We’re assimiliating Osmosis Colour Water Color High Intensity Loose Shadows into our lives

Looking for some bold drama for your eyes? Osmosis has what you are craving – loose shadows that have crazy good pigmentation that look like a cream eyeshadow and wear like iron. We are talking about their line of Water Color High Intensity Loose Eyeshadows ($14). There are five gorgeous jewel toned shades available, including Amethyst, Azure, Onyx, Pink Champagne, and Topaz.

Osmosis Water Color High Intensity Loose Eyeshadows

These are unlike the typical loose pigment eyeshadows – they aren’t powdery and dry. Instead, they eyeshadows look like little pebbles in a jar. The minerals are bound together around molecules of water that burst when applied, so the end result is creamy, shimmery, and and gorgeous. Lisa and Marcia each tested one shade and they are lusting for the rest of the collection.

LISA’S SHADE:  PINK CHAMPAGNE

Osmosis Water Color Loose Eyeshadow in Pink Champagne

Osmosis Water Color Loose Eyeshadow in Pink Champagne

Ok, let me be frank – I am getting old and my eyelids are showing it.  This means that cream eyeshadows are becoming a no-no for me. Yes, I know I my eyelids are getting crepey. No, I don’t want to accentuate that, thank you very much. A loose pigment that turns creamy doesn’t sound good for my eyes, but once I read Olivia’s rave review (The Unknown Beauty Blog, read the review HERE) I knew I wanted one of these.

Wearing Pink Champagne

I am no stranger to loose pigments, but Water Color High Intensity Loose Eyeshadow is different from any I have ever tried. It has an incredible texture, and you need just the tiniest bit for incredible color and shine. I tried Pink Champagne, which is heavy on the silver if you use too much. Used lightly with a sponge tip applicator, the color is a pinky silver that is truly gorgeous. The powder balls morph into a creamy shadow that brightens my eyes yet doesn’t sink into the crepey lines. Instead it looks smooth and beautiful. I love it and I want all five shades!!

MARCIA’S SHADE:  TOPAZ

Osmosis Water Color High Intensity Loose Eyeshadow in Topaz

Osmosis Water Color High Intensity Loose Eyeshadow in Topaz

When these two pigment shadows arrived from Osmosis it took everything I had in me to give one to Lisa for review. I wanted them both so badly but I’m trying to be a good blog partner so I brought her Pink Champagne knowing she’d love it. The shade I have is Topaz which is bold and beautiful. It’s the most unusual eye pigment ever! I’d describe it as a liquid powder.

Osmosis Water Color High Intensity Loose Eyeshadow in Topaz

Osmosis Water Color High Intensity Loose Eyeshadow in Topaz

As you can see Topaz is an intense shade that’s very gold or a golden topaz depending on how much you use. Because of the unusual texture a brush didn’t work for me and my fingers didn’t fit in the pot. I’ve used my Make Up For Ever Silicone brush with it and get an extreme metallic golden look. Love it!! But I also want to be able to use it for daytime so I tried a sponge tip applicator and got a softer look. Then I buffed my eyelid with my finger and smoothed it even more. That’s what you see below although it’s more metallic in real life.

Osmosis Topaz

Besides beautiful shades (I really want Pink Champagne after seeing Lisa wear it last week and Onyx) these creamy pigments are actually good for your eyes. They are infused with antioxidant-rich goji berry and green tea extracts and hydrate, condition and protect your delicate eyelids. They contain Vitamins A, C and E for free-radical protection. The special formula also prevents creasing and caking. I’ve worn Topaz several times and it amazes me how the shadow never fades. It stays silky and vibrant. It’s heading towards eyeshadow of the year, that’s how much I like it!

Self tanning bronzing powder! Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals

Vita Liberata Trystal MineralsI can’t even begin to guess how many self tanners I have tried, not to mention how many bronzers. I thought I had pretty much tried it all…and then Vita Liberata sent their Trystal Minerals ($45) to test. I assumed it was a mineral bronzer, and I was right…but it’s also a self tanner. That threw me for a loop! Yes, Trystal Minerals is the world’s first self tanning bronzing mineral powder.  Pretty cool!

Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals
Trystal Minerals is a bronzing mineral powder that interacts with moisturizer or liquid foundation, turning into a faux tan. How does it do it? With  crystal technology – this makes it so the DHA in the dry crystals activates when it comes into contact with skin. The crystals also reflect light, so skin looks smooth and glowy.

I find that it really works best as a self-tanner over moisturizer. Over foundation I get more of just the bronzing effect, I think because the more moist skin is, the more the self-tanning part manifests.Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals swatched

The bronzing powder comes with a fabulous silky kabuki brush.Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals and brush

Just blend the bronzing powder in all over face, neck, and decolletage for an instant tan, concentrating more on the cheeks for the bronzing effect. The more mineral powder you apply, the deeper the tan. The tan lasts about five days, and reapplication keeps it going as long as you want. I find the color to be a little on the red side and it definitely deepens skin color by several shades. Also, it’s best to apply it in small amounts. Going too heavy can result in ‘dirty’ looking areas. Easy to correct with a little more powder, but even easier to just avoid the problem with small amounts of powder worked into the kabuki then buffed on.

Here I am with just moisturizer on my face:

And here I am right after applying Trystal Minerals with the kabuki brush:

Who needs foundation??

I love this product. It is super easy to apply and gives great results. I recently traveled by plane and liquids were such a hassle, so I totally appreciate the powder format. Plus, powder really doesn’t go bad and Trystal Minerals comes in a large enough jar to last for at least a year.

Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals can be found in the US at Sephora stores. It’s a terrific, innovative product that is definitely worth trying!  – Lisa

Beauty detoxified: Minerals by Annmarie Multi-Purpose Foundation

Annmarie Skin Care is a great natural skin care line that we have reviewed many times, so when they sent a ‘sneak peek’ of the foundation in their new makeup line I was intrigued. Minerals by Annmarie Multi-Purpose Foundation is a very different foundation that is made from mineral powders and has only four ingredients. The focus is on beautiful makeup that is free of any ingredients that could potentially be harmful.

Annemarie Skin Care Earth Minerals sample kit

The Sample Kit ($20) comes with four small vials of mineral foundation powder in varying shades, along with a vial of Herbal Facial Oil.  The mineral foundation can be mixed with water or facial oil, either the ones Annemarie Skin Care offers or really any that you might already own. Water makes for more of a tint, while serums and oils give a thicker, creamier consistency with greater coverage.

I like having the varying shades since my skin color really changes throughout the seasons. Mid-winter I am almost fair, and mid-summer I am definitely medium. I found that by adding more powder I could easily make a concealer, and with less I could make a great tinted moisturizer.

Annemarie Skin Care Earth Minerals in Honey and Olive

Annemarie Skin Care Earth Minerals in Honey and Olive

I am very, very impressed with how this foundation wears. It looks natural, even when I went for maximum coverage. It lasts all day and has a bit of a glow. The only thing I didn’t like was the Herbal Facial Oil. This is STRONGLY scented…so much so that I had to take off my foundation because it was giving me a headache. Luckily, the powder foundation plays well with everything else I tried.

The Minerals by Annmarie Foundation Sample Kit is Annemarie Skin Care’s launch into the color cosmetics arena, and it’s a good one…I definitely recommend trying this out! Also, take a moment to view the video below regarding potential health hazards in cosmetics.   – Lisa

Fantastic find! Bellapierre 5 in 1 Mineral Foundation

Bellapierre Mineral FoundationsI have tried many different loose powder foundations, but none have completely won my heart.  Either the foundation contains bismuth, which breaks me out when my skin is feeling sensitive, or else I want more coverage.  Bellepierre Cosmetics recently sent us their 5 in 1 Mineral Powder Foundation ($64.99) to try…and I am hooked.  This is awesome stuff.

bellapierre-loose-mineral-foundation-9g
Ok, I know, powder foundations are so MESSY.  I will never forget the day I dropped an entire open container…and neither will my carpet.  But  Bellapierre’s foundation has a Twist-And-Lock Sifter which gives me total control of the amount dispensed.

The foundation has four ingredients: Mica, Zinc Oxides, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide.  The result is buildable coverage that leaves skin absolutely glowy.  I am shocked every time I use it.  I don’t look powdery or flat, and I also don’t look oily.  It’s the best of both worlds.

So why is this foundation called 5 in 1?  It can be used for five different things –

• Concealer
Foundation
• SPF
• Finishing Powder
• Setting Powder (Veil)

I mix the powder with a mixing medium and it makes a great concealer.  Thin it out a bit, and it’s a liquid foundation.  No matter what foundation I use, I always use this as my finishing powder.  It sets makeup beautifully and keeps it in place for hours.

There are 10 shades available – nice to see some great options for women of color!  I tested both Cinnamon, which is my ‘winter skin’ shade, and Latte, which is my ‘summer skin’ shade.  Right now I am in between the two, so I mix them together for a perfect combination.

I love that this foundation also provides UVA and UVB sun protection (SPF 15) thanks to the Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide.

Heck, I just love this foundation period.  Even if you have tried loose powder mineral foundations in the past and found them lacking, I urge you to check these out.  They are fantastic!  – Lisa

How is this for some seasonal makeup inspiration?

I love autumn shades, and I am finding tons of great options from Bellapierre Cosmetics.  Bellapierre Cosmetics is a pretty fantastic mineral makeup line that actually manufactures their own products.  That means everything is not only high quality without a bunch of ‘filler’ ingredients, the shades are also totally on trend.  They have a huge range of colors and the line is built around the concept of a completely natural appearance.  Each product is designed to deliver a healthy, natural glow.  I am beyond impressed with the products they sent us – this is a really cool line that deserves attention.

Here are some of my favorite items and shades for this season.

Bellapierre autumn shades

The Compact Mineral Blush ($49.99) is a talc and bismuth-free powder mineral blush that has amazing pigmentation.  Use a light hand and blend for a fantastic, glow-from-within effect.  The compact has two compartments, one with the blush and one with a powder puff you can use in a pinch.  It has a nice, big mirror which is always something I appreciate.

My picks for the ultimate fall shades are Amaretto, a natural soft matte orange-toned bronze, and the aptly named Autumn Glow, a beautiful matte red/orange copper.

The Mineral Lipstick ($19.99) is currently on sale – 2 for $20 for a limited time!  These lipsticks have natural waxes and mineral pigments, iron oxides and antioxidants including Vitamin C and Vitamin E. While the packaging for all the other Bellapierre Cosmetics products seems super sturdy, the lipstick packaging is not very substantial.  The lipstick makes up for what the packaging lacks, however – these are creamy, smooth, pigmented lipsticks that really last.  It’s definitely worth noting that the Mineral Lipsticks do NOT have any animal products, lead, lanolin, or synthetic parabens.

There are 14 different shades available, but my fall picks are Catwalk, a neutral pinky brown, and Envy, a soft wine cream.

So here is my Bellapierre Cosmetics fall face of the day – but I don’t consider my look to be complete without nail polish!  Luckily, Bellapierre has an amazing array of nail polish shades, and right now you can buy 3 single nail polishes for just $25 – normally 3 polishes would cost $45, so it’s a great deal.

Two shades I am loving are Fire Red, a true fire engine red, and Cadillac Pink, a glittery pink party in a bottle.  I love using contrasting polish textures together.  Fire Red is a cream polish, while Cadillac Pink has a textured finish.

3 in 1 mineral color that makes life easy: Susan Posnick Cosmetics ColorMe in Lilly and Peony

Susan Posnick, the gorgeous makeup artist to stars such as Cindy Crawford, Diane Lane, and Amber Valletta, found herself faced with a huge challenge: skin cancer. Instead of slowing her down, her battle with cancer inspired her to create a line of cosmetics with major skin protection that was simple and easy to use. Susan says, “My vision for Susan Posnick Cosmetics is to “Make Beauty Simple” – bringing  real life beauty and sun protection together.”

Susan Posnick Cosmetics is perfect for busy women who don’t have time for lots of fussy products.  She started with her groundbreaking COLORFLO foundation (stay tuned for a Side by Side review of the foundation soon!) and then added more skin-protecting products for lips, cheeks, and eyes in fantastic shades.

The BIZ was sent two COLORME Mineral Colors ($32) to review and I won the arm wrestling match with Marcia (yay!). These are some of the coolest multi-purpose color products I have ever reviewed.

Susan Posnick Mineral ColorMe for eyes and cheeks

Susan Posnick Mineral COLORME for eyes and cheeks

COLORME is a pot of mineral color that has a spongy puff on the top. Color comes out as you press down on the puff. There is also a mirror attached, making this very user-friendly and easy to use in the car (but not while driving, please!) or anywhere else for a quick touch-up. This is the very best blush I have found for those of you who really don’t like or have the time to mess around with makeup.

The COLORME pots - notice the mirror on top

The COLORME pots – notice the mirror on top

The mineral color is infused with vitamins A and E, so it’s good for the skin. I find the color is long-lasting; it even lasted through my hour-long fencing lesson where my head was encased in a helmet that looks like this:

Sure, it protects my eyes from being poked out...but it can be hell on my makeup!

Sure, it protects my eyes from being poked out…but it can be hell on my makeup!

The mineral color has excellent pigmentation so it’s best to apply lightly and layer until for the desired color intensity. I put this right onto my cheeks by pressing the puff against them and it makes for a perfect application that doesn’t even need further blending.

As an eyeshadow, I either use a brush or if I am in a hurry I simply use the edge of the sponge and pat on the color. It can be used as a lip color too –press a finger or a lip brush onto the sponge, pat the color on the lips then finish with a little clear lip gloss or lip conditioner.

Peony is a true pink that was inspired by Zooey Deschanel. This is a brighter blush shade and makes for an awesome lip color.

Other color options include:

  • Camelia- an elegant peached pink, angelic with subtle shimmer. (Inspired by Kate Hudson)
  • Ginger- a subtle bronzed glow, like warmth from the sun after a luxurious day at the beach. (Inspired by Angie Harmon)
  • Lotus Sun- a gorgeous sun-kissed coral with glimmers of silver and gold. (Inspired by Charlize Theron)
  • Scarlett- a deep flush, fresh from a brisk walk in Central Park.(Inspired by Jennifer Hudson)
  • Orchid- a beautiful mulberry wash, giving an exotic bloom to the skin. (Inspired by Scarlett Johansson)
