Reviva Labs Nourishing Cream and DMAE Firming Fluid

logo_reviva-blk

It’s no secret that the Beauty Info Zone ladies love Reviva Labs products. We are always thrilled to receive these for review and to buy more on our own. This reasonably priced skin care line hits all the right buttons. The company was started over 40 years ago and sold in skin care salons and health food stores worldwide. They are proud (as they should be) that their products are not only effective but also cruelty free. With two products that we’ve been testing, here’s our Side by Side Review.

Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid and Nourishing Cream

Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid and Nourishing Cream

MARCIA AND REVIVA LABS DMAE FIRMING FLUID

I’ve been using both of the products we’re reviewing today since they work so well together. DMAE is a thin serum so I start with this over my entire face and neck. It contains a higher potency of DMAE Concentrate which helps to firm and tone skin. I’m sure almost everyone reading this would love to help firm skin.

Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid

Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid

DMAE FIRMING FLUID ($19) contains 5% DMAE compared to the normal 1/2%- 1% in most creams and serums. Rather than try to paraphrase perfection, here’s what Reviva Labs tells us about DMAE: Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) is often called “facelift in a jar” by skin care specialists, because it helps firm and tighten the skin. With regular use DMAE will give skin a more defined, youthful appearance.
DMAE, a component of cell membranes, is also one of the substances used by the body to make the neurotransmitter molecule acetylcholine. DMAE’s firming effects are believed to involve the signaling of acetylcholine in the skin.

Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid

Reviva Labs DMAE Firming Fluid

This Firming Fluid is a great first step before the Nourishing Cream. It isn’t sticky, it sinks into my skin within a minute and then I apply Nourishing Cream over it. If you want firming and more youthful skin along with the compliments that you’ll receive on your skin tone, then here’s where you should start.

LISA AND REVIVA LABS NOURISHING CREAM

Do you want plump, smooth skin with less wrinkles? Then you want the Reviva Labs Nourishing Cream ($25). I love many Reviva products, but this is my all time favorite. The ingredient list is simply outstanding with 10 EFA (Essential Fatty Acid) oils. Here are the ten reasons you want this amazing moisturizer for your face, neck, and hands.

Reviva Labs Nourishing Cream

Reviva Labs Nourishing Cream

1.  Sunflower Oil is one of the best cosmetic ingredients out there since it has no fragrance and is a fantastic emollient and inflammation reducer.

2.  Flaxseed Oil is another star ingredient – it’s an antioxidant, emollient, and it has linoleic acid, which is excellent for skin repair.

3.  Borage Oil is another non-fragrant ingredient with linoleic acid, and is a fabulous antioxidant, emollient, and inflammation reducer.

4.  Rosehip Oil is a very emollient oil with antioxidant properties.

5.  Hemp Seed Oil is a fatty acid known for excellent emollient properties.

6.  Avocado Oil is a non-fragrant plant oil that is, you guessed it, a terrific emollient and antioxidant. Are you sensing a trend here??

7.  Wheat Germ Oil is a non-fragrant emollient oil that skin loves.

8.  Black Currant Seed Oil is one of the best antioxidant anti-inflammatories. It’s an awesome emollient for skin.

9.  Olive Oil is an emollient that contains squalene, which you may have also heard of. It also has linoleic acid and is a great antioxidant.

10.  Sesame Oil is yet another excellent emollient.

Inside Reviva Labs Nourishing Cream

Inside Reviva Labs Nourishing Cream

With ten different oils, an understandable assumption is that this must be one heavy, pore-clogging cream. Much to my delight, all of these oils are combined into a truly elegant formula – a light cream so beautiful I could almost eat it with a spoon.

EFA’s (also known as Omega-3 and Omega-6) come from plants and they restore the skin to a youthful appearance. What does youthful skin look like? Full, plump, and smooth. If I could fill a bathtub with Reviva Labs Nourishing Cream and soak my whole body in it, I would. However, I am settling for smoothing it onto my face, neck and hands. You should too!!

$5 wonder product from Reviva Labs: Eye Makeup Remover Gel

reviva eye makeupAs I was using the REVIVA LABS Eye Makeup Remover Gel last night I was thinking about stocking up on it. I received this one when I mentioned I wanted to try it and now that I have it I want more! What I didn’t know until I started writing this review is that this is only $5. The price only enhances my feelings for how great this gem is.

Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel

Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel

What makes this eye makeup remover different is that it’s a gel. Most removers I’ve tried are either pads or duo phase liquids. I even did a Makeup Wars post on my favorite remover. Mary Kay won that and I still like it and will continue to use it. But Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel has moved up the ladder and is tied with Mary Kay.

This remover contains Cornflower Extract, Allantoin, Camomile, and Eyebright Extract and is very gentle on my eyes. This gel is moisturizing and not the least bit oily. I feel like my eyes are more conditioned after using this. There’s no residue left either.

Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel

Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel

This 2 oz plastic bottle will travel well, I’ll put it in a small ziploc bag and maybe put a piece of tape over the opening. I can carry it on or put it in my luggage knowing I’ll have a comforting gel wherever I go.

Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel

Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel

There are two things that make Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel a standout product for me. First is that it never stings and never bothers my eyes. Second is that this is the only eye makeup remover that dissolves heavy duty mascara like Maybelline Lash Sensation. I was having a heck of a time removing the Maybelline so even though I loved the look, I was reluctant to wear it too often. And then came Reviva Labs Eye Makeup Remover Gel. Now it removes so easily that I can continue wearing the mascara without worrying about losing lashes.

One of the blogs I follow is written by Olivia, The Unknown Beauty Blog, and she’s got a great use for this that I never would have thought of – she uses it as a mixing medium for pigments. I think that’s why I wanted to try this so much. Definitely read her review and learn more.

Then get to Reviva Labs or one of the natural food/product stores that carries this great line and put down your $5. You won’t be sorry. — Marcia

Reviva Labs

Reviva Labs

Reviva Labs has been a favorite of Beauty Info Zone for a very long time and with these newer products it not only remains a favorite but is climbing the ladder higher and higher into sainthood. We received these from the company for review and we’ve both been enjoying the difference these have made in our skin. You’ll hear about the Skin Energizing Gel and 5% Glycolic Acid Cream from Lisa while Marcia will give her side about the Nasolabial Fold Multi-peptide Cream and Elastin Serum. Then at the end you’ll be able to win one of the products reviewed.

MARCIA’S PRODUCTS:

I’ve been using the High Potency Elastin Serum ($27) for months and months. My run dried up for the months I was laid up but when I got back upstairs and into my skincare regimen again I couldn’t wait to use Elastin Serum again.

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

Our bodies contain a supply of Elastin but sadly we start to use up that supply when we’re about 25. To replenish it and the firmness of your skin, Elastin Serum comes to the rescue. You can test the elasticity of your skin with a pinch, the looser your skin is the more you need this!

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

High Potency Elastin Serum from Reviva Labs

As with all Reviva Labs products the ingredients are great. I use this all over my face and throat but it can also be used as a spot treatment on just the areas you want to see less sagging (crow’s feet, sides of lips, and under eye bags are examples). It’s recommended that you alternate this with DMAE Serum. When I pinch, I notice that my skin is firmer and more resilient than prior to use.

NASOLABIAL FOLD+ MULTI-PEPTIDE CREAM ($49.99)is a new formula and name for a prior Reviva Labs product.

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

I have to tell you that I was thrilled to get this product. As I age (yikes) the folds from the side of my nose to my mouth lines are rebelling. They tell me all the time “you aren’t as young as you think and we’re going to prove it”. It’s a horrible conversation but one I’ve calmed down from a roar to a whisper now that I have Nasolablial Fold Cream in my arsenal. I love having this thick luxurious cream to apply exactly where I need it.

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

Reviva Labs Nasolabial Fold Multi-Peptide Cream

The Nasolabial Folds are caused not only by using a lot of expression when we talk, smile, etc. but also by aging and loss of cheek fat. This cream is loaded with an advanced combination of peptides that will help soften and plump up the folds. Have they disappeared? Not yet but I’m planning on continuing with Nasolabial Fold+ Multi-Peptide Cream for as long as it takes. I want to keep those darn lines and my conversation with them at whisper level.

LISA’S PRODUCTS:

Reviva Skin Energizing Gel

Reviva Skin Energizing Gel

Skin Energizing Gel ($10):  Reviva Labs calls this ‘the gel that makes creams come true.’  Oh come on – you want this just because of the amazing tag line, don’t you?? I know I did! It has a very short ingredient list – basically algae extract and purified water – which help your regular night cream absorb more fully into the skin, improving the efficacy. This means it makes all of your skin care actually work better. So, it’s like a Wonderbra. It takes what you’ve got and makes it a little more impressive.

Reviva Skin Energizing Gel 2

At night, after cleansing and toning I smooth a little of this on before my serum and night cream. It feels good, and my products are working great. This is a pretty inexpensive way to ensure you get the most of your skin treatments.

Reviva Labs 5% Glycolic Acid Cream

Reviva Labs 5% Glycolic Acid Cream

A beautiful treatment cream that makes for beautifully clear skin

A beautiful treatment cream that makes for beautifully clear skin

5% Glycolic Acid Cream ($25) This is an awesome AHA product that exfoliates and keeps skin clear of blemishes and blackheads. It’s a great way to get your skin used to AHAs. Once this jar is gone, move up to the 10% version for even more dramatic results. What makes this treatment cream great is Reviva Labs uses full strength glycolic crystals, so it is an extremely effective AHA product. For beautifully clear skin, after cleansing and toning use the Skin Energizing Gel, then the 5% Glycolic Acid Cream, then a night moisturizer (I like their Elastin & DMAE Night Cream for Firming).

Now for the GIVEAWAY, we have an extra SKIN ENERGIZING GEL for a US or Canadian subscriber. Use the Rafflecopter to enter (be honest). This is open through Sunday January 25th at 11:59 pm EST. If WordPress gets nasty and refuses to allow comments then email us at beautyinfozone@gmail.com and continue on. Good luck and Good Skin.

Lisa’s new and improved top ten primers list

I wrote my original ‘Top ten primers‘ post back in 2010, a few years after my primer obsession began. Finding an excellent primer was life-altering for me because for the very first time my makeup actually lasted all day.  I’ve always had strange skin, products don’t last long on me at all – I put blush on and an hour later, it’s completely gone.  For a long time I thought there was nothing I could do about it – until I found a primer that actually made my makeup (and most happily my blush) last a whole day.  I think I bought every primer on the market for the next few years after that. I have owned and used so many different primers I am ashamed to put a number on it.

Lisas top ten primersThis list is a long overdue update of my personal choices for the top ten primers – each one is unique, they all have their advantages, and they are all excellent.  Which primer I choose is determined by the condition of my skin that day, my skin tone, and the foundation I am going to use. (A side note – I was astounded by the price increases when I updated them!)

My top ten list is not in any particular order – these are my top favorites, but they are all equal in terms of play time they get.

Kevyn Aucoin The Primed Skin Developer

Kevyn Aucoin The Primed Skin Developer

1.  Kevyn Aucoin The Primed Skin Developer ($68)

The earlier version, called The Sensual Skin Primer, was actually the primer that began my obsession.  I used it one day and could not believe how vibrant and fresh my makeup was 10 hours later. The new version is even better – I use the Normal to Oily one.  The texture has slip but it doesn’t feel extremely silicone heavy.  It dries quickly to a satin finish.  It keeps makeup on like no other.  There are some drawbacks, though – it is an expensive item, so expensive that it hurts to buy it.  I tend to use this on special occasions only to try to make it last as long as possible.  And while I love the hygienic pump bottle, it drives me crazy that I never know how much I have left.  Regardless, I will never be without a bottle – and a back up.

Grand Central Beauty Skin Perfecting Primer

2.  Grand Central Beauty S.M.A.R.T. Skin Perfecting SERUM+PRIMER ($68)

I like to say that the only time I have ever been wrong was that one time I thought I made a mistake.  Unfortunately, in reality I have been wrong on a few more occasions than that…and I was completely wrong about the S.M.A.R.T. Skin Perfecting SERUM+PRIMER.  While it has a slew of cool ingredients, including squalane from brazilian sugar cane, apple, watermelon, lentil, rice and soybean protein, I initially thought it worked better as a serum than a primer…totally incorrect.  This is a kick ass primer.  It keeps makeup looking totally perfect for 12 hours.  Every time I use it I think, “How could I have been so wrong??”

Reviva Labs Makeup Primer

Reviva Labs Makeup Primer

3.  Reviva Labs Makeup Primer ($19.50) This is absolutely one of my favorite primers of all time.  It has silicone, but it isn’t super thick.  I find that it works best if I apply the primer and then let it sit for about three minutes.  It has a slightly wet texture at first that will collide with your concealer and foundation application. If you wait a few minutes it dries down to a beautiful finish that helps concealer and foundation apply and wear perfectly.  It does everything a primer should do:  makes skin super smooth, allows even application of concealer and foundation, and increases longevity.

Pur Minerals green_primer

4.  Pur Minerals Colour Correcting Foundation Primer in Green ($31):

This is the primer I reach for when I’m broken out.  The green color balances out redness from acne, broken capillaries, and rosacea.  It doesn’t make me look like an alien – the green transforms into a beautiful, even skin tone color.  Less is more with this primer. You don’t need much to neutralize redness and create a perfect canvas for foundation.

OCC Skin Primer

5.  OCC Skin Primer ($27.50):This is a really cool primer.  Not only is it great for the face, but you can also use it as a lid primer for mineral eyeshadows.  It’s unlike most primers.  You HAVE to shake the bottle before squeezing some out – and then be careful when you do, because it has a thin, liquid consistency.  Once applied, wait until it dries because it applies quite wet, but does dry down to a super smooth, satiny finish.  And boy does makeup stick to this stuff!

Paul and Joe Protecting Foundation Primer

6.  Paul and Joe Protective Foundation Primer ($32)

This is, by far, the strangest primer I have ever used.  And I love it.  It has an SPF of 30.  It’s also super watery – it must be properly shaken before squeezing the product out.   It has a very thin consistency that dries down to a satiny finish.  It also has super fine, really tiny microshimmers in it, which gives skin the best natural looking glow.  The primer looks really yellow, but it goes on colorless – aside from the glow.  Makeup lasts and lasts with this primer.  I find that I reach for it when I am using very matte, oil-inhibiting foundations like Clarins Truly Matte Foundation because the microshimmers counteract the flatness.

Cle de Peau Correcting Cream Veil

7.  Cle de Peau Correcting Cream Veil ($76)

I have a love-hate relationship with Cle de Peau.  Some products I adore and will buy despite the exorbitant price tag.  Other products I can’t stand, and I get offended at the price of items that do absolutely nothing for you.  This primer, however, is well worth the price.  At the same time, I get the sample sizes at the counter when I can…they are great for travel and give several weeks of use. This primer is a thick, creamy lotion.  You don’t need a lot of it – a little goes a very long way.  In fact, if you use too much you will get a distinctly white cast to your skin.  Use the right amount and it sinks into your skin nicely, leaving no white or greyish cast.  Skin is super smooth, lines are filled in, and makeup goes on beautifully and lasts all day.  Pores look smaller and it lessens oil production throughout the day.  Get a sample at the counter before investing, but I’ll bet once you try it, you’ll want the full size version.  I love this under cream foundation.

IT Cosmetics Feel the Moment Primer

8.  IT Cosmetics Feel the Moment Anti-Aging Primer Serum ($38)

The Feel the Moment Anti-Aging Primer Serum is a thick, super hydrating primer that makes skin baby smooth.  Ingredients include caviar extract, hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, hyaluronic acid, vitamins A, E, and C, argan and jojoba oils, and avocado.  The serum is in glass jar with a dropper,  and two drops is more than enough to prime and hydrate.  It goes on slightly tacky then dries down to create a perfect canvas for makeup. This is just what I need for perfect makeup when I have dry skin.  I have gone through two bottles of this and am halfway through my third!

Algenist Pore Corrector Anti Aging Primer

9.  Algenist Pore Corrector Anti-Aging Primer ($42)

This primer comes in an opaque airless pump which keeps the product integrity and effectiveness safe and sound.  It does everything a great primer should do – it reduces the look of pores, creates a satin finish for easy makeup application, and it keeps that makeup in place and reduces fading throughout the day.

Ingredients include Alguronic Acid, which ramps up the anti-aging quotient. I am thrilled that over time it actually improves my skin – but I am even more thrilled with the immediate results of perfectly primed skin. And, of course, not looking like a sad clown with melted makeup at the end of the day is a huge plus!! The Pore Corrector Anti-Aging Primer has a beautifully lightweight texture that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. While liquidy, it dries quickly and truly makes that beautiful canvas you need to happily play with all the rest of your cosmetics art supplies.

Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy

10.  Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy ($7)  So this is a bit of a cheat…it’s not a face primer, but it is such a fantastic eye primer I had to put it on the list.  If you like pigment eyeshadows, you need this.  If you have oily lids, you need this.  Heck, it’s only seven bucks…try it out!  A tiny dab makes eyeshadow not only cling to your lids for dear life, it also brings out a vibrancy you never knew the eyeshadow had in the first place.  I think of my Pixie Epoxy as liquid gold.

The biggest difference I notice between my original list from five years ago and the one I have now (beside the price increases!) is the addition of primer/serums.  Primers don’t just prime anymore, they also treat the skin.  Most people probably only need or want one, maybe two different primers.  I happen to be just a *little* obsessive about makeup, so my collection is extreme – but if you are looking for a primer, I am sure you can find something perfect for your needs on this list.

Ok ladies, what is your favorite primer?  Is there another amazing primer out there that I just have to try??  There’s always room for one more!  – Lisa

It’s December and we are all about giveaways this month. We know you are off spending money on everyone you know from the mail carrier and your kid’s teachers to the loved ones in your life. We want to make your life a little happier with these giveaways.

Our newest is from Reviva Labs so that you can start your skin off in a grand way in 2014. There will be 3 winners but only one grand prize.

The grand prize….

Reviva Labs TGF beta-1 Cream

Reviva Labs TGF beta-1 Cream

We love Reviva Labs for many reasons

– they are cruelty free

– they use all natural ingredients

– the products are terrific for your skin

– the prices are very reasonable

TGF Beta-1 Cream is a cream that stands for “Tissue Growth Factor”. This cream can be used with your current skincare a light moisturizer. The recommendation is to use it for two weeks, then take a two week break from it, continue for two weeks and so on. This cream was recently renamed COLLAGEN REGENERATION CREAM but it’s the same product.

Here’s the information from Reviva Labs: “In the future, you’ll hear more about Growth Factor TGF beta-1. Stimulated by a special new peptide and partnered with our new marine/plant compound (called Homeostatine), it has proven to increase collagen synthesis by 119%, as well as improve skin structure.

But there’s more! We’ve added Coconut Endosperm to help new cells emerge more uniform, plus Soy, CoQ-10 and Squalene’s marine fatty acids.

All this not only means an unprecedented level of wrinkle reduction but a cream that can help repair and restructure aging skin so that it looks smoother, more moist, resilient, healthier…and younger. Use new TGF Cream over serums, gels or glycolic cream or under our Alpha Lipoic or other creams.”

For more information you can read Moxie Reviews review of this cream.

Besides the TGG beta-1 Cream the grand prize winner will receive Reviva Labs wonderful Vitamin E stick.

Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick

Reviva Labs Vitamin E Stick

The Vitamin E Stick is something you want to own in multiples actually. It’s wonderful for any kind of chapping in my opinion. My hands get very chapped and rough so keeping one in my purse helps me when I notice that starting up again. It’s terrific for chapped lips and as an easy eye balm. It’s all around great. — Marcia

The “grand prize” is open for US subscribers only. But the next two prizes are open internationally. Those winners will each receive 2 of the Vitamin E sticks.
This giveaway is open through 12/16/13 at 11:59 p.m EST.

Makeup Wars: Cruelty Free Favorites

 photo cruelty-free-drugstore-makeup.jpg

It’s always fun to write a Makeup Wars post like this since it gives me a chance to really think about what I have and what I’d say are favorites. Truthfully I have a lot more products than you have the patience for so I picked 9 items that I’d buy again and again. Several of these were samples (*) but knowing that I will buy them myself led them to be the chosen ones.
1. Too Faced Boudoir Eyes palette – naturally I have all the pictures done and no time to write about this but this is a favorite and will be reviewed soon. Too Faced is known to be cruelty free and their eyeshadow palettes are beautiful. Their palettes are $36 which is great for 9 shadows.
2. Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cheek Cream Blush* – ooh la la! I have both shades of the blush duos and I can’t stop wearing them. There’s a beautiful bright cool toned pink called Mr. Pink and a fabulous pinky coral called Coral Cameo. I could never pick a favorite since they are both out of this world, long lasting and of course cruelty free.
3. Tarte Smooth Operator Concealer* – I love tarte concealers. I truly love them. I recommend them to people all the time. They have a lot of formulas so it’s easy to find one that fits your needs. Smooth Operator Concealer is my new favorite from tarte. I still use my others but this one sort of pushes them out of the way. It’s creamy, not messy, and like all tarte is cruelty free.
4. Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Foundation – the last few months I’ve been using mostly BB and CC creams but the minute the weather cooled down a little this is the foundation I took out. I apply it with their Good Karma Optical Illusion Brush and the finish is wonderful. There are so many shades of this that you really need to go in and get matched for it, once you have it though you won’t want to put it down.
5. Bootie Babe Nail Polish* – I’m c-c-crazy about my Bootie Babe! Not only are the bottles the cutest thing this side of Miley Cyrus but the polishes are beautiful and last. This is not the last time you’ll be hearing about Bootie Babe from me!
6. Beauty Blender Sponge – I’ve been using the Beauty Blender sponge for years and years. It’s affectionately known as the Pink Egg around here. Even my 2 year old grandson is fascinated with the Beauty Blender Sponge and is always taking it off my vanity or asking for it. He may think it’s a fun toy but I think it’s great for blending my foundations.
7. DermOrganic hair care* – I love trying new hair care (though not as much as my blog partner Lisa) but you always need a staple to come back to and DermOrganic has made that cut. This argan infused line leaves my hair shiny and easier to manage.
8. It Cosmetics brushes – I don’t own this set but it was a great way to show you several of the It Cosmetics brushes together plus it’s a great buy on QVC. The It Cosmetic brushes are superior cruelty free brushes and every one I have is a delight. The good news is that you’re able to buy It Cosmetics at Ulta now too so you’ll have several places to find this amazing line.
9. Reviva Labs Hyaluronic Acid Serum* – actually I could have picked one of a dozen Reviva Labs products since they are all wonderful. I’m totally in love with their Makeup Primer, Anti-Irritant Gel, Vitamin E stick and this Hyaluronic Acid Serum. I wanted to include some skincare in this post and Reviva Labs jumped to the forefront. You can’t go wrong with this cruelty free well priced line.
Thanks so much for reading about some of my favorite products. Beauty Info Zone isn’t a cruelty free blog but we appreciate products that are and try to mention that in our reviews. There are wonderful CF brands as you can see. Which of these have you tried? — Marcia

Makeup Wars 2013 Beauty Resolutions

Makeup Wars is back for 2013’s first edition which of course is New Year’s Resolutions. While it may sound a tiny bit trite you know darn well that this group of amazing beauty bloggers are all going to have their own spin on things.

I’ve made several resolutions that are all beauty related. I know that the diet and exercise things are beauty resolutions but have you ever compared a Weight Watchers meeting or the gym on January 4th and February 4th? It’s like you are on different planets. Instead I tried to make resolutions that I’ve got a good chance of following through on.

Resolution one is one I began as soon as I started making my list for this post – TAKE CARE OF MY LIPS. I’m terrible about remembering to use all the potions I have to keep my lips looking younger and moister. I start with good intentions but I don’t always remember. So I’ve lined up what I need in my bathrooms.

In my master bathroom I’ve been using Elizabeth Grant Collagen Tinted Lip Restore*. While I’ve only tried the Lip Restore I’m amazed by the fact that you can get 4 glosses and this for $15! Collagen Tinted Lip Restore helps to redefine the lip line and create softer, smoother younger-looking lips, with just a hint of colour and sheen. It contains Torricelumn and Collagen to help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is very lightly tinted – I find it’s like a “my lips but better” flush. I apply it as soon as I start getting ready and later apply lip color. When I go into that bathroom I like to add some more if my lips are color free.

In my extra bath (where I clean up at night) I’ve been using Lush’s Popcorn Lip Scrub*. This is a very dry lip scrub that I like to use in the evening to exfoliate my lips. It’s a little bit sugar and a little bit salt. I rub it on with my finger, scrub around and lick it off. I try to do this before I wash up though since I end up with some of the scrub on my face. It smells just like freshly popped popcorn. I LOVE popcorn and this is a calorie free treat for me! It doesn’t scratch like some exfoliators do. Plus it’s starting to keep my lips looking better and less chapped.lush popcorn scrub

I follow up with Reviva Labs Vitamin E stick as my nighttime lip moisturizer. This inexpensive stick of delight is only $4 and can be used on eyes and lips, day or night. It even has SPF 15. The reason I chose this to use at night especially is that it’s not fragranced so it won’t keep me up sniffing. Fragrance is fine during the day but not for me at night. Plus I can rub a little on dry spots on my face if I’m tossing and turning and need something to do.

Reviva Labs Vitamin E stick

Resolution two has to do with that extra bathroom. I need to start getting ready earlier in the evening. For some reason I wait until it’s time to go to bed and then I remove my makeup and put on my skincare. I need to change that. I sometimes get too tired to actually wash even though I have awesome cleansers. Instead I’ll use facial wipes like the Aveeno Ultra Calming Makeup Wipes*.I then follow up with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner. That’s okay once in a while but I’m doing it too often. I’ll still keep using the Kiehl’s Toner but my resolution is to start early and then go on the computer!kiehls toner

Resolution threestop plucking chin hairs!! I’m trying really really hard, honest I am. But it’s so hard to resist. I’m made one step forward though and that’s not to keep my Tweezerman tweezers (pretty as it is) on my computer desk. I’ve paid for laser hair removal and I’ve got sessions left but I can’t go until I stop plucking. This one is really going to be hard to keep.

Cynthia Rowley for Tweezerman

Resolution four is to stop buying the same color eyeshadows over and over and over again. I’m in a rut but I see those beautiful taupes and browns and I can’t imagine not owning them. I ended 2012 buying a few like this beautiful Edward Bess palette. That needs to be the end. So far I’ve made it a whole week into 2013 without buying any though. I have to stop thinking they’ll change my life since I know the only one who sees the difference is me.

I’ve made a little progress, especially on resolution one. Now only 75% left to work on. Are any of these resolutions of yours or even close?? — Marcia
