Biggest personal influences in 2012

soft waves

Soft waves?  No problem!

Verge One – I would say that two lines dramatically changed my daily appearance in 2012.  The first is Verge One.  Their ‘texture wands’ have completely changed the way I wear my hair.  Now pretty much every day I am curly or wavy, and I love it.  The texture wands are truly fabulous finds for which I am extremely grateful!

More lashes = love!

More lashes = love!

Novalash – the second line that dramatically changed my daily appearance in 2012 is Novalash.  I had what I thought were nicely dramatic eyelashes thanks to Latisse…and then I found Novalash.  WOW.  My lashes are huge and beautiful and easy to care for every single day.  This is a ‘get down on my knees and say THANK YOU‘ find!!

Snake serum and killing wrinkles: my adventure with Skin Chemists Wrinkle Killer

When I told Marcia about this new product I was going to be testing, her response was, “Have fun killing your wrinkles.”

Well guess what?  It was pretty fun!  Just the thought of killing wrinkles with snake serum is like the ultimate high for a skin care junkie like me.

Before I get into the gory snake venom details, let me tell about Skin Chemists, a UK company with world-wide delivery that does NOT test on animals (not even snakes).  Richard Walker, the Managing Director of Skin Chemists, was inspired by his father who created one of the very first ‘breakthrough’ skin care creams.  His Pharmacist father helped people find both their inner and outer beauty, which has become the guiding philosophy of Skin Chemists.  Every product they create is unique, cutting-edge, and tested via extensive clinical trials.   They are focused on the ethical creation of products that truly work and give real results.  As Richard Walker says, “When we say we can help…we can!”

Skin Chemists Wrinkle Killer

I tested their Wrinkle Killer Professional Formula 4% ($207.17), which is a multi-peptide serum.  The 4% version is the salon strength version of the original Daily Use Formula.   The whole purpose of this serum is to get rid of your wrinkles – yup, to KILL them.  And the main ingredient is Syn-ake, which is a combination of oxygen and ingredients that replicates the venom from a Temple Viper snake.  This isn’t REAL snake venom – it’s a synthetic replication, no snakes were harmed in the production of this wrinkle cream!

Ok, who wouldn’t want to test a product with a name like Wrinkle Killer?  And then add in (synthetic) snake venom…woohoo!!  The main purpose of real snake venom is to immobilize the snake’s prey so it can swallow it.  So it makes sense that the purpose of Syn-ake is to immobilize your wrinkles and smooth your complexion through neuro-peptides.

This particular version has 4% of the active ingredient, Syn-ake.  An impressive 92% of Skin Chemist customers who have tried Wrinkle Killer gave it the highest rating of 5 stars.  Wrinkle Killer has been a huge success in Europe, over 40,000 units were sold in the first 6 months it was on the market.

I absolutely love the honesty of this company – they actually say “For the best results we recommend that you use Wrinkle Killer Snake Serum for 28 days.  The effects will be temporary and continued use is required.”  That’s true of most skin care products, but it’s pretty rare that you find a company who actually tells you in print!  Because I am still testing the PaloVia Laser on the wrinkles around my eyes, I used this twice a day on my upper lip lines for over a month.

Quick packaging note – love the applicator.  It’s sanitary and it keeps the integrity of the serum by not exposing the product to air.

The serum is thick with a silky, almost silicone-like feel to it.  It smooths on easily and doesn’t interfere with other moisturizers or makeup.

My one complaint about this serum is the fragrance.  It’s not horrible, and it doesn’t last, but it definitely smells perfumey when first applied.  I would prefer no fragrance, although the scent isn’t a deal killer for me.

After a month, I definitely did see an improvement in the fine lines around my upper lip.  And while it is expensive, you need so little of the product that one bottle will last a very long time.  After thirty days of twice daily use, my bottle still looks almost brand new.  I am betting it will last at least a year.

I love my Wrinkle Killer just for the fun factor of a fantastic name and the connection to snake serum.  I love it even more because it does work, it will kill your wrinkles although it’s not an instant death – you make them suffer slowly.  If Skin Chemists took out the fragrance, I would say that this is a pretty perfect serum.  If fragrance isn’t an issue for you, then it is a very entertaining and effective wrinkle treatment option.  – Lisa
