Olivia Palermo Smokey Suedes Eye Palette by Ciate is a hidden treasure

The gifts are unwrapped, the ribbons/bows/paper are tossed, the food is eaten. Now you are surrounded by a group of gifts and deciding what to do with them. Do you love them? Are you happy or disappointed? And what about those gift cards? Decisions need to be made. If you are lucky enough to have a Sephora gift card or return to them, I have a suggestion for you.

No one ever talks about Ciate makeup. Actually I wasn’t aware of anything but their nail polish until I read that Olivia Palermo had designed some products for Ciate. That enticed me to look and therefore buy!

As is typical for me I played it safe with the more neutral of the two palettes and purchased Smokey Suedes or as it’s formally known: OLIVIA PALERMO x CIATE LONDON SMOKEY SUEDES EYE PALETTE ($39). When this palette arrived it looked like almost every other palette that I am attracted to and I wasn’t expecting much. How very wrong I was. I can NOT stop wearing this. The eyeshadows are like silk but they wear like iron. They are classy like Olivia Palermo herself and stand out without being flashy. They are everything I look for when purchasing.

The more I used this palette, the more I realized I needed to share it with you so forgive my used palette picture.

There are 9 shadows in the palette and they are are a mix of metallic and matte. What is so wonderful about these shades is that there’s no fallout at all. The metallic shades may appear to be shimmery in the palette but there is no glitter and nothing to fall unto your face. I love that I get the shimmer effect without actual shimmer.

The top row contains Shaken (pearl gold metallic), Verde (pearl bright olive), Macchiato (matte light pink brown), and Glazed (rose gold metallic). The middle shade (last in the photo below) is Butler, a bone matte. Butler is a great color to use with every shadow in the palette. For my fair skin Butler works perfectly on my brow bone to complete my eye without adding color, it makes my ‘eye of the day’ look complete.

I’m not a fan of matte shadows but I know they are a necessity, especially as we age. I like both mattes in the above picture (Macchiato and Butler) since they are subtle and work with my skintone. I l.o.v.e. the gold and rose gold metallic shades and want to wear them constantly!

The bottom row contains Prosecco (pearl ivory metallic), Cocoa (pearl bronze metallic), Whoopie Pie (matte medium brown) and Plumberry (matte aubergine).

My two favorites in this row are at the right, Cocoa (pearl bronze metallic) and Prosecco (pearl ivory metallic). I wear these two all the time. Cocoa works perfectly for me with the other metallic shades plus I often mix it with the matte brown (Whoopie Pie) if I want to town it down.

There is one shade out of the 9 that I won’t wear and that’s the matte aubergine, Plumberry. I’ve tried it but I felt it looked awful on me. But with 8 great shades I feel like this is a bargain actually.

Do yourself a favor and consider this palette with your holiday money. The outside is just as pretty as the inside with its sturdy gold and black metal packaging. The palette would be great for travel since there are so many looks you can create with these colors. Daytime or evening, it’s all packaged together in this high quality palette.  — Marciaciate olivia palermo
