Love Life Skin – perfect name for a perfect serum

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

I’m not going to lie – I love the name of this product. How can you get any better than LOVE LIFE SKIN? Plus it’s the facial product that I need in my skincare regimen — SERUM!  What I received from LOVE LIFE SKIN is their INTENSIVE RECOVERY SERUM and I couldn’t wait to use it. I think a facial serum is a necessity for my skin. Ever since I started incorporating them on a daily basis I’ve noticed a vast difference in the look and feel of my face.

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

INTENSIVE RECOVERY SERUM is a very silky fragrance free product that glides on my face and absorbs quickly. It’s great for soothing skin and helping to moisturize it. If you have very dry and/or delicate skin then this is a serum you’ll want. And the price for this ($30) is very reasonable in this world of crazy skincare prizes.

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

While I don’t exactly know what Recovery Elixir 31 is they tell me that it’s a potent blend of natural of natural botanical extracts, antioxidants and moisturizing agents that absorb quickly to help repair and restore damaged skin. And I believe them (see the long list of ingredients at the very bottom of the review).

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

Love Life Skin Intensive Recovery Serum

This white silky serum feels great on my skin and a little goes a long way. I use less than you see in my swatch for my entire face. It absorbs quickly so that I can move on with more skincare. I’ve been using this for close to two months so it’s been used with a lot of different brands and types of product. With a tinted moisturizer like the Algenist Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer or a CC Cream from a brand like IT Cosmetics, I don’t need to add extra moisturizer. With a liquid foundation I’ll use the moisturizer of the week/month and an SPF product. Nothing interferes with this serum and nothing makes it ball up.

LOVE LIFE SKIN was developed in collaboration with a cancer patient going through treatment who was also in the beauty industry and doctors who were interested in helping patients with the dehydration caused by chemo and radiation. A chemist was added to this mix and Love Life Skin was born. Their goal is to have a skincare line to address the condition of dehydrated, sensitive skin. If the rest of the line is like the Intensive Recovery Serum then they’ve succeeded.

I’m happy to have found a paraben free, sulfate free serum that loves my skin. If you aren’t sure about this then a suggestion would be to try their Loving Life sample kit ($30) that contains Refreshing Creamy Cleanser ( 1.0 fl. oz. / 30 ml ) LL Cream Radiance Moisturizer ( 1.0 fl. oz. / 30 ml ) Restorative Night Cream ( 0.5 fl. oz. / 15 ml ) Revitalizing Eye Cream ( 0.17 fl. oz / 5 ml ) Intensive Recovery Serum Sachet ( 0.03 oz / 1 ml )

Are you using a serum on your face? Which one? If it’s not Intensive Recovery System maybe it should be.  — Marcia

Why I love Lindi Skin and a giveaway so you can too

Lindi Skin collection

Lindi Skin collection

I try a lot of skincare brands but none of them is like LINDI SKIN. The 4 products I was sent to test are remarkable and unusual, all in a great way. The line is unlike anything I’ve tried and I’m so delighted with it that I begged asked the brand to do a givaway for one of you.

LINDI SKIN has a variety of skincare that is meant to be a solution to problems. Their products were created to soothe skin especially to relieve the effects of radiation, chemotherapy, and day-to-day wear resulting from cancer treatments. The brand goes beyond cancer patients though as I’ve seen in my own use. It’s for anyone.

The 4 products I have are the Lindi Face Wash ($22), Lindi Citrus Face Serum ($36), Lindi Eye Hydrator ($30), and Lindi Lip Balm ($10).

LINDI FACE WASH

Lindi Skin Face Wash

Lindi Skin Face Wash

Lindi Fash Wash is a liquid cleanser that is meant to both clarify and hydrate. It doesn’t strip my skin but I do need moisturizing after using it. This is a very effective and gentle cleanser that removes makeup and grim with ease. It’s the basis for getting your skin ready for more.

LINDI CITRUS FACE SERUM

Lindi Citrus Face Serum

Lindi Citrus Face Serum

The Citrus Face Serum is my very favorite of the products I am using. I’m in love with this. It’s thicker than any serum I own and it’s luxurious feeling on my skin. It was created to both soothe and revitalize skin and it does that to my skin.

I find it a little too thick to use under makeup but I adore it as my night time serum. The feel is amazing. This comes in two scents, lavender and citrus. The citrus is just a hint of a wonderful scent and dissipates quickly.

Lindi Facial Serum

Lindi Facial Serum

Here’s what Lindi says about this: “Formulated with the highest concentration of our proprietary LSA Complex ®, replete with botanicals, antioxidants and vitamins, this serum provides beneficial moisture and ultimate comfort to compromised skin on the face, neck, chest, back and scalp. The unique non-oily formula glides on silky-smooth and begins restoring immediately. The Serum has been clinically proven to reduce the facial rash, redness and itching that are a common side-effect of some types of chemotherapy.  It’s gentle soothing nutrients also make it great for anyone who wants healthy skin.”

Lindi Facial Serum

Lindi Facial Serum

I wish I was able to adequately explain how soothing and wonderful this feels on my skin. The first time I used it I was a little surprised because it felt so different than anything I’ve used. Now I never want to let it go. I use this either with my fingers or the wonderful JeNu Ultrasound Infuser and it’s made my skin smoother than ever. A+++

LINDI EYE HYDRATOR

Lindi Eye Hydrator

Lindi Eye Hydrator

I make no secret about my love for eye creams and eye treatments and Lindi Eye Hydrator is one of these loves. The Eye Hydrator too is totally different than anything I’ve tried. It comes in a small glass jar and feels and looks like silky honey. It’s not sticky at all though. It makes the area under my eyes so smooth while hydrating it too.

Lindi Eye Hydrator

Lindi Eye Hydrator

This is a nutrient rich gel that also helps with undereye puffiness and works to improve the look of your skin. What I have on my finger above it enough for 2 full days. I just need a dab of it. I use a small plastic facial spatula since I don’t want to use my fingers to get this out. I know people complain constantly about jars but this seems to be the best packaging for this silky gel. I love the effect of this and use it at least once a day.

LINDI LIP BALM

Lindi Lip Balm

Lindi Lip Balm

I wanted to hate the Lindi Lip Balm because of the packaging. I have long fingernails so I can’t easily dip into a little pot like this. But I can’t hate it and still use it every night before bed, can I? The lip balm is soft yet firm. I keep a covered lip brush right next to it so that I can slather this on before I pop into bed. Even when I wake up during the night I can feel how soft my lips feel and that it’s still working. It’s also a great cuticle cream that I like to use just before bed.

As you can see, I’m very impressed with the effects of Lindi Skin. It’s good for us and it’s even more wonderful for people with serious dry skin issues because of cancer and radiation along with a slew of other illnesses. I will continue to use the Face Serum and Eye Hydrator long after these 4 items are used up. — Marcia

8 beauty items you need to toss now! Spring Clean Refresh with Meijer Beauty

*sponsored post*

Spring CleaningTime to toss! I am gearing up for some spring cleaning and first on my list is my vanity. Clearing out feels so good…I love it when things are organized and sparkling clean. Besides, extra space means room for new things!
Does your cosmetics stash look like this??

Does your cosmetics stash look like this??

Spring cleaning isn’t just for closets and pantries – it is so important to also tackle that beauty stash. Time goes by fast and before your know it you have beauty items that are years old. Anything you use with your hands or put on your face eventually gathers bacteria and can cause breakouts and other skin issues. Items with active ingredients become inactive over time, becoming an exercise in futility. Besides, it’s fun to go through and edit your cosmetics and skin care, plus what a great opportunity to go shopping to replenish!
If you are like me, the memory fades, so when you purchase a new item mark the date on the bottom of the jar with a black sharpie. It makes spring cleaning much easier. Also, most skin care items have an open jar symbol followed by a number and the letter ‘M’.  This tells you how many months you can use the product after opening it – so 6M means six months after opening, 9M means nine months after opening, etcetera. Don’t forget, when using products packaged in jars NEVER stick your fingers in the jar. Use a small cosmetics spatula to spoon out the product so you aren’t introducing bacteria into the jar.
Here are the top 8 items that you need to toss, along with some suggestions for replacements. Meijer just announced an exciting lineup of new beauty items, so it’s a great place to shop to renew that beauty routine and you can find all of my suggestions there.
L'Oreal Revitalift Volume Filler Serum

L’Oreal Revitalift Volume Filler Serum

1.  Serum:  I am sure this is no surprise. Typically serum is in air tight packaging, which keeps ingredient integrity, but once you start using a serum it’s only good for about six months. Toss it even earlier if the texture changes or it starts to smell weird. If you need to replenish, check out L’Oreal Revitalift Volume Filler.  It is wonderfully affordable and has hyaluronic acid to plump skin and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Powder Foundation

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Powder Foundation

2.  Foundation:  obviously, liquid foundation is a bacteria collector, especially jar-based foundation that is exposed to the air. But did you know that powder foundation also goes bad? Think about it…you dip your brush into the foundation, the brush goes on your skin, then you dip that brush back onto the foundation…all those skin oils are transferred into the powder, which means after a while it becomes pretty dirty. Toss that old stuff and try something new, like L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Powder Foundation.  This is opaque enough to use as foundation, and it also works great as a pressed powder to cancel out a shiny nose.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara and Cover Girl Full Lash Bloom

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara and Cover Girl Full Lash Bloom

3.  Mascara:  this is a must-toss every season! After a while, mascara dries out and loses its lash lengthening and thickening power. Plus, any product that isn’t a solid is in danger of collecting bacteria. Glam out with your mascara and then replace it as soon as it shows any sign of dryness or starts to smell ‘off’, typically at about three months. By the way, resist ‘pumping’ your mascara – it makes it dry out even more quickly, and always toss your mascaras if you have an eye infection. Two mascaras to try for long, lush lashes are Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara and Cover Girl Full Lash Bloom.

L'Oreal Revitalift Volume Filler Moisturizer

L’Oreal Revitalift Volume Filler Moisturizer

4.  Moisturizer:  jar moisturizer lasts at the most 6 months. Go through all those open jars you know you have sitting on your shelves and toss anything you opened last fall. Not only do they become a potential hazard for your skin because of bacteria, but the active ingredients stop working so why bother? Try something new, like L’Oreal Revitalift Volume Filler Moisturizer to smooth out those lines and wrinkles.

Degree Dryspray Deodorant

Degree Dry Spray Deodorant

5.  Deodorant:  yes, deodorant does have a shelf life! While most have expiration dates, a good rule of thumb is two years. It’s a great idea to stock up on deodorant when it is on sale, but be sure to write your purchase date on the extras if they don’t have an expiration date. A great replacement is Degree Dry Spray. It sprays on dry and protects for up to 48 hours, so no worries on those hectic late mornings!

Neutrogena Cooldry Sport Sunscreen

Neutrogena Cooldry Sport Sunscreen

6.  Sunscreen:  sunscreen loses its effectiveness over time and you sure don’t want to get a sunburn thanks to an outdated bottle. Most have an expiration date, but the longest any sunscreen will last is three years. My absolute favorite and a great one for restocking is Neutrogena Cooldry Sport.  I can even get my kids to put this on without a fight.

Cover Girl Lip Lava

Cover Girl Lip Lava

7.  Lip gloss:  a liquid product you apply to your lips?  Of course lip gloss is one of the biggest offenders when it comes to beauty items that go bad and need to be replaced regularly. Replace your old lip glosses with Cover Girl Lip Lava. I adore this lip gloss!  My favorite shade is Lava-Rider. I put it on then blot and I have a beautiful shimmery stain that lasts and lasts.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser

8.  Face cleanser:  these only last a year, so often a big bottle will expire before it’s gone. If your face cleanser isn’t working well, the consequences will definitely be evident to everyone! A great option for replacing your old stuff is Neutrogena Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser. White tea and vitamin E ensure clean skin without any dryness.

Embrace spring cleaning and refresh that beauty stash! Be sure to go to Meijer Beauty to check out their new lineup of cosmetic and skin care items and restock for a beautiful YOU.  – Lisa

Revive your skin with these 4 Reviva Lab products (and enter the giveaway)

Reviva Labs

Reviva Labs

Reviva Labs has been a favorite of Beauty Info Zone for a very long time and with these newer products it not only remains a favorite but is climbing the ladder higher and higher into sainthood. We received these from the company for review and we’ve both been enjoying the difference these have made in our skin. You’ll hear about the Skin Energizing Gel and 5% Glycolic Acid Cream from Lisa while Marcia will give her side about the Nasolabial Fold Multi-peptide Cream and Elastin Serum. Then at the end you’ll be able to win one of the products reviewed.

MARCIA’S PRODUCTS:

I’ve been using the High Potency Elastin Serum ($27) for months and months. My run dried up for the months I was laid up but when I got back upstairs and into my skincare regimen again I couldn’t wait to use Elastin Serum again.

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

Our bodies contain a supply of Elastin but sadly we start to use up that supply when we’re about 25. To replenish it and the firmness of your skin, Elastin Serum comes to the rescue. You can test the elasticity of your skin with a pinch, the looser your skin is the more you need this!

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

As with all Reviva Labs products the ingredients are great. I use this all over my face and throat but it can also be used as a spot treatment on just the areas you want to see less sagging (crow’s feet, sides of lips, and under eye bags are examples). It’s recommended that you alternate this with DMAE Serum. When I pinch, I notice that my skin is firmer and more resilient than prior to use.

NASOLABIAL FOLD+ MULTI-PEPTIDE CREAM ($49.99)is a new formula and name for a prior Reviva Labs product.

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

I have to tell you that I was thrilled to get this product. As I age (yikes) the folds from the side of my nose to my mouth lines are rebelling. They tell me all the time “you aren’t as young as you think and we’re going to prove it”. It’s a horrible conversation but one I’ve calmed down from a roar to a whisper now that I have Nasolablial Fold Cream in my arsenal. I love having this thick luxurious cream to apply exactly where I need it.

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

The Nasolabial Folds are caused not only by using a lot of expression when we talk, smile, etc. but also by aging and loss of cheek fat. This cream is loaded with an advanced combination of peptides that will help soften and plump up the folds. Have they disappeared? Not yet but I’m planning on continuing with Nasolabial Fold+ Multi-Peptide Cream for as long as it takes. I want to keep those darn lines and my conversation with them at whisper level.

LISA’S PRODUCTS:

Reviva Skin Energizing Gel

Reviva Skin Energizing Gel

Skin Energizing Gel ($10):  Reviva Labs calls this ‘the gel that makes creams come true.’  Oh come on – you want this just because of the amazing tag line, don’t you?? I know I did! It has a very short ingredient list – basically algae extract and purified water – which help your regular night cream absorb more fully into the skin, improving the efficacy. This means it makes all of your skin care actually work better. So, it’s like a Wonderbra. It takes what you’ve got and makes it a little more impressive.

Reviva Skin Energizing Gel 2

At night, after cleansing and toning I smooth a little of this on before my serum and night cream. It feels good, and my products are working great. This is a pretty inexpensive way to ensure you get the most of your skin treatments.

Reviva Labs 5% Glycolic Acid Cream

Reviva Labs 5% Glycolic Acid Cream

A beautiful treatment cream that makes for beautifully clear skin

A beautiful treatment cream that makes for beautifully clear skin

5% Glycolic Acid Cream ($25) This is an awesome AHA product that exfoliates and keeps skin clear of blemishes and blackheads. It’s a great way to get your skin used to AHAs. Once this jar is gone, move up to the 10% version for even more dramatic results. What makes this treatment cream great is Reviva Labs uses full strength glycolic crystals, so it is an extremely effective AHA product. For beautifully clear skin, after cleansing and toning use the Skin Energizing Gel, then the 5% Glycolic Acid Cream, then a night moisturizer (I like their Elastin & DMAE Night Cream for Firming).

Now for the GIVEAWAY, we have an extra SKIN ENERGIZING GEL for a US or Canadian subscriber. Use the Rafflecopter to enter (be honest). This is open through Sunday January 25th at 11:59 pm EST. If WordPress gets nasty and refuses to allow comments then email us at beautyinfozone@gmail.com and continue on. Good luck and Good Skin.

Hydration = happy skin with Derma MD Replenish Hydrating Gel

Derma MD Replenish Peptide Serum

Derma MD Replenish Peptide Serum

If you have dry or ‘mature’ skin (what a nice way to put it!) then Derma MD Replenish Hydrating Gel ($139) is probably exactly what you need.  My combination skin is slowly going over to the dry side as I get older, and bitter winter cold doesn’t help at all.  Derma MD sent me this serum to test, and it has been absolutely perfect as nighttime hydration for my skin.

Just looking at this moisturizing serum makes my skin feel happier.

Just looking at this moisturizing serum makes my skin feel happier.

This is a beautiful, thick gel-like serum that leaves skin a bit tacky after application.  I like it best for evenings after cleansing and toning so it doesn’t interfere with makeup application.  The key ingredients are peptides including Matrixyl 3000 and hyaluronic acid.   There are plenty of antioxidants too, like Vitamin C, grape seed extract, and fennel seed.   I have found this serum improves the texture of my skin, making it much more smooth and soft.  It also helps tighten skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  All that hydration really plumps up the skin and gives a younger appearance.

Every night, I smooth this on over my face, neck, and decolletage, and my skin is happy, happy, happy.  If you are in the market for a truly hydrating serum that works, I definitely recommend you check out Derma MD Replenish Hydrating Gel.  Right now there is a special code for BIZ readers – enter dermamd40 to receive 40% off at checkout on their site!  – Lisa

Venox Anti-Aging Serum – worth the splurge

Venox Serum by Beverly Hills MD

Venox Serum by Beverly Hills MD

Venox Anti-Aging Serum is a product made by Beverly Hills MD. I’ve been testing it for the last month since it was sent for review. It’s the first product I put on my cleansed face and I feel like it’s making a difference in the way my skin looks. I’ve grown to really appreciate what a good serum can do for me.

Venox Serum was created by two cosmetic surgeons (hunky dudes) who strive to make people look and feel their best. While I may not be able to fly out to Beverly Hills for their services I’m happy to indulge in their products. There are 6 products in their line and Xenox Serum is the most expensive at $149. The more you buy though, the more you can save on it.

Venox Anti-Aging Serum

Venox Anti-Aging Serum

The serum has a thin consistency but it’s not watery. It sinks into my skin quickly. At first I notice a fragrance but it dissipates so quickly that I’m reluctant to even mention it. But if you are a fragrance-phobe you need to know not to worry.

Venox Anti-Aging Serum

Venox Anti-Aging Serum

The goal of the serum is to reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles and fine lines. I happily don’t have deep wrinkles but I certainly do have fine lines and I’m glad to see how this works on those. It promotes collagen production to help with smoother and younger looking skin.

Venox Serum ingredients

Venox Serum ingredients

What especially pleases me is that this is not a silicone product plus it is cruelty free.

The benefits according to Beverly Hills MD:

  • Minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces facial muscle cell contractions to target deep expression lines
  • Boosts collagen levels to increase skin elasticity
  • Gives skin a tighter, firmer look
  • Deeply hydrates skin

You can get Venox Anti-Aging Serum on their website where they have a money back guarantee. I think you’ll be pleased with the results. — Marcia

The fountain of youth? Nutriganics Drops of Youth Serum and Eye Concentrate from The Body Shop

Do you remember when you actually wanted to be older? When I was in my teens, there was no bigger compliment than someone thinking I was even one year older than my actual age. And if someone assumed I was in my twenties…now that was the ultimate! It’s certainly a different story now. I cringe at the thought of someone ‘guessing’ my age. Well, I suppose someone guessing my weight would be worse…but the age thing is definitely a bummer too.

It actually does exist!!

It actually does exist!!

The Body Shop has come a long way from its initial incarnation as a specialty body product store. Now it has a cadre of skin care items that promise a more youthful appearance. They recently sent two products from the Nutriganics line with names that would be right at home in Ponce de Leon’s shopping cart:  Drops of Youth Serum ($36) and Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate ($30).

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Serum

Drops of Youth is a serum housed in a glass jar with dropper applicator. It smooths the surface of skin, making fine lines look less noticeable.  In addition, the serum:

  • Helps enhance surface skin condition
  • Smooths skin
  • Instantly moisturizing
  • 99% of ingredients are of natural origin

There are some great ingredients that skin just loves, like aloe leaf juice plus lots of emollients and skin conditioning ingredients. However, it does contain alcohol as the second ingredient, which can be irritating to the skin, as well as fragrance. If you have sensitive skin, this may not be the fountain of youth for you.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate

The Body Shop’s answer to those pesky eye wrinkles is their Drops of Youth™ Eye Concentrate ($30), a eye serum with Edelweiss plant stem cells that smooths out wrinkles and reduces puffiness. I love the applicator, a ‘cooling’ roller ball pump that is easy to use and so soothing. This is a great eye serum that does three main things:

  • Smooths the appearance of lines around the eyes*
  • Appearance of eye bags seems reduced*
  • Eyes appear less tired*

It may not make wrinkles disappear, but it certainly feels great and makes me look younger. At my age, taking even one year off my appearance is a bonus!

You can find The Body Shop at most malls as well as online at http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/ or http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/.  – Lisa
