PÜR Cosmetics

PUR Cosmetics has everything you need to make your special evenings out more beautiful. One of my new favorites (sent for review) is their EYE POLISH. This double duty product is just what the doctor ordered for a night out.

Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Champagne and Satin

Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish in Champagne and Satin

Pur Cosmetics Eye Polish comes in 6 beautiful shades that can be used as a crease proof eyeshadow primer or alone as an iridescent lightweight cream eyeshadow. I have two shades, Cashmere and Satin, and love the unusual texture of them.

Pur Cosmetics Cashmere Eye Polish packaging

Pur Cosmetics Cashmere Eye Polish packaging

Let’s start with the packaging –  this is a midsize short jar with the top of the jars being colors that match the color within. Open it and you’ll find a mesh covering for the liquid eyeshadow polish. Shake and press down with your finger or a brush to pick up the color. You’ll feel a coolness to the shadow at first. These dry down quickly but not instantly. There’s enough time for you to pat it on your lid in the intensity you want before it dries down totally. They come with a small silicone applicator (which I didn’t receive) that helps pick up the shadows easily and makes application easy.

The 6 shades are

  • Satin – Sheer Crystal Pink
  • Suede – Earthy Seductive Neutral
  • Cashmere – Shimmery Champagne
  • Silk – Prism Copper
  • Velvet – Plush Amethyst
  • Caviar – Lavish Black with Gold Karat Flecks

Satin is the brighter of the two I have and the more iridescent. Satin has a pink cast to it but I wouldn’t call it a true pink. It’s light enough and bright enough to create shine that stands out. I like using it with Pur’s Secret Crush Palette (reviewed here) with the cooler shades. Champagne is more golden and not quite as shiny. It’s just gorgeous with neutrals and browns/bronzes. Both appear shimmery yet they stay in place. You won’t get glitter on your face with these.

These are incredible products and I can’t wait to pick up Caviar to see how the darker shades look. I know they wear beautifully. No extra primer is needed since Eye Polish has it all. — Marcia

Did you ever have a secret crush? Pur Cosmetics has the best Secret Crush for adults

Pur Minerals Secret Crush Eye Shadow Palette

Pur Minerals Secret Crush Eye Shadow Palette

What are your memories of your secret crushes? When I received Pur Cosmetics Secret Crush Eye Shadow Palette for review my memories came back in full force. Back in high school I had a crush on several boys but one in particular was on my mind all the time. He was a year or two ahead of me and he didn’t know I existed. I made it a point to walk by his classes and his locker all the time but I doubt he ever saw me. My crush finally dissipated after he graduated and I found someone else to crush on. Two years ago I went to a reunion and there he was! My sister knew who he was and told me to turn around. OMG, my heart was pounding.  But what I saw was a balding man with a gut too big for his frame. Crush truly dissipated and gone forever.

It’s been replaced with the gorgeous Pur Cosmetics Secret Crush Eye Shadow Palette now and I’m finally being noticed! This palette is like a crush come true. 8 beautiful shadows with 4 of them being metallics. My secret is out and I’m in love.

Pur Secret Crush Eye Shadow Palette

Pur Secret Crush Eye Shadow Palette

The 8 shadows range from matte to a light almost invisible shimmer to metallic hues. The matte shades are good but not exceptional since they don’t have an even pigmentation to them. But I’ve never been a huge fan of matte so I may not be the best to judge. What does stand out though are the metallic hues since they are outstandingly pigmented and long lasting. They are not to be missed.

From left:

*Whisper an ivory shade with just the smallest amount of shimmer to it. The shimmer doesn’t have fall out though, it just gives this ivory shade some interest, especially on the browbone.

* Lust has a slight pink undertone and a matte finish

* Passion is a stunner especially if you love rose gold. This is probably the shiniest of the metallics

* Muse is a chocolate brown that’s shimmery but not sparkly, it is close to metallic but not quite

Whisper, Lust, Passion and Muse

Whisper, Lust, Passion and Muse

* Infatuation has a metallic finish and is warm bronze

* Admirer is another metallic and this one is more of a neutral brown

* Rendezvous is a matte that is a neutral to cool brown

* Rumor is a charcoal with a matte finish

Rumor, Rendevous, Admirer, and Infatuation

Rumor, Rendezvous, Admirer, and Infatuation

I’ve been wearing Secret Crush several days a week because there are so many possible combinations. Today for example I wore Muse on my lid with Lust on the browbone. We went out for dinner so I added Rumor to create a cat eye and smudged it over my Pur Minerals Double Ego eyeliner in Tasmania. Saturday night we went out with a group and I got to get dressed up for a change. My EOTD consisted of the stunning and sparkly Pur Eye Polish in Satin (light pink) with Admirer in the crease and some of the matte Rendevous blended into the outer corner. I felt terrific in the combination.

brush in the Pur Secret Crush eyeshadow palette

brush in the Pur Secret Crush eyeshadow palette

I have to mention the brush in this palette since it’s surprisingly nice. I rarely even remember that an applicator has come in a palette since I’ve never counted on them before. But this brush is not only usable but one that you’d use often. It’s wider than most palette brushes and applies the shadows evenly plus it’s great for blending. A definite asset.

The shadows in Pur Secret Crush last so well on me. I love that I have no fallout when I apply these and that they make it throughout an entire day (with an eye primer of course) without fading. Plus the sturdy palette is perfect for traveling.

Even if you’ve never had a secret crush, you still have time to have one with Pur. I won’t tell what’s making you look so great but I’ll know. — Marcia

Makeup Wars perks up your eyes

MAKEUP WARS is all about eyes today, expanding from the typical to the somewhat atypical. Ways to perk up your eye makeup can be as simple or bold as wearing a colorful mascara as well as changing up your eyeliner from your typical black or dark brown. I’ve chosen my favorite colorful eyeliners to share with you since a day without eyeliner for me is a day my eyes disappear.

STILA GOT INKED CUSHION EYE LINER is my new favorite eyeliner. Yes I do play favorites and right now the play is with these very cool cushion eye liners. This is a liquid eyeliner unlike any you’ve used. It comes in a pot with the liquid under a cushion top. Use your favorite brush (I prefer a very thin one) and press it onto the webbed sponge top and you’ve got your color. Stila compares it to using a calligraphy pen that you dip into the sponge. These don’t seem like they’ll spill. I first bought it in Smoky Quartz Ink and after using it twice I knew I needed another so along came Copper Ink. Both are within my comfort zone but on the edge of it. You can go thick or thin, you can draw cat eyes, you can do anything your heart desires and the color will last. It comes in 6 shades (Black Obsidian, Amethyst, Blue Sapphire, Garnet plus Smoky Quartz and Copper).

Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liners

Stila Got Inked Cushion Eye Liners

Smoky Quartz Ink is a pewter taupe that is metallic and will take on the colors of your eye makeup depending on the light. While there’s no glitter in it, it looks that way because of the high shine. When I wear this with a gold and khaki combination it seems to pick up that khaki undertone. Copper Ink isn’t quite as metallic but it’s far from flat. It’s stunning with a variety of browns but when it really looks unique is wearing it with eyeshadow in the navy family. Copper Ink is making me shop my stash for new looks.

I’m a huge fan of liquid eyeliners but they are not all created equal. The length and sturdiness of the brush are the keys for me finding the ones I love. While I don’t wear pencil eyeliners that often I’ve found that Pur Minerals (now Pur Cosmetics) has a combination that has the best of both worlds. DOUBLE EGO EYELINERS are liquid on one end and pencil on the other end. Use separately or combine for great looks.

Pur Minerals Double Ego liners

Look at those colors! Milan (inky black), Tasmania (dark chocolate), Madagascar (black gold), Bora Bora (royal blue), Swiss Alps (cool pewter), Rio de Janeiro (deep plum), Bali (emerald green), and Queensland (aquatic teal). While I mostly wear Tasmania I’ve been known to wear Swiss Alps (pewter) and Rio de Janiero (plum) to shake it up a bit. These are amazing eyeliners.

Last but far from least on my list are the YOUNGBLOOD EYE-MAZING LIQUID EYELINER PENS. These are available in 5 shades that are beautiful and go beyond black. The brush is what makes these so wonderful. For me they glide on and last, rarely going astray. I’ve bought backups of Marron since it’s an amazing brown eyeliner. Gris (soft grey) and Verde (dark forest green) are unique to my eyeliner collection.

Your fall lips want Pur Minerals Lip Lure – they really do!

There’s never a bad time to buy a new lipstick but fall is the absolutely perfect time for it. There’s something about the sun going down earlier and earlier, the air becoming brisk, the temperatures dropping, and the leaves turning that makes you realize a new season is truly upon us. Besides changing our clothing, we suddenly feel the need to change our makeup – especially our lips.

For me the perfect solution is Pur Minerals Lip Lure. I wrote about these in Top Ten Tuesday since they are my favorite lip product that I’ve tried for fall. Typically I like light shades but with the crispness in the air I’m suddenly craving real color. Just take a look at these swatches:

Pur Minerals Lip Lure in Belle, Graceful, and Fancy

Pur Minerals Lip Lure in Belle, Graceful, and Fancy

I was sent 3 of Pur Minerals Lip Lures in Belle, Graceful and Fancy and there’s something very special about them. While the current trend is to wear matte lipsticks, I don’t feel they are flattering to everyone. I have small lips that are lined and very few matte lipsticks look good on me. PUR MINERALS LIP LURE are a hydrating lip lacquer that not only looks good on my lips but feels good on them too. While they start out shiny they do dry down to an almost matte finish. Adding a clear or light lipgloss over them brings back any shine lost.

Pur Minerals Lip Lure

There are 5 shades of Lip Lure and all are perfect for the season ($22 each): Fiery  http://www.purminerals.com/assets/3/product_variant_images/1470/thumb/Lip-Lure-Fiery-Swatch-72dpi.jpgBelle http://www.purminerals.com/assets/3/product_variant_images/1471/thumb/Lip-Lure-Belle-Swatch-72dpi.jpg, Fiery , Graceful , and Mystic .

You start with a flocked sponge applicator that applies the lip lacquer evenly and softly. It takes a few clicks to get the color flowing. I don’t find that I need to use that much of the lip color to get the desired effect.

GRACEFUL is the softest shade of the 5. It’s a nude that has enough color to give your lips some life.  This is the shade I’ve gotten the most compliments on.

BELLE is an ultra creamy soft peachy mauve shade on me. I know that sounds like a weird combination but I see both shades when I wear it. It’s not warm and it’s not a cool shade so it must be a neutral shade! Pur calls this a “natural beige with a hint of romance” but I only see the romance, I don’t see the beige.

FANCY is described as a lustrous mauve but it’s redder on me than a typical mauve.

The two other shades are Fiery described as a fierce siren and Mystic described as a ripe blackberry with a hint of raspberry. No lip product lasts on me for long but these last longer than most. Plus they leave a subtle stain behind so that it looks like I have some color left. They really are richly pigmented. More to love about these lovely hydrating Lip Lures is that there’s no scent or taste. Plus Pur Minerals is cruelty-free.

If it’s time to switch to fall shades (and you know it is) you need to consider Pur Minerals Lip Lure to give your life a little extra beauty. Which color is your favorite? — Marcia

Top 10 Fall lips

Favorite Fall lips

Favorite Fall lips

The calendar tells us that it’s Fall. It’s a mixed blessing in many ways. Pumpkin Spice lovers will be thrilled with the amount of products that are now available. Cider Mills are open with that delicious fresh cider and tantalizing doughnuts. The leaves are starting to change and the colors will be spectacular. We’ll try to ignore how dark it is by 7:30 p.m. and that we need shorts in the day and a parka at night. But what we won’t ignore is the chance to change your lipstick wardrobe. Top Ten Tuesday is here to give you some suggestions of some lips to wear.

My personal favorites are the new PUR MINERALS LIP LURE LIQUID LIPSTICKS *. I have three of the five available and they are perfect for this time of year. These are very pigmented and the colors last for a long time. They are bucking the trend of matte (which is fine for me), instead saturating your lips with color while leaving them feel moisturized. Another brand of lipstick that is new in my life is SLEEK MAKEUP, TRUE COLOR LIPSTICK *. These lipsticks come in either Sheen or Matte finishes for just $7.49. They are extremely creamy and feel great on my lips. Happily they are fragrance free. When you look these up on Sleek’s website they describe the lipsticks as well as give suggestions for which eyeshadow palette and blush would look great with them. More to come on Sleek MakeUP soon!

I like Nude lipsticks and find that there can be a difference between a summer nude and a fall nude. We all have different interpretations of nude and mine is a light shade but with fall I’ll go deeper. Three of my favorite nudes are Sleek MakeUP Succumb, Tom Ford Sable Smoke, and Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink.

Sleek Succumb is a brownish nude with pink undertones that looks much more pink on me than my swatch. Tom Ford Sable Smoke is a creamy peachy brown that’s not dark and can look different depending on which lipliner I use. Charlotte Tilbury Penelope Pink is the pinkest of the bunch but it’s not pink.

Dark lips aren’t easy for me to comfortably wear but I do love having some for those special times when I need to look more grown up. You never know when a plum, red, or brown red lipstick is going to up your game. Here are the ones in my collection:

VOTRE VU TATIANA * is a tomato red that I apply with a lip brush to get a softer look. SLEEK CHERRY is a deep vampy red. MELANIE MILLS GLEAM * in Unstoppable is a bright cherry red (photo doesn’t share the true red of this beauty. RIMMEL PROVOCALIPS * in PLAY WITH FIRE is a two sided liquid lipstick that’s a long wearing formula. It’s a beautiful true dark red with a clear sparkly gloss on the opposite end. PIXI BEAUTY MATTELUSTRE PLUM BERRY * is a hybrid of matte and lustre. This is a plummy red that doesn’t show lip lines like a true matte does.

Pur Minerals gives twice the pleasure with Double Ego eyeliners and a giveaway

PUR Minerals Double Ego Dual Ended Eyeliners

PUR Minerals Double Ego Dual Ended Eyeliners

Double your pleasure with double sided eyeliners from PUR Minerals! I’m one who is more than doubling my pleasure with Pür Minerals’ 2-in-1 Double Ego Dual Ended Eye Liner since I’ve been using them all the time ever since I received these. I never go without eyeliner, never! Therefore having 8 pen/pencils and 16 colors makes for one happy blogger.

Pür Minerals Double Ego liners are available at ULTA and Ulta.com for $21 each. Like I said there are eight beautiful shades and those shades can be mixed and matched plus you can use them to create other shades. It’s like having 24 shades if I played my cards right.

Pur Minerals Double Ego liners

Pur Minerals Double Ego liners

The available shades will take you on a journey to the far reaches of the world: Milan (inky black), Tasmania (dark chocolate), Madagascar (black gold), Bora Bora (royal blue), Swiss Alps (cool pewter), Rio de Janeiro (deep plum), Bali (emerald green), and Queensland (aquatic teal).

If you notice though I’ve only shown you 6 shades since these are the ones I’m using. I’ve got 3 shades I haven’t tested for a giveaway for one of you. I received 2 Bora Boras so one is in this giveaway, we’re also giving away Milan (black) and Bali (emerald green) so keep reading.

These liners are so much fun. I’m a huge fan of liquid liner so of course I use that the most but I find that liquids don’t always last that well on my bottom lashline since I do get a little teary at times. That’s where the very smooth retractable eyeliner pencils come in. I can coordinate with the opposite side and have a similar shade on top and bottom. Or I can use them both and create a unique shade.

Pur Minerals Double Ego in Bora Bora

Pur Minerals Double Ego in Bora Bora

While Pür Minerals Bora Bora appears to be a royal blue it’s got a teal touch so I wouldn’t really call it royal like Ulta does. Just wearing the liquid liner on my top lashline I do see royal but the pencil has more color and interest to it. Combine and you get a tricked out royal teal.

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Tasmania

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Tasmania

Pür Minerals Tasmania is my most used liquid liner from this group. I love a chocolate brown liquid and wear this often. I used to struggle with finding the right shade of brown since some can be too black and some can be too red. The liquid is a true brown whereas the pencil does have an undertone that’s got some redness to it. When I wear them together though I have the perfect shade.

Pür Minerals Double Ego Madagascar

Pür Minerals Double Ego Madagascar

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Madagascar is described as black gold by Pur and Ulta but I see a lot of green to it so a lot depends on the light and what you are wearing with this liner. You can bring out the green but you can also bring out the gold.

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Rio de Janeiro

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Rio de Janeiro

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Rio de Janeiro takes me on a trip I want to be on. This gorgeous purple is a liquid liner shade I’ve been missing in my collection. The liquid side is definitely purple while the pencil side is more of a black plum. When mixed together they are magnificent.

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Swiss Alps

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Swiss Alps

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Swiss Alps is one of my very favorite because of the three types of shades I can get with this. The liquid side is black but not a jet black, the pencil is an easy to wear pewtered charcoal and together they are magic and appear to be a darkened pewter that glows.

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Queensland and Bali

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Queensland and Bali

Pür Minerals Double Ego in Queensland and Bali appear very similar to me even though the descriptions are different. I played eeny meeny to pick the one that I’d keep and that turned out to be Queensland which is a beautiful teal. Bali is described as emerald green but when you look at my picture with both open I think you’ll agree that it’s a teal version of green. Although only the winner will know that since my swatches are of Queensland.

These Pür Minerals eyeliners are going to do whatever you want them to do from a daytime or easy evening look, to a cat’s eye with a swoosh of the liquid liner to a dramatic eye. I do have two warnings though about these. First is that the dry side is a mineral eyeliner and it is very soft so don’t open it too far out and don’t overdo the pressure when using it or the tip will break. Of course you can always click up more but you don’t want to waste the eyeliner. Second is that you need a true eye makeup remover for these Double Ego liners. The colors are intense and some of the shades can stain. I find that a makeup remover for waterproof eye makeup works the best. I soak my cotton pad with the remover and hold it on my eye without rubbing to soften the liner, making it easier to remove. If it looks like it’s still there, just wait until you wash up in the morning and you’ll see that it’s faded away.

I found these great eyeliners at both Ulta.com and Kohls.com and I’m pretty sure they are in the stores too. For $21 you’ll have a trio of great looks. — Marcia

Pur Minerals Cheek Stains – soft, cool and lovable

pur minerals stick blushes

Have you ever seen anything so cute? When I saw these Pur Minerals Cabernet Cheek Stains I couldn’t help but crave them and happily I was sent two to try out. In my world cream blushes rule and I already knew that Pur Minerals knew what to do with them when I wear the two Chateau Cream Blushes that I have.

Pur Minerals Cabernet Cheek Stains

What makes these unique is that these blush tints have an attached brush on the opposite end. It makes it so handy for travel purposes. I had these in my cosmetic bag the entire holiday weekend since I was on the go more than usual. Not only are the colors beautiful but the brush makes them apply easier than ever. The brush is soft and feels lush on your cheeks. You’ll want to use it with other blushes too.

Pur Minerals Cheek Stain in Peach Bellini and Rose'

Pur Minerals Cheek Stain in Peach Bellini and Rose’

The Cheek Stains are described by Pur Minerals as “Blush Tint and Brush Duo” ($26). I think that’s a better description than stain. The sticks go on with a refreshing coolness that is irresistible. I love the way they feel upon application. The colors aren’t as intense as I’d expect from something called a stain. Instead they are easy to wear shades that look so pretty once applied.

There are 4 shades available: Prosecco is a beautiful rose shade that will show up darker than Rose’ that I have.

Cabernet is a wine shade that appears to be quite cool toned.

Rose’ is a baby pink that’s almost Barbie Pink but it’s such a soft and flattering color that it doesn’t remind me of a doll.

Peach Bellini is the only warm shade in the group but it’s not overly warm. It looks like a slightly scary orange in the tube yet in actuality it’s a gentle peach that isn’t too dark.

Cheek Stains have a dewy glow. They contain skincare benefits with anti-oxidant wine extract to help with signs of aging.  Besides being cool to the touch, easy to use with luscious shades they also have a fruity fragrance that reminds me of bubble gum. I notice the fragrance at first but within about 10 minutes it’s gone.

These are blush sticks that I can easily recommend for you and in the lighter shades they’d be great for a teen since they are almost impossible to overdo. Pur Minerals is found on their website as well as at Ulta stores and online.
