Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation wants to be in your makeup wardrobe

Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation

Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation

Mally Beauty has new foundation! I was sent the 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation in the lightest of the five available shades (Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Rich) and it’s been gracing my face for the last few weeks. This is going to be worn continuously in the fall weather.

Foundation and concealer have been on my wishlist for the last few months. I want to try them all and wear them all so the timing of receiving this 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation was perfect. It’s amazingly lightweight which is not how I think of powder foundations so this breaks the mold.

Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation

Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation

This is a foundation that’s best used with a brush and Mally Beauty has a great buy of the foundation and brush for $38 on QVC.com. The foundation alone, which is only found on QVC, is $33 so I’d advise you to pay the $5 extra.

Mally 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation w/ Brush

Mally 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation w/ Brush

I’ve tried this with many different tools as you can see in the photo. The Beauty Blender sponge wasn’t good for me unless the sponge was bone dry. I found the love of my foundation life with the Artis Oval 10 brush and it loves this Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation. I  like a rounded brush like Mally sells in the set with it just as well.

Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation in Fair

Mally Beauty 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation in Fair, swatched heavily

To use I swirl my foundation brush onto the surface to pick up a small amount of color. Mally recommends apply it like this: “Starting near the back of the ear, begin buffing into the skin all around the perimeter of the face. Then, lightly dust across the forehead, nose, cheeks, and chin. This gives a halo effect that slims the face and leaves skin looking radiant and alive–never flat or dull.” By dusting it this way you aren’t accentuating pores but you will get good coverage.

Not only is this a powder foundation but it can be used as a finishing powder (I like a fluffy loose brush for this purpose) or as a great way to make your liquid foundation become revived at the end of the day. Being a compact it’s easy to carry around without spilling.

So you’re asking yourself “Why do I need a powder foundation?” And I’m telling you that Mally’s 4K Ultra HD Fantasy Foundation is designed to sort of melt into your skin. The powder itself is a blend of superfine powders coated with aloe leaf extract and coconut oil evens skin tone and provides a soft-focus effect. Why not have it all with Mally?  —  Marcia

Making waves with Modern Merbabe the Boxycharm July box

Boxycharm for July 2016

Boxycharm for July 2016

I’m sure you’ve heard of Boxycharm. It’s become my favorite subscription box and the July box shows me why this has made me so happy. Let me start by telling you that a subscription is $21 a month and you’ll receive only full size items. It can be 4 or 5 each month. This month the box has a value of $120. Not a bad investment at all.

Boxycharm for July 2016

Boxycharm for July 2016

As with all subscriptions you may not have bought the items to begin with so the value of $120 may be high but not worth it to you. For me this month’s Boxycharm is a winner and one I’m very excited about.

OFRA PROFESSIONAL MAGNETIC PALETTE AND 6 EYESHADOW PANS

OFRA Magnetic Palette and eyeshadows

OFRA Magnetic Palette and eyeshadows

How could I not be excited about this? I’ve been thinking of buying a new Z palette since mine are almost filled and I’d like to organize better. Not only do I not have to do that but I got 6 gorgeous shadows that would retail for $12 each on their own. These don’t have names imprinted on them and I can’t really tell from the OFRA website but there are 3 beautiful shimmer shadows and 3 mattes. All 6 are very workable shades with the shimmers and the light yellow shade (could be Banana Highlighter Powder) my favorites. They’ve valued this set at $59 but I think they undervalued it since the shadows alone would be $60.

OFRA eyeshadows

OFRA eyeshadows

MALLY BEAUTY is included this month too and I got lucky. Some boxes received an Ice Blue Mally Waterproof Eyeliner pencil ($18) while others got one of two Mally Rounded Blender Brushes ($15). I love brushes so having this green metallic brush is a little piece of heaven.

The brush has longer hairs than my other blending brushes so it’s a great change of pace for me. Into my brush cups this went instantly.

To add to the thrill of this box there’s a NOYAH LIP GLOSS in Malbec ($16), a wine berry shade. I remember when Noyah only had lip balms and I lovingly reviewed them. It’s great to see how far they’ve come. This is a natural lip gloss made without made without sulfates, parabens or phtalates. The packaging is adorable with an earth friendly bamboo top.

To top off the beauty in this sweet box is PYT HAIR Oil Treatment ($30). While I’ve only used it once I was amazed at the shine I suddenly had from the treatment. It’s made with Argan Oil which I already know is great for my skin or hair. It’s safe for color treated hair and it helps leave hair frizz free.

Ingredients: Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Argania spinosa kernel oil, Fragrance (Lilial, D-Limonone, Hydroxycitronellal, Lyral, Geraniol, Citronellol, Coumarin), Triticum vulgare (Wheat) germ oil, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil, Panthenol.

I’m thrilled to learn about this new brand and use it in my routine.

Even though I don’t have a clue why this month’s Boxycharm is called Modern Merbaby (other than they do say “Let’s Make Waves”) I still think it’s one of the best I’ve received from my subscription. Now I can’t wait for another month to pass so I can get my next one. Are you a subscription box fan? — Marcia

Spring for beautiful eyes with Mally and tarte

Spring beauty with tarte rainforest of the sea and Mally Evercolor shadow stick extra

Spring beauty with tarte rainforest of the sea and Mally Evercolor shadow stick extra

In the beauty world there are several ways to change your looks for spring. We can lighten up our skincare and foundation, we can bring new springy shades of lipstick into our makeup wardrobe, and we can check out the newest eye products to create a softer yet brighter eye. For this week’s Makeup Wars, I’ve chosen eye makeup since that’s what I’ll always crave. Two brands are dominating my life right now – Mally Beauty and tarte. I’ve been totally enamored with the products I’m going to show you and finding it hard to move away from them.

Mally provided for consideration, tarte is a self purchase

Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick Extra

Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick Extra

Mally Beauty has created Evercolor Shadow Stick Extra and these are out of this world. Mally’s eyeliners have always been beauty lovers favorites and now they are better than ever. You can line with them, you can use them as an eyeshadow base shade, or you can use them as your eyeshadow. Whichever way you chose you won’t be disappointed.

Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick Extra in Marina, Over the Taupe, and Storm

Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick Extra in Marina, Storm, and Over the Taupe

I have 3 of the 10 shades and am planning a trip to Ulta to check out several other of the shades. The 10 shades are Shimmering Mauve, Royal Plum, Pink Champagne, Burnished Bronze, Champagne, Autumn Shimmer, Chocolate Diamond, Marina, Storm, and Over The Taupe.

Mally (from left) Storm, Marina, Over The Taupe

Mally (from left) Storm, Marina, Over The Taupe

These apply like a breeze. They dry fast but you have enough time to work with them before they are set for the entire day. My favorite way to use these is to start on my lid with a light touch and blend, then use the same shade in the crease and blend so there aren’t harsh lines. That gives me the ombre effect that I love.

Mally Beauty Evercolor Shadow Stick Extra in Over the Taupe

Mally Beauty Evercolor Shadow Stick Extra in Over the Taupe

I don’t want to say I pick favorites but there’s something that’s just over the top about one of these. It makes a beautiful liner and smudges nicely under my eyes as well as being a great all around shade as a base or alone. Check out Ulta and Ulta.com for these beauties. I’ll be there for Champagne and Pink Champagne myself.

tarte Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palette

tarte Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palette

tarte hasn’t drawn me in for a long time. I have a lot of tarte products in my collection and I use them fairly often so most of their newer offerings didn’t grab my attention. But their limited edition Rainforest of the Sea had me at hello.

tarte Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palette

tarte Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palette

Every time I’d see this palette in a blog post or ad I’d drool over it. This has been a perfect spring palette for me because I’m feeling better in a softer eye now that winter is almost gone for good. The colors in this palette are all subdued and slightly heathery. Mermaid (gold), Seashell (pink), Wave (slate), Abyss (dark brown), Reef (copper), Starfish (bronze), Cove (tan), Sand (ivory). They don’t apply as dark as they appear in the palette.

tarte Rainforest of the Sea

tarte Rainforest of the Sea

It was hard to get good clean swatches since the shades are subtle so these are several passes over primer.tarte rainforest of the sea swatch 5Seashell, the top pink, is the shade that holds this palette together for me. I love it on my lid with Sand (ivory) on my browbone. Any of the other shades are what I chose to complement the pink.

The texture of tarte Rainforest of the Sea is one of the nicest ones that tarte has done. The shades are metallic or matte, no glitter seen here. They are very creamy to the touch and apply with minimal fallout. Rainforest of the Sea is a Sephora exclusive that I’m happy is living with me. — Marcia

Favorite setting products – powders and sprays

Do you have products that help you finish your makeup each day? That’s what Top Ten Tuesday is about this week. There are some great products available for this job and I’ve picked the favorites that I’ve used. When I’m done I hope you’ll share some of yours with me.

I have to start with IT COSMETICS since I talk about the brand all the time. The product that I’ve used up twice is IT COSMETICS BYE BYE PORES aka Bye Bye Pores Silk HD Anti-Aging Micro-Powder. Once I discovered this powder I stopped using the drawer full I had from Laura Mercier, Kevyn Aucoin, and more. I still use those occasionally but they aren’t in my top ten! Silky soft and it does blur my pores just like it says it will.

Once they came out with Bye Bye Pores Airbrush Silk Pressed Anti-Aging Finishing Powder I had to buy that too.  This pressed powder is great for travel and on the go.

Purely Cosmetics Diamond Perfect Finish Powder is fabulous. I love this powder and am currently on my second one. Powder takes forever and a day for me to finish so the fact that I’ve gone through one and a half jars of this speaks for itself. Diamond Finish sets my makeup, blurs my pores, and gives me a beautiful finish that isn’t matte.

One more loose powder in this group: Pixi Beauty Quik Fix Powder in Translucid wins for the best packaging as well as being a great powder. This is very lightweight and invisible on my skin. It contains great ingredients like aloe vera and cucumber extract to smooth along with grape extract which acts as an antioxidant.

Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is really a cheat since it’s not a powder or a spray but it’s a staple in my cosmetic wardrobe. It has a very unusual texture and gives a matte finish. It’s wonderful for blurring fine lines and pores. There’s no dryness like powder can give.

Mally Beauty Poreless Face Defender

Now on to the sprays. Skindinavia has two sprays that I have to recommend: Makeup Primer Spray and the Makeup Finishing Spray are both wonderful. Other brands like Urban Decay sell these but they are made by Skindinavia. The Primer Spray is just like it sounds. Spray this one after your skincare is on and it helps deliver a smoother finish for your foundation. The Finishing Spray is to be applied after all your makeup is on and it helps keep your makeup in place for the day. It’s especially great for being outdoors. They even make this in Oil Control and a Bridal version.

Skindinavia The Makeup Primer Spray

A much less expensive version is  Hard Candy Fast & Fabulous Makeup Setting Spray at Walmart. This is only $6.30 compared to the $30ish prices of Skindinavia. It’s not bride proof but it’s a good way to see if a spray is for you.

When I was in the midst of hot flashes I relied on Youngblood Minerals in the Mist. I was at IMATS and I looked like someone had dropped a bucket of water on me. I was shopping at Youngblood and they recommended it in Refresh for me and it saved the trip. I carried it around with me to refresh my skin. I’ve since used it up but if I ever go through that misery again, I’d repurchase.

A few other bloggers have joined this week’s challenge. I’m interested in learning more. Are you? — Marcia

Get triple hydration with Mally H3 Lip Gloss

Mally Beauty needs no introduction. We all know and love Mally with her bubbly personality and wonderful products. We love it even more when new products are introduced though and today we have Mally H3 Lip Glosses that are unlike any that Mally has ever introduced us to.

Mally H3 Lip Glosses

Mally H3 Lip Glosses

There are 6 total shades: Pink Daisy, Shimmering Nude, Sweet Peach, Tea Rose, Perfect Nude and Orchid Berry. All six can be found at Ulta.com for $20 each plus at QVC there’s a trio for $36. We were lucky enough to be sent 2 of these to do a Side by Side review but we think we are going to be buying more of these ASAP.

H3 stands for the triple hydration these glosses give you. “Get enviable, fierce coverage with this ultra-moisturizing high-shine gloss that is formulated with antioxidants and plenty of moisture, leaving your lips full and sparkling.”

MARCIA and her TEA ROSE H3 GLOSS

Mally H3 Gloss in Tea Rose

Mally H3 Gloss in Tea Rose

Tea Rose is such a Marcia color. I’m crazy about Tea Rose. What makes me even happier though is that Mally’s new H3 glosses feel so different from other glosses. Their triple hydration makes them feel so soft and moisturized. In general I’m not a lip gloss person like my partner Lisa. She looks so fabulous in glosses and loves them to pieces. I prefer a lipstick or liquid lipstick. But Mally has taken that bias away with this gloss.

Tea Rose in artificial light

Tea Rose indirect sunlight

Tea Rose is the perfect pinky peach with a small amount of sparkle to it that can’t be felt but that brings my lips to life. This is the shade that I always seek when shopping. This H3 gloss isn’t sticky at all. Even though Tea Rose is a fairly light shade, it imparts plenty of color and I can wear it alone or with a lipliner. I have to thank Mally for bringing out this new formula and ask her to create more “gorgois” shades.

LISA and her BERRY ORCHID H3 GLOSS

I definitely am a lip gloss person…I always need lots of slip on my lips. If my lips feel dry I get very antsy…in fact, I don’t even care if it’s rude, I put my lip gloss any time, anywhere because the alternative drives me batty. Most of my lip glosses are in the berry family so I had a feeling I was going to be happy with the Berry Orchid shade.

Mally Berry Orchid H3 Gloss

Mally Berry Orchid H3 Gloss

Berry Orchid is actually much deeper than I expected from the bottle. It has a slight shimmer that’s very pretty. My only issue with this gloss is the doe foot wand applies too much gloss for my thin lips. If I’m not careful, I find lots of gloss in the corners of my mouth – which is not a good look. So I’m careful to kind of scrape the doe foot along the side of the container as I pull it out, which solves the ‘corner gloss’ problem.

Mally Berry Orchid H3 Gloss

Mally Berry Orchid H3 Gloss

Mally H3 Gloss lives up to the triple hydrating, giving me soft and hydrated lips. The wear time is normal for a non-sticky gloss. While it would be awesome if it lasted longer, I still love this gloss and wear it all the time.  Nicely done Mally!

My favorite foundations for winter – Top 10 Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday has rolled around again and I’m excited to be sharing my favorites for foundation. I have more than on my list but just as important as my favorites are my two tools of choice so that took two spots. I purposely left out CC Creams even though I will use them in the winter but I wanted to stick with foundations for a change.

These are in no particular order. These are all sitting on my vanity right now! I may not be neat but I’m happy!!
1.
BOBBI BROWN INTENSIVE SKIN SERUM FOUNDATION is pretty new to me and pretty impressive too. It has SPF 40 in it and is available in 18 shades plus it’s very forgiving. I’ve been wanting a serum foundation and the one I bought from Armani a few years ago never felt right. The makeup artist I went to loves this foundation and gave me a sample. That brought me back to buy it. It’s very lightweight and you wouldn’t expect it to hide imperfections but it does. It feels great on my skin too.
2.
TOO FACED BORN THIS WAY ABSOLUTE PERFECTION FOUNDATION just moved into my house last week. I keep reading about it and Sephora F&F finally put me over the edge. I’ve worn it twice which really isn’t enough to put it on a list but both times I was quite happy with the way it looked and lasted. This $38 foundation comes in 18 shades and is oil-free. I love that it has ingredients to help with hydration (coconut water and hyaluronic acid are two).
3.
IT COSMETICS O2 O2 ULTRA REPAIR LIQUID OXYGEN FOUNDATION ($38) was my foundation favorite of the year for 2014 and remains a favorite 11 months later. I’m a huge fan of IT Cosmetics but with all brands some products are better than others. This is a ‘better than others’ foundation. Fair matches me perfectly but it only is available in 5 shades which might be a problem for some. One of the biggest reasons to love IT is their anti-aging ingredients (Peptides, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Niacin, Hyaluronic Acid and Grape Seed Oil plus Vitamins A, C, & E). This is actually a serum foundation which I didn’t realize until I was typing this up!!
4.
SENNA LASTING ILLUSION FOUNDATION* has been one that I’ve counted on for an airbrushed finish for almost two years. This is a fuller coverage than most of the others I own and there are many days and occasions that I crave that coverage. It’s a matte satin that reflects light away from imperfections. Senna isn’t talked about enough but in my opinion people are missing out on this great Hollywood indie brand. ($48, 7 shades)
5.
MALLY BEAUTY EFFORTLESS AIRBRUSH PERFECT SKIN MOUSSE is another foundation that people need to know about. One of the problems with Mally Beauty is that it’s hard to find – all the great places that carry the line only carry parts of Mally. This is only sold at Mally’s website and it’s worth it to shop there. The coverage with this mousse is perfection. I need so little but I could build it up if necessary. Plus it comes with a fabulous foundation brush that feels wonderful and works like a dream ($45*).
6.
GIORGIO ARMANI LUMINOUS SILK FOUNDATION – there are no words for this foundation. I’ve gone through 3 bottles since I started using it and I’m sure to go through more. It’s available in 23 shades and it’s worth every penny of the $62 cost to me. It’s weightless and oil-free and the coverage is like silk.
7.
RIMMEL LONDON LASTING FINISH FOUNDATION is the opposite in cost from Armani and not similar to it in finish, but it’s the best drugstore foundation I’ve ever bought. The problem with drugstores is being unable to test colors but I got lucky with O91 Light Ivory. At first I noticed a perfumey fragrance but once applied I noticed it for about 15 seconds and never again. If you are looking for great coverage to last through the day and you have $6.99 laying around, this is what to spend it on.
8.
GERI G INNOCENT FOUNDATION isn’t known at all. I just reviewed it again along with their Transceutical Canvas so I hope that this comes more to the forefront. It’s a medium coverage that can be built up. On the days I’m looking a little worse for the wear, I turn to this to make my skin look its best. The downside is that it only comes in 4 shades and the swatches on the website aren’t really helpful. ($38)
9.
BEAUTY BLENDER SPONGE is amazing. Don’t accept imitations. I don’t care that it’s $20 while others are much less, this is the one that works. It now comes in many colors like the new royal purple. The black one is called the Pro one but I don’t think it’s any different than my pink ones. Trust me when I tell you that this could change your makeup application.
10.
ARTIS OVAL 10 ELITE BRUSH* has become holy grail to me. It changes your paradigm about what a foundation brush is and you won’t want to look back. The softness, the bristles (2500 of them!), the ergonomics, and the luxuriousness of this $72 brush make it worth the high cost. If was told I could just take a few items out of my house this would be high up on the list. It’s that precious. Review here.

Adding to your concealer wardrobe with Mally Beauty

Have you heard the term “concealer wardrobe”? It’s part of the new lingo that beauty buffs are using in describing beauty techniques. A concealer wardrobe is just like your clothes wardrobe but it is all about concealers and correctors. Just like you don’t usually wear the same undergarments every day, you shouldn’t necessarily wear the same products under your foundation. Part of a concealer wardrobe is knowing the best product for the job. Concealers are not a “one size fits all” type of beauty product.

Beauty Info Zone was happy when Mally Beauty shared an amazing concealer with us so that we can show you what’s been added to our concealer wardrobes and what we like about these babies.

MARCIA and MALLY BEAUTY DARK CIRCLE CORRECTOR in LIGHTER

The Dark Circle Corrector is available on QVC as a set of two for $30.  You can find it HERE.

Mally Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter

Mally Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter

The Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter is like a magic wand for me. It has an applicator that’s like a shower head, twist and the concealer/corrector squiggles out. I love that I can control the amount that I need.

Mally Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter

Mally Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter

Here’s how I cocktail this: I start with a peach cream corrector shade under my eyes similar in shade to Mally Beauty Cancellation Concealer. Once that’s blended I then apply Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter as seen below.

Mally Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter application method

Blend that with a concealer brush or a the skinny tip of a Beauty Blender and I’m concealed for the day. It’s amazing how great this combination works to cover my dark circles.

Mally Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter blended

Mally Dark Circle Corrector in Lighter blended

From what I’ve read this was formulated with a special brightening pigment that helps disguise colors like red, blue, purple or darkness under your eyes. It brightens your undereye area so that nothing plagues your look. I’m thrilled to have this addition to my concealer wardrobe.

LISA’S SIDE

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia…as usual you are RIGHT!!!!!!! I love this concealer too – it is freaking amazing. In fact it has become my favorite concealer ever. I even brought it to work one day to show my coworkers.

Mally Dark Circle Corrector

Mally Dark Circle Corrector

I have very dark under eye circles so I tend to gravitate toward heavy concealers. I need lots of coverage and lots of light reflection, otherwise I look perpetually tired. I thought the Mally Dark Circle Corrector was not going to have enough coverage since it’s a very lightweight cream, but it totally surprised me.

FOD with the Mally Dark Circle Corrector

FOD with the Mally Dark Circle Corrector

I dot this on underneath my eyes, and also smooth some under my eyebrows and down the center of my nose. It blends in beautifully with the Mally Foundation Brush and really covers those dark circles! I love it with the Mally Face Defender BB Cream as my foundation (I reviewed both of these HERE).

By the way, I have skin that is just shy of MEDIUM, and I use the concealer in the shade Lighter. Right now it looks like the concealer is only available in the shade Darker. I don’t know if that’s because Lighter is sold out, but I think the colors are all pretty forgiving. We hope what is available works for you, because we’d love for you to have the same great experience we have had!
