This is the baby that saved my face after what I call baby week. You’d think that I was the pregnant one instead of my daughter-in-law the way I was stressed out. I was (am) beyond excited; my stomach was twisting and turning, I wasn’t sleeping, I couldn’t think straight. I needed detox so I turned once again to EmerginC Phytocell Detox Mask by Scientific Organics. This mask has been in my rotation for several months now since receiving it for review. I’ve used it quite a few times but never needed it like I did this past weekend.
EmerginC Phytocell Detox Mask is meant to draw out the impurities leaving your skin radiant and glowing. It does that with an amazing group of natural ingredients: French green clay, kombucha, grape stem cells, algae extract, glycerin, brightening complex with xylose and galactose from palmaria palmata, food grade seaweed.
Let’s talk about a few of these. KOMBUCHA (according to the ever wise Wikipedia) is a lightly effervescent fermented drink of sweet tea. It’s full of helpful enzymes, amino acids and polyphenols. Applied topically, kombucha has been said to assist with signs of aging by lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
FRENCH GREEN CLAY is used in spas all the time. Clay is known for drawing out impurities.
GRAPE STEM CELLS – grapes are being used more and more often in skincare since it’s similar to our own skin cells. It’s very high in anti-oxidants. Proanthocyanidins—a group of polyphenolic bioflavonoids found in grape seeds and their stem cells—are responsible for its powerful antioxidant effect and its anti-tumor activity. They have also demonstrated the ability to protect the skin’s own endogenous antioxidant mechanism, providing superior radical-quenching.*
I apply this mask and let it work its magic for 15 minutes. The fragrance at first is very clay like but there’s also a bit of a citrus smell to it. It doesn’t leave behind any fragrance once washed off. It sets and hardens but it’s not so much that you can’t talk or laugh. You might look a little funny with a lightly tinted green face but you can still go about your life without worrying that it’s going to slide off. It washes off easily so it’s easy to use.
The result is that my skin looks more radiant for the next few days. The flakies are gone and my pores don’t look as big. While this isn’t inexpensive at $50 for a 1.76 oz/ml jar, it’s going to last a long time since you just don’t need that much. Normally I’d say that my face feels as smooth as a baby’s butt but have you touched a baby’s butt lately? There’s nothing quite that smooth. In the meantime, this is a great alternative especially with the stress of the holidays. What have you been using to detox?? — Marcia
