Learn what Vitabrid C¹² can do for your hair

I don’t know about you but the expression “having a bad hair day” is all too real and too scary for me. I’m one of those people who really care about how my hair looks and feels. I’m not saying I go around with perfect hair since that’s not possible but I am saying that taking good care of my hair is essential to my mood. I hope I’m not too shallow saying that!

Vitabrid C12 Hair Tonic and Scalp Shampoo

When Vitabrid came into my life I assumed it was like the other haircare products that I’ve used but it’s different in a wonderful way. Vitabrid C¹² Hair Tonic Set is what I wish had been in my life when I was going through two different illnesses that caused massive hair loss for me. Now though I know it will be available to me if something strikes again.

Vitabrid C¹² Hair Tonic Set

Vitabrid C¹² Hair Tonic Set is a professional product now available at Barney’s that you can easily do yourself. Its goal is to promote a healthy scalp and healthy hair. The box contains a 3.7 fl oz bottle of Scalp Relief Tonic, a 0.03 oz vial of Scalp Relief Powder, and spray nozzles. To begin pour the entire contents of the Scalp Relief Powder into the Scalp Relief Tonic bottle. Install the spray nozzle, shut tightly and shake to mix the products well. Spray it onto your scalp and massage it in. You’ll love the luxury of massaging your scalp. If you have a hair tool that is gentle you can use that for the massage. Then just comb or brush through your hair.

Vitabrid C¹² Hair Tonic Set

Why use this Hair Tonic Set? Well it helps to prevent further hair loss and promotes thicker hair. It suppresses aging of the scalp. Just think of your grandparents and what their scalp looked like. The products supply both moisture and nutrients to your hair while making your scalp feel clean and healthy. The Hair Tonic is a leave-in product. You don’t use it in the shower, you use it on dry hair and don’t wash it out. My method was to apply it in the early evening and let it work its magic and then in the morning wash my hair as usual. It doesn’t make hair feel greasy or weighed down.

Vitabrid C¹² Hair Tonic Vitamin powder

The POWDER ingredients are zinc oxide, ascorbic acid, glyceryl monostearate and the TONIC ingredients are dexpanthenol, L-menthol, salicylic acid, biotin.

Vitabrid C¹² Hair Tonic

Vitabrid C¹² was created by chemistry professor Jin Ho Choi in South Korea. Vitabrid C¹² harnesses the power of vitamin C in its collection of beauty treatments. Through Choi’s proprietary biotechnology, vitamin C is mixed with stabilizing zinc, a combination designed to capture the nutrient’s potency and allow it to penetrate the skin and hair over the course of 12 hours. The groundbreaking compound can be found in the line’s shampoo, skin brightener, acne fighter, and more.

Vitabrid C¹² Hair Tonic Set

Your hair isn’t going to grow overnight, it goes through a cycle just like your eyebrows, eyelashes, and nails so it takes time to see a difference. When I started using an eyelash growth product and an eyebrow growth one I didn’t see a difference for 6 weeks but once it started I was glad I stuck with it. I feel the same about Vitabrid C¹², time is its friend and my hair’s friend. I now need to convince my husband that this is a product for him since he’s always complaining about his male pattern baldness and its progression.

Vitabrid Vitamin C¹² Scalp Shampoo

Vitabrid Vitamin C¹² Scalp Shampoo is another product that needs to grace your Shower. Vitabrid C¹²’s shampoo is packed with safe and effective ingredients to improve scalp and hair health. The formula effectively strengthens hair while hydrating and soothing the scalp.
.

The Vitabrid Vitamin C¹² Scalp Shampoo gives my hair more volume. It isn’t fragrance free but there’s almost no fragrance to it. It just leaves my hair smelling fresh. It’s unlike other shampoos because of the Vitamin C in it. It doesn’t just remove the sebum and dirt, instead it fully cleanses the hair while promoting scalp nutrition moisture balance at the same time. Vitamin C helps with blood flow in their formula.

Vitabrid Vitamin C¹² Scalp Shampoo

Another thing to take note of is that this contains zinc oxide so it’s UV protection for hair too. It’s protecting your scalp and for those of us who color treat our hair it helps keep the sun from fading it. These 7 natural ingredients are in their formula and supply moisture, calms scalp, increases hair luster, forms protective scalp barrier
Panax Ginseng Root Extract Increases skin’s energy and immunity
Morus Alba Bark Extract Prevents oxidative skin damage, mitigating sensitive skin
Algae Extract Maintains moisture and elasticity of the skin leaving skin soft & flexible
Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract Blocks harmful substances that cause itchiness soothing the skin
Iris Extract Scalp dandruff & itchiness control along with strengthened hair with luster
Cnidium Officinale Root Extract Restores & improves scalp condition
Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-Yuen Seed Extract Removes skin wastes & exfoliants, decreasing pore size and supplying nutrition
While Vitabrid Vitamin C¹² Scalp Shampoo can be used by anyone it’s especially effective for people with hair loss problems.
 .
With these products your hair can look good while your scalp is at work activating hair follicle stem cells. While you may not need the Hair Tonic Set in your life right now I bet you know someone who could benefit greatly from this. You’d be doing yourself a favor too to add the Scalp Shampoo into your haircare regimen now that you know the benefits. There are a lot of Vitabrid C12 products that all sound as wonderful as this that I hope to try too.  Good scalp health to you readers. —  Marcia

White Sands hair care revitalizes and smoothes

White Sands Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner, Porosity The Fix, The Cure 24/7 Serum

It’s always interesting to me is to learn about the companies that I’m using and going to share with you. I’m not talking about the big department store brands that we are all familiar with but I am interested in the independent companies that have a story behind them.

White Sands Haircare

White Sands Hair Products were created by the Salas family with a small amount of money and one product. Once they were able to introduce their product at the Orlando Premiere Beauty Show, sell everything they brought, they began their journey from there. Their American dream had begun and now fine salons throughout the country know their story.

Lisa already reviewed the three White Sands products she received and now it’s time for me to take you back to the beginning of your shower time with White Sands Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner (as well as two others).

White Sands Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo and Revitalizing Conditioner

There are 3 different shampoo and conditioner lines created by White Sands and I was thrilled to receive Orchid Bliss. These two products are wonderful for hair like mine: color treated and needing frizz control. Orchid Bliss shampoo and conditioner use the anti-aging characteristics and mineral richness of the orchid flower. As someone who is averse to fragrance in products I was a little leery of what this would bring. All I can say is that it’s wonderful. The fragrance is minimal and actually one I only notice in the shower. After I dry my hair I don’t notice it all. What I do notice though is a shiny head of hair that is moisturized and soft, one that isn’t looking or feeling dried out, one that isn’t as affected by humidity.

Orchid Bliss Revitalizing Shampoo and Conditioner are sulfate free so I feel they’re safer for my hair. One ingredient I look for in haircare is Sodium and unfortunately the shampoo does contain Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulforate and other varieties of sodium. That hasn’t been a deal killer for me now but once I get another keratin treatment I’ll have to put the Revitalizing Shampoo to the side for a few months. Luckily for me the other products I’m using, including Revitalizing Conditioner will continue to be used once the treatment is done. The conditioner is best if you leave it in for about a minute but that’s not an unusual direction.

White Sands the Cure 24/7 serum and Porosity the fix

I’m never done when my shampooing and conditioning are finished. Next is towel drying with my Aquis hair towel and a treatment product or two to work through my hair and make it easier to style.

White Sands the CURE 24/7 serum

White Sands the Cure 24/7 serum

White Sands compares The Cure 24/7 to a blur cream. I think that’s a great way to think about this product. The serum is a leave in reconstructive treatment with visible results. It is known for repairing damaged hair fibers, making your hair stronger and healthier, and restoring hair that’s been abused. As someone who uses 2 – 3 heat tools a day I need this. I’d been torturing my hair and needed this to make my hair look smoother and less flyaway. It’s done just that. While I don’t notice that I have split ends that’s one of the positives that White Sands talks about with The Cure. I spray this on and then comb through my hair prior to blow drying.

White Sands Porosity The Fix

White Sands Porosity The Fix is an old friend of mine. My hairdresser is a huge fan of White Sands and Porosity The Fix is a product she uses on me whenever I’m in for color and cut. Just like The Cure 24/7 was compared to a blur product, The Fix has been compared to makeup for hair. This is especially great for people who color treat their hair since it temporarily fills in the “blemishes” found in each strand. Porosity The Fix is wonderful prior to any heat use, especially a flat iron. My hairdresser uses this as my shine product when she’s done with my hair. I use it that way too but also prior to using my flat iron. I can use this daily without worrying about build up.

All in all I’m thrilled to have White Sands in my repertoire. The fear of fragrance was wrong wrong wrong. What little fragrance I notice is irrelevant but my great looking hair is very relevant. Something you and your hair will notice and love too.  —  Marcia

Calling all brunettes: John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Lightening Collection is your new friend

It’s summer and there’s actually sun coming out to play. It seems like it took forever to get here but I’ve made the best of it with summer shiny hair thanks to John Frieda. They say that blondes have all the fun but if you are a brunette you too can have summer fun with the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Lightening Collection.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Shampoo

There are three pieces to this collection but I’ve mostly been using the Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brightening Shampoo and Conditioner to bring out shine and highlights on my brown hair. I get my hair colored about every 3 to 4 weeks but with John Frieda I’ve been stretching it out longer and getting in about 5 weeks. I love saving time and money! I’m not someone who enjoys sitting for 2 hours in a salon while getting color done. I like instant gratification – or at least quick gratification.

I’ve been washing my hair with the Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Shampoo. I love how much brighter and more alive my hair looks after using this. The shampoo is a light golden caramel color that deposits color that’s lighter than my current shade. It doesn’t change the color as much as it brightens it. I usually leave the shampoo in for about 2 minutes before rinsing. This leaves my hair so shiny and it’s not drying at all.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Shampoo

On to the Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Conditioner which is thicker and luxurious looking. That I leave on for several minutes even though directions don’t necessarily tell me to do so. But I love the softness that it provides while nourishing my hair. My hair also feels fuller after using this giving me some nice volume.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Conditioner

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Brighter Subtle Lightening Conditioner

The sum total of these two products is a more golden shade with extra brightness but no brassiness. I wash my hair 3 times per week and the more often I use these John Frieda products in between color appointments the more golden my hair looks. If you want even more lightening then wash every day. Your hairdresser won’t like this but you certainly will.

before

John Frieda Visibly Brighter after

These two products are formulated with honey and marigold flower extract which gives them a light fragrance. I notice the fragrance when I’m first blow drying but afterwards my hair just smells like freshly washed hair.

You don’t need color treated hair to try these as they work perfectly on all brunettes even those of us who need a “little” help keeping the gray at bay. At $9.99 MSRP each you’ll have months of shiny hair that makes you think that you too are a blonde having fun. —  Marcia

Oribe Shampoo for Beautiful Hair (amazon.com photo)

Oribe is a high-end brand that was developed by a celebrity hairstylist and two beauty industry veterans. They use skin care technology and natural actives to create high-performance good-for-you products.

I know this isn’t organic but I haven’t found an organic shampoo that I love. Therefore I’ve been using Oribe (pronounced OrBay) for my color treated hair. It’s formulated without sulfates or parabens and right now that’s good enough for me.

The entire ingredients from the Oribe website are:
Oribe Signature Complex (Watermelon, Lychee and Edelweiss Flower Extracts) These defend hair from oxidative stress, photoaging and the deterioration of natural keratin, all while protecting from the drying, damaging and color-depleting effects of the elements.

Bioflavonoids, responsible for giving fruits their fantastic hues, protect hair’s own color from fading and discoloration.

Baobab Tree Extract, from an African plant known for its hydration storage, offers the same benefit to parched, color-treated tresses, providing superior moisture to the driest areas first.

Edelweiss Flower Extract, from the Swiss Alps, provides natural protection against the drying, damaging and color-depleting effects of the elements.

Kaempferia Galanga Root Extract, found in Southeast Asia, Delivers natural UV protection.

Multi-Layered UV Protection System delivers long-lasting UV protection and protects hair from the harmful effects of the sun.

Watermelon Extract, from the Kalahari Desert, provides natural protection against oxidative stress and the deterioration of natural keratin.

Even though this is priced at $44 it’s worth it for what it does for my hair. I love the light lather and how my wavy hair looks both shiny and healthy. My color stays true within the four week time period in which I color my hair. Even my stylist remarked on my color not fading. When I had highlights they also remained fresh. It’s lightly scented but once rinsed out you really can’t detect any fragrance.

I vow to love, honor and Oribe.  –  Phyllis

CUVÉE, the champagne of haircare

CUVÉE is an invitation to a world of modern luxury. Where the champagne is forever flowing and your hair is forever flawless.

CUVÉE Protective Treatment

CUVÉE Protective Treatment

I’ve been introduced to the champagne of haircare with CUVÉE. I was sent 3 packets of this luxury line along with a full size of their Styling Treatment so that I could experience the glamour of the line. This is not your mother’s haircare and it certainly isn’t my mother’s but it’s uniqueness makes it worth trying. I did find this to be a very fragrant line. It’s a combination of champagne and fig and is scented this way to develop a seductive experience.

CUVÉE Shampoo, Styling Balm and Conditioner packets

CUVÉE Shampoo, Styling Balm and Conditioner packets

Each product contains our proprietary Cuvée Complex™ that utilizes small, best-of-the-batch ingredients for products that create real results. Champagne, White Truffle, Platinum along with other Botanicals are carefully blended to repair and strengthen for lush, shiny hair.

CUVÉE Shampoo

CUVÉE Shampoo

CUVÉE SHAMPOO ($35) is for all hair types. This lathers up beautifully, I almost felt like I was in a shampoo commercial. It left my hair very soft and easy to manage.  Even though I only got 4 washes from it my color stayed true. It also doesn’t leave a residue behind so that meant no flakes on my scalp.

CUVÉE Conditioner

CUVÉE Conditioner

CUVÉE Conditioner ($38) is the perfect product to use after using their shampoo. It doesn’t take a lot to condition yet it left my hair very manageable. I felt like it was hydrating yet it washed out easily. All CUVÉE products are Sulfate Free, Paraben Free,  Phthalate Free, and Cruelty Free.

CUVÉE Styling Balm

CUVÉE Styling Balm

CUVÉE Styling Balm ($45) is the product I had trouble with the first time I used it. I always need a balm or serum to smooth out my hair or I can’t even get my brush through it. I didn’t realize how little I needed of this balm and overdid it my first time. My hair felt heavy and weighed down. Even though the cost of this Styling Balm is higher than the shampoo and conditioner, it takes just a small amount to work so you’ll get many more uses from it. This is especially nice for hair that needs taming especially with frizz weather here. You can use this on both wet or dry hair but it’s too thick for me on dry hair. It’s a very lush feeling balm but a little goes a long way.

CUVÉE Protective Treatment

CUVÉE Protective Treatment

CUVÉE Protective Treatment ($45) is a spray serum that you can easily use on wet or dry hair. I used it on second/third day hair prior to using a heating tool. It’s very lightweight and doesn’t weigh my hair down at all. This treatment has UV Protection & Antioxidant properties to protect your hair from the sun and elements. CUVÉE Protective Treatment is the product that I definitely noticed the champagne feel. I felt enveloped in it. While the ingredients don’t mention champagne the CUVÉE Complex contains it.

Combining only top-of-the-line ingredients, the CUVEE COMPLEX™ was born. It is a carefully crafted blend of: Champagne Extracts for soft, shiny hair that provides antioxidant properties to guard against damage from pollution. White Truffle Extracts add moisture. Platinum Extracts detoxifies the hair and scalp. Plant proteins nourish and protect from UV Rays. Resveratrol slows down the process of hair loss. Ceramides help repair hair fibers resulting in stronger, thicker, more resilient hair.

If you are ready for luxury in your life then you are probably ready for CUVÉE in your life too. — Marcia

éprouvage proves hair can look its best in any season

logo

There’s only one thing that I can think of that makes éprouvage a difficult brand to use – I don’t know how to pronounce its name! Other than that I like everything about it. As a woman with hopefully straight hair I’m looking for a haircare line that is smoothing, helps with color treated hair, fights the frizz, and is working to prevent breakage. éprouvage Smoothing Shampoo and Smoothing Conditioner has fulfilled those promises.

éprouvage is an anti-aging haircare line with different categories of hair products. You can buy their Fortifying line, their Gentle Volume line, their Reparative line, and more at Ulta. Products are reasonably priced at about $15 and $16 for 8.45 fl oz of shampoo and conditioner.

Newly released is the Smoothing line which is right up my alley. éprouvage uses “Progressive Plant Cells” in their formulas.

Healthy hair and scalp start at the cellular level. The powerful actives in our products work at the scalp to create the ideal environment to produce stronger, healthier hair. Highly concentrated antioxidant molecules neutralize free radicals and reduce the harmful effects of oxidative stress involved in aging. A proprietary peptide blend helps create thicker, fuller-looking hair.

éprouvage Smoothing Shampoo is subtitled For Moisturizing & Taming. It’s a color safe formula that is free of sulfates, parabens, and gluten. It’s a gentle cream that lathers lightly. The shampoo itself almost looks luminous.

éprouvage Smoothing Shampoo

One thing that attracted me to éprouvage Smoothing products is that are good for the scalp. This winter often left me with a flaky scalp that was extremely annoying. When I’m using the éprouvage Smoothing Shampoo and Conditioner, I massage them into my scalp. I’ve seen results from that since I’m not noticing flakes. My scalp is benefiting as much as my hair.

éprouvage Smoothing Conditioner is the companion piece that is especially good for nourishing hydration.

Benefits

  • Restores hydration and nourishes dry, unruly hair.
  • Gently detangles without weighing hair down.
  • Replenishes moisture and improves manageability.

These have a light floral fragrance which I find soothing. It’s not a strong fragrance and I don’t notice it after my hair is dry. They make my hair more manageable and keep it straighter longer.

Don’t wash your hair – Unwash it!

Unwash Hair CareLather, rinse, repeat…then condition. That’s what we were taught…in fact, it was the ONLY way to get clean, soft hair. Then came cleansing conditioners, which left hair clean and soft but were far more time-consuming than regular shampoo and conditioner. Now there is Unwash – a co-cleansing system that cleans hair without stripping color, natural oils, and moisture.                                                                                                                       samples

Some of the benefits of Unwashing include:

  • a simple system that saves money since you don’t need any extra styling products
  • Cationic Cleansers act like magnets to remove daily dirt without disrupting the cuticle
  • no sulfates
  • reduces dry time
  • safe for every type of hair

The Unwash Try Me Kit ($25) includes the Anti-Residue Cleanse which is a ‘reset button for the tresses’; the Hydrating Mask  a moisture-locking conditioner; and the Bio-Cleansing Conditioner which does all the work of a shampoo and a conditioner without stripping hair’s natural integrity.

Anti-Residue CleanseThe first time I tested it, I used the Anti-Residue Cleanse specifically because I felt I needed a deep cleaning. I had put off getting my hair colored so I had lots of spray on hair color on my roots along with several days worth of hairspray. The instructions say to massage a ‘generous amount’ into your scalp then work through the ends of hair. I have an absolute ton of hair – it’s mid-back length – so I usually need even more than usual. However, the Try Me Kit has smaller bottles (2.5 fl. oz – regular size is 20 fl. oz) so I have to admit I probably didn’t use enough product to begin with since I was trying to conserve. One wash didn’t get my hair totally clean so I actually did the dreaded ‘rinse and repeat’ – but again, I have so much hair and it was pretty dirty. Once I rinsed the second time, my hair and scalp felt very clean and while it didn’t feel as uncomfortably squeaky as it does with a typical clarifying shampoo I could tell I needed a conditioner.

Hydrating MaskThe second half of the Unwash dynamic duo with the Anti-Residue Cleanse is the Hydrating Mask. This is a super hydrating conditioner that restores hair’s moisture balance and leaves it soft and beautiful. It definitely hydrated my hair, leaving it feeling silky and rinsing out without any tangles. The directions say to keep it on for about four minutes – I put it on after rinsing the Anti-Residue Cleanse then commenced showering, probably rinsing it out after about 3 minutes which was plenty of time. I found that after towel drying there truly is no need for more conditioner like any leave-in spray on products  Resist the temptation! I typically use a leave in just because my hair is so long that my ends can get weak and damaged, but Unwash doesn’t play well with – and doesn’t need – any extra products. When I used other conditioning styling products they left my hair feeling sort of gummy. Truly, even those with very dry hair will find the Anti-Residue Cleanse and Hydrating Mask all that is needed for clean, soft, moisturized hair.

Bio-Cleansing ConditionerThe signature product, Unwash’s Bio-Cleansing Conditioner, is a stand alone product. It doesn’t have any lather and it cleanses thanks to the cationic cleansers that act like magnets that remove daily dirt without disrupting the cuticle, as well as conditions with coconut oil, babassu oil, and organic argan oil. It leaves my hair feeling great – soft, clean, and frizz-free. I find that I have to take rinsing VERY seriously – not fully rinsing ruins the effect and hair can end up a bit flat. I also find that in order to get three or four days between washing I need to use dry shampoo on my roots, but that’s nothing unusual – I work out most days and get pretty sweaty, so dry shampoo is a daily must for me anyway.

Overall, I think that Unwash is a great concept and all three products in the Try Me Kit are well worth trying. You can find the Try Me Kit at Ulta.  Give it a shot – you may end up loving Unwashing your hair!  – Lisa
