Welcome to the world of Rodan + Fields Redefine System and Redefine Acute Care. It’s been rocking my world lately along with a lot of bloggers. This was provided by the iFabbo shop and we are all raving about it.
My experience with Rodan + Fields goes back at least 5 years. Just before I began blogging on Beauty Info Zone I became a seller of Rodan + Fields skincare. I used it religiously for a year but decided to bow out of selling since that wasn’t part of my passion. I did have passion for the skincare and using it again reminded me why.
Rodan + Fields has several different regimens but I originally Acute Care was only available with Redefine. As much as I’m enjoying the Redefine System again, it’s the new Acute Care for Expression Lines that has won me over.
REDEFINE is the regimen for women with lines, pores and loss of firmness and comes with 4 products:
Refine Daily Cleansing Mask is your first step. This is both a cleanser and a mask. It’s truly gentle enough to use daily. Apply it to your face and let it sit for a few minutes. I like to use this just before my shower so that it’s easier to wash off. It never hardens completely so you don’t feel like your face is about to crack. It has gentle dimethicone microbeads that create the exfoliation along with kaolin clay. It gets my face sparkling clean and leaves no residue.
Next step is the Pore Minimizing Toner. This toner is what got me restarted using toner after skipping it for several years. I felt then and now that this helped to restore the pH balance to my face and got me ready for more skincare.
There are two moisturizers in the kit. Triple Defense Moisture with Broadspectrum SPF 30 is for daytime while Overnight Restorative Cream is obviously for night time use but they really are interchangeable. Both have a mild floral fragrance and are creamy to the touch. I don’t like fragranced products but Rodan + Fields has never bothered me. I also use a serum prior to applying these two products.
Now for the fun part and what sets Redefine apart from the crowd – Acute Care for Expression Lines.
ACUTE CARE is a set of 10 packets with two pads in each. They are totally different than any eye mask or pad I’ve ever used. First you can use them wherever you have expression lines for example where you have crow’s feet or “smile” lines. Second, you leave them on for about 8 hours though the time is up to you. Use these 2 to 3 times per week for one month.
The first time I used them I made a big mistake and put them under my eyes. The skin there is far too delicate for this purpose and another type of treatment is better in that position. It was very uncomfortable under my eyes and I was questioning what I’d gotten myself into! I then began using them on my crow’s feet and oh my, what a difference they made. I chose to wear them on the days I was home all day or home for at least 8 hours and wasn’t wearing any cosmetics.
I attached these carefully at the sides of my eyes making sure that my eyelashes didn’t get in the way since I was usually working around the house. Once I had them in a comfortable place I ran my finger up and down to ‘seal’ them. As R+F tells us “REDEFINE ACUTE CARE™ smooths wrinkles with proprietary Liquid Cone Technology that melts line-defying peptides and hyaluronic acid directly into the wrinkle for a more youthful appearance.”
At first I could feel them on and the little cones inside felt like they were gently pricking my skin. Within a very short time though I barely noticed them on. I chose not to sleep in them because I don’t like taking a chance with my insomnia and I love my nighttime skincare and wanted to continue that.
When I removed these I noticed a little whiteness from the peptides and hyaluronic acid but washing my face with a soft cloth removed that right away. I really noticed the difference the next morning and it would last for a few days.
I happened to go to the dermatologist this week and I mentioned them to her. Even though her office does procedures like Botox and fillers she felt that these were a great product for many people, especially anyone with an eye disease like Myasthenia Gravis or someone on blood thinners. She listed a variety of people that she’d recommend Acute Care for so that really impressed me.
Both of these systems are ones I’d recommend (and no I don’t sell this anymore) but what I plan on buying are the Acute Care patches for Expression Lines. After using them for one month, it’s recommended that you wait 2-3 months and use them again if needed. They aren’t inexpensive ($220 for the box) but this is something I’d like to continue.
Have you tried any Rodan + Fields products? Would you consider relieving yourself of expression lines?? — Marcia
