Bronzers for those who don’t wear bronzers

Makeup Wars chose a topic for this week that is totally out of my comfort zone so I was sure I was going to bow out. I don’t fake tan, I don’t use bronzing lotions, and I barely wear bronzing cosmetics. But I gave this more time to come together in my head and I realized that I do wear bronzers every once in a while and the ones I use are so great that I need you to know about them. So I’m here with bronzers for those of you who don’t wear bronzers – I want to change your mind just like I changed mine.

favorite bronzers: IT Cosmetics Confidence in Your Glow, Pixi Beauty Strobe & Bronze, Senna Brilliant Bronze

Right now Pixi Beauty Strobe & Bronze (aka Strobe & Chisel Palette) that was done in collaboration with Maryam Maquillage is what’s gracing my vanity table and therefore my face. I have to tell you how much I love this palette even though I didn’t think of it at first when I thought bronzers. Yes it’s in the name but I don’t use it in the typical bronzer way. I actually just use these 6 shades as highlighters and blush.

Pixi Strobe & Bronze (Strobe & Chisel)

Pixi Strobe & Bronze (Strobe & Chisel)

There are 3 glow shades: Highline, Empress and Lex (peach, pinky lavender, gold) that satisfy my crazy urges for highlighting. I lust after highlighters but I know I’m too old to get away with them. But this palette satisfies my craving because the glow shades add an iridescence without adding glitter. All three are great blush toppers or highlighting shades – and yes I’ve worn them on my eyes.

Pixi Strobe & Bronze (Strobe & Chisel)

The 3 bronze/chisel shades: City Kitty, Statuesque, 917) are bronze without being too brown. The only true bronze in my opinion is Statuesque. City Kitty is a warm matte light brown that looks very natural on my skin while 917 has more of a pink undertone (that’s what my camera was picking up); I’d describe it as a cool light satin brown.

Pixi Strobe & Bronze (Strobe & Chisel)

At $20 Pixi has created a bargain palette that will carry you through all seasons and will work no matter what level of bronzing you prefer.

IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Glow, Nude Glow and Heavenly Skin™ One-Sweep Wonder Brush #705

IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Glow comes in three shades: Nude Glow, Natural Glow, and Warm Glow. Lisa has reviewed these here and I was insanely jealous and insisted that she bring me the one best for my pale complexion. I have gotten so much use out of this that it’s unreal. If I’m not wearing my precious cream blushes then it’s all about Nude Glow.

IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Glow, Nude Glow

This triple threat has a little bit of highlighting, a beautiful blush, and a bronzing shade. I usually start with picking up the blush and applying it, then I’ll take the brush and sweep over all three shades to bring out the bronze and highlight. I make sure to use the brush from left to right to keep the lighter shades cleaner.

IT Cosmetics Confidence In Your Glow, Nude Glow

This is so silky soft that you’ll fall in love with it just for that reason. But remember it contains an anti-aging hydrolyzed collagen, peptides and Vitamin C infused formula. No shimmer in this at all. The brush is another amazing one from IT Cosmetics though you probably have a dual fiber brush you can use. If you want the brush as badly as I wanted it then go to QVC.com to purchase the set for $2 more than the compact alone.

Senna Brilliant Bronze in Dawn

Senna Cosmetics isn’t one that’s talked about much on beauty blogs but it’s a fabulous brand. Brilliant Bronze comes in two shades: Dawn and Sunset. This too is a duo of highlighter and bronzer. The difference between these Senna bronzers and my others is that the Senna is glittery. Dawn is gorgeous for cool toned complexions but I’ll only wear it for “fancy”. I don’t want to glitter in the day but give me a good party and I’m up for it.

Senna Dawn Brilliant Bronze

Senna’s Brilliant Bronze compacts are baked minerals that are said to condition skin with amino acids and nourishing plant proteins.

All three of the above are cruelty free products.

One last one that I couldn’t find for the main photo is a great drugstore find: Covergirl TruBlend Bronzer.

TruBlend Bronzer from Covergirl

TruBlend Bronzer has no shimmer but there’s a satiny finish that gives me some glow. What I love about this is that there’s no orange at all – just a beautiful golden bronze that I can lightly use to perk up my ghostly skin. This came out with the Katy Perry collection in a variety of shades but it seems like just the darkest one, Bronze, is still available.

Makeup splurges for better or worse

What constitutes a makeup splurge? Is it money? Is it the lack of resistance? Is it weakness? I say it all depends on the situation. A splurge can be something that’s $5 or something that’s $100. It’s all what you believe you want rather than just need. Today I’m featuring 7 products that I feel I splurged on. Some are worth every cent, some are regrets. Please check out my choices to see if you agree.  —  Marcia

NATASHA DENONA EYESHADOW PALETTE 10 ($95)

Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 10

This is my most expensive splurge and one I’m on the fence about. $95 is a lot to spend on a palette but it does have 10 gorgeous shades that are outside of my comfort zone to some degree. The shades are #56p Pearl (champagne toned shimmer), #06p Anthrazit (charcoal black with a subtle silver shimmer), #47p Dark Sepia (dark chocolate brown with a slight gold shimmer), #02m Blue Space (rich royal blue with a shimmer finish), #27m Slate (vivid purple shimmer), #19m Deep Teal (intense teal shimmer), #25m Aura (cream white with a gold iridescent finish), #13m Raw Gold (deep gold with a bronze undertone), #87m Light Coral (peach shadow with a subtle gold shimmer), #07m Graphite (dark grey with silver shimmer).

Natasha Denona Eyeshadow Palette 10

As you can see these are all shimmer shades but the extent of the shimmer is unique to each shade. It’s really not the most practical palette because of all the shimmer. The problem for me isn’t the cost though but the quality of the shades isn’t uniform. Some apply easily while others want to fight with me.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE?  Depends, it got me over my Natasha Denona craving and I didn’t buy the more expensive palettes. I like this but I can’t say I love it. (Swatches from Sephora, mine don’t look like this though)

PRETTY VULGAR NIGHTINGALE EYESHADOW PALETTE ($35)

After falling in love with Pretty Vulgar Early Bird Eyeshadow palette I was anxious for more. But I’m a pretty staid individual colorwise so I went with the tried and true. Considering I have 357962 nude and brown palettes did I need this? That’s why it’s a splurge, I don’t need it.

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Eyeshadow Palette

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? I’m the wishy washy queen right now because I haven’t decided. I’ve had it for a few weeks and haven’t touched it. Some of the Early Bird shadows are disappointing and I’m worried that I’ll find that here too. What to do?

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Eyeshadow Palette

DIOR METALIZER – METAL CREME SHADOW ($25)

Once I saw the Dior Metalizers reviewed I couldn’t stop thinking about them. Metallics are hot for fall and I’ve always loved metallics in accessories and cosmetics. I chose Bronze Tension – mistake! It’s too dark and doesn’t blend well on me.

Dior Metalizer Cream Shadow in Bronze Tension

I want to like this so badly that I can taste it. I love to start with a cream shadow and use it as a base or to highlight powders. But I picked the wrong shade. I don’t see any metallic on my eyes with this very dark shade. (inject crying emoji here)

Dior Metalizer Cream Shadow in Bronze Tension

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? Obviously not which saddens me.

STILA HUGE EXTREME LASH MASCARA ($23)

There’s a story behind buying this mascara. I received a sample size in one of my subscriptions and put it aside for a while. When cleaning to move I find it and tried it. I totally fell in love with it. Wearing Stila Huge was like being granted false eyelashes. You know I couldn’t wait to buy this in spite of having umpteen unopened mascaras.

Stila Huge Extreme Mascara

Stila Huge Extreme Mascara

Well … the tube I bought is a dud. Some days my lashes look totally amazing, other days they are a mushy mess. I’ve determined that the problem is that the opening for the wand is too large which makes too much mascara coming out. There’s none of that satisfying sound you hear when opening a tube. Even cleaning it off doesn’t guarantee that I’ll love my lashes that day.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? With mascara you just never know what you’re going to get. One tube can make angels sing, the next tube can make them cry. This makes my lashes cry 50% of the time.

ARTIS PALM BRUSH ($65)

The Artis Palm Brush is absolutely incredible. My words can not describe how much I love this brush and the Artis Oval 10 brush. Yes expensive, yes worth every cent to me. Here’s a description that explains the Palm Brush: “A brush with a generously sized, rounded oval of fibers to provide coverage to a larger areas of the face and body. It features more than 250,000 fibers. Artis brushes are made exclusively with CosmeFibre, a revolutionary engineered fiber made for applying cosmetic and makeup products.”

Artis Palm Brush

I use this and the Oval 10 for liquid foundation since I can’t believe the softness of the brushes and the airbrushed application.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? Without a doubt. Even though I have the Oval 10 which is the same except that the Palm brush doesn’t have a handle, I wanted this and caved. Happy happy.

TARTE SHAPE TAPE aka DOUBLE DUTY BEAUTY SHAPE TAPE CONTOUR CONCEALER ($25)

So I found myself in Ulta without a plan to buy anything and I came across the infamous Tarte Shape Tape. When Shape Tape first came out you couldn’t find it anywhere not even Tarte’s website. That made the hunt more real. The last thing I needed was another concealer.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair Beige

This very fat tube and very fat wand are quite interesting. I’ve always liked the concealers that Tarte makes and this one intrigued me. There are 14 shades to choose from and several that are light enough for me. After much deliberation I chose Fair Beige which I now see is for fair skin with pink undertones. The color choice was right.

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair Beige

Ulta explains how to use this as a contour and as a concealer. I mainly use it under my eyes. I rarely start a day with concealer but I do add it if I’m going somewhere later in the day or evening. “Powered by Amazonian clay and conditioning mango seed and shea butters, the nutrient-rich concealer helps promote skin elasticity and illumination with each crease-free application.”

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? At first I didn’t think so but it’s really grown on me. I have a ton of concealers and wondered why I bought another, but I’m glad I did. It doesn’t crease under my eyes and does a good job of covering everything up.

KJAER WEIS CREAM BLUSH – BLOSSOMING ($56)

Now this was a true splurge. I actually had no intention of buying this and then suddenly it was in my cart and on my CC. Hmm. I did no research into this other than knowing that Kjaer Weis was a luxury brand and that the reviews were amazing. But it’s a cream blush and I’m a nut for cream blush.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush

The first thing to know is that this is the heaviest cosmetic I own. It could be used as a weapon. The metal compact is beautiful on my vanity and slides open to display the creamiest of all cream blushes.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming

Blossoming is a beautiful light peachy pink shade that is subtle yet shows up perfectly on my fair skin. I’m totally in love with this color.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming

Kjaer Weiss blush is – Certified organic – Formulated with Rose Rubiginosa Seed Oil to fight signs of aging – Free from gluten, petroleum, parabens, artificial coloring and fragrance. This comes in 5 shades that all look totally amazing to me. Lovely is on my list for the next time I “need” to splurge.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Blossoming

This isn’t a cream to powder but it’s not sticky. I apply a light amount of setting powder to my cheeks first and then use my finger to blend the cream on. It melts onto my finger and applies like buttah! It’s infused with Castor Seed and Jojoba Oils to help strengthen and nourish the skin and has a Beeswax base that’s well-suited to all complexions.

WAS THIS A GOOD SPLURGE? Yes yes and yes again. I love it and when I can afford it I’ll purchase another.

What are your favorite liners? Makeup Wars shares

Favorite eyeliners and lipliners

Eyeliners and lipliners are the stars of the show this week and I’ve got a lot of pictures to share. I like lipliners but I don’t use them all the time but I don’t go out without eyeliner. That’s my jam and I absolutely must have it on if anyone other than my immediate family is going to see me. My eyes totally disappear otherwise.

I was a huge gel eyeliner fan for years. I’d use almost nothing else. I had every MAC and Bobbi Brown one and then started collecting other brands. I was sure that gel eyeliners were going to be all that I used. And then I had an epiphany. Eddie Funkhouser came into my life with his Ultra Definition Eye Lining Stylus and that was it. Yes I still used my gels but the more I used the black liquid eyeliner from Eddie Funkhouser the more I grew to love liquid liners.

Eddie Funkhouser Ultra Defnition Eye Lining Stylus

Eddie Funkhouser Ultra Defnition Eye Lining Stylus

The tip of a liquid eyeliner is what is most important to me and the tip on this EF one is what all others get compared too. It’s thin yet firm. Some liquid liners have squishy styluses but not Eddie. The ultra black ink flows without skipping. I can do a line once and not have to go back over it. At the end of the day with this and all others though I do usually have to add more on the bottom lashline since my eyes water a little.

Physician’s Formula Eye Booster and Eddie Funkhouser Ultra Definition Eye Lining Stylus

After my experience with Eddie’s black liner I bought a ridiculous amount of brown liquid liners until I found my favorite: Physician’s Formula Eye Booster 2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum (aka PF). Of all the brown liquid liners this is the one I’ve bought half a dozen times including just this past weekend. Although it’s available in black, ultra black and deep brown I’ve only purchased deep brown. Between Eddie Funkhouser and PF I’m in eyeliner heaven.

liquid eyeliner swatches

Other brown liquid liners I recommend are Jesse’s Girl, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown, and Youngblood Marron. All 3 of these have worked great for me. I have backups of the Youngblood, PF, and Eddie Funkhouser since I’m going nowhere without them.

Pencil eyeliners from MAC, Eddie Funkhouser, and Painted Earth

Pencil eyeliners in my house outnumber the amount of lipsticks too even though I don’t use them often. I do have three favorites though that I think are beautiful.

Pencil eyeliners from MAC, Eddie Funkhouser, and Painted Earth

I used to wear only MAC eye pencils before I became enamored with gel liners. MAC Black Russian remains a favorite and one of the few I use. It’s a black blue with teeny sparkles and really adds a twinkle. But of course it’s discontinued so I’ll savor mine. Eddie Funkhouser’s Graffiti Cream Eyeliner is an excellent black pencil that wears well on the waterline, can be smudged, and lasts on me! I love Painted Earth Superwear Gel Liner in Baroque. The color is stunning with it’s metallic golden brown hue. Another I have backups of. The other shades are great too but it’s Baroque that’s so unique.

Jane Iredale Mystikol liner in Dark Topaz

Jane Iredale Mystikol liner in Dark Topaz

Jane Iredale Mystikol liner in Dark Topaz

I haven’t forgotten gel eyeliners and I do use them often. My newest is Jane Iredale Mystikol in Dark Topaz. I bought this after reading Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog about the one she has in black. This is a beautiful golden brown with a built in brush that is actually great to use. It’s become my go to for gel eyeliner (even though it’s called Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner).

Wet n Wild Perfectpout Gel Lip Liners

Lipliners are the second part of this post. Last week I found a display with Wet n’ wild Perfectpout Gel Lip Liners ($3.19 each) at CVS (They are $2.99 on the wnw site). Since my local CVS stores never have anything new from WnW I grabbed these up and plan to go back for another one.

Wet n Wild Perfectpout Gel Lip Liners

My bathroom light where I’ve been taking pictures is very yellow so these aren’t totally true but Bare to Comment is a great nude lipliner. These are wind up so no sharpening needed. Gel liners, whether eye or lip, can dry out quickly so be careful to keep the top snapped in place. Since you can’t swatch you have to guess but at this price (and a CVS coupon) you can’t lose out. Never Petal Down is a great pink.

Lipliner favorites

More lipliner favorites though a lot are discontinued: Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk which is a great nude and works well with my 2 CT lipsticks and others, Estee Lauder Midnight Plum (discontinued) and the only dark lipliner I actually use, Shiseido 702 and Brun Mauve (both discontinued but there are other great shades).

Lipliner favorites

Make Up For Ever Aqua Lips in 14C (Light Rosewood) is another great one for nude lips, Mary Kay Dusty Pink which is old as the hills and I was so upset when it was discontinued though I bought 3 more on Ebay within the last year, Mally Nude Light is a gel lipliner that’s glossy and fun to wear, and Lancome Charme.

And now you know my liner secrets! If I was forced to narrow this down it would be hard but Eddie Funkhouser liquid liner in black, Physician’s Formula liquid liner in brown, and Mary Kay’s discontinued Dusty Pink lipliner would be the ones you couldn’t wrest from my little hands!  —  Marcia

I hope you find more liners from my friends:

Makeup Wars and lipstick = perfect combinations

Makeup Wars is always a fun time because you get to see what many bloggers enjoy in one topic. When you mention lipstick or liquid lipstick or lip gloss to a blogger you get some happy women. I’m sharing some of my recent acquisitions to see if there are colors or brands that will make your lips and heart go pitter patter.

Models Own, PUR Cosmetics, Jane Iredale

Not to play favorites but it’s typical to like some colors and formulas better than others and one that really has my attention is Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Crayon in Hot. I love easy and to me lip crayons are easy personified.

Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Crayon in Hot

Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Crayons are available in 7 shades. They are so creamy and just glide on. There’s no fragrance or scent to these and they are cruelty free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, phthalate-free, and oil-free. I don’t normally choose a red lip but Hot can be applied with different intensities to make it look more of a pinky red.

Jane Iredale PlayOn Lip Crayon in Hot

These are moisturizing, nourished with Vitamin E, and make my lips feel comfortable. I can add a gloss over it for more fun. I may be showcasing this in summer but it’s going to be an all year round lippie for me.

Next up PUR Cosmetics has two formulas I’ve worn this summer: Velvet Matte and Chrome Glaze. They are as different as night and day but each has its special attributes.

PUR Cosmetics Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick and Chrome Glaze Lip Gloss

PUR Cosmetics Velvet Matte has a mousse like texture so it’s not as drying as I find many matte lipsticks to be. While it’s definitely a matte on my lips it feels very pliable and my lips don’t shrivel up. I have this in Obsessed which is considered a soft pink, it’s not a pastel though. Any time I wear a liquid matte I have to take my time to apply my lips since it’s not slapdash. A liner helps keep it in place so I don’t make mistakes.

PUR Cosmetics Velvet Matte in Obsessed

PUR Cosmetics also has Chrome Glaze High Shine Lip Glosses and this is more my style. I have this in Heartbreaker and it’s an amazing shade for me. I can wear this gel formula alone or even better apply it over my Velvet Matte lip for shiny beauty.

PUR Cosmetics Chrome Glaze in Heartbreaker

PUR describes Heartbreaker as “perfect pink” and it is the perfect pink for me. Not too bright, not too pale, just right! It’s a longer lasting gloss formula but like all glosses it’s going to have to be reapplied.

PUR Cosmetics Obsessed Velvet Matte and Heartbreaker Chrome Glaze

I don’t know how long PUR’s special lasts but using the code LIPSTICK can get you 3 lip products for $20 so that’s a deal you want to hop on.

As you may know ULTA has enhanced their stores and website with some amazing new brands. One of those brands is Model’s Own. This British brand has stormed the US with some innovative products. The prices are great so it’s a fun brand to explore.

Models Own LIX Matte Liquid Lipstick in Strawberry Mojito and Raspberry Mojito

Model’s Own LIX Matte Liquid Lipstick comes in 6 shades for only $7.99 each. If you love matte you’ll love Model’s Own. It’s the mattest of any matte I’ve ever tried. It has a minty fragrance to it that I find refreshing but there is a tingle with it that you’ll notice for a few minutes. Make sure your lips are exfoliated before wearing LIX since something this matte is going to show everything. The smoother your lips are, the better Models Own LIX will apply.

Models Own LIX Matte Liquid Lipstick in Strawberry Mojito and Raspberry Mojito

I love the packaging of these. It surely attracts attention. They also have some heft to them. Strawberry Mojito is a bright red on me with orange undertones, I mostly see the red once on. Raspberry Mojito is a dark berry on my lips though it swatches with more purple. LIX are very intense on me. You have to really like a bold matte lip to appreciate these two shades.

Models Own LIX Matte Liquid Lipstick in Strawberry Mojito and Raspberry Mojito

I’m going to put a plug in for Eddie Funkhouser Hyperreal Nourishing Lipsticks that I just reviewed since these are the lipsticks I’m getting a lot of use out of this summer. Plus I have a giveaway going on so you could win some!

Summer fun with nails

This week for Makeup Wars we are sharing some favorite polishes for summer. This was actually a last minute decision for the group so I gathered pictures of the polishes I’ve been wearing up until today to share with you. None of the ones I’ve been wearing are new but they are ones I love and hope you do too.

COLOR CLUB HALO HUES in MISS BLISS

The Halo Hues polish collections are fabulous polishes. Not only do they wear beautifully but they are more holographic than any other polish brand I’ve ever bought.

Color Club Miss Bliss on Polarbelle’s blog

In 2013 I did a guest post for Polarbelle and wore this polish and I’m wearing it now as I type.

Color Club Halo Hues Miss Bliss

It’s still available on ebay and if you love shiny pink holo nails then you’ll adore this polish.

INGLOT MAMMA MIA (number 220)

I wore this over the July 4th weekend and everyone loved not only how pretty it is but how it fit the holiday. I swear I saw it for sale but I can’t find it now. But if you can get your hands on it, it’s a stunner with beautiful shimmer.

Inglot Mamma Mia! #220

Inglot Mamma Mia! #220

I need to get my hands on some Inglot Nail Enamel now that I’ve seen how perfectly this wore for a week.

LILLIAN EVE NAVY BEEN BETTER

Lillian Eve is a small indie nail company with a tiny collection right now. I’ve had Navy Been Better for a long time and finally got around to wearing it around Memorial Day.

Lillian Eve Navy Been Better

Lillian Eve Navy Been Better

I gravitate towards blues like this, it’s not really navy except in certain lights. It’s very satiny and wore perfectly for a week with just a bit of wear where it wraps around the nail.

CND BECKONING BEGONIA VINYLUX

When I was moving I wanted a polish that would last 2 weeks so I turned to CND Vinylux. Beckoning Begonia has an infinitesimal amount of shimmer to it. It looks a little more shimmery in the bottle than on my nails. So while I was disappointed in that, I wasn’t disappointed in the way this lasted through packing and unpacking 1,234,567 boxes.

ESSIE ARUBA BLUE

I can’t tell you how many weeks I sat and looked at Aruba Blue in the nail polish racks of my nail tech. Finally I had to wear it. It’s fitting for my affinity for blue and this made me wish I was back in Aruba.

Essie Aruba Blue

LAUREN B ROSE BOWL

Last but not least is Lauren B Rose Bowl because I love red all year long. This is another brand that is fabulous and Rose Bowl is a perfect example of the beauty of their polishes.

I’m ready for more pastels now and I have a set of Julie G polishes waiting in the wings for my next nail polish post. I can’t wait to wear them. What’s on your agenda for polish this summer?  —  Marcia

3 sunscreens you don’t want to miss from Hint, Murad, and NIA24

Nia24 Sun Damage Prevention, Hint Sunscreen Sprays, Murad City Skin Age Defense

Nia24 Sun Damage Prevention, Hint Sunscreen Sprays, Murad City Skin Age Defense

It’s really truly the season that you can’t go without sun protection. We talk about it all year but many of us are bundled up with our fall and winter clothes so only our faces seem to need protection. But now that it’s summer I won’t let you get away with that. You need to protect yourself everywhere and that’s what this week’s Makeup Wars is all about. You’ll learn from me and the others what our favorites are. I’m thrilled with my trio of sunscreens and hope these become choices of yours too.  —  Marcia

sent for consideration

Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50|PA++++ Mineral Sunscreen

Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50|PA++++ Mineral Sunscreen

Starting with my face since I never go without sunscreen protection on my face! I’m currently using Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50|PA++++ Mineral Sunscreen and truly enjoying it. I started using this Murad SPF the day I received it and haven’t stopped at all. This lightweight, fragrance free sunscreen has a pearlescent look to it that leaves my skin looking dewy.

Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50|PA++++ Mineral Sunscreen

Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50|PA++++ Mineral Sunscreen

I’ve used it with half a dozen foundations and it always plays nicely. No balling up which can be a problem with other sunscreens I’ve used. This has a slightly peachy tone to it that brightens skin if you don’t want to apply foundation over it.

Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50|PA++++ Mineral Sunscreen

Prior to this I was using Supergoop but I always winced a little with the texture and smell. Not happening with Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50|PA++++ Mineral Sunscreen. It’s perfect for my skin and I’m so happy to have discovered it.

NIA24 Sun Damage Prevention Broad Spectrum SPF30 100% Mineral Sunscreen may have a very long name but that’s okay once you learn all the benefits of this one.

NIA24 Sun Damage Prevention Broad Spectrum SPF30 100% Mineral Sunscreen

NIA24 Sun Damage Prevention Broad Spectrum SPF30 100% Mineral Sunscreen

NIA24 Sun Damage Prevention Broad Spectrum SPF30 100% Mineral Sunscreen

While I’ve used this NIA24 Sunscreen on my face I don’t use it on the days I’m applying foundation. It’s a thick white cream that I need to blend especially well so that it doesn’t appear white on my face. This one is perfect for my grandkid playdates when I’m out and about with them. Even though the SPF is 30 compared to Murad’s 50, it just feels like it’s protecting me especially well.

NIA24 Sun Damage Prevention Broad Spectrum SPF30 100% Mineral Sunscreen

What makes the NIA24 Sun Damage Prevention Broad Spectrum SPF30 100% Mineral Sunscreen unique is the 5% Niacin it contains. Other key ingredients are 7.5% Homosalate, 5% Octisalate, 3% Avobenzone, 2.6% Octocrylene, Mango Butter, Ceramides, and Antioxidants.

I love this on my arms too since they finally have become uncovered and need extra protection. I’ve developed some sunspots and feel this is really helping protect me from gaining more.

HINT SUNSCREEN SPRAY is a new product created by the people who make Hint Water. It’s so innovative and smells so delicious!

Hint Sunscreen Spray

Hint Sunscreen Spray

Hint Sunscreen Spray comes in 3 fragrances and are a delight to use. I was sent this in Pineapple and Grapefruit and as soon as these are finished I’ll be ordering the Pear. That’s how great these are. While it can be used on your face by spraying it into your hands and applying it that way, I like it on my body. And then I like to smell my arms all day long.

Hint Sunscreen Spray Pineapple

Hint Sunscreen Spray Pineapple

With broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection and easy 360° spray-on application, our hydrating, skin-quenching sunscreen is water resistant for 80 minutes. Employing Bag-on-Valve (BOV) technology, our innovative spray uses only compressed air, eliminating propellant chemicals, providing uniform coverage, and offering extra-fast drying time. Plus, it’s oxybenzone- and paraben-free—a delicious, radiant glow, delivered with only the good stuff.

Hint Sunscreen Spray Grapefruit

These are made with the essence of the fragrances. You’ll forget about that “sunscreen smell” that we often complain about. Even your kids won’t complain about the smell of Hint. The fragrance isn’t strong and it’s very true to life plus the spray isn’t sticky in the least. In my experience they haven’t attracted bugs but they do attract people.

I’m so happy to have the chance to share these with you but even more to be using them myself. All are living up to my expectations and I’m sure yours too.

($14.99) is my bargain pick. This 1.7 oz jar will last you for months if used 2-3 times per week as recommended. This is used in place of your moisturizer/night cream.

As with all Aveeno Positively Radiant skincare products this uses Active Naturals Total Soy Complex which works to deeply hydrate and nourish skin.

This overnight facial is oil free and non-greasy. You don’t need to rinse it off until morning. It’s also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. Aveeno’s Positively Radiant line works to target 5 factors of radiance – tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness, and brown spots. I find this to be deeply hydrating for my skin.

Miss Spa Overnight Gel Masque

Miss Spa Overnight Gel Masque

Miss Spa Overnight Gel Masque ($8.00) is another bargain buy at about $2.60 per use. I really love using this and highly recommend this. It’s a fragrance free gel that is infused with Adenosine and Papaya. If you have very dry skin then you need this. It’s very watery so at first you’d think that it’s not moisturizing but I wake up with completely refreshed skin and notice a difference in the hydration on my face.

There’s no doubt why the biggest word on the package is Moisturizing! You apply the mask to your face and neck and massage it gently onto your skin. You want it as absorbed as possible. Done! That’s all it takes. Leave it on the entire night and you’ll wake up revitalized. Both Target and Ulta carry Miss Spa masks though at the moment I don’t see this online though they could be in stores. Miss Spa has it on their website and that makes it worthwhile to shop there.

WODA Celebrity 24 Karat Gold Mask

WODA Celebrity 24 Karat Gold Mask

WODA CELEBRITY 24 KARAT GOLD MASK is my luxury buy. I just reviewed this in full so here’s a smidgen of that. I really enjoy using this mask and seeing the results on my skin. I’m just using it one night a week though it’s so gentle that I could easily use it more often. I’m just trying to savor it.

WODA Celebrity 24 Karat Gold Mask

The 24 Karat Gold Mask’s name comes from the fact that it’s infused with 24 karat gold. The gold works as a powerful antioxidant to fight signs of aging. I’m part of that battle as are many of you. It contains a potent dose of Vitamin C to help lighten hyperpigmentation.

WODA Celebrity 24 Karat Gold Mask

WODA Celebrity 24 Karat Gold Mask is part mask and part moisturizer. Directions tell you to apply a rich layer on your face, neck, and decollate. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. It dries down but not all the way. It remains moist on your skin but not quite as moist as when you applied it. Do not wash it off though. Instead gently remove any excess with a dry cloth (I use a muslin cloth) and pat the remainder onto your skin.

me™ GLOW beauty boosting eye mask

Let me put in a plug for Me Glow Beauty Boosting Eye Mask which is totally unlike these other masks since it’s an actual mask. You wear it all night (or as long as you can) to help soften the lines around your eyes. When I was using this more regularly I found it helped me with the darkness under my eyes.

Now that you see what’s in bed with me (beside my hubby and dog and the bed bugs) what do you use? I’m eager to see what my fellow Makeup Wars bloggers have in their arsenal.  —  Marcia
