Get great skin with Skindinavia Post-Makeup Recovery Spray

Skindinavia Post Makeup Recovery Spray 3When I first opened the package from Skindinavia, I was all excited — I thought it was the Skindinavia Makeup Primer Spray, one of my favorite products of all time. Then I realized this was something different. The Skindinavia Post-Makeup Recovery Spray (4 oz. $26; 8 oz. $36) is a spray, but one used AFTER removing makeup. Thank goodness I looked a little more closely at the bottle because this is an all together completely different product!

The premise behind the Skindinavia Post-Makeup Recovery Spray is that makeup can clog pores and deplete skin of minerals. Of course, we typically wash off our makeup at night – if we are being responsible – but cleansing can dry out skin and actually deplete it of the good stuff that keeps skin looking plumped and fresh.Skindinavia Post Makeup Recovery Spray 2This is where the Skindinavia Post-Makeup Recovery Spray comes in. An  after cleansing spray rebalances skin’s natural pH levels. The ingredients also include zinc, which keep skin clear of blemishes. Organic willow bark is a skin soother that prevents bacteria from entering pores, which ultimately means smooth, blemish-free skin.

Skindinavia Post Makeup Recovery SpraySince I have been using this, I haven’t experienced any break outs. I don’t find it to be much help as a makeup refresher during the day, but it is a very nice boost when I’m not wearing any cosmetics. Better skin means better makeup, so I think this is a very interesting product that could be a welcome addition to your skin care arsenal.  – Lisa

Favorite setting products – powders and sprays

Do you have products that help you finish your makeup each day? That’s what Top Ten Tuesday is about this week. There are some great products available for this job and I’ve picked the favorites that I’ve used. When I’m done I hope you’ll share some of yours with me.

I have to start with IT COSMETICS since I talk about the brand all the time. The product that I’ve used up twice is IT COSMETICS BYE BYE PORES aka Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder. Once I discovered this powder I stopped using the drawer full I had from Laura Mercier, Kevyn Aucoin, and more. I still use those occasionally but they aren’t in my top ten! Silky soft and it does blur my pores just like it says it will.

Once they came out with Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Anti-Aging Finishing Powder I had to buy that too.  This pressed powder is great for travel and on the go.

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish Powder is fabulous. I love this powder and am currently on my second one. Powder takes forever and a day for me to finish so the fact that I’ve gone through one and a half jars of this speaks for itself. Diamond Finish sets my makeup, blurs my pores, and gives me a beautiful finish that isn’t matte.

One more loose powder in this group: Pixi Beauty Quik Fix Powder in Translucid wins for the best packaging as well as being a great powder. This is very lightweight and invisible on my skin. It contains great ingredients like aloe vera and cucumber extract to smooth along with grape extract which acts as an antioxidant.

Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is really a cheat since it’s not a powder or a spray but it’s a staple in my cosmetic wardrobe. It has a very unusual texture and gives a matte finish. It’s wonderful for blurring fine lines and pores. There’s no dryness like powder can give.

Now on to the sprays. Skindinavia has two sprays that I have to recommend: Makeup Primer Spray and the Makeup Finishing Spray are both wonderful. Other brands like Urban Decay sell these but they are made by Skindinavia. The Primer Spray is just like it sounds. Spray this one after your skincare is on and it helps deliver a smoother finish for your foundation. The Finishing Spray is to be applied after all your makeup is on and it helps keep your makeup in place for the day. It’s especially great for being outdoors. They even make this in Oil Control and a Bridal version.

A much less expensive version is  Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Makeup Setting Spray at Walmart. This is only $6.30 compared to the $30ish prices of Skindinavia. It’s not bride proof but it’s a good way to see if a spray is for you.

When I was in the midst of hot flashes I relied on Youngblood Minerals in the Mist. I was at IMATS and I looked like someone had dropped a bucket of water on me. I was shopping at Youngblood and they recommended it in Refresh for me and it saved the trip. I carried it around with me to refresh my skin. I’ve since used it up but if I ever go through that misery again, I’d repurchase.

Straight to the top of my favorites list: Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray

Hello, my name is Lisa and I am addicted to primers.  I am not ashamed to admit this addiction. Without primer…well, actually, without a GOOD primer…my makeup lasts for maybe three hours tops.  I just have that kind of skin.  With a good facial primer my foundation and blush can survive for 8 hours of fade-free wear.

Marcia teases me all the time for having a bazillion primers.  Even with the obscene amount of primers I have on hand, I am always on the lookout for something even better.  But I have to give the credit for my recent discovery to my partner.  She insisted that I be the one to test Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray (4 oz. bottle $35) because it was different from the other bazillion primers I have, and she heard this one was pretty fantastic.

Another confession…I wasn’t particularly interested in trying this primer.  I put it off for a long time.  I am not sure why…I guess I just didn’t think that a wet, spray on primer was going to work, especially since my favorite primers tend to be silicone-based.  Luckily, sometimes my partner knows me even better than I know myself.

Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray is a light liquid that feels like a very fine mist.  It needs to be shaken well before spraying, and once on it dries in seconds.  Unlike silicone primers, this doesn’t make my skin ultra crazy smooth.  However,  it does make it smoother, which helps my makeup apply evenly.  What is the most impressive, though, is how it keeps my makeup from fading all day long.  I don’t mean 8 hours…I mean 12, even 15 hours.  I have never experienced anything like it!!

The Makeup Primer Spray is absolutely one of the best primers I have ever used.  I can’t even fully articulate how impressed I am with it.  While I love my other bazillion primers, I do believe this is my most favorite of them all.

Whether you never use a makeup primer yet or are a primer addict like me, you need this primer.  It just plain rocks.  – Lisa
