Let your skin breathe with Proderma Breathable Foundation

Proderma Anti-Aging Breathable Foundation

Proderma Anti-Aging Breathable Foundation

Have you heard about Proderma Breathable Foundation? It’s been on our radar for a few years because we’d heard about how great it is when used following any cosmetic or dermatological procedures. When we were given the opportunity for PR to send us the foundation for a Side by Side review we happily accepted.

Proderma has two types of foundation plus a brand new serum. Besides the Breathable Anti-Aging Foundation ($49) they also have one specifically for blemished skin. The foundation comes in 6 color choices: Almond, Creme, Ivory, Beige, Honey, and Taupe. There’s a chart to help you find the right shade on the Proderma website and they even have a sample kit with 2 shades to try this out.

Proderma Breathable Foundation helps with anti-aging benefits. They use a proprietary oxygenation peptide complex plus potent vitamins and antioxidants to fight off free radicals. The formulas incorporate ingredients that help increase blood circulation as well as others that help increase elastin and collagen production. We all want a more youthful appearance and that’s Proderma’s goal.

The foundation can be used immediately after procedures or later to cover bruising, scars and redness. It soothes inflammation and swelling plus it helps with the healing process.

Let’s see what Marcia and Lisa’s experiences were like with PRODERMA BREATHABLE FOUNDATION.

MARCIA’S SIDE – Proderma Breathable Foundation in Creme

The main reason that I was eager to try this foundation, besides being crazy about foundation, is that I had heard what a great brand it was for sensitive skin. While I rarely see a dermatologist and haven’t had a cosmetic procedure done, I knew that it was receiving raves.

Proderma Breathable Foundation in Cream

Proderma Breathable Foundation in Cream

The only regret I had with this foundation is that I chose the wrong color. I didn’t notice the chart to help pick the right shade or I’d have known to choose Ivory over Creme. It’s not that Creme doesn’t work for me, it does, but I think it’s a little warm for me.

Proderma Breathable Foundation in Cream

That picture isn’t totally representative of the foundation because it blends nicely once on my face. The amount I put on my hand for a swatch was double what I need on my face.

I’ve applied the foundation in a few ways: Beauty Blender sponge, foundation brush and my fingers. I prefer using my fingers since that seems to give me a more flawless finish. This is a liquid that is slightly on the thicker side so a little goes a long way. It gives me a very natural look and is one of the foundations I reach for regularly. I especially love that I have it in case of emergency flare ups. It’s a gentle formula that feels and looks good.

LISA’S SIDE: Proderma Breathable Foundation in Beige

Like Marcia, I have been interested in the Proderma line for a while.  I figure that any foundation formulated to work for people who have had a cosmetic procedure should definitely work on my skin that just NEEDS a cosmetic procedure!  My skin is somewhere between light and medium and the Beige shade works well for me.

Proderma Breathable Foundation in Beige

Proderma Breathable Foundation in Beige

My skin tone is decidedly neutral, so I can wear both warm and cool shades.  Beige is definitely on the warmer side.  I really like the coverage it gives, which is not full coverage but enough for a natural look and a more even skin tone. The finish is slightly dewy but not greasy – I guess I would say it’s matte with a bit of luminosity.

Proderma Breathable Foundation in Beige

Proderma Breathable Foundation in Beige

The texture of the liquid foundation is a little thick, so I find the best method of application is just using my hands.  I put one pump into my palms, rub them together to get a little warmth going, then pat over my face.  If I go a little too thick in an area I just blend it out with my Beauty Blender.  I am very happy to have this beautiful foundation in my rotation.

Proderma Breathable Foundation gets a thumbs up from both of us.  This is a winner in the liquid foundation category and is a terrific option for those with sensitive skin or with skin issues like rosacea, psoriasis, or eczema. If you are planning any sort of cosmetic or dermatological procedure, definitely check this out!

Introducing Orico Streetwise Cleansers

Orico is a new brand for us at Beauty Info Zone. It’s a British brand that has become award winning for designing skincare that helps with the demands of the environment on our skin. Without realizing it everything we encounter (pollution, air-conditioning, heat and stress) all dry out our skin removing the freshness from it.

Orico is all of these!

Orico is all of these!

We were sent two different cleansers to try out, both from their Streetwise collection. Lisa will be reviewing Gentle Antioxidant Organic Face Wash while Marcia will tell you about Hydrating Make-Up Remover Face and Eyes. These cleansers are pure and organic. As Orico says “Each formula is a unique and synergistic blend of natural active ingredients and essential oils to protect and rejuvenate the complexion and give a lift to the senses.”  When we read about Orico it felt like a brand that our readers would be interested in.

MARCIA’S SIDE:  Hydrating Make-Up Remover Face and Eyes

Orico Streetwise Hydrating Make-Up Remover

Orico Streetwise Hydrating Make-Up Remover

What appealed to me about ORICO Streetwise’s Make-Up Remover ($27)is that it could be used for eyes as well as the face. I have a lot of cleansers that aren’t comfortable for me to use to remove eye makeup so I wanted to try something to use that would take off everything with one product.

This Make-Up Remover comes close although it’s not perfect. A lot depends on the mascara that I’m wearing. If I’m wearing a lot of mascara or a heavy one then I need to remove that separately. If I’m wearing just a daily coat then I reach for Orico Streetwise.

It was created to work for all skintypes even dry and sensitive skin so I knew that was a plus. Plus I love the ingredient list and that the company is cruelty-free and Natural and Organic Cosmetic certified by Ecocert Greenlife according to Ecocert standards.

Orico Natural Ingredients

Orico Natural Ingredients

I personally love the fragrance of this. I’ve become addicted to citrus aromas lately in my products so it’s a pleasure to find a makeup remover that has such a pleasant smell as well as one that works well. It removes my makeup easily without leaving any dry areas behind. My eyes aren’t the least bit irritated by this, it never stings. It removes all but the toughest mascara or eyeliner with ease. This is hydrating as its name implies and it’s packed with powerful antioxidants and essential oils to soothe and clear skin of impurities. The fragrance I enjoy so much is an aromatherapy blend of tangerine and orange essential oils added to de-congest and increase circulation.

Orico ingredients

Orico ingredients

LISA’S SIDE – Gentle Antioxidant Organic Face Wash

I usually love gel facial cleansers because they work really well with my Foreo Luna Sonic Cleansing Brush.  Orico’s Gentle Antioxidant Organic Face Wash is a perfect partner for sonic cleansers, and it’s excellent on its own.

Orico Streetwise Face WashI find that while it’s quite gentle, it also removes makeup like a champ.  It has lots of antioxidants that seem to just melt away dirt and calm skin at the same time.  This cleanser also has Gingko Biloba, which is an anti-bacterial that keeps blemishes at bay.  The fragrance is a light, clean citrus that is very pleasant.

For a real treat, Orico recommends double cleansing.  First, wash with the Streetwise Hydrating Make-up Remover to dissolve face makeup, then cleanse with the Streetwise Gentle Antioxidant Face Wash for a deeper cleanse and to guard against breakouts.  Both of these products make for a great introduction to this British brand!

Get In the Buff with Beauty Addicts

Beauty Addicts lippies are getting nude

Beauty Addicts lippies are getting nude

For summer beauty ADDICTS has combined products from their line to create IN THE BUFF, a collection of skin toned items that are great for a no-makeup makeup look. The tones are based on peach, brown and tan that look more like what we look like before we put on makeup so they enhance our beauty without making us look all dolled up. We were happy to receive these lipsticks, glosses and their tinted moisturizer to share with you.

Beauty Addicts lip addiction

Lisa’s Side:  Hello, my name is Lisa and I have a lippie addiction. I have so many lipsticks and lip glosses that I refuse to reveal the exact number – a number so high it is beyond embarrassing. Beauty Addicts only feeds my addiction with their Beautifull Lips Lipstick ($18) and Lip Addiction Lip Gloss ($17).

Left to right:

Left to right:  In the Buff, Toast, Shy

Left to right:

Left to right:  Playmate,  Addict, Naked

The Beautifull Lips Lipstick is a cream lipstick that keeps lips quite moist. Ultra-moisturizing ingredients include Vitamin E, shea butter, and jojoba oil. Plus, the formula has natural peptides that keeps lips healthy and plump. The lipstick has nice pigmentation and a rich satin finish.

The Lip Addiction Lip Gloss ($17) is a moisturizing, shiny gloss that isn’t the least bit sticky. In fact, the slip is terrific and I love how it makes my lips feel. Plus, these have my favorite doe-foot applicator and the same natural peptides as the lipstick. The formula for both the lipstick and the lip gloss is great, and the nude shades are outstanding.

It’s not easy for me to pull off nude, in every sense of the word. When it comes to my lippie addiction, I am constantly searching for the right nude lip that doesn’t wash me out or make me look like I stopped breathing about ten minutes ago. I have to say that the In the Buff  collection has awesome shades that look great alone and even better when combined. Here are my favorite combinations.

In the Buff Lipstick

In the Buff Lipstick

Naked Lip Gloss

Naked Lip Gloss

Top to bottom: In the Buff Lipstick, Naked Lip Gloss, then Naked over In the Buff

Top to bottom: In the Buff Lipstick, Naked Lip Gloss, then Naked over In the Buff

In the Buff Lipstick is a peachy/brown cream nude. It actually applies a little darker than I expected, which is good because too light and my already thin lips disappear. Naked Lip Gloss is a creamy, milky peach. I can’t get away with wearing it alone – but I adore it layered over In the Buff.  This combination creates a fabulous peach that is glossy and understated – the perfect partner for a smoky eye.

Toast Lipstick

Toast Lipstick

Addict Lip Gloss

Addict Lip Gloss

Top to bottom: Toast, Addict, then Addict over Toast

Top to bottom: Toast, Addict, then Addict over Toast

Toast Lipstick is a warm rosy brown that really shines. Addict Lip Gloss is peach with golden shimmers…it brings me right back to a few years ago when the Pantone color of the year was tangerine.  Layer Addict over Toast and it creates a fantastic neutral tangerine that is super flattering.

If you already has a lippie addiction like I do, you have been warned – Beauty Addicts is only going to feed that addiction. And if you aren’t already addicted, you will be soon!

Marcia’s side:  I’m not as addicted to lipstick as Lisa is, as a matter of fact I often forget to put on lip color and only realize it when I’m out and about. But a nude lipstick is my favorite and that’s what I normally choose.

I have the Beautifull Lipstick in Shy and with the Lip Addiction Lip Gloss in Playmate. Sort of contradictory terms but that doesn’t make these any less beautiful.

Beauty Addicts Shy lipstick and Playmate lipgloss

Beauty Addicts: lipstick alone, gloss alone, combo

Beauty Addicts: lipstick alone, gloss alone, combo

This is a great combination for me whether I want to be “in the buff” or I just want to be me. Easy to wear, moisturizing and they make me feel comfortable.

What I’m really hear to discuss though is the rest of In the Buff: beauty ADDICTS Mineral SheerTINT. This is a true Tinted Moisturizer that isn’t making any pretense about being a BB Cream or a CC Cream (although it has the same qualities).

Beauty Addicts Mineral SheerTINT

Beauty Addicts Mineral SheerTINT

Mineral SheerTINT is color, moisturizer and sunscreen (SPF20) all rolled into one. This fragrance free product has surprisingly good coverage, much better than any TM that I’ve come across. It contains a blend of Ginseng Root Extract, Vitamins A, C, and E and powerful antioxidants. It’s available in 7 shades from Porcelain to Dark. I have it in Light which is actually too yellow for my skin so all you porcelain princesses should be looking at the lightest shade. I love to wear it, but I have to mix a little Face Atelier Zero into it to lighten it for my complexion.

Beauty Addicts SheerTINT in Light

Beauty Addicts SheerTINT in Light

Tinted Moisturizer in Medium

Tinted Moisturizer in Medium

As you can see from the two swatches, it runs dark and a little on the yellow side so keep that in mind when ordering. Mixing in Zero makes this a great shade for me.

Light with some Face Atelier Zero mixed in

The interesting thing that I’ve found when wearing Mineral SheerTINT is that it lasts a long time on my face. It’s surprising to me just how natural and long lasting this is. I’ve been using Skindinavia’s Primer Spray and Kiehl’s Micro Blur so I’m sure that helps but I’ve used those with other BB/CC creams without this success.

Beauty Info Zone is giving double thumbs up to beautyADDICTS for their summertime items. Whether you are in the mood for gloss, lipstick, tinted moisturizer or ALL you’ll be in the right place with these products.

Beauty Addicts wants to Motivate your eyes

I’m a little late on reviewing this beautiful Beauty Addicts SolutionEYES palette in Motivate. Exactly one month ago my blog partner Lisa started what we call a Side by Side review. Normally we do these together but Lisa was so thrilled with her Beauty Addicts Express palette that she wanted to let it shine alone. I understand that now after wearing Motivate for many weeks. When Beauty Addicts sent both palettes we didn’t know who would get to review which one. Once we picked though we were both hugging the one we ended up with.

Beauty Addicts divides its shadows and lip products into five different color families:

Glow:  youthful, flirtatious, shimmery

Express:  casual, elegant, earth tones

Motivate:  classic, edgy, evening shades

Seduce:  sexy, sultry, smoky

Play:  creative, liberated, colorful

Beauty Addicts SolutionEYES in Motivate

Beauty Addicts SolutionEYES in Motivate

While Motivate SolutionEYES may be considered evening shades, I’ve been wearing it both day and night with ease. The four shades coordinate perfectly and it’s one of the few palettes that I can easily use every color to create different looks. That’s the beauty of it. You can use anywhere from 1 to 4 of the shades and the combinations are wonderful.

Beauty Addicts Motivate SolutionEYES

Beauty Addicts Motivate SolutionEYES

The shadows themselves are soft and blend easily. I find that the best way to apply them is to pat them on, not rub. If I pat then I don’t get eyeshadow fallout so I definitely recommend that. I’ve been using a taklon brush like the MAC 242 for application. You absolutely need an eyeshadow primer with this palette since the shadows are so soft.

Clockwise from the top the shades are a light pink, an orchid that I’ve seen described as radiant orchid, a dusty lavender and a deep blue toned purple. The darkest shade can be used as your eyeliner. The lightest shade, pink, is a great shade to brighten your eyes. It’s not a rabbit type pink, it’s soft and lovely.

Motivate SolutionEYES by Beauty Addict

Motivate SolutionEYES by Beauty Addict

The pink and dark purple are both matte shades and have more pigment to them than the other two which have very subtle shimmer in them. You won’t see shimmer when you open the palette (or at least I don’t) but I do see it lightly come through when blending.

Whether you choose to be MOTIVATED with these soft purples that can become more intense for a smokey night look or you want an EXPRESS look with warm earth tones, you won’t go wrong. Beauty Addicts has the solution for your eyes. — Marcia

Review and GIVEAWAY! Dermarie Skin Care

We know there are tons of gimmicks out there for skin care, so it’s always exciting to try a line that is simply based on good science. Today we have three skin care products from Dermarie to tell you about; you’ll not only get the inside scoop you will also have a chance to win one of them for yourself!

dermarie

Dermarie is a new line for us and we were intrigued by their philosophy. All of Dermarie’s products are developed from science. This is a line that is about effective ingredients and results, not marketing magic. They find some excellent ingredients from nature, as well as some that chemists have invented. This is a technology-based line, folks – you won’t find any fads here! Everything is made and manufactured in the US and Dermarie is a cruelty-free line.

Today we have three products that Dermarie sent us to review, as well as a giveaway for each of the items. And if our review spurs your interest in the line, we have a special code just for Beauty Info Zone readers for a whopping 40% off.  Just add in the code BEAUTYINFOZONE40 at checkout.

Lisa’s Side:  I am the lucky one who got to test two of Dermarie’s bestselling skin care products.  I tested both an eye serum and a facial serum.

Under Eye Illuminator Anti-aging Serum ($45)

Dermarie Under Eye Illuminator Anti-aging Serum

Dermarie Under Eye Illuminator Anti-aging Serum

Dermarie Under Eye Serum dropper bottle

Dermarie Under Eye Serum dropper bottle

I have eye issues, no doubt about it. I’ve got discoloration under my eyes, dark circles, and puffiness. So the Under Eye Illuminator Anti-aging Serum sounded right up my alley. This serum attacks all three issues and creates a healthier, younger looking eye area. It does this through peptides, one of the best ingredients available in skin care.

I used this for a month and I definitely noticed a difference. This is applied morning and night, and I actually also used a regular eye cream over it because the serum isn’t really for hydration. Check out what it does:

  • Visibly improves the appearance of under eye dark circles, puffiness, and discoloration
  • Active complex of rapid absorbing peptides improve skin tone and texture
  • Treats all types of under eye dark circles

    • Blue Circles from capillary pressure
    • Brown Circles caused by hyperpigmentation
    • Yellow Circles from hereditary factors
  • Softens and smooths skin

And here is a statistic that made me hopeful – after two weeks, 83% of users reported a reduction of dark circles and 85% reported a reduction of eye puffiness. I noticed a big difference in both puffiness and under eye circles. If you have any of these issues, this just could be the answer for you.  (Ingredients include Seaweed Extract, Purified Water, Hyaluronic Acid, Oxido Reductases, Soy Peptide, Hydrolyzed Rice Bran Extract, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.)

Lumitox Acetyl Hexapeptide Anti-aging Facial Serum ($68)

Dermarie Lumitox Acetyl Hexapeptide Anti-aging Facial Serum

Dermarie Lumitox Acetyl Hexapeptide Anti-aging Facial Serum

Dermarie’s Lumitox Acetyl Hexapeptide Anti-aging Facial Serum has pretty sweet packaging.  It looks like a great big needle, I guess because the serum is like a topical Botox. Dermarie says it “interrupts the nerve signals responsible for facial expression lines and forehead wrinkles.” The peptides in this serum relax the muscle contractions that cause wrinkles, and by calming those muscles the appearance of lines is reduced.

Nope, it's not a needle...it just looks like one!

Nope, it’s not a needle…it just looks like one!

Lumitox Acetyl Hexapeptide Anti-aging Facial Serum

Lumitox Acetyl Hexapeptide Anti-aging Facial Serum

The two peptides are Hexapeptide-30 and Acetyl Hexapeptide-8. There is a lot of science behind this and Dermarie does a great job of explaining what these peptides do HERE.  The benefits of this facial serum are pretty amazing:

  • Formulated with two revolutionary deep penetrating peptides Hexapeptide-30 and Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
  • Reduces the severity of facial expression lines, wrinkle depth and fine lines
  • Lifts and tightens facial skin for improved elasticity and firmness
  • Relaxes and calms facial features for a more youthful appearance
  • Nourishing and skin revitalizing seaweed extract with hyaluronic acid for added moisturizing and skin protecting benefits

I used this morning and night for almost a month, and found it be a wonderful, lightweight serum. Did it actually reverse my expression lines? No, I think I will need to keep using it for a month or two longer to really know the long-term effects of this serum. But it did hydrate and plump up my skin, and my wrinkles certainly did not get any deeper. I think this is an exciting serum with very interesting science behind it and I am excited to find out what my results will be in another month or two. (Ingredients include Chondrus Crispus (Seaweed) Extract, Purified Water (Aqua), Hyaluronic Acid, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Acetyl Hexapeptide-30, Arginine, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.)

Marcia’s Side:  Eye Illuminator + Vitamin K Anti-aging Eye Cream ($58)

Dermarie Eye Illuminator + Vitamin K Anti-aging Eye Cream

Dermarie Eye Illuminator + Vitamin K Anti-aging Eye Cream

I’ve been using Dermarie Eye Illuminator + Vitamin K Anti-aging Eye Cream for almost a month now and every time I put it on I get mad at it. Truthfully, I yell at it in my head. I don’t understand why an eye cream has to be fragranced. But that hasn’t stopped me from using it night after night. The benefits outweigh the fragrance. Since everything in the eye cream is natural I know that the fragrance most likely comes from the organic botanicals used.

great pump packaging

Eye cream, just a dab needed

Eye cream, just a dab needed

The results of using Eye Illuminator + Vitamin K Anti-aging Eye Cream compensate for my nose’s preferences (and the aroma only lasts about 20 minutes). The fact that this is helping with my horrible dark circles and the puffiness under my eyes makes me keep using it. Ingredients like Vitamin K, arnica, and DCX help with circulation and strengthen the delicate layers of skin under my eyes. Those ingredients also mobilize the blood flow around my eyes to alleviate the appearance of dark circles, puffiness, and swelling. I take a million pictures (and delete 99% of them) and it’s not my undereye area where I use the Dermarie that shows up darkly.

Dermarie Eye Illuminator + Vitamin K Anti-aging Eye Cream

Dermarie Eye Illuminator + Vitamin K Anti-aging Eye Cream

Loving hyaluronic acid as an ingredient, like I do, makes this a very hydrating eye cream for me. The moisturizing qualities of hyaluronic acid along with the blend of these other ingredients make for an eye cream that does what it says – illuminates, helps with the signs of anti-aging, and decreases dark circles. I couldn’t ask for more.

IROHA Masks to pamper and delight

Once upon a time Beauty Info Zone got a mystery package of goodies for possible review. Inside were two intriguing masks that Marcia and Lisa fought over. While we didn’t come to blows since that would ruin our manicures we did have to do rock, scissors, paper to decide who’d get to review the most unusual one. Lisa won that game but Marcia wasn’t a loser since the mask she is reviewing is one she is thrilled about.

IROHA MASKS have a variety of products that all use natural ingredients. There are so many types of masks that they make including new creamy ones and exfoliating socks. It’s a new world to explore.

MARCIA’S MASK: Pearl Extract + Deep Ocean Water

INORA Pearl + Deep Ocean Water Mask

INORA Pearl + Deep Ocean Water Mask

The first thing I noticed about this mask is that it’s got hyaluronic acid which is an ingredient that I’m crazy about. Hyaluronic acid helps redensify the skin and holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Hydration is important as you age. The second thing I noticed is what the Pearl Extract mask was composed of. It’s a tissue mask that contains 23 mL of natural actives to help with intense anti-aging results.

INORA Pearl Mask ingredients

INORA Pearl Mask ingredients

Iroha makes 5 different types of anti-aging tissue masks. ALOE, GREEN TEA + GINSENG for purifying; CAVIAR + ARBUTIN for brightening; OLIVE OIL + WITCH HAZEL for nourishing; Q-10 + COLLAGEN + SOY for wrinkles; and PEARL EXTRACT + DEEP OCEAN WATER for lifting.

Iroha tissue mask

Iroha tissue mask

This Pearl Extract + Deep Ocean Water mask helps soften skin. You just can’t imagine how fabulous it feels once you remove it. The masks goal is to restore firmness and reduce spot appearance. With just one use though I can’t say it did that. But it did make my face feel firmer and wonderfully hydrated.

Iroha Pearl + Deep Ocean Water Mask

Iroha Pearl + Deep Ocean Water Mask

Before I used the mask I cleansed and took the advice of the video on the IROHA site and exfoliated first with my Foreo Luna. The mask itself is very wet, loaded with serum. It is very cool feeling on my skin without any tingling. Just an incredibly refreshing feeling like I’ve been taken away to a spa and gotten waited on by gorgeous men. There are eye flaps so you could do your eyelids but I preferred to put those close up on my lower eyelid rather than covering my eye.

Iroha - you can lay down and pull up the eye flap

Iroha – you can lay down and pull up the eye flap

Directions say to keep it on for 15 minutes but it doesn’t really dry and get uncomfortable so I felt like I could leave it on for as long as I wanted. Maybe next time I will. When you are finished you want to keep the benefits of the natural ingredients and use this as your serum. The mask and serum stayed moist and hydrating the entire time it was on my face. After I put on my makeup I was amazed at how soft and line free I thought I looked. The best price I could find on the masks was at their website but I don’t know the shipping cost. This particular mask is also found at Amazon.

LISA’S MASK: Regenerating Intensive Hand and Nail Repairing and Nourishing Treatment gloves with Peach

Iroha Regenerating Hand Mask

Iroha Regenerating Hand Mask

Well, not only is my mask unusual – my very first mask for hands! – it also wins the longest name award by far.  The IROHA Regenerating Intensive Hand and Nail Repairing and Nourishing Treatment Gloves with Peach Aromatherapy ($9) repairs and nourishes hands, cuticles, and fingernails. Each packet contains two gloves, so that’s one hand treatment.

Iroha makes 2 different types of hand treatment masks. Rejuvenating Intensive Hand and Nail Lifting and Firming Treatment Gloves with Rose Aromatherapy for lifting and firming, and Regenerating Intensive Hand and Nail Repairing and Nourishing Treatment gloves with Peach Aromatherapy for repairing and nourishing.

The gloves are actually sealed together along the bottom seam, which helps keeps all the great ingredients inside the gloves and ready for your hands. The serum inside has wonderful ingredients that include Vitamin E, Arbutin Urea, Grapefruit Extract, Green Tea, Orange Fruit Extract , Lemon Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba leaf extract, honeysuckle flower, and olive fruit extract.

Iroha mask for your hands

Iroha mask for your hands

Iroha hand treatment gloves

Iroha hand treatment gloves

Using this hand treatment is easy. Just wash and dry hands, then tear along the seam to separate gloves and create the opening for hands. Put the gloves on and take a load off!  The longer you sit, the more time the active ingredients have to soak in and treat hands. It’s extremely relaxing to kick back and take deep inhales of the fresh, juicy peach scented aromatherapy. After at least 20 minutes, remove the gloves and massage in any leftover serum. This treatment left my hands extremely soft and hydrated. It is a great way to treat yourself, especially if your hands are a little beat up from gardening or housework. This treasure is available at Ulta for a luxurious treat.

Iroha Masks have been a pleasure to discover. It’s a great way to pamper and delight.

A summer moisturizer challenge – we were up to the task!

Beauty Info Zone was asked to participate in a summer moisturizer challenge. We were offered two moisturizers and asked to test them to see which might be the best for summer. We agreed to do this but maybe slightly different than we were asked. Since Sundays are often our Side by Side reviews we decided to each review one of the moisturizers, write about them, and then leave it up to you as to which you might consider to be the best.

Marcia chose Citrus Clear Moisturizer because it is a more moisturizing product while at the same time it’s good for skin renewal. Lisa chose Shielo Moisturizer since she needs more oil control. Sit back and learn about these two companies and our unbiased opinions and decide for yourself.

CITRUS CLEAR SKIN REPAIR MOISTURIZER reviewed by Marcia

Citrus Clear Skin Repair Organic Moisturizer

Citrus Clear Skin Repair Organic Moisturizer

I had never heard of the Citrus Clear brand so I didn’t know what to expect at all. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they are a chemical free company that uses organic citrus as their base. Citrus Clear uses a cold press extraction system to maintain the ingredients quality.

Citrus Clear

Citrus Clear

Citrus Clear’s products are actually for skin that is acne prone. I do get breakouts on my chin especially in the summer so this felt like a good fit.

I received the Skin Repair Moisturizer on an extremely hot day and it sat on my porch for a few hours. I don’t know for sure what the texture of the moisturizer should be but mine is a very loose consistency. It’s not watery but it’s definitely loose. I can smell the citrus in it but there’s another ingredient that changes the fragrance so that it’s a combination of floral and citrus. There’s a long list of ingredients that are a combination of science and organic nature. The fragrance is delightful even though it lingers for about 15-20 minutes.

Citrus Clear open - see the thinner texture

Citrus Clear open – see the thinner texture

My skin looked and felt great using this moisturizer but I felt it just wasn’t rich enough. I’m sure it’s the thin texture that caused this reaction. It’s good for the current weather of hot and muggy but I wouldn’t want to wear it once the winds began. I chose to use this at night only since there’s no sunscreen protection. It took a little while to dry down but once it did my skin felt smooth and never like I’d overloaded on moisturizer.

Citrus Clear

Citrus Clear

I can see how this would be a good moisturizer for acne prone skin since it isn’t overly rich. Since it contains a high concentration of organic aloe vera, vitamin c and essential fatty acids it helps with fine lines and wrinkles. It also has natural antibacterial properties in the moisturizer fight skin discoloration, while keeping skin moisturized. It is on sale for $22 (from $44) at the current time.

SHIELO COMPLEXION MOISTURIZER reviewed by Lisa

Shielo Complexion Moisturizer

Shielo Complexion Moisturizer

I had heard of the Shielo brand before but only knew it for their hair care. So the Complexion Moisturizer (regularly $30, currently on sale for $24) was certainly an intriguing choice, especially when I saw that it is cruelty free and vegan.

inside the jar

inside the jar

swatched

thick and creamy goodness

The major ingredients include aloe vera to help repair skin, safflower oil as both an antioxident and an emollient, and retinyl palmitate (otherwise known as Vitamin A) which is a fantastic antioxidant and treatment for wrinkles. This is a thick, creamy, snow white moisturizer. I don’t know why, but I am very partial to super white moisturizers – maybe because they look so clean and perfect. This one looks so good I almost want to grab a spoon and eat it.

I think it’s a wonderful moisturizer for summer. While it is thick, it sinks in quickly and doesn’t feel wet or heavy on the skin. It has an elegant formula that is also pH balanced so it is great for oily skin and won’t clog pores. My skin is left feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. The Complexion Moisturizer is definitely in my summer skin care rotation!

Conclusion: Both are GREAT for the summer, but work in different ways. The Shielo Moisturizer is better at leveling the complexion and controlling oil, while the Citrus Clear Moisturizer is more moistening and for skin renewal.
