the 24K Gold Gift Set while it’s still available.  – Lisa

Top 10 Under $10

Top Ten Tuesday is always fun but today is especially so. I got to pick out 10 items that cost $10 or less to show you. With the winter holidays peeking around the corner you need to find some stocking stuffers or just something to perk up your own life. Here are some of my favorite cosmetic items. I’d love to learn what yours are too. — Marcia

LIPS

1.  PIXI BEAUTY SHEA BUTTER LIP BALMS ($8) come in 5 colors plus clear and they are totally awesome. They are a combination of a nurturing lip balm and a lipstick except they aren’t sticky at all. My blog partner Lisa raves about these constantly so I had to see what the fuss was about and now I agree with her. Pick from Ripe Raspberry, Coral Crush, Pixi Pink, Natural Rose, Honey Nectar or clear. I can’t wait to go back to Target to pick up Pixi Pink.

2.  COLOURPOP is the hot brand of 2015. Their products are all so reasonably priced ($5-$8). They are known for their Ultra Matte lipglosses but those don’t do it for me. I do like their Lippie Stix though and I have several including the sheer Juice Bar in the collage. While not my favorite I appreciate all the choices and that they have matching Lippie Pencils for most of the Lippie Stix ($5 for the Lippie Stix, $5 for the Lippie Pencils). Totally fun pick me up and if you use the code “thanksbabe” you’ll get $5 off your order.

.

BLUSH

3.  Speaking of ColourPop, they have 24 shades of blush in three different finishes (matte, satin, and pearlized). The texture of ColourPop blush and eyeshadows is not what you expect. They have a spongy feel to them and are a bit tricky the first time you apply them, but after you get the hang of them you’ll come back for more.

4.  MILANI ROSE POWDER BLUSHES aren’t in my collection but they need to be. There are nothing but raves for these. At $7.99 if you see them, grab them.

.

EYES

5.  HARD CANDY SASSY EYES SULTRY PALETTES ($8) are in sturdy metal palettes with shadows that belie their price. There are 3 variations of these and if they are anything like the Smokey Eye Palettes that I have from the spring, then they are top rate. I still use my Smokey Eye Palettes all the time.

6.  SLEEK I-QUAD EYESHADOW & EYELINER PALETTES  ($8.99) are on my wishlist. There are 3 different palettes with three eyeshadows and a gel eyeliner. I’d have chosen one of the I-Divine eyeshadow palettes if it were under $10 but those are just above the limit at $11.99. This is a brand that I’m loving the more I use it.

.

NAIL POLISH

7.  SINFUL COLORS ($1.99) amazes me. I’ve had the opportunity to review quite a few of their polishes and they last a full week on me. I know I mention them often but there’s a good reason for that.

8.  PIXI BEAUTY NAIL POLISH ($8) is another polish brand you’ll hear about from me over and over. I love how easy these are to find at Target, I love the colors, I love the wear. I just bought Olive Gold at Target after craving that shade for so long. With 40 shades you’ll easily find some you’ll crave too.

.

HIGHLIGHTER

9.  e.l.f. ILLUMINATING PALETTE ($6) will satisfy your craving for highlighting aka strobing. 4 shades, $6. Can’t be beat. I just wish I could find the newer e.l.f. in stores.

.

CLEANSING

10.  SIMPLE SKINCARE MICELLAR MAKEUP CLEANSING WIPES (approx $6) don’t totally fit this week’s theme for me but I just bought them and I’m impressed with a capital I. These wipes are different than the other brands I’ve tried. They are refreshing and remove cosmetics really well. They are gentle enough for my eyes which surprises me. Normally I use a separate eye makeup remover but so far I’ve even been able to get away without that. These may end up on my Top 10 list of the year.

Think Pink with Sleek Barekissed Illuminator

Think pink

Think pink

As a pink lover I adore finding new pink items to share for my “Think Pink” posts. Sleek MakeUP added to my pink collection with their Barekissed Illuminator in Casablanca. As you know everything lately has taken a turn to illumination and highlighting so the timing of this beauty is perfect.

Sleek Barekissed Illuminator

Sleek Barekissed Illuminator

Barekissed Illuminators ($13.49) come in a glass pump that is enough to last me for ages (30 mL, 1.014 fl oz.) and are available in 4 shades. With Casablanca it’s like they came into my house to check out my favorite colors since this radiant pink is perfect. Other shades are Cuba which appears to be the peach version of mine, Monaco a luminous cream, and Pompeii a bronze.

The Barekissed Illuminators are meant to enhance your complexion. They contain light reflecting pigments that give a lustrous shine without a drop of glitter or shimmer. I’ve used it in four ways so far.

1. Directly on my cheeks as a blush under my blush. I’ll dab this on with my fingers where I want my blush to be. Then once it’s dried down I’ll put a powder or cream blush over it. I love it this way when I’m thinking pink since it makes any blush last and last.

2. I’ll mix some in with my foundation for an all over brightening. This works especially well for me with some of my warmer shades. I don’t notice the pink but I do notice how much more alive my skin looks.

3.  Put this wherever you’d apply a highlighter to brighten your skin. It’s great on top of my cheekbones, a little down the bridge of my nose, and just above my eyebrows. I always make sure to blend well so it’s not obvious, just a hint of color for that great luminosity.

4.  After applying an eyeshadow primer, I’ll dab a drop of Sleek Barekissed Illuminator in Casablanca on top. I usually keep it on my browbone where it adds a whisper of pink in a secret way. No one would guess that’s what makes my eyes glisten just a bit.

Sleek Barekissed Illuminator in Casablanca

Sleek Barekissed Illuminator in Casablanca

These Illuminators are a great alternative to powder highlighters because they give you the same effect without any powder or powdery residue. As I mentioned they aren’t glittery or shimmery so even those of us with large pores can use these with ease. It’s not portable like a powder highlighter would be but I’m okay with that because I rarely touch up anything other than my lips when I’m out.

Now that Sleek sells to us in the U.S. there’s just so much to love. Shipping is also free with a $35 order and it’s so easy to find $35 worth of amazing products to buy from them. You also get a 10% off code when you sign up for their emails making it that much more affordable.

Sleek MakeUP is making some of my dreams come true with their fabulous and affordable products. What shade would you choose for your Barekissed Illuminator? — Marcia

Top 10 Fall lips

Favorite Fall lips

Favorite Fall lips

The calendar tells us that it’s Fall. It’s a mixed blessing in many ways. Pumpkin Spice lovers will be thrilled with the amount of products that are now available. Cider Mills are open with that delicious fresh cider and tantalizing doughnuts. The leaves are starting to change and the colors will be spectacular. We’ll try to ignore how dark it is by 7:30 p.m. and that we need shorts in the day and a parka at night. But what we won’t ignore is the chance to change your lipstick wardrobe. Top Ten Tuesday is here to give you some suggestions of some lips to wear.

My personal favorites are the new PUR MINERALS LIP LURE LIQUID LIPSTICKS *. I have three of the five available and they are perfect for this time of year. These are very pigmented and the colors last for a long time. They are bucking the trend of matte (which is fine for me), instead saturating your lips with color while leaving them feel moisturized. Another brand of lipstick that is new in my life is SLEEK MAKEUP, TRUE COLOR LIPSTICK *. These lipsticks come in either Sheen or Matte finishes for just $7.49. They are extremely creamy and feel great on my lips. Happily they are fragrance free. When you look these up on Sleek’s website they describe the lipsticks as well as give suggestions for which eyeshadow palette and blush would look great with them. More to come on Sleek MakeUP soon!

I like Nude lipsticks and find that there can be a difference between a summer nude and a fall nude. We all have different interpretations of nude and mine is a light shade but with fall I’ll go deeper. Three of my favorite nudes are Sleek MakeUP Succumb, Tom Ford Sable Smoke, and Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink.

Sleek Succumb is a brownish nude with pink undertones that looks much more pink on me than my swatch. Tom Ford Sable Smoke is a creamy peachy brown that’s not dark and can look different depending on which lipliner I use. Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink is the pinkest of the bunch but it’s not pink.

Dark lips aren’t easy for me to comfortably wear but I do love having some for those special times when I need to look more grown up. You never know when a plum, red, or brown red lipstick is going to up your game. Here are the ones in my collection:

VOTRE VU TATIANA * is a tomato red that I apply with a lip brush to get a softer look. SLEEK CHERRY is a deep vampy red. MELANIE MILLS GLEAM * in Unstoppable is a bright cherry red (photo doesn’t share the true red of this beauty. RIMMEL PROVOCALIPS * in PLAY WITH FIRE is a two sided liquid lipstick that’s a long wearing formula. It’s a beautiful true dark red with a clear sparkly gloss on the opposite end. PIXI BEAUTY MATTELUSTRE PLUM BERRY * is a hybrid of matte and lustre. This is a plummy red that doesn’t show lip lines like a true matte does.
