Beauty Info Zone has been affiliated with ShopBop for almost a year though it’s quietly in the background and we don’t talk about it much. But now is the perfect time to discuss and showcase them because they’ve opened a new shop called Born Free that is only available for a limited time.
Shopbop joined forces with Born Free, (led by John Megrue), Anna Wintour and Diane von Furstenberg in conjunction with Amazon Fashion, MAC AIDS Fund and 22 leading women in fashion, in an effort to raise awareness and support for the elimination of mother-to-child HIV transmission. The 22 top designers who have contributed to the collection are mothers themselves and therefore, strongly connected to this initiative.
Key points about the Born Free cause:
- Born Free is a private sector-led initiative with the sole objective of ending mother-to-child HIV transmission by December 31, 2015
- One pill a day saves a child from HIV; elimination is possible!
What is special about the Collection? The entire collection, including clothing and accessories for women and children, is based on prints from Wangechi Mutu, a celebrated Kenyan-born New York- based visual artist. This collection includes around 50 items, with most items under $250. It is limited edition – when it sells out, it is gone!
The designers that have collaborated with Born Free for this important initiative are only amazing. Look at this list: Victoria Beckham, Gisele Bundchen, Tory Burch, Sarah Burton (Alexander McQueen), Consuelo Castiglioni (Marni), Alberta Ferretti, Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan (DKNY and Urban Zen), Liya Kebede, Clare Waight Keller (Chloe), Jenna Lyons (J Crew), Isabel Marant, Marchesa, Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo (Celine), Miuccia Prada, Rachel Roy, Ivanka Trump, Donatella Versace and Vera Wang. If you want more information about these designers you can use our Shopbop link on the right.
The two of us at Beauty Info Zone believe very strongly in supporting causes like this so we hope you’ll go to Born Free, take a look, and possibly buy something that will be stylish and be helping this important cause.
Shopbop is asking all posters to use #joinbornfree to join the conversation, and #im4zero to show your personal support for the cause. A quote from DVF, one of our partners: “We already have the solution, we just need to scream it. It’s the very beginning of the end of HIV.” - Diane von Furstenberg on Born Free.
