Bioderma’s 3 Micellar Water formulas wow me

Bioderma Micellar Waters

Bioderma Micellar Waters

You’ve probably read about Micellar Water many times but if you are like me then you don’t quite understand exactly what it is and how it does its magic. Without going into too much detail a micellar water contains micelle cleansing molecules that pull away dirt and oil. Put it on a disposable cotton pad and wipe your face with it. A good micellar water won’t feel tacky nor will it need rinsing. Your makeup will be removed without any harshness.

I’ve been a fan of Bioderma Micellar Water since Beautylish finally started carrying it. Up until these samples were sent, I only bought Sensibio H2O and I’ve bought a lot of it. I’ve been thrilled with the chance to learn about two other micelle solutions from Bioderma: Hydrabio H2O and Sebium H2O.

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Make-up removing micelle solution, sensitive skin

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Make-up removing micelle solution, sensitive skin

After having the chance to try all three I’ve realized that I made the right choice when I bought Sensibio H2O. It’s the one made for sensitive skin and the one that I personally think will suit almost everyone. This is fragrance free while the other two have a slight fragrance to them. It’s so gentle on my skin and removes my makeup well. I can use it on my eyes too but if I’ve got a lot of mascara on then I’m really better off using a separate eye makeup remover.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O (also known as Créaline H2O) is a no-rinse micellar cleanser and makeup remover specially formulated for sensitive, normal to dry skin types. It can even remove water-resistant face and eye makeup! A soothing emollient thanks to cucumber extract, it clears up irritated skin and produces a feeling of instant freshness. Fragrance-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and hypoallergenic.

How do you know if you have sensitive skin to choose Sensiblo H2O?  If your skin becomes dehydrated easily and that dryness leads to a tight feeling, that’s sensitive skin. Most of us think of sensitive skin as being reactive to ingredients, and it often is, but it’s also from dryness according to Bioderma. Sensibio products are suitable for all sensitive and reactive skin types.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O is available in 100ml, 250 ml, and 500 ml bottles. I’ve taken the 100 ml bottle on trips and I buy the 500 ml size for home use. Occasionally Beautylish will carry the 500 ml bottle with a pump top that makes it even easier to use.

Hydrabio H2O is also a great choice for me and the one I’ll use more this coming winter. It was created for sensitive, dehydrated skin. In the winter the elements make my skin even more dry and dehydrated so while this works well in summer, it’s going to be the perfect solution for winter.

What makes this a little different is that Hydrabio H2O contains Aquagenium , an exclusive biological patent retrains the skin to activate its natural moisturising capacities by stimulating the production of aquaporins, water channels in the skin, and retain the water it needs to be balanced.

Hydrabio H2O has a light fragrance to it. I don’t find it lingers and only notice it when I’m first using it for removal. It too is non-comedogenic, alcohol-free, and hypoallergenic. This is an excellent choice for fragile sensitive skin since it stimulates moisture.

The third choice is Sebium H2O, a micellar water that is recommended for combination or oily skin. If you have pores that become clogged or have breakouts you want Sebium H2O in your repertoire. It contains Fluidactiva patented sebo-correcting complex, it biologically regulates sebum quality to keep the pores from becoming clogged and clear up the skin.

Bioderma Sebium H2O

Other ingredients that help purify skin and limit sebaceous secretion are zinc gluconate and copper sulphate. Sebioum H2O is hypoallergenic, paraben free, alcohol free, and soap free. There is no coloring in spite of the light blue shade. The light fragrance is a bit medicinal but it doesn’t linger.

Prices on the Bioderma Micellar Waters found at Beautylish are very reasonable with 100 ml costing $6.90, 250 ml costing $11.90, and 500 ml priced at $16.90. They aren’t refillable so I usually buy several at a time so that I have this on hand. Sensiblo H2O is definitely my favorite but what about you? Which one would you feel is best for your skintype?  —  Marcia

Dr. Brandt skincare – the way to start a new you for a new year

dr brand logoAs the year ends and we start making our resolutions for 2016 the Beauty Info Zone bloggers talked about using only the best skin care for the year. We noticed (when looking at our driver’s licenses, not the mirror) that we are getting older. We don’t want anyone to look at us and realize it so we made a promise to each other to learn about new skincare and use what works best. Dr. Brandt skin care fits smack dab in that category and we’re so happy to have received some products for review. Dr. Brandt Skincare really doesn’t need an introduction since it’s long been used and trusted. He was a pioneer in his field and not only practiced as a dermatologist but developed his skincare line to repair the signs of skin damage, combat the signs of advancing age gracefully, and maintain the most youthful skin possible. We agree with that philosophy are look forward to introducing you to some newer products that you may not know about.

One of the newer skincare lines at Dr. Brandt is XYY otherwise known as Xtend Your Youth. This line is meant for age defense, anti-stress, and as an anti-oxidant. Just the group (XYY) calls to me.

Dr. Brandt Xtend Your Youth Dual Fusion Water

Dr. Brandt Xtend Your Youth Dual Fusion Water

Dr. Brandt Xtend Your Youth Dual Fusion Water is a double duty product. It’s a cleanser as well as a makeup remover. It’s safe for all skin types and has been both dermatology tested and opthamology tested. What makes Dual Fusion Water unique among the micellar waters that you’ve read so much about, is that this is also a toner.

The Dual Fusion Water gently removes all makeup, even your eye makeup, without any stinging. All you need is some cotton squares (like the ones Shiseido or DHC sell) and this bottle of magic.

  • removes oil, impurities & make-up residue
  • gently & effectively removes even waterproof make-up
  • may help support skin’s natural defense system against free radicals & external aggressors
  • leaves skin purified & revitalized

If you know me from reviews, you know I don’t like fragranced products and choose fragrance free when at all possible. I was thrilled to find that XXY Dual Fusion Water has no fragrance. I use it at different times of the day. In the morning if I have cleansed well the night before then I just squeeze some of the Dual Fusion Water on my cotton pad and refresh my face before adding any skincare. I’ve been using this every evening too in one of two ways – 1) to remove my makeup when I’m too tired to wash my face and 2) as a toner on the nights I do my proper cleansing

This micellar water does it all for me – it traps oil, removes impurities and makeup residues. It’s not sticky and it doesn’t interfere with any of the skincare I chose to use. My skin never feels stripped either. I learned that the PH range of this micellar water is between five and six to promote a healthy PH balance. This has been a great find for me and getting a lot of love.

LISA’S using OXYGEN FACIAL FLASH RECOVERY MASK

You know how sometimes you look in the mirror and realize your skin just looks tired? Or perhaps you were out too late the night before, or had one too many cocktails, and your skin is totally telling on you. The Oxygen Facial Flash Recovery Mask ($69) is the perfect antidote to sad looking skin.

The packaging is pretty cool – it looks like a big pill, but the bottom is flat so it stands up fine by itself. The facial mask is a lotion that you spread in a thin layer over cleansed skin. Whatever you do, don’t rub it in! That ruins the effect. Just lightly spread it on and watch in wonder while it bubbles up as the oxygen activates. It’s very cooling and soothing, and after about three minutes the bubbles start to dissipate.

That’s when you know it’s time to wash it off with warm water. After, apply your regular serum and moisturizer. You won’t believe how awesome your skin looks right away – hydrated and refreshed and just plain healthy. Just check out the clinical test results:

Research results:
In a clinical test conducted on 25 volunteers over 2 weeks:
Instant results after the first application:
– 96% reported that skin looks rested and fresh
– 92% reported that skin looks more radiant and luminous

Results after using twice daily for 2 weeks:
– 100% reported that product purifies asphyxiated and fatigued skin
– 100% reported that skin feels supple and smooth
– 96% reported that skin feels more hydrated and clarified

The Oxygen Facial Flash Recovery Mask  is a winner all around. The packaging is super cool, the mask is fascinating to use, and the effect on skin is wonderful. It’s  a great way to start off the new year!!

My beauty blogger influenced buys

Makeup Wars is back with a topic near and dear to me. It”s all about how other bloggers have influenced us in our purchases. Near and dear? Yes because I read dozens of blogs a day and I communicate with a lot of bloggers so they usually have me on my toes and opening my wallet. Two of my “influensters” are Phyrra and Blushing Noir but they aren’t the only ones who my credit card companies call to thank.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O and Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

Bioderma Sensibio H2O and Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

The two products I am showing you today are the ones I use daily and I’m so glad that my fellow bloggers showed me the way.
FIRST we have BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector which was purchased because of Gouldylox aka Kelly. She’s been a bad influence on me for a long time but when I read her review of the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector I knew I had to buy it ASAP. When she first reviewed it it was sold out everywhere but when it came back into stock I jumped.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector ($29) is a very light peach cream corrector. It’s not a concealer, it’s a corrector. It has a luminous quality to it. For me it hides dark circles just about better than anything I’ve tried. It’s not that I don’t have peach correctors that I like because this isn’t the only one I use but it’s by far my favorite and the one I reach for when it’s time to look rested, line free and ready for the rest of my face makeup.

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

Some people use this as a base for concealer but for me it’s perfect on its own and I can apply my foundation or CC Cream without anything else. Because of its luminosity (it’s infused with ultrafine light-reflecting illuminators) I only use it under my eyes and rely on another concealer for redness especially around my nose.

 Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector

It’s a firm texture but using the warmth of my fingers makes it just glide on. I’m so in love!! You can find this at Sephora, beauty.com and Amazon. Just find it!

My second love is Bioderma Sensibio H2O which has been raved about by so many bloggers. On one of our group posts almost every blogger raved about it and I felt left out (oh boo hoo). Finally I read Pammy’s review (Pammy Blogs Beauty) and I rushed to Beautylish and bought it.

A Micellar Water is hard for me to understand to be honest. It looks like regular water but it has magical powers (I’m prone to exaggeration at times). The Bioderma Micellar Water is a fragrance free facial cleanser that helps remove your makeup or just freshen your skin. There are two formulas with Sensibio H2O being the one for sensitive skin. It’s specially formulated for sensitive, normal to dry skin types.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O

Bioderma Sensibio H2O

What I do is put some on a cotton pad and use that to wash my face. I bought the one in the collage which is one 500 mg bottle and the travel size bottle as a bonus ($19.95). Even though I’m nowhere near done I know I’m buying the next package that contains two 500 mg bottles plus a 250 mg bottle for $39.90. If you aren’t sure that this is for you then start with the 250 mg bottle at $13.95.  I doubt I’ll be buying anymore facial wipes now since Bioderma Micellar Water gets my face cleaner and leaves behind no residue at all. My face is softened and cleansed. Some people use this as an eye makeup remover but it’s usually not powerful enough for me to remove mascara.bioderma 1
BIODERMA SENSIBLO H2O is “A soothing emollient thanks to cucumber extract, it clears up irritated skin and produces a feeling of instant freshness. Fragrance-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and hypoallergenic”.
What do you think of my two choices? Have you tried either? Have I tempted you to spend on these? Since I wholeheartedly love these I’d feel no qualms if you did buy them. — Marcia

Beauty Trends of 2015 – Makeup Wars edition

MAKEUP WARS is getting trendy. We decided to look into some of the trends we see for 2015. I’ve chosen 3 trends: Micellar Waters, matte lipsticks and contouring. These are the things I’m seeing over and over in blogs, on cosmetics sites and in magazines. I haven’t used a lot of these products but they all appeal to me in one way or the other.
*************************************************************************************
MICELLAR WATERS
First let’s talk about Micellar Waters since that’s not a term most people know. I’m no expert on it but the way I see these is that they are a form of cleansing. It can be a water or a lotion. They micro-emulsify impurities so that your skin is left both soft and cleansed.
1425153019_300SIMPLE SKINCARE MICELLAR CLEANSER WATER Simple® Micellar Cleanser Water is our most advanced yet gentle cleanse to date.  It is made with skin-loving ingredients, including Vitamin B3 and C, and Triple Purified Water, our purest possible water, to help remove contaminants known to irritate skin. I found this at drugstore.com but I’m sure it’s available at other retailers that sell the Simple Skincare line. At $6.99 for a bottle it’s a great way to find out if this is a product you want to introduce into your life.
1425152959_2236353__detail_?1425152959LA ROCHE-POSAY Physiological Micellar Solution ($20.99) is a 3 in 1 product since it cleanses, tones and can be used on a cotton pad as a makeup remover. There is no soap in this micellar solution and La Roche-Posay is a well known trusted brand. What makes this one unique is that they use their thermal water as the base for this solution.
1425152891_16030430801BIODERMA SENSIBIO (Crealine) H2O MICELLE SOLUTION is the hottest brand around when it comes to Micellar Water. This has gotten raves in Europe for so long and travelers always made sure that it was in their suitcases when they came home. It’s available on StrawberryNET.com and will be back in stock at Beautylish.com soon. Because this is also recommended for sensitive skin you can use this as an eye makeup remover as well as a cleansing solution.
1425152684_0000038_micellar-lotion_450EMBRYOLISSE MICELLAR LOTION – This is the one I have. The last time I was at IMATS this was one of the featured items from Embryolisse and I was so anxious to finally try a Micellar Water. This is a little thicker than the typical one and it does have a fragrance yet it can be used for eyes, lips and face. “This Micellar Lotion is so gentle it is suitable for even the most sensitive skin – it contains micelles (gentle cleansing agents) in solution in cornflower, camomile and witch-hazel water, combined with glycerin to soften, soothe and tone the skin.”
 *************************************************************************************
MATTE LIPSTICK
1425152566_2226183__detail_?1425152566NYX COSMETICS MATTE LIP CREAM – NYX also makes matte lipstick but I’m more attracted to the lip cream since it doesn’t show lines quite as much. At $5.99 (and often sales) NYX is a good way to find out if you like a matte lip. My one warning about wearing mattes is that your lips need to be exfoliated and prepped with a lip balm.
1425152493_265x265xlovely_off_copy.jpg.pagespeed.ic.gz-vsnrxx9ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS LIQUID LIPSTICK is the talk of the town. Instagram is loaded with pictures and talk of this liquid matte. Many people bought them early at IMATS and that started the buzz. It’s a very intense and highly pigmented product. ($20)
1425152435_82JORDANA COSMETICS MATTE LIPSTICK is the one to try if you are taking baby steps. There are 35 shades available at $1.49 each. Yes, slightly more than a Snickers bar.
1425152379_0607845024576NARS VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL is my favorite of any matte lip product. I’ve had some for years. It combines my love for lip crayons with some terrific Nars shades like Roman Holiday, Sex Machine and Red Dragon. There are 18 shades ($26).
1425152326_0607845010111NARS SEMI MATTE LIPSTICK – Nars is popular for lipsticks in general and their matte lipsticks stand out from the crowd. The Semi-Matte lipsticks aren’t quite as drying in my opinion and have a little more life to them. The 13 shades ($27) are hydrating and highly pigmented.
1425152274_0607845035091NARS PURE MATTE LIPSTICK is their newest addition and these are truly matte and truly pigmented. Better have exfoliated and smooth lips with these beauties to let them do their job well.  They contain wild mango butter, known to provide advanced moisturizing properties to repair dryness and scaling, and Vitamin E and açai oil for antioxidant benefits. ($27, 18 shades)
 *************************************************************************************
CONTOURING is going to take over the world in 2015. Every brand is coming out with a contouring palette or repromoting them. What has Kim Kardashian done to this world??
1425152201_282NYX HIGHLIGHT CONTOUR PRO PALETTE ($25) has a little bit of everything since it has both highlighting and contouring shades.1425152116_web_cocoacontour_composite_2TOO FACED COCOA CONTOUR ($40) has that cocoa scent that people are going crazy over. Too Faced is well known for their bronzers and they’ve expanded that to a contour set that has 4 shades (3 shades of cocoa and a pop of light) and that cute little buki brush.
1425152075_265x265xlight_med_main.jpg.pagespeed.ic.unscl4upwkANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS CONTOUR KIT – Anastasia has a Contour Kit that you can find at places like Sephora and Ulta ($40). It’s available in 3 shades: Light to Medium, Medium to Tan, and Tan to Deep. In addition on their website they have a $150 Contour Book with all 29 of their shades that would normally sell for $14 each.
1425152029_cover-fx-contour-kit-g-light-mediumCOVER FX CONTOUR KIT ($48) is available in 6 different palettes. The consistency of this is creamy and is supposed to be very easy to blend because of that. It comes with a card showing placement that is quite helpful. Each of the 6 combos have a Highlight Shade (1): brightens and enhances features. Illuminating Highlight Shade (2): reflects light for added glow. Contour Shade (3): defines and visibly slenderizes. Deep Contour Shade (4): offers a more dramatic effect.

The one I forgot to put in my collage is from IT Cosmetics and it’s MY SCULPTED FACE

IT Cosmetics My Sculpted Face Contour Palette

IT Cosmetics My Sculpted Face Contour Palette

My Sculpted Face is the first contour product I ever bought ($38). It’s said to be a universal kit. It uses IT Cosmetics anti-aging formula and it comes with a guide to help you along.

What do you think are the trends of 2015? Are you a fan of contouring, matte lipsticks and/or micellar waters? I’d love to know. — Marcia

I’m curious to see what my fellow makeup war bloggers think are the new beauty trends. I have a g.c. waiting in the wings!!
