MOODmatchers Twist Sticks to brighten your mood

What goes around comes around. One of the newest fashion crazes is fanny packs. Did you used to wear one? Did you think it was a wonderful fashion statement? Well they are back and Shopbop has some great looking ones from $17 to $395 so you know they are in style again. Did you ever have a mood ring? Did it work? I had one and it was a fun diversion. Those are back too!

What’s never gone away though are lipsticks that change with your chemistry. I received 3 Fran Wilson MOODmatcher Twist Sticks and they take me back to the future. These are such an interesting twist on most lip crayons as you’ll see.

Fran Wilson Moodmatcher Twist Sticks

Fran Wilson Moodmatcher Twist Sticks

There are 6 shades of the Fran Wilson MOODmatcher Twist Sticks and they are long lasting colors that are great for when you need your lip color to last and last. When applied they go on lighter than the final results you’ll end up with. I found that it took about an hour for them to fully develop. What looks dark on me though may look lighter on you because of your personal chemistry.

On the box there’s a picture of what the shade will look like but I found that that’s how it appeared upon first application. The shades all turned darker on me with time. These are called 12 Hour Lip Color and they really do last. It does fade but it didn’t leave any “ring around the rosey” lines for me. After a few hours I applied my Burt’s Bees lip balm and the color mellowed out and remained as a stain. My lips were comfortable all day.

When it came to my mood the Dark Pink changed the most. It started off pink but became more fuchsia after an hour. The Red just deepened and didn’t change as much. Light Blue was the lightest of the three and didn’t turn as much as Dark Pink but still not a light lipstick. After the freshness of applying, they all settled into a stained look that later welcomed a lip balm. MOODmatchers are hydrating and vitamin enriched. And they stick around after some smooching.

This is a fun product to carry around with you since these Twist Sticks don’t have to be sharpened, just twist them up when you want more of the color to show. And at $8 each they are priced well enough to have several.

The claims that MOODmatchers makes are real except that I found it developed more as time went on. Whatever your vibe is, I think there’s going to be a MOODmatcher Twist Stick for you. Pixi Pixi Pixi – how you complete me

Pixi Beauty products you need

Pixi Beauty products you need

Pixi Beauty continues to surprise and delight me with the products that they send. These 5 cosmetics will bring you brighter skin, gorgeous nails, and lips & eyes that shine. All of these will give you a special glow.

Pixi Glow Mist

Pixi Glow Mist

Pixi Glow is almost a cult product. It’s one of the most popular products that Pixi Beauty has created. They’ve taken it one step forward now and created Pixi by Petra Glow Mist. This mist works with Pixi Glow but it’s a totally separate product. Its goal is to give you an all-over glow for a radiant, dewy effect. It’s a spray that really works. You can use this before makeup to hydrate, protect and nourish your skin. Or use it after makeup to add a dewy finish. Plus you can use it any time you want to refresh your makeup look and add that wonderful glow. At $15 for this 2.7 oz bottle you’ve got yourself a reasonably priced winner.

Pixi Beauty Fairy Dust in Olive Gold

Pixi Beauty Fairy Dust in Olive Gold

Pixi Beauty makes a pigment product that they call Fairy Dust ($10). There are two new shades added to this collection and they are beauties. First is Olive Gold which I knew I’d love before I even opened the package. Olive Gold is described as “vintage gilded moss shimmer” and that alone made me want it on my eyes instantly. I have brown eyes and I think that the gold with an undertone of green makes for an especially pretty eye.

Pixi Olive Gold Fairy Dust

Another new shade is Silver Glow which is described as “Satin silver with a lavender-gold sheen”.

Pixi Fairy Dust in Silver Glow

Pixi Fairy Dust in Silver Glow

Pixi Fairy Dust in Silver Glow

Pixi Fairy Dust in Silver Glow

I bet that reading the name Silver Glow sounded a bit scary since silver isn’t the easiest shade to pull off once you are over your twenties. But silver that isn’t metallic is a beautiful shade and this has that touch of lavender and drop of gold to make it gleam.

The sponge applicator doesn’t apply on my eyes smoothly so I take their recommendation of using a fluffy brush and use this all over my eyelid as a wash. If I want to get more dramatic I’ll use a mixing medium to darken the silver or I’ll use a charcoal or black in the outer crease.

Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow

Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow

While not a new product Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Lucent Glow ($14) is a new shade for me. Actually it’s not really a shade, you don’t want to wear this alone, or at least I don’t. I love Pixi’s lip crayons because they hydrate, are easy to apply, and look good. Lucent Glow is a very light luminous rose gold shimmer in a translucent pink base. This goes well with the theme of GLOW for February’s products. This will look good all year round though and bring a lift to any lipsticks you happen to be wearing.

Pixi Beauty Amethyst Amore nail polish

Pixi Beauty Amethyst Amore nail polish

For me the star of the show is Pixi’s Amethyst Amore nail polish. I can’t even begin to tell you how many people took my hand over the week I wore this to look at this fabulous deep blue-violet shade. Amethyst Amore is well named since it was instant ‘amore’ with this polish. Pixi wears beautifully on me, lasting a week with no problem.

Pixi Amethyst Amore

Pixi Amethyst Amore

I’ve raved about Pixi many times before and products like these will keep me raving and talking about their virtues. All 5 of these are being used and will continue to be used by me with amore. — Marcia

Pixi Beauty is available at their website as well as at Target stores. These products will be available March 5 at stores but to be assured of getting the products I want though I rely on Pixibeauty.com.

Glisten is actually lighter than my picture shows and since it’s sheer it looks lighter on my lips.

SMOLDER:  a cherry red that’s my favorite. It’s my AHA moment because I’m normally not comfortable in red but this sheer shade makes it wearable and not as bold as I’d find a red. Plus the cherry makes it more on the cool pink side.

Let me tell you more about why you want this set! Mineral Fusion is a company that is 100% vegetarian with most products 100% Vegan. The lip crayons are made of 100% pure minerals in an ultra-hydrating formula that’s infused with cocoa butter and a lip-firming peptide. You can swipe them on without looking or you can take the time and build up the color with several layers. It’s a gluten free formula that has an easy to wear vanilla-mint flavor. I notice the scent and flavor when I first apply these but this doesn’t linger and that’s another reason I’m enjoying them so much. The colors are vibrant even though sheer. It’s hypo-allergenic and is free of any artificial colors.

Great goodies from October’s Glossybox

Glossybox

Glossybox

I’m guessing that we all love surprises although there are a variety of surprises we could have in our life. Some aren’t so great (falling and being out of commission for months) and some are wonderful (finding about a new baby or marriage) while others are surprises that come because we want them. Glossybox sent their latest surprise box and this qualifies to be in my third category – surprises because we /want them.

October’s Glossybox is a welcome surprise for me and added some needed fun to my life. While I haven’t had a chance to use them all, I think this box is loaded with products that are going to be well loved for me.

Contents of the October Glossybox

I was especially thrilled when I opened the pink box to see some familiar packaging – TARTE!  One of my favorite brands and definitely one of my favorite products: POWER PIGMENT in Flush. I’ve raved constantly about these lip crayons so it’s no surprise to hear me rave again. Flush is a sheer berry hue that will suit most complexions. This is a matte lip but it doesn’t feel or look that matte to me. I find the Power Pigments to be comfortable on my lips. They are easy to use, easy to wear, and beautiful. With Flush you can create a stained effect by just dabbing it with your finger. If you don’t have any of these Tarte Lip Crayons or don’t have Flush then this $24 pays for the cost of the box. The rest is just gravy!

The next product I pulled out of the box is from NAILS INC. I have always enjoyed the polishes that I’ve bought from Nails Inc. and this is new to me: Westminster Bridge Matte Top Coat ($10). What’s great about owning a matte top coat is that you can get double wear out of your polishes. Do your manicure with a glossy top coat, wear it a few days, then apply this matte top coat and change up your look in an instant. Another thing I’ve been seeing a lot is people that apply the matte polish/top coat on their full nail and then doing a “french” tip in a shiny top coat.

You can’t miss the biggest product in the box PROGANIX VOLUME ROOT BOOST FINISH + BODY BUILDER ($11.99, 5.1 FL OZ). Proganix has gone through some name changes in the last year so you might be more familiar with their original name of Organix. Same great line, just a new name. The Volume Root Boost is to help give you not just bigger hair but it adds volume and body. It contains soy protein and caffeine to walk up your style. It’s a great shine booster too.

Next is pampering time and boy do I need that. SESHA BOTANICAL HYDRO MASK ($9 each) is a full sheet facial mask that is great for calming down your skin. It contains cucumber, green tea and marigold which are known for anti-inflammatory benefits. Give yourself 15-30 minutes of relaxation with this mask on and you’ll be glowing after.

For all you fragrance lovers out there Glossybox has included one of the prettiest minis I’ve seen in a long time. The fragrance is VINCE CAMUTO AMORE EAU DE PARFUM and this is a limited edition. According to Glossybox this stars “ephemeral scent of fresh-cut flowers and fragrant fruits atop a base of comforting cashmere, rich amber and earthy sandalwood”. The fragrance is a sensual one. The mini bottle is a beautiful addition to your fragrance wardrobe.

Lately Glossybox has been adding in some bonuses and this month is no different. My box contained a $40 gift car to HELLO FRESH which is a food service. You go to their website at hellofresh.com, pick out recipes you want to try from their weekly menus, and order the pre-measured ingredients to create the recipe fresh at home. They deliver nationwide and have veggie boxes as well as ones with meat products. It’s an interesting concept and a nice way to try it out for free.

Pixi Beauty for October gives you reasons to be creative

October is really the most magical month of the year because you can make it the way you want it. It can be sweet and sassy, it can be monstrous, it can be spooky or it can be a perfectly beautiful fall month. You make it be what you want it to be. Pixi Beauty sent over some of their October offerings and I find a little of everything in these selections – sweet, spooky, and fallish.

Pixi Beauty

Pixi Beauty

First is a Pixi Beauty Super Smoky Crayon Combo. This is a double ended pencil with one side meant for lining and the other defining. The Line end is thinner and pointier. If you’ve never tried Pixi Beauty pencils you are totally missing out on something fabulous in the world of pencil eyeliners. I’ve bought many including sets of them. This is my first one that’s double ended and meant to be worn two ways. The Line end, a matte black, is for your upper lash line while the thicker charcoal Define end is for blending into your lower lashline as well as into the crease to contour. It’s a great charcoal with a luminous finish. Using the pencil this way would be for my spooky aka Smoky eye. The pencil is waterproof, hypoallergenic and like most Pixi products has no preservatives or mineral oil.

Keeping on the Spooky track for October, or any month, chose the Pixi Beauty Polish in Matte Black. What’s great about a matte black polish is that it can be used in many ways – nail art, matte polish, or top it with a shiny top coat and have a shiny black. A gorgeous manicure is to use this Matte Black polish on your nails and then do the tips only (like a French manicure) with a shiny clear top coat. It’s both dressy like a black tie party and attention getting for daily wear. The polish is thick and you could get away with one coat if you wanted. Pixi polishes wear well on me since I find them to be chip resistant. Plus there’s a built in UV protection to prevent discoloration. Pixi makes their polishes 3 Free (Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP free) ($8).

Pixi Matte Black Nail Color

For the sweet and sassy I’d look into Pixi’s Fairy Dust. For October they are featuring Snow Sparkle Fairy Dust ($10). This has a luminous glow to it. It looks like there’s a touch of lavender in the bottle but what appears on the eye or cheeks is a subtle platinum. It isn’t glitter but it is pure shimmer. Use this on the inner corners of your eyes and/or on the lid. You can also dust this along your browbone for an uplift to your eyes or even over your lips to create a glow. Since it’s not glitter it feels smooth on your lips, not crunchy.

A fabulous choice for your lips is a true fall shade – Tinted Brilliance Balm in Soft Sienna. I’m a huge fan of crayon lip products and Pixi Beauty knows how to do them right. Their lip balm crayons ($14) are glossy, moisturizing and hydrating. Soft Sienna is a beautiful shade for the season since it has a touch of brown, a touch of red and a touch of coral. But it’s not too much of any of those shades, it’s just a brilliant combination that makes an easy to wear and unique color. This has a slight fragrance that reminds me of peaches. I like a subtle shade on my lips so Soft Sienna hits the jackpot for me.

Pixi Beauty used these products on the runway in a spring 2015 look they called their Futuristic Fall Face. Eyes used both the Super Smoky Crayon Combo and Fairy Dust in Snow Sparkle – black and white and luminous glow. The lips in Soft Sienna added a perfect pop of color for the white items that were featured with the look.

Make October your month to be whatever you want to be. Don’t be stuck in orange and black – change those up to sienna and charcoal to lead the way. — Marcia

Shine, Plump and Beautify with Mally Lip Magnifiers

mally lip magnifier

Let me entice you in the same way that Mally Beauty enticed me. We were sent 3 of the mally-nificent Evercolor Lip Magnifiers to test out and they are right up my alley. For the month of August Mally has these on sale from $20 to $15 so you don’t want to miss out.

Mally Lip Magnifier

Mally Lip Magnifier

I’m a huge fan of lip crayons. I like the one step use of these. I like something easy, I like something that lasts better than a gloss, yet I like a luminous finish. I like flavorless lip color and a wide range of shades. Mally put all of those into one handy crayon form and she created this in 12 great colors (13 on ulta.com but the sale isn’t there). These are lip plumpers that are a combination of lipstick and gloss.

While Mally Beauty says that the color will last all day, you know that your mileage may vary. It lasts on me for about 2 hours without eating but I’m the type that bites my lips.

At first when I looked at Princess Pink and Pink Petal I thought they’d be very much alike on my lips but they are each distinct. Princess Pink is my favorite, it’s a beautiful light pink that isn’t a nude. It’s cool toned and lively without being too dark. I think it’s the glossiest of the 3 I have. I L.O.V.E. this lip magnifier!

Princess Pink

Princess Pink

Pink Petal is appropriately named since it’s a light warm pink. It’s the easiest shade for me to wear since I don’t like to emphasize my small lips.

Frisky Fuchsia is also appropriately named. It is frisky. It shows up! There’s nothing shy about this baby. When I first apply it, it’s too bright but it calms down so that I won’t scare the people that know I like light lips. It’s not a shade I wear often. When Frisky Fuchsia wears away it leaves a stain behind that the other two don’t.

If you are a fan of lip crayons then this is your opportunity to get these non-fragranced, lightly plumping colors for yourself. Your lips won’t plump like a Kardashian’s but they will bring out a better you. — Marcia

Top Ten Tuesday’s lip crayon and lip liner loves

Top 10 Lip Crayons and Lip Liners

Top 10 Lip Crayons and Lip Liners

Top Ten Tuesday has picked my favorite lip products to review this week. I love love love lip crayons. I have oodles of them. I wanted to show a variety of brands and of course once I was all done I thought of a few more. We may just have a part two on Beauty Info Zone. With lip liners, I only have a few brands I like so it was easier to whittle those down to size. The reason I love lip crayons so much is because they are so easy to use. I have several lip crayons in my purse all the time. I can apply them without a mirror if they aren’t too dark. Thank you Top 10 Tuesday for letting me share my favorites!

Pur Minerals Lip Gloss Stick in Berry Pretty* is a cross between a berry and a mauve. I love all of the Pur Minerals Lip Gloss Sticks ($15) but this started as my favorite and 6 months later it remains that way. It’s a “my lips but better” shade once it’s on. Plus it’s not my typical nude lip so I look more alive. It’s got a beautiful glossy finish.

Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in Naked is darker than I consider something naked to be. I bought it after reading the description from Sephora “nude pink sheen” but I don’t consider it nude or pink. I still like it, don’t get me wrong, it’s just darker than I expected. This has the most incredible glossy look to it. I love the one step use of a lipstick/gloss like this. I really want to try it in Love Child ($20).

Ardency Inn Americana Natural Lip Color in Bowery is one I featured in the nude lip Makeup Wars. I just couldn’t leave it out since it’s such a great lip crayon. On my lips it’s a nude peach shade but on others it might have a more pink undertone. I was sad when I was at Sephora last since I wanted to test other shades but the line isn’t in my store. This wears a long time since it’s slighty dewy but not really glossy. ($23)

Hourglass Femme Nude Stylo in No3 is another repeat. My lips find the pink in this nude shade. It’s the most matte of all on my Top Ten list. ($30)

Tarte Power Pigment in True Love* is one of 8 Power Pigments. I could have used all 8 plus 2 of the older LipSurgences and been done but that’s not fair to my collection. So I chose True Love since it’s a fabulous light rose shade. It’s glossy without having a wet look. Tarte knows lip crayons!! ($24)

Ilia Lipstick Crayon in Call Me is actually lighter on my lips than in my swatch. It was inspired by the cult movie Pretty in Pink and is a youthful shade. Ilia isn’t a brand that’s talked about much but the items I’ve bought from them have been great. Here’s a bit about them: “A prestige line of natural and organic beauty products that combine superior color performance and nourishing organics. All ILIA products are made with up to 85% certified organic ingredients that nourish the skin and help aid in its repair.” ($24)

Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Craving Coral ($14) is one of my best buys. I love this fat crayon because it feels so moisturizing on my lips. It has a slight touch of mint to it so I find it refreshing. While my swatch looks coral I find it to be sheerer and softer on my lips. I definitely want more of these.

LAQA & CO Fat Lip Pencil in Wolfman was in one of my subscription boxes. It’s by far the lightest of the lip crayons I have so it’s good for a quick “almost-no-makeup-day”. I’m not sure how a sweet pink like this got the name Wolfman! ($18)

Top Ten Lip Liners: MUFE and IT

Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencils in 2C and 15C ($19)* are fantastic lipliners in general but even better for summertime. These are waterproof so they are great to use as a lip base for long lasting color. 2C is named Rosewood and it’s described as a rosy nude. 15C is named Pink and is described as a vibrant pink. Both will make your summer lips last but you’ll have trouble picking from the 25 shades.

IT Cosmetics Your Lips But Better Waterproof Lip Liner Stain* in Romantic Rose and Pretty in Pink ($20)are actually moisturizing lip liners. As with all IT Cosmetics they are loaded with anti-aging properties. They have a built in sharpener too. Romantic Rose is a deep rose that’s beautiful on its own although I like it with a lighter lipstick over it. Pretty in Pink is a pretty pink just like the name says. It’s not always easy to find a great pink lip liner but you can count on this one.

Are any of your favorites in my list? I’m always in the market for lip crayons so share your favorites. — Marcia
