Makeup Wars – Pore Relief

This week Makeup Wars has decided to focus on Skin Savers. This could be products for anything from wrinkles, blemishes, dark circles to my choice pore helpers. Even though skincare isn’t always exciting, it will be so interesting to see what the other bloggers have focused on. I can’t wait to read their posts and find ways to save my skin!

Makeup Wars - Pore Relief

Makeup Wars – Pore Relief

One of my problems is the size of my pores. Luckily no one walks around with magnifying glasses or I’d be shunned in society. As a teen I had way too many blackheads. Besides being shy as could be, I felt like this was the bane of my existence. As an adult I realize I’m lucky I had skin that oily back then because it’s kept me younger looking. But the end result is pores galore. My solution is to use products that make them look smaller and to exfoliate my skin a few times a week to keep my pores cleaner. I’ve chosen 5 of the products that I’m using to blur away this imperfection. I forgot about exfoliators so that will just have to be another time.

Kiehl's Micro-Blur Skin Perfector

Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector

KIEHL’S MICRO-BLUR SKIN PERFECTOR* – This is my newest product and I’m not ready to write a full review of it. At first I thought it was only a topical skin smoother but once I started reading about it I realized that this actually a treatment too. I haven’t used it long enough to see how it works over time but I’m enjoying this as my last step before applying foundation. It’s doing a good job in blurring my pores.

Mally Poreless Pore Defender (old packaging)

Mally Poreless Pore Defender (old packaging)

MALLY EVERCOLOR PORELESS FACE DEFENDER – I’ve mentioned this many times since it’s one of my most used products ever. I’m on my third one and that’s almost gone. I first received it in a QVC kit I bought and before it was gone, I purchased another. I use this over all my face makeup to help look as poreless as possible. The sponge it comes with is wonderful, just be careful not to use too much.

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish

PURELY COSMETICS DIAMOND PERFECT FINISH * – I use either the Mally Face Defender or Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish powder every day without fail. Not only does this very finely milled powder set my makeup for an entire day, it also helps blur imperfections. I’m in love with this powder as well as the Pre-Fixx Face Primer I talked about in my indie company review.

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish

Miracle Skin Transformer Vanish

MIRACLE SKIN TRANSFORMER VANISH* – MST makes many great products and I love discovering them all but I think my favorite is VANISH. I didn’t realize how great this was when I first reviewed it over a year ago, but the more I use it the more I realize just how much I like it. It combines a serum with a primer to produce a gel that helps vanish fine lines and pores. In my original review I mention all the long term benefits. I’m ready for the illusion of porcelain skin with Vanish.

Youngblood Anti-Shine Mattifier

Youngblood Anti-Shine Mattifier

YOUNGBLOOD ANTI-SHINE MATTIFIER – I bought this at IMATS just before it became available to the public because I was so excited to find that one of my favorite companies had come out with a product to not only keep me shine free but also to make those pesky pores look smaller. I apply this before foundation so even though it seems similar to the Mally, it’s placement is better for me during makeup application rather than after. The packaging is great since the sponge is housed under the mattifier so it’s better for travel or taking with.

Rather than my going on for miles of more products tell me which of these you’ve used and any others that you’d recommend. Then join the other bloggers to see what Skin Savers they recommend. — Marcia

Miracle Skin Transformer Face Spotlight review

Who doesn’t love a multi-tasker?  Miracle Skin Transformer SPF20 Face Spotlight ($48) is a skin enhancer that does five different things: hydrate, prime, enhance, illuminate & protect. MST kindly sent this to each of us for review. With 5 ways to improve our skin, we were thrilled to try it out.

The mineral pigments and anti-aging ingredients work hard to:

  • Illuminate skin, while reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Minimize the appearance of pore size and uneven skin texture.
  • Hydrate to provide long lasting nourishment and anti-aging benefits.
  • Help protect against future sun damage with UVA/UVB SPF 20.

So how does it work for pale-faced Marcia and faux-tanned Lisa?

As you can see I have a stash of MST products that get used on a regular basis. The newest addition to this is Face Spotlight. MST also makes a similar product called Miracle Skin Transformer FACE. The difference is that the one we’re sharing today is tinted with illuminating particles that make you glow while the original FACE gives a matte look. Let’s learn about these 5 enhancements:

Hydrate – Face Spotlight nourishes skin with a bevy of ingredients like Saw Palmetto and Passion Fruit extracts. It contains Vitamins  and CoEnzyme Q10 to deliver hydration to your skin. But the most important ingredient that helps hydrate is Glycerin which also helps smooth your skin.

Prime – You can use Face Spotlight as a primer or a foundation to give your skin a light golden glow. I personally use this by either mixing a little into a foundation or just on my cheeks under foundation.

Enhance – Face Spotlight works to visibly reduce the look of pores, fine lines and skin texture. That’s enhancement!!

Illuminate – There is a light gold tint to Face Spotlight that has some teeny little sparkles in it.

Protect – with SPF 20 Broad Spectrum sunscreen, this protects your face from UVA/UVB rays. If you are counting on this as sunscreen please don’t forget to reapply after 2 hours.

I am more of a full coverage gal, so Face Spotlight is not something I use as a foundation. However, it is terrific under foundation. It evens out my skin tone and it has that pearlized glow that really perks up my look. I love it on my neck, decolletage, and arms too.  Freckles are far less noticeable and of course there is the benefit of the Broad Spectrum SPF20 Sunscreen.

The ‘universal shade’ swatches dark, but it sheers out and will work for skin tones except for very fair or dark. I use a self-tanner in the summer months and this compliments it beautifully with the mineralized pigments that reflect light and help hide fine lines and wrinkles.

We found this for sale at Dermstore.com.and Ulta.com (they just call it SPOTLIGHT).  Dermstore calls it a BB Cream but that’s not how we’d describe it at all. We think that the name FACE SPOTLIGHT is the perfect description. If you want a little enhancement that doesn’t take you over the top then this is the product to try. Are you a fan of Miracle Skin Transformer like we are??

Miracle Skin Transformer has added a new product to their fascinating line – MIRACLE BALM. We’ve been lucky to be able to review MST products before so we were especially excited when they sent us Miracle Balm to test and review.

Just look at this list: Tamanu Oil, Manuka Honey, Shea Butter, Blue Mountain Sage Oil, Japanese Licorice Root, Evening Primrose Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sesame Seed Oil and Moringa Oil. You can use this balm anywhere you want on your body – cuticles, lips, face, feet, knees and elbows, and even hair. Anything that is in distress will be calling out for Miracle Balm and it won’t be disappointed.

MARCIA’S REVIEW:

The power of Miracle Balm by Miracle Skin Transformer came through when I needed it most and took a chance using it on my face. I had used it on my feet and elbows just like MST said to and liked it but the big wow came when I had a reaction to an ingredient in a skincare product.

MST Miracle Balm

MST Miracle Balm

I test a lot of skincare and rarely have problems so when I started getting a ton of small bumps and what appeared to be under-the-skin pimples on my chin I didn’t give it much thought. When it grew and became obvious that’s when I panicked. It took me a while to realize I was reacting to the main ingredient in a new set of skincare and that I had actually reacted to it once before. In an attempt to solve this I noticed Miracle Balm on my vanity and figured it was worth a try. I cut back to basics and applied this balm instead of moisturizer on my chin and within 3 days those bumps were almost gone.

On the package it says “skin smoothing creamy oil” but it doesn’t feel oily at all (unless I’m doing something wrong). Instead it feels like a thick balm that is soothing. I used it lightly during the day since it is thick and a little more heavily at night. While it is not recommended as a pimple cream, it did help with the breakouts since they were a reaction to an ingredient. According to Miracle Skin Transformer “This multi-purpose beauty balm specially designed to immediately hydrate sensitive, irritated skin, and address and soothe the multiple sources of aggression and stress.”mst miracle balm back box

I’m currently using this in a few ways. I have a cut on my face that’s getting Miracle Balm applied several times a day; it no longer stings or is sensitive. Plus it’s healing without scabbing. I use it on my elbows and ankles after I take a shower since that seems to be when it absorbs the best. And my toes are getting some Miracle Balm since I need to see a podiatrist but haven’t gone. This is my home version of a podiatrist. I’m happy to have this in my arsenal of tools and believe you would be too.

LISA’S REVIEW:

Well, I used my entire tube up, so that’s a pretty good indication of how much I liked it! Miracle Balm does seem to be a miracle for the skin. I have to give my cats medicine and sometimes the cat wins…and I end up with scratches. Putting Miracle Balm over cuts once they start to heal really speeds up the healing process. I put it over bruises and they heal quicker. I smooth it on dry areas and they soften and disappear almost instantly. I think I love it the most for dry cuticles. After reading Marcia’s review I am bummed I never tried it on my face!

not really a balm, more like a creamy lotion

Like Marcia noted, it’s not really a balm, it’s more of a creamy lotion. The squeeze tube is terrific because it keeps the product sanitary. It is a great option for pretty much anyone since it doesn’t have a noticeable fragrance and it is formulated for sensitive skin. Miracle Skin Transformer Miracle Balm is definitely something everyone should have in their skin care arsenal.

Time to play in the mud with Miracle Skin Transformer Mud Mask

Miracle Skin Transformer is providing more miracles for your skin – this time with their Miracle Revival Mud Skin Restoring Treatment Mask  ($38).

MST

Is this mud mask a miracle for your skin?

Who doesn’t love playing in the mud? It’s always fun to get dirty in the name of getting clean. I adore mud masks so I was thrilled when Miracle Skin Transformer sent the BIZ their new mud mask. This mask promises some real miracles for your skin – hydrated skin, improved firmness, redness reduction, wrinkle reduction, detoxification and protection from free-radicals. It even takes on uneven pigmentation and dark spots.

MST

Miracle Skin Transformer – a HUGE jar of mud

Inside the huge jar is what MST calls the M3 Complex, which is a combination of antioxidants and vitamins like green tea and mushroom extract, oat beta glucans, and extracts of the Resurrection Plant (boy that sure sounds like something that makes miracles happen!). It’s got bioactive silt from European lakes to invigorate the skin and Kaolin clay to help keep skin clear by drawing out impurities.

MST

mud never looked so good

The mask is applied to clean, dry skin.  It’s left on for 15 minutes, then rinsed off with warm water. I find it makes my skin tingle a bit, in a pleasant way. It smells sort of like mint. Afterwards, my skin is extremely soft and hydrated. I’ve been using this twice a week for a month, and my skin looks great.  I have definitely noticed an improvement in skin tone with less redness and an overall brighter complexion. If I have the beginnings of a hormonal outbreak, I use this mask and blemishes run away.

If you like mud masks, this is one to check out. I think it’s a total winner, it does everything it says and doesn’t dry out my skin at all.  Hooray for miracles and mud!  – Lisa
