Makeup Wars – Pore Relief

This week Makeup Wars has decided to focus on Skin Savers. This could be products for anything from wrinkles, blemishes, dark circles to my choice pore helpers. Even though skincare isn’t always exciting, it will be so interesting to see what the other bloggers have focused on. I can’t wait to read their posts and find ways to save my skin!

Makeup Wars - Pore Relief

Makeup Wars – Pore Relief

One of my problems is the size of my pores. Luckily no one walks around with magnifying glasses or I’d be shunned in society. As a teen I had way too many blackheads. Besides being shy as could be, I felt like this was the bane of my existence. As an adult I realize I’m lucky I had skin that oily back then because it’s kept me younger looking. But the end result is pores galore. My solution is to use products that make them look smaller and to exfoliate my skin a few times a week to keep my pores cleaner. I’ve chosen 5 of the products that I’m using to blur away this imperfection. I forgot about exfoliators so that will just have to be another time.

Kiehl's Micro-Blur Skin Perfector

Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector

KIEHL’S MICRO-BLUR SKIN PERFECTOR* – This is my newest product and I’m not ready to write a full review of it. At first I thought it was only a topical skin smoother but once I started reading about it I realized that this actually a treatment too. I haven’t used it long enough to see how it works over time but I’m enjoying this as my last step before applying foundation. It’s doing a good job in blurring my pores.

Mally Poreless Pore Defender (old packaging)

Mally Poreless Pore Defender (old packaging)

MALLY EVERCOLOR PORELESS FACE DEFENDER – I’ve mentioned this many times since it’s one of my most used products ever. I’m on my third one and that’s almost gone. I first received it in a QVC kit I bought and before it was gone, I purchased another. I use this over all my face makeup to help look as poreless as possible. The sponge it comes with is wonderful, just be careful not to use too much.

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish

PURELY COSMETICS DIAMOND PERFECT FINISH * – I use either the Mally Face Defender or Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish powder every day without fail. Not only does this very finely milled powder set my makeup for an entire day, it also helps blur imperfections. I’m in love with this powder as well as the Pre-Fixx Face Primer I talked about in my indie company review.

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish

MIRACLE SKIN TRANSFORMER VANISH* – MST makes many great products and I love discovering them all but I think my favorite is VANISH. I didn’t realize how great this was when I first reviewed it over a year ago, but the more I use it the more I realize just how much I like it. It combines a serum with a primer to produce a gel that helps vanish fine lines and pores. In my original review I mention all the long term benefits. I’m ready for the illusion of porcelain skin with Vanish.

Youngblood Anti-Shine Mattifier

Youngblood Anti-Shine Mattifier

YOUNGBLOOD ANTI-SHINE MATTIFIER – I bought this at IMATS just before it became available to the public because I was so excited to find that one of my favorite companies had come out with a product to not only keep me shine free but also to make those pesky pores look smaller. I apply this before foundation so even though it seems similar to the Mally, it’s placement is better for me during makeup application rather than after. The packaging is great since the sponge is housed under the mattifier so it’s better for travel or taking with.

Rather than my going on for miles of more products tell me which of these you’ve used and any others that you’d recommend. Then join the other bloggers to see what Skin Savers they recommend. — Marcia

Miracle Skin Transformer Face Spotlight review

Who doesn’t love a multi-tasker?  Miracle Skin Transformer SPF20 Face Spotlight ($48) is a skin enhancer that does five different things: hydrate, prime, enhance, illuminate & protect. MST kindly sent this to each of us for review. With 5 ways to improve our skin, we were thrilled to try it out.

Miracle Skin Transformer FACE Spotlight

Miracle Skin Transformer FACE Spotlight

The mineral pigments and anti-aging ingredients work hard to:

  • Illuminate skin, while reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Minimize the appearance of pore size and uneven skin texture.
  • Hydrate to provide long lasting nourishment and anti-aging benefits.
  • Help protect against future sun damage with UVA/UVB SPF 20.

So how does it work for pale-faced Marcia and faux-tanned Lisa?

Marcia’s Side:

Miracle Skin Transformer products I use

As you can see I have a stash of MST products that get used on a regular basis. The newest addition to this is Face Spotlight. MST also makes a similar product called Miracle Skin Transformer FACE. The difference is that the one we’re sharing today is tinted with illuminating particles that make you glow while the original FACE gives a matte look. Let’s learn about these 5 enhancements:

HydrateFace Spotlight nourishes skin with a bevy of ingredients like Saw Palmetto and Passion Fruit extracts. It contains Vitamins  and CoEnzyme Q10 to deliver hydration to your skin. But the most important ingredient that helps hydrate is Glycerin which also helps smooth your skin.

Prime - You can use Face Spotlight as a primer or a foundation to give your skin a light golden glow. I personally use this by either mixing a little into a foundation or just on my cheeks under foundation.

Enhance - Face Spotlight works to visibly reduce the look of pores, fine lines and skin texture. That’s enhancement!!

Illuminate - There is a light gold tint to Face Spotlight that has some teeny little sparkles in it.

Protect - with SPF 20 Broad Spectrum sunscreen, this protects your face from UVA/UVB rays. If you are counting on this as sunscreen please don’t forget to reapply after 2 hours.

I am more of a full coverage gal, so Face Spotlight is not something I use as a foundation. However, it is terrific under foundation. It evens out my skin tone and it has that pearlized glow that really perks up my look. I love it on my neck, decolletage, and arms too.  Freckles are far less noticeable and of course there is the benefit of the Broad Spectrum SPF20 Sunscreen.

Miracle Skin Transformer Face Spotlight swatch

The ‘universal shade’ swatches dark, but it sheers out and will work for skin tones except for very fair or dark. I use a self-tanner in the summer months and this compliments it beautifully with the mineralized pigments that reflect light and help hide fine lines and wrinkles.

We found this for sale at Dermstore.com.and Ulta.com (they just call it SPOTLIGHT).  Dermstore calls it a BB Cream but that’s not how we’d describe it at all. We think that the name FACE SPOTLIGHT is the perfect description. If you want a little enhancement that doesn’t take you over the top then this is the product to try. Are you a fan of Miracle Skin Transformer like we are??

Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Balm

Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Balm

Miracle Skin Transformer has added a new product to their fascinating line – MIRACLE BALM. We’ve been lucky to be able to review MST products before so we were especially excited when they sent us Miracle Balm to test and review.

What makes Miracle Balm so unique is that it’s a multi-purpose product that is loaded with the most amazing ingredients. Just look at this list: Tamanu Oil, Manuka Honey, Shea Butter, Blue Mountain Sage Oil, Japanese Licorice Root, Evening Primrose Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sesame Seed Oil and Moringa Oil. These ingredients are there to soothe and protect skin.

You can use this balm anywhere you want on your body – cuticles, lips, face, feet, knees and elbows, and even hair. Anything that is in distress will be calling out for Miracle Balm and it won’t be disappointed.

MARCIA’S REVIEW:

The power of Miracle Balm by Miracle Skin Transformer came through when I needed it most and took a chance using it on my face. I had used it on my feet and elbows just like MST said to and liked it but the big wow came when I had a reaction to an ingredient in a skincare product.

MST Miracle Balm

MST Miracle Balm

I test a lot of skincare and rarely have problems so when I started getting a ton of small bumps and what appeared to be under-the-skin pimples on my chin I didn’t give it much thought. When it grew and became obvious that’s when I panicked. It took me a while to realize I was reacting to the main ingredient in a new set of skincare and that I had actually reacted to it once before. In an attempt to solve this I noticed Miracle Balm on my vanity and figured it was worth a try. I cut back to basics and applied this balm instead of moisturizer on my chin and within 3 days those bumps were almost gone.

Miracle Balm swatch

Miracle Balm swatch

On the package it says “skin smoothing creamy oil” but it doesn’t feel oily at all (unless I’m doing something wrong). Instead it feels like a thick balm that is soothing. I used it lightly during the day since it is thick and a little more heavily at night. While it is not recommended as a pimple cream, it did help with the breakouts since they were a reaction to an ingredient. According to Miracle Skin Transformer “This multi-purpose beauty balm specially designed to immediately hydrate sensitive, irritated skin, and address and soothe the multiple sources of aggression and stress.”mst miracle balm back box

I’m currently using this in a few ways. I have a cut on my face that’s getting Miracle Balm applied several times a day; it no longer stings or is sensitive. Plus it’s healing without scabbing. I use it on my elbows and ankles after I take a shower since that seems to be when it absorbs the best. And my toes are getting some Miracle Balm since I need to see a podiatrist but haven’t gone. This is my home version of a podiatrist. I’m happy to have this in my arsenal of tools and believe you would be too.

LISA’S REVIEW:

Well, I used my entire tube up, so that’s a pretty good indication of how much I liked it! Miracle Balm does seem to be a miracle for the skin. I have to give my cats medicine and sometimes the cat wins…and I end up with scratches. Putting Miracle Balm over cuts once they start to heal really speeds up the healing process. I put it over bruises and they heal quicker. I smooth it on dry areas and they soften and disappear almost instantly. I think I love it the most for dry cuticles. After reading Marcia’s review I am bummed I never tried it on my face!

not really a balm, more like a creamy lotion

Like Marcia noted, it’s not really a balm, it’s more of a creamy lotion. The squeeze tube is terrific because it keeps the product sanitary. It is a great option for pretty much anyone since it doesn’t have a noticeable fragrance and it is formulated for sensitive skin. Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Balm is definitely something everyone should have in their skin care arsenal.

Time to play in the mud with Miracle Skin Transformer Mud Mask

Miracle Skin Transformer is providing more miracles for your skin – this time with their Miracle Revival Mud Skin Restoring Treatment Mask  ($38).

MST

Is this mud mask a miracle for your skin?

Who doesn’t love playing in the mud? It’s always fun to get dirty in the name of getting clean. I adore mud masks so I was thrilled when Miracle Skin Transformer sent the BIZ their new mud mask. This mask promises some real miracles for your skin – hydrated skin, improved firmness, redness reduction, wrinkle reduction, detoxification and protection from free-radicals. It even takes on uneven pigmentation and dark spots.

MST

Miracle Skin Transformer – a HUGE jar of mud

Inside the huge jar is what MST calls the M3 Complex, which is a combination of antioxidants and vitamins like green tea and mushroom extract, oat beta glucans, and extracts of the Resurrection Plant (boy that sure sounds like something that makes miracles happen!). It’s got bioactive silt from European lakes to invigorate the skin and Kaolin clay to help keep skin clear by drawing out impurities.

MST

mud never looked so good

The mask is applied to clean, dry skin.  It’s left on for 15 minutes, then rinsed off with warm water. I find it makes my skin tingle a bit, in a pleasant way. It smells sort of like mint. Afterwards, my skin is extremely soft and hydrated. I’ve been using this twice a week for a month, and my skin looks great.  I have definitely noticed an improvement in skin tone with less redness and an overall brighter complexion. If I have the beginnings of a hormonal outbreak, I use this mask and blemishes run away.

If you like mud masks, this is one to check out. I think it’s a total winner, it does everything it says and doesn’t dry out my skin at all.  Hooray for miracles and mud!  - Lisa

Miracle Skin Transformer transforms lips now with Lip Rewind

Miracle Skin Transformer Lip Rewind

Miracle Skin Transformer Lip Rewind

Miracle Skin Transformer has surprised us by taking a turn towards lips. This amazing company, created by Sarah McNamara, started with one product and from that has created so many amazing products and they keep getting better. Their goal is to make our life easier by combining what each product will do so everything is pretty much double duty. With Lip Rewind MST (as it’s affectionately called) has created a lipgloss that not only is pretty but helps to improve the definition of your lips. The official name is Lip Rewind Advanced Peptide Lip Treatment SPF20. The lip treatment is infused with ingredients that will help

  •   Repair daily damage
  •   Boost volume and moisture content
  •   Protect from UVA/UVB sun damage
  •   Improve the definition of the lip contour and shape

It’s available in 5 beautiful shades

LoveLove

We were thrilled when they sent us Pink and Berry to do a Side by Side review for you. Each shade is filled with shine and the prettiest hints of color.

Marcia’s Side:

There are only things to love about Miracle Skin Transformer’s Lip Rewind. It protects my lips with sunscreen and Vitamin E. It hydrates my lips with ingredients like pomegranate and shea butter. It helps smooth away wrinkles with hyaluronic microspheres. It enhances my lips with plumping ingredients like peppermint and menthol. It helps restore collagen production with peptides and ingredients like white rose moss extract. And it looks good at the same time. What could be better?

Lip Rewind tube in Pink

Lip Rewind tube in Pink

The shade I chose to receive is Pink, always my favorite lip shade. The color looks a little deeper in the wind-up tube than it does on my lips. The color is quite sheer and I find it basically enhances my own lip shade giving it a little bit of depth but not too much. I wear this both alone and over lipsticks. I find the most plumping action though is when I wear it on its own. That’s when the work begins and my lips begin to look a little plumper and definitely less lined.

Lisa’s Side:

I really like this.  I tend to have dry lips, so the MST Lip Rewind feels like heaven to my moisture-starved kisser. Plus I know that the peptides and hyaluronic acid will help stave off those awful lines around my lips.

MST

MST Lip Rewind

The applicator is fun and unique – it didn’t take many turns for the product to start coming out, then it was fascinating to watch once it did!

fun with applicators

The texture is slightly sticky, it’s just emollient enough to feel moisturizing but not super slick. It has a slight cooling effect due to the peppermint oil in it, which is pleasant to the point of almost being addicting.

I have the shade Berry. It looks bright cherry red coming out of the tube, but it’s sheer on giving just a bit more than a hint of color and shine.

This is a winner – it heals, protects, and looks great in the process.  Awesome!

Now that Marcia and Lisa have reviewed Lip Rewind and told you how much we like these, we have one more very important reason for you to consider this as your next beauty buy. Sarah McNamara has created a charitable fund if you buy the shade LOVE. “Sarah McNamara Beauty New York Cares
The Children’s Action Network is a national non-profit organization founded to harness the power of the entertainment business to raise awareness of children’s issues, specifically the plight of the 107,000 foster children in the United States in need of a loving family.
In support of children’s Action Network’s efforts to find loving families for waiting foster children, $5 from the sale of every Lip Rewind in the shade LOVE will be donated to the charity.”

Miracle Skin Transformer Lip Rewind Advanced Peptide Lip Treatment ($24) is available on their website and also at Sephora. Do something good for your lips while making them look their best with Lip Rewind.

What can Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish do for you?

Vanish

Vanish

When I heard that Miracle Skin Transformer created Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector visions of wonder danced through my head. There was retaliation for Albert who followed me relentlessly in 2nd grade petrifying me, making me cry and refusing to go to school.  Then there was Stacey who flirted with my boyfriend and made me jealous. Or was it the kind of “vanish” that could get rid of that high school teacher that scared the bejesus out of me just by looking in my direction? I’d love to have made him Vanish. And what about those pimples that came on just before that really big date? Or the extra five pounds that made sure you couldn’t zip up those expensive new jeans? Ah, the dreams of Vanish!

Miracle Skin Transformer VANISH

Miracle Skin Transformer VANISH

Since this Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish couldn’t do that then I needed to see what it could do.  According to MST it’s a primer but it’s different than most of my other primers. Its purpose is to not just prep your skin for foundation but also to make pesky pores and fine lines appear to vanish before your very eyes. To give the appearance of that model-like perfect skin we all strive for. It’s a concentrated instant skin treatment that combines the power of a serum with a skin smoothing primer addressing imperfections. It does a pretty good job.

vanish directionVanish is a white silicone like gel that applies very smoothly. It gives my skin a soft touch that lasts the day. While it’s not magic, it definitely blurs the lines making my skin look more flawless. When I was testing this out, many times I applied it to just half of my face to see the difference it would make. I also tested it wearing a variety of finishes on my face. I wore it with the original Miracle Skin Transformer, with BB creams, with liquid and cream foundations, and with Make Up For Ever Pro Finish Powder. In each case the pores on the side of my face with vanish weren’t quite as visible. The differences were small, not enough to have people call me out for being “two faced” but they were there.

VANISH TUBE

VANISH TUBE

Using this is easy, it’s in a pump tube which is different than most. It took a minute to get it primed but soon a small amount pumped out. You don’t want to waste product and this pumps out just enough  to cover both cheeks and my nose. If I want to put it on my whole face then I can just use a second pump. Vanish is also easy on my nose. I really don’t notice a scent.

According to Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish Instant Imperfection Corrector will boost collagen production and improve elasticity. LONG TERM skin benefits: This concentrated skin treatment utilizes the latest in skin treatment technology with highly stabilized Vitamin C + Ergothionine – a super antioxidant duo, along with Sesame, Grapefruit and Lupine extracts. The skin penetrating serum addresses the quadruple threat of aging concerns: fine lines/ wrinkles, sun damage/environmental stress, dark spots and dullness.

To me the purpose of foundation is to rid my face of all that annoys me – redness, broken blood vessels, uneven complexion and crater like pores. I don’t care if it’s an illusion if it makes me look and feel better. Vanish helps with that illusion. It gives my skin enough added smoothness to look more refined. It helps to Vanish the imperfections. Now if it could only help to vanish my Visa bill then it would be perfect. Another great addition to the family of products created by Sarah McNamara for Miracle Skin Transformer.  — Marcia
